Written By: Amy Worrey – Chasing the Checkered

The 2026 race season is beginning to wind down at Wiscasset Speedway, and
champions are starting to be crowned every week. This past Saturday, the track hosted
a full Group 2 program that included the Dale’s Cash Fuel Roadrunners, Creative
Cleanouts Sport Modifieds, Wood Pellet Warehouse Late Models and the
“championship race” for the Portland Glass Strictly Streets.

L-R: Hayden Carver, Easton Downing, Gavin Gerow and Karigan Glasier.
The afternoon kicked off with a 30-lap Pepsi spotlight feature for the Roadrunners.
Unfortunately, the race started out with chaos as Eric Powell took a spin on the initial
lap, making hard contact with the turn 3 wall. This resulted in a red flag, and the
cautions kept coming, resulting in a slow start to the race. Once the field settled, multi-
time race winner Gavin Gerow pulled ahead with the advantage over Hayden Carver.
Karigan Glasier was also coming to life in the second half of the race, breaking the top 3
on lap 16. Gavin Gerow maintained command through the remainder of the feature,
picking up his fifth win of the season and further extending his points lead in the division
while Hayden Carver and Karigan Glasier rounded out the top 3.

Entering the feature race for the Strictly Streets, Chaz Briggs held a 6-point lead over
Zack Emerson. Meanwhile, Dale Lawrence pulled ahead with the early advantage in the
30-lap feature, although the beginning of the race was riddled with cautions once again.
Chaz Briggs was involved in a lap 2 pile-up and was forced to restart at the rear, but
multiple cautions that followed brought him closer to the front once again. Through the
chaos, Ethan Dinsmore managed to snag the lead over Shawn Emery, who avoided the
chaos at the front of the field.

L-R: Zack Emerson, Easton Downing, Shawn Emery and Dale Lawrence
Dale Lawrence took a spin with just 4 laps to go, resulting in a caution. Shawn Emery
was forced to stop at the backstretch wall due to some smoke coming out of the rear of
his car, but race control deemed there were no leaks and simply smoke, allowing him to
stay on the track. While battling for position on the restart, Ethan Dinsmore and Ray
Dinsmore made contact, collecting Chuck Wagstaff, Justin Gailloux and Mac Hannan,
Jr. in their wake. Shawn Emery pulled ahead on the restart, while it was a dog fight fron
second on back. Emery scored the win, the second of his career, while Zack Emerson
and Dan Trask rounded out the podium. Chaz Briggs, who finished fourth, was deemed
the 2026 division champion – the first of his career after racing at both Beech Ridge
Motor Speedway and Wiscasset Speedway for over a decade.

L-R: Faith Cleaves, Easton Downing, Kyle Hewins and Adam Chadbourne
Scott Tucker made hard contact with the turn 2 wall on the initial start of the 30-lap
Sport Modified feature, resulting in a red flag. Faith Cleaves held the upper hand on the
restart, but both Jaxson Moreside and Kyle Hewins were right there, making it a 3-way
battle for the top spot. After a handful of laps, Hewins dropped back slightly, leaving
Cleaves and Moreside door-to-door at the front of the pack. The leaders battled it out
lap after lap and left the inside line open on lap 23. Kyle Hewins took full advantage of
the opportunity, powering to the lead while Faith Cleaves settled into second. Multi-time
champion Adam Chadbourne entered the frame with two laps to go, stealing third away
from Jaxson Moreside. Kyle Hewins held strong at the front of the pack, scoring his fifth
win of the season and further cementing his hefty points lead, while Faith Cleaves and
Adam Chadbourne completed the top 3.

L-R: Frank Moulton, Easton Downing, Shane Clark and Jonathon Emerson
Chase Burgess pulled out to a sizable early lead in the 40-lap feature for the Late
Models. Shane Clark was also on the move early, breaking the top 3 on lap 8. There
were heated battles all over the track from third on back, with Jonathon Emerson
breaking free on lap 14. Shane Clark tracked down Chase Burgess as the laps wound
down, pulling to Burgess’ outside door with just 10 laps to go. Clark completed the pass
two laps later, and the battle for second tightened up as both Frank Moulton and
Jonathon Emerson put the heat on Chase Burgess. Jonathon Emerson completed the
pass with 3 laps to go as Frank Moulton followed in succession. The two drivers went
door-to-door until the bitter end, with Moulton beating Burgess to the line by a nose as
Shane Clark captured the victory. The spot was extremely valuable as Frank Moulton
now leads the points by a mere 12-point margin over Jonathon Emerson leading into
Group 2 Championship Day in two weeks.
While some divisions further accrued hefty point leads on Saturday afternoon, other
divisions like the Late Models continued to tighten up, which will certainly result in an
exciting end to the ‘Group 2’ season in two weeks.
Until then, there are still ‘Group 1’ champions to be crowned, and it will all go down this
Saturday, September 19th. Although Nick Hinkley has already mathematically clinched

the 207 Crate Modified championship, there are still 4 champions to be decided, with 10
points or less separating the leaders in both the Pro Stocks and Thunder 4 Minis.
The green flag flies at 2:00 pm and as always, adult admission is just $5 while kids 6
and under get in for free.

Thompson, CT — With the leaves already beginning to change and bringing with it the cooler nights, Thompson Speedway is set for the final midweek Wednesday night showdown this Wednesday, September 16. Headlined by the Eden Rafferty Attorneys Late Model Showdown, the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds, SK Light Modifieds, Street Stocks and Crown Vics all return with a 6:00pm start time!

Matt Lowinski-Loh stands tall atop the Late Model standings heading into their 50-lap extra-distance Eden Rafferty showdown this Wednesday. Lowinksi-Loh has won 3 of the five Late Model events at Thompson in a strong showing this season, currently 23-points ahead of defending track champion Jake Johnson. Alongside the two leaders, top rookie Travis Hydar, Jared Mataras, Jason Williams, Jared Roy and fellow rookie Shaun Kekacs are all expected to go the distance on Wednesday while Jacob ‘Rowdy’ Burns will be among those looking to invade and steal the spotlight this week!

Keith Rocco remains the main to beat in the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds, currently leading defending division champion Todd Owen by sixteen points. Rocco has been on a roll winning three of six events so far with Owen, Danny Cates and Bryan Narducci sweeping in to steal the others away! The showstopping division is set for another wild 50-lap trophy dash this week.

Young phenom Kevin Davis remains atop the SK Light Modified standings and looks to nail down his fourth win in the open-wheeled division on the final Wednesday night show of the season! Last year’s top rookie Austin Goff has keep his name up front all season long as well, taking a win and currently trailing Davis by 37-points in the tally. RJ Marcotte has been the only other winner in the division which has grown to a strong showing in each event this season.

The Street Stocks also return for the final Wednesday night under the lights with Ryan Lineham firmly in command of the ranking. Running a more open rulebook this season has called in some of the region’s top talent with Lineham proving the man to beat week in and week out. Jared Soucy, Al Stone III, Mike Viens and Nick Anderson are among those who’ve been in the mix all season long and look to topple the King this time around.

While they don’t count points, the Crown Vics return to have the most fun on Wednesday. Their 20-lap sprint kicks off feature racing on Wednesday with the division looking to crown it’s fifth different winner this season and knock two-time and defending race winner Jack Emerson off the top spot!

Thompson Speedway roars back to life on Wednesday, September 16 for the Eden Raferty Attorneys Fall Showdown Late Model Special! The Late Models take center stage in their extra-distance showdown alongside the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds, SK Light Modifieds, Street Stocks and Crown Vics with a 6:00pm Post Time.

The ARCA Menards Series returns to one of the most historic venues in stock car racing on Saturday, September 12, as Salem Speedway hosts the Spruce 212. The event will mark the 112th ARCA Menards Series race at Salem Speedway since 1955, more than any other track in series history. To commemorate the milestone, the traditional race distance has been extended by 12 laps to 212 laps and 117.66 miles around the high-banked 0.555-mile asphalt oval. The event will also make television history as the first ARCA Menards Series short-track race televised live on over-the-air network television, with FOX carrying the race live beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Musco Lighting has enhanced Salem’s lighting system for the national television debut, including the addition of two LED light towers to better illuminate the speedway’s demanding 35-degree corners.

The Spruce 212 arrives at a critical point in the ARCA Menards Series championship battle. Jake Bollman, driver of the No. 20 Nitro Motorsports Toyota, enters Salem with an eight-point advantage over teammate Thomas Annunziata in the standings. Bollman has collected four runner-up finishes this season but is still searching for his first career series victory, while Annunziata is looking for his first ARCA win on an oval after victories at Lime Rock Park in each of the last two seasons. Several other proven winners headline the 25-car entry list, including Max Reaves, Carson Brown, and Tristan McKee. Brown comes to Salem fresh off a victory at DuQuoin, while McKee won in his most recent national series start at Madison International Speedway. Reaves, meanwhile, returns to a track where he led 111 laps last season before a late crash ended a potential victory bid.

The depth of the field adds plenty of local and regional interest as well. Will Kimmel of Sellersburg, Indiana, Mike Basham of Henryville, Indiana, and Brayton Laster of Greenwood, Indiana are among the Indiana-based competitors entered, while veteran names such as Brad Smith, Ed Pompa, Takuma Koga, Michael Maples and Alex Clubb add experience to the lineup. The CR7 Motorsports organization will field entries for Matt Kemp and Landon S. Huffman, with Huffman substituting for Jason Kitzmiller. The official entry list also includes Bounty Rookie Challenge contenders Reaves, Bollman, Gavan Boschele, Brown, Taylor Mayhew, McKee, Jeff Maconi, Quinn Davis, Austin Vaughn, Huffman and Ben Peterson.

Salem’s reputation has been built on fast, physical racing, and Saturday’s format should once again place a premium on patience, tire management and track position. The Spruce 212 will feature scheduled breaks at laps 75 and 150, when teams may change tires, add fuel and make adjustments or repairs. Salem has also produced plenty of late-race drama, with ARCA events at the track going to overtime on 14 previous occasions. The current qualifying record belongs to Chandler Smith, who turned a lap of 16.844 seconds at 118.618 mph in 2018, while Tom Hessert III holds the Salem race record at 95.736 mph, set in 2014. Saturday’s program also includes Crown Vic Big Track competition, with the 50-lap feature scheduled for 5:30 p.m., followed by the ARCA driver autograph session from 6:45-7:30 p.m. and the green flag for the Spruce 212 at 8 p.m. ET.

Key Storylines:

History on the High Banks
Saturday’s Spruce 212 will be the 112th ARCA Menards Series race at Salem Speedway, the most of any track in series history. To recognize that milestone, the traditional 200-lap distance has been extended to 212 laps. Salem’s steep 35-degree banking, narrow groove and long ARCA history make this one of the most distinctive races on the schedule.

Championship Battle Tightens Up
Jake Bollman enters Salem with just an eight-point lead over Thomas Annunziata in the ARCA Menards Series standings. Bollman has four runner-up finishes this season but is still chasing his first career series win, while Annunziata is looking for his first oval victory. With Salem serving as Race 18 of 20, every position could have major championship implications.

Can Max Reaves Finish the Job This Time?
Max Reaves may have unfinished business at Salem. He led 111 laps in the 2025 race before a crash with 27 laps remaining left him with a career-worst 18th-place finish. Reaves has since established himself as one of the top paved short-track racers in the series, with five such victories, and enters Salem looking to rebound from a disappointing 17th at DuQuoin.

Brown and McKee Bring Winning Momentum
Pinnacle Racing Group teammates Carson Brown and Tristan McKee both arrive with recent victories. Brown won last weekend at DuQuoin and has finished in the top three in nearly every start this season, while McKee won his most recent national series start at Madison. McKee also leads the ARCA Menards Series East standings by one point entering that tour’s finale at Bristol.

A National Television First for ARCA
The Spruce 212 will make history as the first ARCA Menards Series short-track race televised live on over-the-air network television, airing on FOX at 8 p.m. ET. Musco Lighting added two LED light towers to help illuminate Salem’s high-banked corners for the national broadcast, giving one of ARCA’s oldest venues one of its biggest stages ever.

Connor Rueda Steals Alera Group Street Stock Triple Crown

Barre, VT – It was an action-packed afternoon of racing at Thunder Road Sunday, starting with two rained out NBT Bank features from Thursday. The Maplefields/Irving Late Models made history to start Sunday’s showcase with a long green flag run setting up a fan-favorite finish. Early polesitters Stephen Donahue and Darrell Morin slipped back after lap 20, setting up a four-car, side-by-side battle between Stephen Martin, Chris Pelkey, Taylor Hoar and Marcel Gravel. As Pelkey began to drive away, Hoar broke past the boys to chase down the #64 on the highside.

The lap 54 caution saw Stephen Donahue and Scott Coburn spin in turn three to end both their days ahead of the Five Star Roofing feature later on leaving one final restart. Pelkey picked the high groove with Hoar down low as the EastRise Credit Union Dodge Charger came to life and drove off with the win. Taylor Hoar joins Tracie Bellerose as the only female winners in the Maplefields/Irving Late Models and the first since July 31, 2003. Chris Pelkey took second-place with Stephen Martin coming home third.

The Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors also wowed the crowd with their rain-delayed NBT Bank 50-lap Challenge. The field ballooned to include several late arrivals and some quickly repaired Bolduc Metal Recycling Enduro teams. After a relatively clean run for the Road Warriors, Eddie Thompson reigned supreme with Branden Premont and Nick Copping following him across the line.

The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers dove into the first Five Star Roofing trophy dash of the afternoon. Karsen Murphy led from the drop of the green flag while a pair of big-time run ins with the turn one wall ruined the day for Travis Patnoe and Mike Billado as the Tigers approached the halfway point. Murphy and Ty Delphia kept a spirited side-by-side battle at the front as Eric Messier, Logan Powers and Chris LaForest kept their noses in the fight as well. In the end they had nothing for the Northfield kid with Karsen Murphy nailing down his second win of the season, Eric Messier took home second with Ty Delphia rounding out the podium.

The rk Miles Street Stocks were next on track with 50 laps to round out the Alera Group Triple Crown on Five Star Roofing night. ‘Flyin’ Fred Fleury quickly took over the lead with Logan Farnsworth and Jason P. Kirby in hot pursuit with Alera Group Triple Crown point leader Hayden Morris mired in traffic back in 23rd. Farnsworth nabbed the lead using the outside groove on lap 16 as Morris followed Paul Rocheleau in the same groove slowly but surely making up valuable points.

The lap 33 caution for fluid re-racked the field with Scott Weston taking the restart lead away from Farnsworth as the field stayed stacked two-by-two behind them. It looked like Hayden Morris had it all wrapped up until both his white #13VT and the #99VT of Fleury spun into the infield off turn one in the final lap. Scott Weston beat Logan Farnsworth back to the line under the checkered flags with Connor Rueda coming home third. Rueda’s third-place finish was enough to seal the deal, earning the East Barre teenager the 2026 Alera Group Triple Crown championship!

The Maplefields/Irving Late Models returned for the Five Star Roofing feature, their second 60-lap sprint around the Barre highbanks. Once Bobby Therrien got out around Darrell Morin he was lights-out on the field in the caution-free event. The former King of the Road took down his first win of the season over Scott Dragon and Jason Corliss at the line.

The Burnett Scrap Metals rounded out Five Star Roofing night with Caleb Cramer and Jacob Hall-Larson bringing the field to green. 20 laps on the board and Cramer led the early goings until Brayden Murphy fired up the inside groove to lead lap 5. From then on it was the thirty-three show out front with Murphy nabbing his first career win over Bill O’Connor and Trevor Jaques.

Thunder Road is back to Thursday night action this Thursday, August 13 for Vermont Tire & Service Night!
N. Woodstock, NH — Lucas Sidney got the jump on Jacob Roy under the initial green flag for the Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Strictly Mini feature. Roy reeled him back in with Donnie Baumgardner and Tyler Whittemore following close behind in the early stages. The four followed nose-to-tail until Baumgardner made it stick under Roy then held his own under Sidney through the final circuits. The two came across the line side-by-side with Baumgardner taking the win by a nose over Sidney and Whittemore beating Tyler Thompson and Roy back to the line. Whittemore would lose the trophy in technical inspection giving Thompson the podium spot.

The NELCAR Bandoleros showed up in spades with their biggest car count of the season so far at White Mountain. Chase Guilemette led the early way with a mirror full of Ella Smith through the first nine laps until the two made contact and spun in turn four. Smith’s night ended with rear-end issues while Guilemette restarted fourth and found his way back in the lead by the time they returned to the line. Chase Guilemette took the win with Addison Veinotte coming home second over Joe Bryant in third.

Josh Parsons launched from the pole position in the NELCAR Legends 25-lap feature event Saturday night but it was Jase Mongeon who nabbed the lead on lap 5. With ten laps remaining Mongeon, Parsons and David Stone III ran nose-to-tail through heavy lap traffic before finding daylight with five laps remaining. The first caution of the night took out Shane Crommett on the frontstretch to leave a dogfight to the end. Mongeon held on as Parsons shuffled back on the outside with Dylan Calabro and Adam Warnock joining David Stone in a fight for third. Jase Mongeon took down the win with Warnock powering up to finish second and Stone taking third at the line.

It was a rookie front row in the 1764 Sports Bar & Grill Late Models with Lukee Shannon and Jason Woodard leading the field to green. Woodard made the number one spot home with Kyle Goodbout close behind as fellow top-point chasers Kasey Beattie and Quinny Welch began to march through the field. Goodbout’s #17NH nabbed the lead on lap 17 under Woodard and held on until the lap 26 caution for Shannon’s spin off turn four. Goodbout maintained the lead under the return to green with Beattie making his way up to second in short order. Kyle Goodbout held on for the win even as Kasey Beattie kept pace to his inside door with Quinny Welch nabbing third in the final circuits over Colin Cornell.

The Farmyard Store Flying Tigers were next on track with Mike Clark getting the jump on polesitter Austin ‘AJ’ Sicard on the initial green flag. Kyle Willis also marched up behind Clark, looking for the lead underneath by lap three. Willis led lap six and began to run with Shane Sicard and Clark fighting toe-to-toe for second. After Clark made it out, Sicard went on the defensive with point leader Luke Peters and Owen Cheney battling side-by-side behind him for fourth. Kyle Willis nailed down his second career victory under the checkered flags with Mike Clark taking second over point leader Luke Peters in third.

The White Mountain Crown Vics rounded out Saturday’s racing action with a 25 lap main event. The yellow came out early for Jamie Peterson’s turn one spin with Ethan Williams and Kevin Willey leading the restart green with Williams running away while he can. Matthew Hurteau and Todd Derrington swapped plenty of paint for second while Kam Robinson’s hood flopped over the windshield sending cars spinning in turn four. Robinson returned with a ratchet-strap holding the hood down while Todd Derrington took over the lead up front. Todd Derrington dominated the second half to take his first Crown Vic win in just his second event over Mike Slingerland and Frank Sweeney.

White Mountain Motorsports Park will be taking the next two weeks off for a late summer break during NASCAR Weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and the 53rd Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway. Racing returns to White Mountain on Saturday, September 5 for the Ammonoosuc Asphalt Mini Late Model championship event. The 1764 Sports Bar & Grill Late Models, Farmyard Store Flying Tigers, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Strictly Minis, Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division and the NELCAR Legends and Bandoleros join the show on Labor Day weekend.

The racing portion of the event began with a 25-lap makeup feature for the Creative Cleanouts Sport Modifieds. Rookie Jaxson Moreside pulled ahead with the early advantage while Kyle Hewins powered to second. Multiple cars tangled at the tail end of the field on lap 3, resulting in a caution. Kyle Hewins got a leg up on the restart while Adam Chadbourne and Jaxson Moreside battled it out for second. The two drivers squared up again following a mid-race restart and collided while battling for position, ending Chadbourne’s race prematurely. Kyle Hewins maintained command through multiple late-race restarts, picking up the win and the points lead in the division. Faith Cleaves and Alec Brown followed, completing the top 3.

Ray Dinsmore pulled ahead with the early lead in the 25-lap makeup feature for the Portland Glass Strictly Streets. Trouble was brewing behind the leaders early as Joe Harriman took a spin on lap 5, resulting in a caution. Ray Dinsmore continued to pace the field on the restart while Ethan Dinsmore remained glued to his back bumper. The two leaders checked out to a half straightaway lead as the laps wound down and Ray Dinsmore successfully led the race wire-to-wire, picking up his second career win in the division. Ethan Dinsmore (best career finish) and Chuck Wagstaff rounded out the podium.

Nick Morton and Jonathon Emerson won the qualifying heat races for the Late Model 75, but it was Andrew McLaughlin who pulled to the early lead in the feature. Just as the field was settling down a little bit, Shane Clark took a spin on lap 22, collecting Chase Burgess. Andrew McLaughlin held a slight advantage on the restart, but Jonathon Emerson was right on his tail. Mark Lucas came to a sudden slow on lap 24, bunching up the tail-end of the field.

Dave Wiley, Frank Moulton, Jonathon Emerson & Ryan St. Clair

Jonathon Emerson was on a mission on the restart, taking sole possession of the lead on lap 26. Ryan St. Clair was also on the move after starting deep in the field, breaking the top 3 on lap 33. Jonathon Emerson was in his own zip code as the laps wound down, extending his lead to over 6 seconds with just 15 laps to go. That’s just when the fight for third began to heat up, with Frank Moulton making it a 3-way battle with Andrew McLaughlin and Ryan St. Clair. Moulton powered to the outside with ten laps to go, stealing two spots away in a single lap. Although Moulton was downright fast, he was no match for Jonathon Emerson, who took home his second consecutive victory in the division. Ryan St. Clair followed, rounding out the top 3.

Jason Sears, Gavin Gerow & James Grover

Nelsen Stevens pulled ahead with the early advantage over Hayden Carver in the 25-lap feature for the Dale’s Cash Fuel Roadrunners. Gavin Gerow was also climbing through the field, pulling to Jason Sears’ door on lap 15. Gerow completed the pass for third two laps later and quickly moved onto Hayden Carver, overtaking second with just 5 laps to go. Just as everyone thought Nelsen Stevens had the win in the bag, destruction struck on lap 22 as a lap car spun, leaving the leader with nowhere to go. The two drivers made hard contact in turn 1, resulting in a devastating end to the race for Stevens. Gavin Gerow pulled ahead on the restart and never looked back, securing the victory as Jason Sears and James Grover completed the podium.

By Jeff Brown, for Granite State Pro Stock Series

VALLÉE-JONCTION, QUE. — For a second straight race, Jimmy Renfrew, Jr. unseated the local favorite to make the most of his sparse appearances with the Granite State Pro Stock Series presented by Hudson International Speedway.

Renfrew topped defending race winner Alexendre Tardif Saturday evening to claim the $10,000 Langis Caron 150 at Autodrome Chaudière, becoming the first American driver to win a GSPSS race north of the border.

Tardif, who dominated last year’s inaugural GSPSS visit to “La Belle Province,” led a strong Canadian contingent aiming to keep the series’ trophy and the big pay day on the Canadian side of the international border.

But Renfrew, a former winner at the Quebec bullring, gave “Fireball” a run for his money in a briskly-paced feature around the high-banked quarter-mile.

The Candia, N.H. pilot prevailed over the long-distance feature, picking up his second straight GSPSS win and the fourth of his career, all coming on quarter-mile ovals.

Tardif, making only his second GSPSS start, held on for second, with fellow Quebecer Alex Labbé coming home third.

Evan Beaulieu ran into mechanical issues even before getting to the track, but the Maine native and his team made the most of an abbreviated practice day to run in the top three through the afternoon before settling for fourth.

Points leader Jeremy Sorel made up ground late in the going to come home fifth, building on his advantage over 2020 GSPSS champion Joey Polewarczyk.

Quebec Late Model standout Jeff Côté was sixth in his own GSPSS debut, followed by former NASCAR Truck Series race winner Raphaël Lessard. Fast qualifier Polewarczyk was eighth, with Canadians William Roberge and Michaël Lavoie rounding out the top ten.

After a busy mid-summer stretch, the GSPSS teams have nearly a month to prepare for back-to-back trips to Speedway presented by Bar Harbor Bank & Trust. The Stan Meserve Classic is scheduled for September 12, giving teams a tune-up before Speedway’s 200-lap season finale in early October. Details on the two trips to Maine will be released shortly.

Barre, VT – Officials with Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl are proud to announce that the Vermont Air National Guard (VTANG) has partnered to present Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Championship Night at the Nation’s Site of Excitement on Thursday, September 24.

The Vermont Air National Guard is the proud home of the 158th Fighter Wing based in Burlington, Vermont. Federally recognized in August of 1946, the Green Mountain Boys began their first flying mission with the famed F-47 Thunderbolts and historically became the first Air National Guard unit to base the new F-35A Lightning II, the most advanced and capable weapon system in the U.S. Air Force. Yet, despite the milestones technology reached over this half of a century, the one element that remains the same is the indomitable human spirit of the men and women that make today’s “Green Mountain Boys.”

VTANG is not just for those looking to pilot the nation’s most advanced jet-fighter technology, there are far reaching opportunities that can begin with taking the first step. With a part-time commitment, you’ll have the flexibility to live life on your terms – meaning more time with family, pursuing an education, maintaining a civilian career, or all the above. For more information visit www.158fw.ang.af.mil/CAREERS/JOIN-THE-TEAM/ or call (802) 468-8264.

“Thunder Road has been bringing Vermonters together for generations, making it a natural partnership for the Vermont Air National Guard,” said Lt. Col. Meghan Smith, VTANG Recruiting and Retention Commander. “We’re excited to connect with race fans, answer questions about serving in the Air National Guard, and show how military service can complement their education, career, and life right here in Vermont.”

“All of us at Thunder Road and the fine folks at Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel are excited to partner with the Vermont Air National Guard on Championship Night,” said Thunder Road General Manager Cale King. “We’re proud to help spread the word about the great opportunities available with VTANG and how to get started!”

Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Championship Night presented by the Vermont Air National Guard is set for Thursday, September 24 as the Maplefields/Irving Late Model, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger and rk Miles Street Stock champions are crowned. The non-point Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors will also be in attendance for the end of the championship grind with a special 6:00pm Start Time.
