OWEN GRENNAN RIDES BALDWIN, EVANS 77 JARZOMBEK 77 VICTORY TO 2026 RIVERHEAD RACEWAY NASCAR MODIFIED CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY

Owen Grennan of Glen Cove picked the right time of the season to start a win streak at Riverhead Raceway when he won his second straight Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified event in the annual Baldwin, Evans & Jarzombek 77 Saturday. With the victory Owen Grennan sewed up the 2026 Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Modified track championship one week after clinching the New York State championship of the NASCAR Local Racing Series powered by O’Reilly Auto Parts.

Owen Grennan’s night got off on the right foot, literally winning the HighMark Building Efficiency Fast Time Award with a qualifying lap of 11.855, edging out younger brother Chase who clocked in at 11.903. With the Baldwin, Evans & Jarzombek 77 the fourth race in the five race Crown Jewel Series for the Ted Christopher Cup, the field started straight up with the Grennan brothers bringing the field to green. What unfolded once the green flag finally waved after four previous attempts to run the race were washed out was history in the making as all 77-laps were clicked off without a single caution flag displayed.

Owen Grennan broke to the early race lead with Chase testing him not just on the initial start, but also during the early stages of the race. However, as the siblings logged laps Owen was able to start getting away from Chase and others in the top five including Dylan Slepian, Tom Rogers Jr. and Kyle Ellwood. Without any double file restarts after caution flags battles for position were minimal with Rogers and Ellwood racing for third, and Mark Stewart and Chris Young battling for sixth chief among them.

Owen Grennan, who came into the 77 with an 18-point advantage over Mark Stewart for the title had one more obstacle to overcome in the final segment of the race, lapped traffic that was heavier than normal with the absence of yellow flags. Like he had all season long Owen, a former two-time Crate Modified champion hit his marks, worked the traffic as he and his spotter Erick Zegel saw fit and drove off to his 5th career NASCAR Modified victory.

After winning the Cecil Palm Tree 66 on September 12th and now the Baldwin, Evans & Jarzombek 77 leading to the championship Owen just took it all in as he looked around the track clutching the checker flag after exiting his Dillner Precast Chevy. “When I was a kid racing a go-kart here, I’d sit up in these stands watching my heroes, wanting to do what they did and I am beyond happy to be standing here now”, Grennan, a schoolteacher by day reflected. Indeed, Owen’s story is prototypical of home track racers, started with the Eastern Kart Racing and East End Kart Racing groups at Riverhead before some Charger and Super Pro Truck racing yielded success. The quantum leap came with the Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modifieds where Owen remains the all-time leading winner with 23 leading to two championships.

“My father Danny, mom Kimberly, Chase and sister Kendall, this is a true family effort, from those Sunday afternoons here with go-karts right up until this moment. My grandmother, I don’t know how she hasn’t kicked us out of her garage, God bless her”. With his first NASCAR Modified championship under his belt there is one more mountain to climb in 2026 for Owen as he will try to clinch the Ted Christopher Cup with a win in the 10th annual Islip 300 Saturday November 14th.

Chase Grennan was runner-up with the Black Forest Auto entry with Dylan Slepian of Dix Hills completing the podium in third with the Rob Pelis owned, Eastport Feds Chevy. Kyle Ellwood of Riverhead was fourth with Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead fifth.

The Late Models were also on their collective best behavior Saturday, running off their final 25-lap feature event without interruption with “The Deputy” Brandon Turbush of Manorville scoring his second win of 2026. Allan Pedersen who came to the race 14-points back of championship leaders Dave Brigati of Calverton and Jeremy McDermott of Riverhead who were tied at the top, sat on the pole with Brandon Turbush to his right. When the dueling green flags waved Turbush was able to gain great bite on the outside to outrun Pedersen for the lead to start the race. Allan quickly tried a crossover move on Brandon off the fourth corner to start the second lap but to no avail. For the remainder of the race, Brandon Turbush steering the Lolly’s Hut entry was able to stay out front and earn his 6th career victory. Allan Pedersen of Center Moriches stayed close all race long before settling for second in the TJ’S Heros machine, while the returning Kyle Harvell of North Babylon was third in just his second race back in his sponsor wanted racer. With his 4th place effort, Jeremy McDermott sewed up his 9th career Late Model championship, tying former Figure Eight champion Roger Maynor of Bay Shore for the most championships in one division at Riverhead Raceway. Dave Brigati who was tied with McDermott coming into the race was 6th in the final rundown.

The mission for Michael Berner of Patchogue in the final 25-lap Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modified race of 2026 was simple, go out and win the race, the rest will fall into place, hopefully. With season long rivals AJ DeSantis of Yaphank and Richie Davidowitz of East Moriches tied for the championship lead entering the finale, Berner was four points back, he needed a win and some help too. He got both. Starting from the pole Berner raced his Planet Earth Recycling Chevy to the race lead, step one. Andrew Farnham who started in the front row quickly tucked into second and Berner needed Andrew there. With DeSantis third and Davidowitz fourth and a caution free race in the offering things were starting to come into focus for Berner, who if he could win would take control of the first tiebreaker with three wins to his rivals two each. As the laps clicked off and the field in single file formation and spreading apart from each other Michael Berner would score his 12th career win, a win that carried a lot of weight. With Berner winning and DeSantis third in the Tiana Shores Lawn & Tree Service Chevy at the finish they were tied in points, but Berner held the first tiebreaker 3 wins to 2. Andrew Farnham of Baldwin was runner-up with his LA Technology Group Chevy. Richie Davidowitz and Rat Pack Racing were fourth at the line placing them third in the season long championship.

Will “The Thrill” Farrell of Mastic might have waited a long time for his first career TK Figure Eight win but he sure wasn’t going to allow too much time to elapse before he claimed his second which he did Saturday in the 15-lap 2026 finale. Farrell, who came into the race tied for second in the championship hunt with Gary Fritz Jr. with the duo 8 back of Allan Pedersen for the title took the lead in an unwanted manner when his son Tyler, who was leading was caught up in a wreck with challenger Kim Hyde on lap 7. When the race resumed Will Farrell assumed the lead with championship rivals Fritz and Pedersen all over him over the second half of the race, Fritz hoping to win the race for his former crew chief Terry Fallon who passed away just couple of days prior. In the end Will Farrell and the Bobby’s One Stop Custom Exhaust & Automotive coupe sat in the winner’s circle with Gary Fritz Jr. of Mastic runner-up in the Goodfellas Auto Glass entry. Allan Pedersen of Center Moriches earned his first career track championship with his third-place tally in the Chris Elliott owned, Top Notch Performance Camaro. The race between Fritz and Pedersen was intense over the final three laps.

Jim Laird Jr, of Islip Terrace literally grew-up at Riverhead Raceway, tagging along with his grandparents Tony & Estelle Mastrangelo as they worked with the food services staff during the Barbara & Jim Cromarty era. Even back then Jim knew he wanted to race, win races and championships here. After 23 Blunderbust wins along the way, there was only one piece to the puzzle missing for Laird, a track championship. Saturday in perhaps the unlikeliest of ways, sitting in the pits while Matt Triola of Bay Shore won his third race of 2026., Jim Laird Jr. who enjoyed a very much needed 20-point lead coming into the 20-lap finale was a track champion. Matt Triola, running in his final Blunderbust race before retirement took the lead of the race during a 9th lap restart, racing to the outside of early pacesetter Tom Sullivan. Once Triola had the Cesspool Pros machine out front he’d drive to an emotional win. Tom Sullivan of Massapequa was runner-up in the Action Auto Wreckers racer, Anthony Capobianco of Islip Terrace, Laird’s son was an impressive third in the Gene’s 112 Auto Repair entry. During his championship interview, Jim Laird Jr. leaning on his Bulovas Restorations Caprice was speechless, perhaps at finally winning the Blunderbust title or maybe the manner in how he got there Saturday.

Entering the final 20-lap Super Pro Truck event of 2026, Frank Dumicich Jr of East Quogue held a slim 4-point edge over Mark Stewart of Riverhead, and just eight over his sister Erin Solomito of East Quogue. Just for some added fun, the front row of the feature saw Erin on the ole while Frank sat to her right, mark started deeper in the field. At the throw of the green Solomito took the race lead with Dumicich second while Stewart tried to claw his way towards the lead duo. The race took a long green flag run, which was just fine with Dumicich who would have been just fine with a caution free race. Then suddenly on lap 16, there it was, a caution, for Frank Dumicich Sr of all people who spun after contact in the fourth turn. When the field lined-up for the four-lap dash to the finish Dumicich Jr. actually took the lead from Solomito on lap 17, knowing his closest championship rival Stewart was now third right behind his sister. Unfazed and without a radio, Erin roared back out to the race lead re passing her brother while the field took the two to go signal, with Stewart trying to follow Erin under Frank. When the dust settled Erin Solomito in The Hydrant Hotel RAM earned her second win of 2026, the 8th of her career. Mark Stewart of Riverhead was second in the East Side Building Toyota, missing out by two points for the 2026 title. Frank Dumicich Jr. and his Okpetroleummarketplace.com Toyota team celebrated their second Super Pro Truck championship, their first since 2013 with a third-place finish. Erin Solomito’s team also won the Joe DiGangi Crew Chief of the Race award presented annually by Lou & Tracy Maestri.

Score one for the seasoned veterans in the 20-lap INEX Legend Race Car feature where Ray Fitzgerald of Manorville scored a milestone 10th career feature event win, holding off one of the many young up and coming talents in order to do so. The race got off to an auspicious start when a multi-car pile-up occurred coming to green, 2026 champion Riely O’Keefe feeling as though he triggered the mishap tapped his roof during the caution putting him to the rear while allowing those who could continue to maintain their positions. When the race did go green two of the elder statesmen in the INEX Legend Race Cars Ray Fitzgerald and Jim Sylvester ran one-two. as the laps clicked off, teenage driver Cillian Tennant inserted himself into the conversation or the win when he raced by Sylvester for second on lap 14. On lap 17 the third and final caution of the race waved setting up a double file restart between Fitzgerald and Tennant, with Riely O’Keefe back in the mix from the second row. When the green light came back on for the final few laps Tennant threw all he could at Fitzgerald for the lead but in the end, experience paid off for Ray Fitzgerald taking the win in the EP Milling & Sweeping machine. The win ties Ray for 8th on the all-time win list with Chris Young. Driving the race of his young and budding career, Cillian Tennant of Manorville settled for second in the Miller & Caggiano Attorney-At-Law coupe with Richie Davidowitz of East Moriches third in his Freddie & Megan Kraft backed racer. Riely O’Keefe of Manorville for the second time in three years celebrated post-race his INEX Legend Race Car championship.

Gabe Brown Wins 64th Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl in Thrilling Final Segment Showdown with Teammate Kaiden Fisher

Barre, VT – While certainly a contender, the fans who packed the stands at Thunder Road Sunday afternoon may not have had Gabe Brown as their top choice for the Vermont Milk Bowl win. Those that did celebrated alongside the team, those that didn’t may have been awe-struck, but everyone present had front row seats to one of the most thrilling Northfield Savings Bank Vermont Milk Bowls in recent memory.

Following the annual pomp and circumstance of driver introductions for the once-a-year-extravaganza, the opening 50-lap segment was stalled by two early cautions for the spinning Mike Rubalcaba on lap 2 and Keegan Lamson’s turn two dust-up three laps later. The remainder of the first segment was a dogfight between front-row starters Kaiden Fisher and Jason Corliss with Fisher taking the opening round.

The second segment, typically the most feared of the three with the full-field invert, went caution-free with former Oxford Plains Speedway champion Trevor Sanborn leading all fifty laps to pocket $2,500 in Lap Money and take the win in his first Milk Bowl start with Jimmy Hebert coming out with the lead in the overall with fourteen points. Gabe Brown and Brandon Gray both sat two points behind, tied with 16 points apiece ahead of the tied Fisher and Corliss who each earned 17, respectively.

It all came down to the final 50-lap segment in the Northfield Savings Bank Vermont Milk Bowl. Teammates Jesse Switser and Colin Cornell went toe-to-toe at the front of the pack until Switser took over with Gray, and brother/sister Justin Prescott and Taylor Hoar all under a blanket. It all reached a breaking point on lap 36 with Gray and Prescott making contact to call out the lap 36 caution that found both on the rear and cost Gray the Milk Bowl. With fourteen laps remaining, Brown and Fisher sat among the top-five and the two Factory 47 teammates left all caution to the wind in their tooth-and-nail fight to the end.

Brown came sideways across the nose of Fisher under the checkered flag earning the 64th Northfield Savings Bank Vermont Milk Bowl win and a $15,680 check to match! With the win, Brown became the first out-of-towner to take the Green Mountain State classic since Eddie MacDonald’s win in 2014 after twelve years of Vermont winners. Fisher took second-place in his career-best Milk Bowl finish with Jimmy Hebert’s third-place run a strong showing in just his second ACT Late Model start of the year.

The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers were no less drama-filled in the second, and final, 40-lap segment of their Mini Milk Bowl. One of the top runners was washed away early with Cameron Ouellette suffering a flat right-rear tire to end his day, and a run at Mini Milk Bowl win number two, on lap one. From then on it was a caution-free affair that saw Logan Powers drive up through the pack from a 17th-place starting spot to claim both the segment win and the Mini Milk Bowl overall in his Dick McCabe-inspired #0ME machine.

The rk Miles Street Stocks saw a first-time Mini Milk Bowl winner on Northfield Savings Bank Sunday. It was all going Hayden Morris’ way after winning Segment #1 before it all went sideways in Segment #2 with the overall leader spinning into the infield on lap 23 to end his day and leaving it all up to a hard-charging Erik Steel. Steel took second the day before, battling up from starting 17th on the grid to take the second-segment win over polesitter Mike ‘The Biffer’ Gay and claim the overall win with just three points.

Apparent Burnett Scrap Metal Road Warrior Mini Milk Bowl victor Mike ‘Slingshot’ Slingerland was stripped of his win in post-race technical inspection for having too much camber, gifting the two-segment, low-point win to Taylor Sayers of Barre. The Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division also didn’t disappoint with top-running Gracen Gorham facing mechanical woes and Evan Folsom’s late-race spin taking both out of contention. Northfield’s Chloe Doyle took a runner-up finish in the final to lock down the overall win in the Kids class.

The 64th Northfield Savings Bank Vermont Milk Bowl officially wraps up the 2026 season at the Nation’s Site of Excitement, Barre’s Thunder Road. The weekly warriors will be celebrated at the annual Banquet of Champions on Saturday, December 12 held at the Barre Auditorium. The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour continues down the 2026 championship trail in two weeks at New Hampshire’s Center of Speed, Lee USA Speedway. The Oktoberfest 150 on Sunday, October 18 will set the stage for one final showdown at Seekonk Speedway for the annual Haunted Hundred championship event on Saturday, October 24.

Aqua Duck Water Supply; Bruce George Paving and Excavating and Valley Speed have all stepped to the plate and made the race pay $900 plus a $100 voucher back to 20^th. It will be $1,000 back to 15^th with $5,000 going to the winner.

The Fall Brawl will be another exciting event at the tight 1/4-mile facility is any indication, this race will be a can’t miss race of the season. For everyone race time has changed for this event to 3:00pm. This is always a highlighted event on the Fall race calendar.

Kyle Strohl of Palmerton, PA, the 2026 Mahoning Modified Division champion is looking forward to the event.

“Anything can happen at Mahoning,” explained Strohl. “The track has multiple grooves, and because of its size, it really levels the playing field. You have to have a good-handling car, but you also need to be patient and drive precisely to get the job done. It’s a lot of fun for the driver, and because of the size of the track, the fans can see everything.”

A strong contingent of Race of Champions Modified Series competitors will head into the event.

Qualifying for the 75-lap Series opener will begin at 3:00pm on Saturday, October 10 alongside a full card of Mahoning Valley Speedway racing.

HERMON, ME. — A week before the biggest race of the year for the Granite State Pro Stock Series presented by Hudson International Speedway, the series’ all-time win leader served notice that he will be tough to beat.

D.J. Shaw topped a 25-car field to win Saturday’s Stan Meserve Classic at Speedway Presented by Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, the 128-lap prelude to next Sunday’s $15,000-to-win Bar Harbor Bank & Trust 200.

The Center Conway, N.H., veteran, already twice a GSPSS feature winner in 2026, added Speedway’s revived Pro Stock schedule to his touring repertoire this season. Shaw, a former touring winner at Speedway in 2018, won Speedway’s season opener before placing second in the GSPSS’ June visit to the oval a week later.

Shaw blistered the track in time trials, topping Mainers Matt Bourgoine and Joe Pastore, Jr. to take the pole for the 128-lap feature. And while several of his rivals faced hurdles from spins to mechanical issues, Shaw kept his nose clean out front.

Youngster Sylas Ripley gave chase in the closing laps, but Shaw nipped the rising star by a quarter of a second to score his third win of the season at Speedway and his third win under the GSPSS banner in 2026.

Ripley finished second, a GSPSS career best, two seconds ahead of reigning series champ Cole Robie, who started 18th and charged to finish on the podium.

Former Speedway winner Garrett Hall was fourth, with 2024 GSPSS titlist Casey Call shaking off his own issues to finish a strong fifth in a new Dale Shaw Race Cars chassis.

Maine veteran Ryan Deane placed sixth, with New Brunswick racer Ryan Messer making his first American Pro Stock touring start with a seventh-place run. Joey Polewarczyk was eighth ahead of June winner Austin Teras, with championship leader Jeremy Sorel rounding out the top ten.

Shaw’s 15th career GSPSS checkered flag marked the first time a driver from outside the state of Maine has won a GSPSS event hosted in Maine since his own win at Wiscasset Speedway in 2016.

Sorel remains atop the points standings with two races remaining to settle the championship.

The GSPSS teams have a week to regroup before next weekend’s Bar Harbor Bank & Trust 200 at Speedway, with $15,000 plus lap-leader money in store for the race winner. Qualifying for the penultimate race of the 2026 season is slated for Saturday with the feature event on Sunday afternoon. Full details for next weekend’s event will be released shortly.

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – For many seasons, drivers who race at NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway have the opportunity to not only race for the lucrative track point fund monies, but also for the NASCAR Local Racing Series powered by O’Reilly Auto Parts National, Regional and State championships as well.

For the just completed season, it has paid off in a big way for Grandview Speedway track regular Jeff Strunk of Bechtelsville, Pa., as he has been announced as the 2026 NASCAR Local Racing Series Division I Northeast Region Champion for the first time in his career representing Grandview Speedway, a title that will reward Strunk with a hefty $15,000 bonus from NASCAR, as well as capturing another NASCAR Local Racing Series Division I Pennsylvania State Championship crown.

Strunk’s total rewards from NASCAR in addition to the $15,000 for being the Division I Northeast Region Champion, include $1200 for placing third in Grandview’s track standings, an OMP fire suit for being the NASCAR Division I Pennsylvania State Champion, and he will be going to the NASCAR Local Racing Series banquet in Charlotte in November!

The NASCAR Local Racing Series Regional and State championships are determined by using a driver’s best fourteen finishes during the season, regardless of how many events a driver competes in during the course of a race season.

For Strunk, Grandview Speedway hosted eighteen regular Saturday night NASCAR Local Racing series feature races, plus two mid-week Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Modified specials which also carried NASCAR points, enabling Strunk to compete in a total of twenty NASCAR point races at just one venue during the season, and still compete for and win the NASCAR Division I Northeast Region Championship.

The chase for the Northeast regional crown came down to the final week of points, with Strunk and Autodrome Granby regular Samuel Charland of Bon-Conseil, Quebec, Canada ending the season in a tie, each with 364 points.

The first tie breaker by NASCAR rules was feature wins, with each driver having three, so the second tie breaker was used based on points earned on each driver’s starting position in their three feature wins, with Strunk winning that tie-breaker, having started all three of his feature wins from ninth or further back in the starting line-up.

The final Northeast region standings were extremely close, as just four points behind the top two drivers in the standings and finishing third was 2026 T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment Grandview Speedway Modified Champion Logan Watt of Boyertown, Pa., giving yet another Grandview Speedway regular a top regional finish, which was worth a bonus of $3500!

It was yet another solid season for Jeff Strunk at the one-third-of-a-mile high-banked Grandview oval, scoring three feature wins, eleven top five finishes, and thirteen top ten finishes during the Grandview Speedway point season, on his way to finishing third in the track’s weekly standings, in which he had a shot at the title up until the final point night, and the two mid-week Thunder on the Hill special events (which do not count in the race for the track title), helping to propel him to the Northeast region and Pennsylvania State championship crowns.

“It will be a special moment representing Grandview Speedway at the NASCAR banquet in a season in which we have honored Theresa Rogers,” stated Strunk, referring to the late track owner who passed away during the middle part of the 2026 season, and stating that she was “a very special woman,” according to Strunk.

“Earning this championship and attending this banquet will be a very special night in my racing career,” said Strunk who is no stranger to winning and receiving honors, with eleven track championships at Grandview Speedway alone, in addition to a total of 100 career Grandview feature wins (82 Saturday night NASCAR Local Racing Series victories plus 18 Thunder on the Hill Series feature wins).

Even more satisfying for Strunk was the fact that the success this season was accomplished with a new race team of owners that were put together right before the start of the 2026 season, which includes Keith Hoffman, Todd Baer and Danny Hieber (HBH Racing), “who are very pleased with outcome of our year together,” said Strunk, in addition to the fact that while the ownership team was new for Strunk, his core group of garage help and race night pit crew members have been with him for a long time, which made the season results satisfying for the veteran driver.

“Racing at Grandview is harder than ever before,” mentioned Strunk, “years ago you could outwork or outdrive your competition, but now with virtually everyone having the same good equipment, and with Grandview’s handicapping system, you need to have luck on your side and be fast each week to have any success.”

Strunk “Is very grateful to Grandview and to NASCAR for providing a driver with the opportunity to race for the additional prize money and championship honors.”

Strunk would also like to send out a “Huge thank you to his team owners, crew members, and great race team sponsors for all their support this year, without them this all would not have been possible, and he will be very grateful to represent and honor them and Grandview Speedway at the NASCAR banquet.”

Jeff Strunk will be officially crowned for his championship on Friday, November 20, during the NASCAR Local Racing Series awards banquet to be held in the Crown Ballroom of the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Additional Grandview drivers will be recognized by the NASCAR Local Racing Series as well, including first year Grandview regular Anthony Perrego of Montgomery, N.Y. who has been named as the Division I Northeast Region Rookie of the Year worth a $1500 bonus, plus Perrego gets $450 for his sixth place finish in Grandview’s track standings.

Other Grandview drivers with top placings in the final Division I Northeast region standings include Boyertown, Pa. driver Logan Watt who finished third and will receive $3500, plus an additional $3500 for being the Grandview track champion along with a new helmet, Lake Ariel, Pa. ace Eddie Strada who placed seventh in regional points worth $1300, plus $2000 for his second place finish in Grandview points, and finishing ninth in Northeast Region points was Louden Reimert of Oley, Pa. who will receive $1100 for his regional points finish and $800 from NASCAR for his fifth place Grandview point finish.

Additionally, the NASCAR Local Racing Series will do a payout to the top ten drivers in the Grandview track point standings, with Division I drivers (Modified) dividing up $10,000, while Division II drivers (Sportsman) will divide up a $4000 payout, including $1000 to T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment Sportsman Champion Joe Toth of Upper Makefield, Pa.

The championship implications were plentiful entering the My Guy Auto Supply NAPA of Riverhead Eddie Partridge 206 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at Riverhead Raceway Saturday. By the time the long night of racing was in the books, the championship picture became clearer not only for the 2026 WMT championship, but all three Riverhead Raceway divisions running in their penultimate races as well. Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, NY, celebrated his 34th birthday in style by winning the My Guy Auto Supply NAPA of Riverhead Eddie Partridge 206 for his fifth WMT win of the season.

After pole sitter Matt Hirschman paced the race for the first 20-laps, Patrick Emerling roared to the race lead in his USNE Power machine and never looked back surviving numerous restarts along the way and one stiff challenge from rookie sensation Paulie Hartwig III. During a late race restart Hartwig was able to outrun Emerling for the lead before Patrick was able to loop back around Paulie to take back control of the race. When a late race caution forced the final restart with 15-laps remaining Patrick Emerling hit his marks and drove off to his 14th career WMT victory, his second at the Riverhead bullring. The win, coupled with Austin Beers 8th place finish pushes Emerling’s championship advantage to 30 heading to the WMT finale at Thompson Motorsports Park in October.

Hartwig of Galloway, NJ was runner-up in the Professional Therapy LLC Chevy, while Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville completed the podium in third with the Phoenix Communications entry. Justin, making his 250th career start won the American Racer Pole Award in qualifying but then spun a 10 on the wheel during introductions. Drawing first, Bonsignore drew a 9 and a gasp came over not only he and his Ken Massa Motorsports crew, but his many family and friends in the stands. Tyler Rypkema of Owego NY was fourth in the Northeast Drilling racer, while home grown Eric Goodale of Riverhead was fifth in the GAF Roofing Chevy.

The Late Models went 25-laps for their feature on the night with defending champion Gerard Giordano of Freeport making his first visit to victory lane in 2026. Early on CJ Lehmann paced the race over Ryan Zukowski with the first half of the race clicking off without incident. On lap 11 Kyle Harvell making his first start in quite some time spun off the second turn drawing a caution. On the ensuing restart Lehmann and Zukowski slipped up the hill coming to the green to resume the race with Allan Pedersen turning hard left to pass both to the inside. From laps 13 through 15 being out front was not the place to be as a series of missteps dampened not only the night of Pedersen and Lehmann, who got together for a caution and restarted at the rear. Keith Rotzi led the 14th & 15th laps with Zukowski and Brandon Turbush racing hard for second behind Keith and they’d get together racing into the third turn to draw a lap 15 caution. On the restart that followed Gerard Giordano worked the outside groove to make his way by Rotzi for the lead, a lead the 2025 Late Model champion would never surrender in his Armen Freight Chevy. Keith Rotzi of Islip settled for second still seeking his first career win on the Rudi’s Bar & Grill entry, while Dave Brigati of Calverton rallied back for third in his Coors Light silver bullet. Heading to this Saturday September 26th Brigati and eight-time champion Jeremy McDermott of Riverhead are tied for the LM championship, Dave holds the tiebreaker with two wins to Jeremy’s one. Brigati a former Charger, Super Pro Truck and Crate Modified champion has never won a Late Model crown.

Richie Davidowitz of East Moriches won the INEX legend Race Car battle Saturday when he topped their 20-lap feature event while runner-up Riely O’Keefe of Manorville won the season long war officially clinching the 2026 championship. Davidowitz raced to the early advantage from the outside pole over Ray Fitzgerald who started from the pole however, Fitzgerald went right back at Davidowitz moving by for the lead on lap 2. After riding behind “Fitzy” for four lap Davidowitz snuck under Ray in the second corner to reclaim the lead, this time for good on lap 7. Not even a lap 17 double file restart would rattle the all-time leading Legend Race Car winner Davidowitz. A Joe Cooke Jr. and Mike Renn crash off the fourth turn slowed the race on lap 17, lining not only Fitzgerald up alongside Davidowitz, but it put seven-time 2026 winner Riely O’Keefe right on his rear bumper in third. O’Keefe, who started 10th was able to slip under Fitzgerald when the race resumed to start lap 18 and was looking to use the same move on the leader. Not so fast Richie Davidowitz proclaimed when the driver of the Freddie & Megan Kraft sponsored car, perhaps the oldest car in the field drove off to his second win of 2026, 31st of his career. Riely O’Keefe and his Jim Sylvester owned, Joe Ryan Race Cars team celebrated his first career track championship with a runner-up finish while Anthony Marsh of Riverhead made some late race moves during the final restart for third in his East West Pest Control coupe.

After the 20-lap Street Stock feature was pushed back to run after the WMT race due to Flo Racing time constraints, the troops came out chomping at the bit with a rough and tumble race ensuing. When the checker flag waved Brandon Hubbard of Mastic had scored his 4th win of 2026. During the race there were six position changes among the top two spots with Dennis Kurras leading Brandon Hubbard for two laps before championship leader Jarrod Hayes raced by Hubbard for second on the third circuit. Hubbard, who was in the thick of the 2026 title fight with Hayes before a late race flat the previous race slowed his effort raced his way back by Hayes on lap 6, with Kurras enjoying every minute of what was going on behind him. Hubbard, knowing he had to extract every point out of this race after his misfortune the week before slipped by Kurras to the inside in turn three to take the lead on lap 11. Hayes was quick to respond to the opening under former leader Kurras sticking his nose in there to race to second on lap 12. Kurras quickly served notice back he wasn’t finished trying to win his second career race when he went back by Hayes on lap 14 to the inside off turn two on lap 14. Two laps later Hayes would make another pass of Kurras for second which was just fine with Brandon Hubbard in the Top Twenty Motorsports Chevy who drove off to his 7th career victory. Jarrod Hayes of Calverton was runner-up with the North Fork Sanitation entry, giving him a somewhat comfortable 24-point margin over Hubbard heading to championship Sunday, Hubbard will hold the first tiebreaker with four wins to three for Hayes.

Sal Accardi Jr. of Deer Park led all 15-laps to win the Eddie Partridge Vintage All Stars main event in a former Tom Baldwin machine. Accardi and John Jasinski brought the 10-car field to green with Sal pacing the race over John. Things were going according to plan for Accardi as he had just enough of a cushion over Jasinski. However, suddenly Sal’s car started to step out on him off the fourth corner to start the 10th lap. A long time oval, as well drag racer, Accardi reeled in his A-Plus Auto Salvage Pontiac and settled in to lead the final few laps for the win. John Jasinski of Flanders was second in the Boots Built Vega, Tom Pickerell of Centerport was third in the Kevin Bacik owned Cavalier.

N. Woodstock, NH — The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour returned to White Mountain Motorsports Park for the second and final time in the 2026 season for the 48th Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Fall Foliage 200. Twenty-nine teams made the trip to one of New England’s most scenic facilities with just one standing tall to join one of the region’s most iconic wins list in the 48th Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Fall Foliage 200!

White Mountain track championship point leader Quinny Welch was looking forward to the extra-distance showdown before his rear-end gave out in the second practice to end his day. Kasey Beattie, current runner-up in the season-long White Mountain standings, Colin Cornell and rookie Lukee Shannon were left prepared to defend the home turf against the ACT invaders.

Double-duty driver Trevor Sanborn, Thunder Road hot-shoe Stephen Martin and Milton CAT championship chaser Erick Sands took the three heat race wins while ACT point leader Gabe Brown dominated the consolation race. At the start it was former Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour champions Nick Sweet and DJ Shaw who brought the twenty-eight-car starting field to the green flag.

Shaw quickly brought his Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Ford Mustang to bear on the outside groove, launching to the lead and making hay ahead of Beattie and Sweet’s side-by-side battle for second. Shaw worked the bottom groove while Beattie stayed high, wide and handsome on the outside before Sanborn called out the first caution with a blown ignition ending his day in the RSB Chassis Chevy Camaro.

As with the Labor Day Classic at Thunder Road, officials paused the action at lap 50 for the planned fuel stop to ensure teams could go the distance and refuel in a safe and controlled manner. Beattie continued to show the way out front as Shaw was forced to hold off the likes of top ACT point drivers Jesse Switser and Kaiden Fisher while point leader Gabe Brown was forced pit-side with power steering issues on lap 112, returning to action on lap 142 after repairs.

By then, fate was sealed up front for Kasey Beattie who faced his final serious challenge on the lap 195 restart. With Jesse Switser to his inside, Beattie lit the fuse and launched like a rocket sled on rails in the outside groove to take his second career Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour victory in the Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Fall Foliage 200! DJ Shaw got under Jesse Switser in the final corner to take second at the line.

Erick Sands finished fourth and with his fifth-place finish, Kaiden Fisher earned the 2026 Brookside Equipment Sales Triple Crown! Riverside Speedway regulars Jamie Swallow, Jr. and Jeff Marshall finished sixth and seventh followed by top Quebecer Jonathan Bouvrette in eighth. Brian Whalley brought the HK Race Department Chevy to ninth with Cole Littlewood earning his second top-ten finish of the season in tenth.

The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour returns to Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vermont for the 64th Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank on Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4. The Toughest Short Track Stock Car Race in North America will pit the best of the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour against the best of Thunder Road’s weekly warriors and all other invaders for a chance at the $12,000 winner’s share and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to Kiss the Cow in victory lane!

Chaz Briggs Scores First Career Division Championship

The 2026 race season is beginning to wind down at Wiscasset Speedway, and
champions are starting to be crowned every week. This past Saturday, the track hosted
a full Group 2 program that included the Dale’s Cash Fuel Roadrunners, Creative
Cleanouts Sport Modifieds, Wood Pellet Warehouse Late Models and the
“championship race” for the Portland Glass Strictly Streets.

The afternoon kicked off with a 30-lap Pepsi spotlight feature for the Roadrunners.
Unfortunately, the race started out with chaos as Eric Powell took a spin on the initial
lap, making hard contact with the turn 3 wall. This resulted in a red flag, and the
cautions kept coming, resulting in a slow start to the race. Once the field settled, multi-
time race winner Gavin Gerow pulled ahead with the advantage over Hayden Carver.
Karigan Glasier was also coming to life in the second half of the race, breaking the top 3
on lap 16. Gavin Gerow maintained command through the remainder of the feature,
picking up his fifth win of the season and further extending his points lead in the division
while Hayden Carver and Karigan Glasier rounded out the top 3.

Entering the feature race for the Strictly Streets, Chaz Briggs held a 6-point lead over
Zack Emerson. Meanwhile, Dale Lawrence pulled ahead with the early advantage in the
30-lap feature, although the beginning of the race was riddled with cautions once again.
Chaz Briggs was involved in a lap 2 pile-up and was forced to restart at the rear, but
multiple cautions that followed brought him closer to the front once again. Through the
chaos, Ethan Dinsmore managed to snag the lead over Shawn Emery, who avoided the
chaos at the front of the field.

Dale Lawrence took a spin with just 4 laps to go, resulting in a caution. Shawn Emery
was forced to stop at the backstretch wall due to some smoke coming out of the rear of
his car, but race control deemed there were no leaks and simply smoke, allowing him to
stay on the track. While battling for position on the restart, Ethan Dinsmore and Ray
Dinsmore made contact, collecting Chuck Wagstaff, Justin Gailloux and Mac Hannan,
Jr. in their wake. Shawn Emery pulled ahead on the restart, while it was a dog fight fron
second on back. Emery scored the win, the second of his career, while Zack Emerson
and Dan Trask rounded out the podium. Chaz Briggs, who finished fourth, was deemed
the 2026 division champion – the first of his career after racing at both Beech Ridge
Motor Speedway and Wiscasset Speedway for over a decade.

Scott Tucker made hard contact with the turn 2 wall on the initial start of the 30-lap
Sport Modified feature, resulting in a red flag. Faith Cleaves held the upper hand on the
restart, but both Jaxson Moreside and Kyle Hewins were right there, making it a 3-way
battle for the top spot. After a handful of laps, Hewins dropped back slightly, leaving
Cleaves and Moreside door-to-door at the front of the pack. The leaders battled it out
lap after lap and left the inside line open on lap 23. Kyle Hewins took full advantage of
the opportunity, powering to the lead while Faith Cleaves settled into second. Multi-time
champion Adam Chadbourne entered the frame with two laps to go, stealing third away
from Jaxson Moreside. Kyle Hewins held strong at the front of the pack, scoring his fifth
win of the season and further cementing his hefty points lead, while Faith Cleaves and
Adam Chadbourne completed the top 3.

Chase Burgess pulled out to a sizable early lead in the 40-lap feature for the Late
Models. Shane Clark was also on the move early, breaking the top 3 on lap 8. There
were heated battles all over the track from third on back, with Jonathon Emerson
breaking free on lap 14. Shane Clark tracked down Chase Burgess as the laps wound
down, pulling to Burgess’ outside door with just 10 laps to go. Clark completed the pass
two laps later, and the battle for second tightened up as both Frank Moulton and
Jonathon Emerson put the heat on Chase Burgess. Jonathon Emerson completed the
pass with 3 laps to go as Frank Moulton followed in succession. The two drivers went
door-to-door until the bitter end, with Moulton beating Burgess to the line by a nose as
Shane Clark captured the victory. The spot was extremely valuable as Frank Moulton
now leads the points by a mere 12-point margin over Jonathon Emerson leading into
Group 2 Championship Day in two weeks.
While some divisions further accrued hefty point leads on Saturday afternoon, other
divisions like the Late Models continued to tighten up, which will certainly result in an
exciting end to the ‘Group 2’ season in two weeks.
Until then, there are still ‘Group 1’ champions to be crowned, and it will all go down this
Saturday, September 19th. Although Nick Hinkley has already mathematically clinched

the 207 Crate Modified championship, there are still 4 champions to be decided, with 10
points or less separating the leaders in both the Pro Stocks and Thunder 4 Minis.
The green flag flies at 2:00 pm and as always, adult admission is just $5 while kids 6
and under get in for free.

Final Midweek Wednesday Showdown set for September 16 at Thompson Speedway

Thompson, CT — With the leaves already beginning to change and bringing with it the cooler nights, Thompson Speedway is set for the final midweek Wednesday night showdown this Wednesday, September 16. Headlined by the Eden Rafferty Attorneys Late Model Showdown, the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds, SK Light Modifieds, Street Stocks and Crown Vics all return with a 6:00pm start time!

Matt Lowinski-Loh stands tall atop the Late Model standings heading into their 50-lap extra-distance Eden Rafferty showdown this Wednesday. Lowinksi-Loh has won 3 of the five Late Model events at Thompson in a strong showing this season, currently 23-points ahead of defending track champion Jake Johnson. Alongside the two leaders, top rookie Travis Hydar, Jared Mataras, Jason Williams, Jared Roy and fellow rookie Shaun Kekacs are all expected to go the distance on Wednesday while Jacob ‘Rowdy’ Burns will be among those looking to invade and steal the spotlight this week!

Keith Rocco remains the main to beat in the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds, currently leading defending division champion Todd Owen by sixteen points. Rocco has been on a roll winning three of six events so far with Owen, Danny Cates and Bryan Narducci sweeping in to steal the others away! The showstopping division is set for another wild 50-lap trophy dash this week.

Young phenom Kevin Davis remains atop the SK Light Modified standings and looks to nail down his fourth win in the open-wheeled division on the final Wednesday night show of the season! Last year’s top rookie Austin Goff has keep his name up front all season long as well, taking a win and currently trailing Davis by 37-points in the tally. RJ Marcotte has been the only other winner in the division which has grown to a strong showing in each event this season.

The Street Stocks also return for the final Wednesday night under the lights with Ryan Lineham firmly in command of the ranking. Running a more open rulebook this season has called in some of the region’s top talent with Lineham proving the man to beat week in and week out. Jared Soucy, Al Stone III, Mike Viens and Nick Anderson are among those who’ve been in the mix all season long and look to topple the King this time around.

While they don’t count points, the Crown Vics return to have the most fun on Wednesday. Their 20-lap sprint kicks off feature racing on Wednesday with the division looking to crown it’s fifth different winner this season and knock two-time and defending race winner Jack Emerson off the top spot!

Thompson Speedway roars back to life on Wednesday, September 16 for the Eden Raferty Attorneys Fall Showdown Late Model Special! The Late Models take center stage in their extra-distance showdown alongside the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds, SK Light Modifieds, Street Stocks and Crown Vics with a 6:00pm Post Time.

Grandstands open at 4:00pm with Adult General Admission set at $25, Kids 6-12 are $10 and Children five and under are free!
