Pol Espargaro To Continue To Replace Maverick Viñales Again At Misano

Maverick Viñales will once again be absent from the Tech3 KTM team, for the third race in a row. The Spaniard is continue to work on the shoulder he injured at the Sachsenring last year, and which has caused him to drift in and out of the 2026 MotoGP championship as he struggles with strength.

Pol Espargaro will once again step in to replace the injured Viñales. Espargaro has alternated testing KTM's 850 and replacing Viñales for the past month, subbing for the Spaniard at Silverstone and Aragon as well.

With just one week between Misano and KTM's home race at the Red Bull Ring, it is not clear whether Viñales will be present at the Austrian GP. Pol Espargaro will be present anyway, as he has broadcasting duties and will be present for the 850cc test which will take place behind closed doors at Spielberg on the Monday after the Austrian GP.

Miguel Oliveira Extends Contract With BMW WorldSBK Team Through 2027

Miguel Oliveira is to stay with the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team for the 2027 season. Despite a serious injury picked up in the Hungarian round at Balaton Park, the Portuguese rider has been signed on for another season with the German manufacturer. Oliveira has impressed BMW with his attitude and speed on the M 1000 RR.

There will be change on the other side of the garage, however. Although it has not yet been officially announced, Brad Binder looks set to be joining BMW in the WorldSBK championship, reuniting the two members of KTM's 2021 and 2022 MotoGP squad. That leaves current BMW rider Danilo Petrucci looking for a ride for 2027.

2027 MotoGP Preseason Dates Announced: Sepang and Buriram Tests Back-to-Back, Moto2/Moto3 In Jerez

The start of the 2027 MotoGP season is starting to take shape. Today, MotoGP announced the dates for the official tests for the MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 classes, and reaffirmed the date for the season launch in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

The most prominent change is the reduction of Sepang test from three days to two, for both the Shakedown test and the official IRTA test. That gives rookies (who are allowed to ride at the Shakedown test, to get more time to adapt to MotoGP) two days less on a MotoGP bike before the preaseason, and veteran riders one less day to adapt to the new-for-2027 Pirelli tires. And with so many riders switching manufacturers, they will have less time to adapt to the bike.

We came to Aragon expecting a Marc Marquez whitewash. Marc Márquez walked away with 37 points and took second in the championship, closing the gap to leader Jorge Martin to just 19 points. Is that a whitewash? Not the kind that we saw last year, for sure. It was Marco Bezzecchi, not Márquez, who took pole. And though the Ducati Lenovo rider cruised to a comfortable victory in the sprint race on Saturday, he was forced to work for it on Sunday.

He made it hard for himself by forgetting to disengage the rear ride-height device after the back straight on the way to the grid. So despite the fact he got the perfect start, diving past Marco Bezzecchi to take the lead, but as he pitched the bike right for Turn 2, everything grounded out, sparks flying. The rear was stuck down all the way to Turn 5, the first corner with hard enough braking to release the ride-height, but by that time, he was third, with a gaggle of bikes swarming all over his tail.
