Technical problems anyone? We’ve already been asked about Martyn Webb’s car. Here’s his reply: I bought the car in 1985 as a restoration project advertised as a late 20s Aero, from a chap in Devon. There was a re-tubed chassis, a British Anzani M3 engine from the late 1920s and several boxes of bits and pieces. The history of the car prior to this is unknown. I soon realised from the bevel box that the chassis was somewhat earlier than advertised and this turned out to be 1923. I therefore rebuilt it to the 1923 Aero specification, carrying out extensive research to ensure that the car was accurate in every detail. I swapped the Anzani M3 engine for an earlier Anzani CCW (1078cc 57 degree V-twin) of the correct period and exchanged some later parts that came with the project for earlier items. I finished the restoration in 1989 and the car has been used regularly since. Apart from numerous events in the U.K., I also drove the Aero to four of the vintage meetings at the Montlhery banked rece track south of Paris in the late 1990s. The car is currently running well and will be attending most of the Morgan Centenary celebrations throughout 2009.
