I have written about work from home jobs before, but today I updated my list with some additional options from the Today Show segment on Labor Day, September 6, 2010:

Mom Corps - connects woman who are looking for job sharing, telecommuting, permanent and contract positions with 150 companies nationwide. Job seekers can post their resume for free on the Mom Corps site or pay $9.99 a month for better placement as a “featured candidate”. Mom Corps is also looking to expand their franchises over the next 1-2 years.

10 Till 2- is a part-time placement service that matches college-educated professionals with long-term part-time jobs. 10 Till 2 is a franchise available in 9 states and job seekers do not pay a fee.

HomeWithTheKids is a website dedicated to posting opportunities for part time jobs and has a lot of good, up-to-date information. Check the section called “Unresearched Job Leads”.

You can use a site called jobvent to read what others are saying about the company/jobs that you area applying for. They have free and anonymous reviews of jobs that people LOVE or HATE. This site looks like a good place to vent-they don’t even require an email address!

Work from home sites: Most of these work from home sites for part time jobs require a newer computer, high speed Internet access, a dedicated phone line and strong communication skills. In most cases, you will also take an online assessment test to determine your computer knowledge and skills. Lastly, Care.com matches providers with people looking for child care, special needs care, tutoring & lessons, senior care, pet care & housekeeping. In our area, there are plenty of people hiring right now. You post your experience, a picture. You can also submit pre-recorded references. The Care.com service is free, however there is a nominal fee for a background check which I recommend.

For $10.00 a month, you can be listed as a “featured caregiver” and your listing is at the front of the pack. My daughter has been using this site to find part-time jobs for tutoring and baby-sitting for about 6 months. When she first started out, she was a “featured caregiver” for two months and it brought her many more jobs.

You will be sent an email each time a position matching your qualifications is posted. You can check out the job posting and then decide if you want to contact the person through the website. Care.com was founded in 2006 and is growing rapidly. The service is available in 40 major cities.

Amazon has a new service called Amazon Wireless Amazon Wireless where you can compare and switch cell phone plans. You can search by carrier, (AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile), select the phone features including Smartphones, price and even color. You can upgrade your cell phone if you already have a plan, establish new cell phone service, or transfer your service to another carrier. Amazon Wireless offers free two-day shipping and no rebate hassles.

It might be worth your time to compare your existing plan to the plans offered through Amazon Wireless Amazon Wireless to see if you can save money on your cell phone bill.

In most cases, you can keep your current mobile phone number if you decide to switch from one carrier to another, within the same geographical area. Amazon Wireless Amazon Wireless will work with your existing carrier on your behalf to “port” your phone number. In some cases, you can transfer your land-line to your new wireless phone. To insure that your phone service is uninterrupted, Amazon Wireless will work with your existing carrier to insure a seamless transition.

I have a corporate cell phone and plan which is not eligible for the Amazon Wireless program so I won’t be personally testing this service. I would love your feedback, either positive or negative if this service saves you money.

With Goldstar, you can set up a free account and receive emails for the events that you are interested in. You can sort by date, category, venue, and even read reviews and get helpful tips from other members. You get a confirmation email after you purchase your tickets and in most cases, you pick them up at Will Call. In some cases, the tickets are mailed to you. The tickets are provided by the venue, the same as if you bought them directly from their box office. There is a surcharge to use the service and it varies by event, but it is much cheaper than the surcharge you will pay through Ticketmaster or similar service. I have used Goldstar for a year or more.

Unless you are a frequent ticket-buyer, you don’t need the premium service called Red Velvet. Just stick with the free account.

Get more than$110 worth of Proctor & Gamble (P&G) coupons in the mail when you spend $50 on P & G products between August 20, 2010 and December 31, 2010. This is easier than it sounds when you review the list of products below. Simply fill out the rebate form, print the form HERE.

Next, circle the P&G products and prices along with your original cash receipt(s) and mail them to the address provided. The $50 must be before coupons and tax and the envelope needs to be postmarked by January 14, 2011.

Target’s New Electronics Trade In Program

Target has a new program for trading in old electronics. Customers will receive credits toward any Target purchase by trading in new or old electronics like iPhones, iPods, cell phones, and video games.

There will be an instore appraisal center and customers can bring in their items and decide if they want to proceed with the trade in and receive credit that can be used instantly at Target.

Target stores will begin to roll out this program inside stores beginning in September and will be available in about 850 Target stores by the end of the year.

Gift Cards Have New Rules

There are some new rules regarding gift cards which take effect today. These new rules are part of the Credit Card Act and apply to gift cards from MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover and retail gift cards too.

From now on, when you purchase a gift card, the balance cannot expire for five years from the date of purchase, or from the last date that you added funds to the gift card.

There are also some changes on the inactivity fees that we get dinged with. You won’t be charged an inactivity fee for at least a year. Gift card buyers can still be charged a fee to purchase a card or to replace a card. For all the details on the new gift card rules, go to the Federal Reserve site here:
