The Modest Needs 2023 Year End Challenge Grant: Every Gift Matched Up to $150,000.00!

TL;DR: Gifts Made to this Special Request for Help will be INSTANTLY MATCHED and split 50/50 between Modest Needs' General and Emergency Funds. More information below. Thank you for your support of this VERY important work!

***

Once a year, during the holiday season, we ask donors who are able to do so to make an additional, year-end contribution to Modest Needs. We use these contributions to help more families than would otherwise be possible in the early months of the new year, when charitable giving naturally declines.

This year, Modest Needs is fortunate to have received a special, year-end challenge grant. This grant will match year-end contributions dollar-for-dollar, up to a maximum of $150,000.00! With requests for help from Modest Needs at their highest levels since the COVID-19 crisis, it is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL that we claim EVERY DOLLAR of this challenge grant. But we need YOUR help to do it.

If you haven't already, PLEASE consider making a special, year-end contribution to Modest Needs in whatever amount you can. Your tax-deductible contribution will be immediately matched, and thanks to you, we'll be able to say 'Yes!' to more of the families who'll need us most in the early part of 2024.

Thank you - so much - for your kindness, generosity, and ongoing support of this very important work. Here's wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season and a very Happy New Year!

I'm a Retired Cancer Survivor That Will Lose My Car After Repairing It!

I am a 72-year-old cancer survivor with 7 grandchildren, and I work part-time. I receive social security, but I had to get a part-time job to make ends meet.

Since I returned to work after recovering from cancer, my annual income increased, which caused the government to take away my food stamps. Then, I unexpectedly had to repair my car. I was forced to repair it because it is the only way I can work. However, this incident combined with my added grocery expenses put me behind on my car note. I am very scared they will take it.

I am asking for Modest Needs to help me pay my car note. My car is almost paid off, and this help would bring me completely up to date. I can focus on remaining healthy in remission and schedule medical things that have been put on the back-burner until I get out of this hardship. This would mean so much to me. Thank you for reading.

I'm a Navy Veteran & I Can't Pay My Car Note or Utility Bills After Several Car Accidents!

I am a female US Navy Veteran. I love football, live music, concerts, and the arts. I am working part-time in the mortgage industry right now with hopes that I can become full-time soon.

I have had a couple of recent expenses that have set me back. While driving, I hit metal in the road, and I had to replace two tires. Then, a deer hit my car. It has been a disaster, and this has caused me to fall behind on some bills. I'm most worried about my car note and utilities. I have taken care of my rent, but I am worried about things spiraling even further if I lose power or transportation.

I am asking for help to get current with my car and utility payments. Your gift will allow me to move on in my life, avoid repossession and shut off, and focus on improving my employment situation. Thank you so much for everything.

I Sustained a Life-Altering Spine Injury in a Motor Accident & Can't Pay for Rehab!

My husband, Rick, and I own and operate a small construction business specializing in commercial and residential renovations. We especially enjoy remodeling 100+ year old structures to bring new life to neighborhoods.

After working really hard 7 days a week and even on holidays for our business, we embarked upon the trip of a lifetime. We planned it to be three months long and go right back to work afterwards. About 12,000 miles in, a large animal appeared in front of me on a country road. I swerved to avoid hitting the animal, but I lost control of the vehicle. I was thrown from my bike and hit the ground. I remember the whole thing; I was rushed to the hospital and into surgery on my spine. They had to put two rods in, but the procedure was a success. I had to stay there for a month before returning home to Arizona. Before my accident, I was debt-free, and my business was booming. One bad day and eight months later, we are out of resources. I am unable to work and trying to pay off hundreds of thousands in hospital bills. My husband is putting off his retirement just to keep us afloat. I know that I can get back to work if I can get the care I need, but with so much debt to pay off now, I can't take on any more expenses. Technology has made great advancements toward treating and healing my condition. Without help, I will be forced to settle into a life of bed sores, spasticity, and depression. I am not that person. I cannot live that way.

I am asking for help paying my intake bill at the rehabilitation center . This assistance will allow me to use cutting edge equipment and techniques to heal my injured body. My physical and emotional wellbeing will be restored. My husband will not be working nonstop just to keep our house. We will be able to get back on track and focus on the next chapter of my life. Thank you so much for anything you are able to give to my situation.

My Husband & I Have 3 Kids & a Baby With DiGeorge Syndrome. We Can't Afford Her Treatment & Our Car!

I am married to a hardworking spouse who works in law enforcement. He is currently the sole provider working two plus jobs to try and help our situation. We have 4 children, and our most recent child was born with DiGeorge syndrome. Our family has been thrown into financial hardship because of this. She must see so many specialists. Our oldest son loves to go fishing, middle son loves to color, and our oldest daughter is a sassy 4 year old who loves all things girly.

Our baby, Daisy, is 5 months old and is the sweetest baby who has had the hardest life thus far in our family. When she was born, she spent 3 months in the NICU and came home on a GTUBE. She must have several surgeries, and we are saving for all of them. This has taken a huge toll on our bank accounts, and if the medical bills were not hard enough, my husband lost pay several times taking off to care for our girl. We are out of options now for keeping things paid.

I am asking for your help to pay our car note and phone bill. This would free us up to pay our mortgage and save our home. We would not have to risk losing our car and then not being able to get our daughter to her procedures. This assistance would go a long way in ensuring we can recover as a family, take care of all our children, and get our baby the care she needs. Thank you so much for your help during this time in our lives.

My Son & I Both Caught Pneumonia & Were In & Out of the Hospital for Weeks. We'll Lose Electricity!

I live with my two sons and work for the state of Maryland's Department of Health.

Sadly, I have been battling pneumonia for almost a month now. My financial hardship started because my son fell ill with it, and then I caught it too. I was in and out of the hospital for weeks, which caused me to miss a lot of work and use up all my sick time. It has been a struggle to keep everything paid, but thankfully, the sick time helped me stay afloat this past month. Now that I have no more sick time, though, I will go unpaid until I return to work. I'm really stuck now and am worried about losing my services.

I am asking for help with my electric bill. I was not able to cover it this past month, and I had already fallen behind when my son got pneumonia. I will be returning to work soon, so I can get out of this situation. I just need a little help to hold me over until everything goes back to normal. Your kindness will ensure the three of us have a safe, functioning home, so we can focus on our health. Thank you so much for anything you can give.

I'm a Single Mom & Will Be Forced to Stop Treating My Cancer After Getting Into a Car Accident!

I am the mother of a 16-year-old son. It has always been him and I; he is my everything. We like to watch basketball and baseball together. He also started playing both of those sports when he was 4. It's a big part of our lives. I work full-time and have always made ends meet, but there are many things that I want to do with my son that we simply cannot afford.

Last year, my car was stolen. It was abandoned and recovered, but it needed very expensive repairs. I fixed it, and immediately after it was fixed, I was in a car accident. Someone hit me, and just like that, the repairs were all for nothing. I had no choice but to secure a new vehicle, and that took a lot. It is very hard to put money toward anything now. I have fallen behind on some of my cancer treatment bills, and I must keep them paid off to continue with my shots, medications, and treatment sessions.

I am asking for help from Modest Needs to pay my medical bills, so I can get the care I need. This help is potentially lifesaving for me. You may be the reason my son has a mom there for him through graduation and college. This help means I can continue with treatment, keep working, and be on track with everything again. Thank you.

I'm on Leave Until I Recover From Surgery. I'll Be Shut Off & Evicted Before I Return to Work!

I am a hard-working single woman currently on leave from my job at an air filtration company for health reasons. Until I recover from surgery, I will have no income. I already exhausted all that I had just to keep my bills paid, and now I am out of options.

I have been looking for rental assistance every day, but no one has anything available to help. I have nowhere else to go, so I really need my home. My landlord knows about my sickness, but they still plan to evict me at the end of the month if I do not get caught up. It makes me sick with stress every day which worsens my illness because stress increases my blood pressure.

I am asking for this assistance with my utility bills, so I can catch up on my rent. This will get me all caught up and back on track; I can return to work and maintain my finances going forward. This act of kindness will give me a home to heal in and save me from being put out in the condition I am in. I can focus on getting better and maintaining my health going forward. Thank you for reading, and I hope to pay it back once I am in the position to do so.

I am a single mother of a 3-month-old daughter. My mom helps take care of my daughter, so I can go to work without paying for daycare. My mom is self-employed and currently going through a divorce, so her support means the world to me during this season in my life.

I was working full-time for a home health agency up until I gave birth, but in Nevada, workers only get 2 months of short-term disability at 60% of regular pay. I was short on funds, so I had to return to work despite still being in the initial phases of motherhood.

I am asking for help with my rent, so I can remain in my home with my newborn. After losing 40% of my pay and then only being able to return to work with part-time hours, I simply do not have enough to pay my rent. Your help will get us caught up and allow me to move on from the loss of income I experienced during my very short maternity leave. This assistance will prevent my infant, mom, and I from being forced onto the street; thank you so much for anything you can provide us with.

I'm a 62-Year-Old Petsitter & Can't Move to More Affordable Housing After Some Medical Emergencies!

I'm a 62-year-old single woman who has dedicated the last 14 years to serving my community as a self-employed pet sitter and dog walker. I've also been entrusted to be the permanent legal guardian of my two nieces, a role I took 18 years ago during a very traumatic time for all of us. I spent two decades as a graphic designer before this.

The past year has brought many surprises. My father underwent major surgery and suffered a heart attack while my mother endured a hip fracture and replacement surgery. On top of that, I recently had surgery. The mounting medical bills in combination with the fact I had to take time off to care for my parents has left me in a precarious position. My income has declined significantly, and while I am in the process of downsizing to more affordable housing, the cost of moving there would be beyond my means now and only make things worse.

I am asking for help covering the expenses associated with this move, so I can safely get myself to my new home. This act of kindness would provide much-needed relief and stability during this challenging time, so I could focus on rebuilding my income without falling behind on essential expenses such as medical bills, rent, and utilities. Thank you for considering my request and for your compassion.

I'm in the Military, but I Don't Make Much. Please Help Me Fix My Car so I Can Get a Job!

I'm in the military but planning to go back to school to pursue physical therapy soon. Despite my dedication to the military, my income is simply not enough to cover the cost of my needs, especially now that I am thinking of pursuing an education.

I'm determined to obtain stability, so I can have a brighter future. I'm worried things may get worse, though, if I do not find a way to get my car repaired. I need to ensure I remain housed, and if I do not pay my rent, my roommate will kick me out. However, with the upcoming rent payment, I will not be able to repair my car. I will be stuck at home, unable to go to work or any other important obligations.

I am asking for help repairing my car. This assistance will have long-term impacts on my well-being. I will be able to get my footing, pay my rent, and set up a system for getting all my bills paid on time. Your help will propel me through the military, so I can afford to go back to school and pursue my dreams. Thank you so much for anything you can give to my situation.

I am a single woman that was forced to live in my car after my roommate lost her job, causing us to get evicted. I tried to cover the rent all alone, but after 8 months of trying to pay all the household expenses, I was destroyed financially and mentally exhausted. However, I was fortunate to have a friend help me rent an apartment.

I have recently returned to my job in event planning after being on FMLA. I took FMLA because being homeless took a huge toll on my mental and physical health to the point where I could barely function every day. If I can get through this first hump of my lease period, I will be able to continue to pay my rent no problem, but I am held back by all the other bills I must get current with.

I am asking for help to my storage, utility, and phone bill, so I am more free to pay the larger bills. This help will be the last step for me to achieve self-sufficiency again, and I would be so grateful. This kindness will let me get my life back. Thank you for anything you can give.

I'm a Senior Battling Cancer. My Car was Vandalized & if I Can't Fix it, I Can't Continue Treatment!

Hello, I'm a senior woman in the middle of a long and difficult battle with cancer. Despite my struggles with cancer, I have a very positive outlook on life, and I love helping people, especially my fellow residents at my senior living home.

After retiring and moving into my senior living community, I'm living on an almost entirely fixed income via my retirement benefits, but I am also working part-time when I can. It's always enough to get me through the month, but it's not much more than that, so I'm not able to handle unexpected expenses. During a particularly difficult week in which I had to have surgery for my cancer treatment, someone vandalized my car.

I don't know who would do such a thing or why, and I'm very saddened by the situation because my car is what keeps me independent. Without the use of my vehicle, I'm struggling to keep up hours at my part-time job, and I can't even reliably get groceries. It's been really difficult for me financially, and not having a vehicle has also really impacted my quality of life. As much as I love my senior living community, it's really difficult to feel like I'm isolated there. For those reasons, I'm humbly asking for assistance with having my car repaired.

I do have car insurance, but the deductible is high, and I can't afford to cover that, especially without working as many hours. Truly, I can only just begin to explain the impact that this generous assistance would have on me. With my vehicle in working order again, I can go back to work, and I won't have to worry about scheduling rides to get to and from my cancer treatments. I can't believe that all of this is happening while I'm also battling cancer, and it's been very hard on me, but this support would give me hope again. For that, I will be eternally grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider my story.

I Have Several Conditions & 2 Service Dogs. My Eldest Has Cancer & I Can't Pay for Her Surgery!

I am a 29-year-old with several chronic conditions, and I have 2 service dogs named Mila and Charlie. Charlie is currently training to be a service dog, and Mila is my older one. Sadly, she has cancer and needs surgery.

Honestly, I have been crying for days because I'm not sure what to do. My dogs are my babies, and Mila needs surgery if she wants to recover from cancer. I can't afford it, and it makes me so devastated that I can't save the life of the dog that saved mine. Between my and Mila's medical bills, I'm really struggling financially, and now I have no idea what to do. It is hard to work with my disability, and paying bills has been so difficult on its own. I will not have enough to pay this bill, and Mila will have to be put down.

I have come to you now hoping you will help me with Mila's surgery bill. It would mean my beloved service dog and I could have a few more years together and transition Charlie into her role slowly. I would not have my care interrupted, and our family would be whole again. We would be forever grateful. Thank you for your compassion and giving if you can.

I'm an Opera Singer in NYC & Couldn't Perform After a Freak Accident; Now, I Could Lose My Home!

I am a professional opera singer living in New York City, but I'm originally from Minnesota. I have been singing since I was a little girl, and I moved to New York to pursue my dream after graduating from college.

In October, I had a freak accident that caused me to break my leg and rupture my ankle. I was getting ready to go to my costume fitting and was scheduled to fly to DC for a performance. My whole life changed in that instant, and I was unable to work or perform onstage for over 5 months. This, as you can imagine, has been an extremely difficult and emotional time for me. I have had a really hard time paying my rent during this time and am slowly catching up on payments. I have been able to return to the stage very minimally, but I fear that the little income I am making now will not be enough to catch up in time.

I am asking for Modest Needs' to pay one month of my rent; that would be more than enough help. I could get caught up with all my other bills and not be forced to leave the city behind. This act of kindness would give me the space to heal and keep singing; I would be forever grateful.

My Husband Had Several Seizures & I Missed Work. Now Our Family Will Lose Power!

I am a married mother of 4 amazing young boys. My husband and I have been together for 21 years and married for 12. Our boys are our life. Our oldest is 15; he plays football for his high school. Our twins are 12, and they are both so different. I work from home because I home-school our youngest three kids. They will be starting public school in August, though, and when that happens, I will start working in person again. Things will be changing for us big time!!

We earn enough to cover our bills, but unfortunately, we came into a hardship. Over the last few years my husband was diagnosed with epilepsy, and he had a series of bad seizures recently. When that happens, we both must miss work. Luckily for him, he had PTO, but I did not. I was also already having trouble because my job had temporarily cut employee hours, so this loss of work really took a toll on me. One of our twins has also had back-to-back appointments with a neurologist, as they are concerned he may have epilepsy as well. My husband can no longer drive due to his condition, so I am the one who had to miss work to take our son to these appointments.

I am asking for Modest Needs' help with our electric bill. We could not afford to pay for it after I lost all those hours. Because we are already on a payment plan, the company is not willing to work with us anymore. I've thought about taking money from another bill to pay this, but I worry that would result in us being late on our mortgage and losing our home. This act of kindness would keep our household running and get us all caught up. I have already been able to get more hours with my job and even picked up an additional position; we will be out of this mess with your help. Thank you so much for anything you can give to keep our power on.

I'm a Single Mom & After I Paid for My Brother's Funeral, I Could Not Pay My Medical Bill!

I am a single mom of a 13-year-old boy who is very smart and loves music. I am the director of our local Boys & Girls Club and work part-time at our local library. My son is excited for a summer full of camp and going to the creek with his friends.

I make enough money to pay my bills, but a few months ago, I started having severe stomach pain. I have had to have ultrasounds and tests to figure out what was wrong, and it ended up being a severe case of diverticulitis. This was shortly after my brother passed away, so I was unable to pay off every one of my medical bills since I had just put my entire savings toward a proper funeral for my brother. I cut out our Netflix subscription and other non-vital expenses to try to help, but I could not pay the hospital bills fast enough. Now, I have a wage garnishment, and they take 26% of my check every pay period.

I am asking for help to pay off these medical bills, so I do not fall behind on other essential bills due to this garnishment. Your generosity will ensure my son and I can remain on track for the foreseeable future. We will be able to heal from my hospital stay and death of my brother. Thank you so much for anything you can give to our situation.

I'm a Single Mom, & My Diabetes Medication is So Expensive That It'll Put Us Out of a Home!

I am a mother of a 15-year-old son who loves to play basketball and is an honor student. I am also mentoring a 23-year-old young lady and raising her 3-year-old daughter until she is stable. My father is 78 years old, and I care for him in my home as well. I am a full-time case manager for a local non-profit organization and absolutely love helping my clients.

I took a significant pay cut when I began working in the nonprofit sector. I was able to rely on some savings until I was diagnosed with diabetes. The medication costs thousands, and I also had to buy medical supplies for my aging dad. My budget was already very tight and the cost of this medication began to cut into my rent money. I felt I had no choice as my kidney was already compromised and diabetes would surely further the condition.

I am asking for help just this once with my rent, so I can get back on track. I have lived in my rental home for three years and have never been in a situation such as this. This generous assistance will keep my family from being homeless. Your help would be such a blessing that we surely would never forget. Thank you.

No School Will Take My Son With Autism, so I Lost Work. My 4 Kids & I Will Lose Power!

I work as a learning specialist for students with disabilities in a private school. I love what I do, but I am always missing my kids while at work. I am a mother of four. My 12-year-old daughter is an old soul always making everyone laugh, and my 5-year-old always notices the small details in life. He has autism, but that never keeps him back; he has recently become verbal, and he has so much to say. My 2-year-old son is wild and full of life, and my youngest just turned one. She is always smiling. My fiance is the father of my youngest three. Despite his struggles with depression, he has worked very hard in the pest control field to keep us afloat.

Sadly, both my fiance and I have missed a significant amount of work recently due to my son with autism's behavioral issues at school. He was asked to leave two daycares last year, so finding him care has been challenging to say the least. Any missed work will set us back, and to make it worse, I found my car windshield shattered as I was leaving for work last week. Unfortunately, I did not have auto glass insurance, so we were stuck paying the full amount for the replacement. The combination of these repairs costs with our lost hours has put us in a very difficult situation.

We are asking for help with our utility payments, so we can keep our services on while we get back on our feet. Your help will set us up for a more secure future and allow me to consider going back to school to improve our lives. This act of kindness will push my family through this rough patch, give my fiance and I time to find a school for our son, and hold us over until our next paycheck with full-time hours comes in. Thank you so much for reading.

I'm a Mom Trying to Stay Afloat on Medical Leave. I Can't Repair My Car & It'll Cost Me My Health!

I am a single mother of two. My son is 19 and a freshman in college studying IT Engineering. My daughter is 10 years old, and although I can't pay for it right now, she loves cheerleading. I work full-time for Best Buy Corporate, but I'm currently on a leave of absence for medical reasons.

While on my leave, we have been living paycheck to paycheck. One day last month, my car stopped in the middle of an intersection; the alternator just went out. This has put me in an unexpected financial bind, as the repair for the alternator and oil leak is simply too costly for me to cover, but I have no other way to get to my appointments.

I am asking for help with my car repairs because I will definitely lose my job if car is not fixed by the time my leave ends. This really is the last option I have, as I have reached out to several local organizations just to be turned down by all of them. I'm losing money on Lyft rides for essential things, making repairs even harder to pay. This one-time help will get my children and I out of this rut. I will be able to take care of my health, so I can keep working for the foreseeable future. I will be able to keep all of us safe both in the car and at home, and for that, I cannot thank you enough.

I Have 4 Chronic Conditions. After Back to Back Flare Ups & Losing Work, I'll Be Homeless!

I am a single woman employed as a postal worker, and I try to always look on the positive side of things.

I have been diagnosed with 4 separate chronic health conditions in the last 5 years. One of my conditions is HS. It causes debilitating, painful abscesses to form, and it is impossible for me to move around or do anything when they flare up. As a result, I am sometimes unable to work when this happens. I recently experienced back-to-back flares, and in combination with my other conditions, as soon as one thing faded, another problem popped up. I have essentially chronic fatigue because of how difficult it is to experience my illnesses. I lost work for a month, but I did not qualify for short-term disability. I lost an entire month's worth of pay. I'm now struggling to keep my bills paid and could lose my home soon.

I am asking for assistance with my rent, so I can get back on track after these emergencies. This assistance would give me the time I need to collect a few more paychecks, so I can stay on top of things going forward. I'm continuing to work with my doctors on managing these flares, so hopefully this does not happen again. Your help will ensure I do not end up homeless in my condition, and I will be forever thankful.

I'm a Single Mom of 2 Kids & My Car is So Unsafe We Could Get Into an Accident. I Can't Fix It!

I am a single mother of a six-year-old daughter with a bright imagination and a 1-year-old son who loves to rough house and be silly. They're both great kids and they play well together. I have a history in maintenance but recently transferred into administrative work to try to break into the business side of the workforce. I do not have financial help from anyone and am the sole provider for my children.

I bought a home when I was making better money 6 years ago. I'm making much less now, and with the higher cost of living, I live paycheck to paycheck. Any hiccup threatens to throw everything off track, and sadly, there is an issue with my car. It has had wheel bearing and ball joint issues for a while now, as it is 12 years old. After my homeowner's insurance went up unexpectedly, I had to use any savings I had to pay that while I re-balanced my budget to afford it. Now, my car has gotten much worse, and I can feel the parts scraping on the ground when I drive. I'm worried this will cause an accident, but I need to drive it to work every day. If I don't get this repaired, I won't have transportation to work and fear I would have to abandon my home to move somewhere I could afford. This runs me a daily risk of losing the current stable life that I've built for my children.

I am asking for your assistance with my repairs. These repairs mean that I no longer run the daily risk of getting into a car accident that injures my kids and I or worse. It would be such a terrible thing to happen, but I feel I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. There is no public transportation where I live. This help will save our finances and permit me to keep working, so I can continue to be the best mom to my little ones. Thank you for all your help.

I'm a Grandma With Stage 3 Cancer, & I'm Raising My Grandson. I'm on Leave & Can't Pay My Gas Bill!

I am a single, divorced woman raising my grandson alone. My grandson loves dancing; he is currently taking a hip hop class, and I love watching him move! I work at a power company full-time.

Sadly, I was diagnosed with stage three rectal cancer a few months ago. I am on short-term disability leave at my job, so I can undergo treatment. Every paycheck I get is now only a percentage of what I would get before, and it has not even been enough so far for me to pay my mortgage this month. I've been forced to put things on the back burner while I care for my health, and I am worried about what could happen to my home and utility services. I was able to submit a medical certificate to my gas company, which will allow my service to stay on for another 30 days, but I need to find a way to pay this bill.

I am asking for help with my utility bill, so I do not have to lose my power in the middle of treatment. All my paychecks have gone toward my mortgage payment, so I do not risk becoming homeless with my little dancer. This help would be a real lifesaver. I will be able to remain healthy and comfortable in my house until I return to work, and I can focus on beating cancer. Thank you for anything you can give to my grandson and I.

A Car Crash Put Me in a Coma & Cost Me My Leg. Now, Without Help, It'll Also Cost Me My Home!

Hello everyone, I am a disabled amputee and mother of one adult son. Around 6 years ago, my life changed forever. My son, 15 at the time, and I were in a terrible car accident, and although we both survived, I was in a coma for six weeks with massive internal injuries. Not to mention, my son and I both sustained injuries to our heads and left legs. My leg even ended up needing to be amputated. I'm in a wheelchair, and my finance has taken on a caregiver role for me. It is a miracle my son and I are alive, and I am thankful every day I get to wake up at home with my family. We earn enough to pay for our basic expenses every month but currently are living paycheck to paycheck. I receive social security disability, and my soon-to-be husband is paid to care for me. My adult son works but lives with a relative.

If this was not bad enough, the accident came off the heels of my fiances mother suddenly passing away. She had a heart attack, and my fiance had to pay the burial expenses. This was already straining our financials, so 6 weeks' worth of medical bills ruined us. After all this happening right in a row, we fell behind on our rent, and I'm terrified we may never catch up. We tried our best to stay on top of payments while going through these past few horrific months, but the medical and funeral bills were so costly that it is impossible to keep up now.

We are asking for this one-time help with our rent, so we can get current again. This help would mean my family and I do not have to suffer through homelessness when we have already suffered so much. My poor fiance is barely able to cope with his mother dying like this let alone my son and I getting into a near fatal car wreck and sustaining permanent disabilities. His job and life have changed both drastically and suddenly, so he is just as traumatized as my son and I. If you found it in your hearts to give to our situation, we would be beyond thankful. This help would mean we could begin to piece our lives back together. Thank you.

My Daughter Had 2 Heart Transplants, Cancer, & More. Her Benefits Got Cancelled & Now We Can't Move!

I am a single mother caring for my two adult daughters and two young grandsons. My 18-year-old daughter has faced immense adversity, having undergone two heart transplants already. She is also a cancer survivor, bravely battling Noonan Syndrome, hearing loss, vision issues, blood disorders, and scoliosis. My 22-year-old daughter is a victim of domestic violence and has also shown remarkable strength in her life. Alongside them, I care for my two grandbabies whose innocent smiles remind me why we keep going each day. As for me, I work as an Outreach Specialist.

Recently, my 22-year-old secured a job at Autozone, so she has really stepped up, buying us groceries and contributing to bills whenever she can. However, we faced an unforeseen setback when my 18-year-old's social security benefits were discontinued. I'm currently in an appeal case with them, but this has put a huge strain on our finances. Since the job market in our extremely small town is pretty limited, we are hoping to move to Texas to reunite with my son and our extended family.

I'm humbly seeking assistance purchasing a U-Haul for our relocation to El Paso, TX. My job prospects will be much better in Texas, and our family can provide some support for us through this time. This help ensures that we can take our belongings with us on this move. It also alleviates the burden of an additional expense during our journey. My 22-year-old daughter has already discussed the situation with her manager, and they have graciously agreed to allow her to transfer her job. This act of kindness means that we can go to a secure, stable environment for my grandchildren, and that is most important. Thank you so much for everything.
