Making mobile sites with Drupal blogs You are reading a technology blog on development of mobile sites, and integration with Drupal. Check out the Mobile version of this site! en Mobile usages for Drupal
Someone directed me to the following blog post, illustrating a cool use case for Drupal in a mobile context. Read it on http://realize.be/mobile-uploads-your-drupal-site
The blog shortly explains how you can use Drupal together with the Mailhandler and Mailsave modules to update your Drupal image galleries through a mobile phone (e.g. iPhone).

http://www.mobiledrupal.com/content/mobile-usages-drupal#comments drupal facebook images iPhone mobile Wed, 21 Jan 2009 18:49:47 +0000 Tom 26 at http://www.mobiledrupal.com new Mobile Device Detection module for Drupal
I have published a new Drupal module, allowing you to handle the redirection of users to your mobile site.

You can find the module and documentation here

The module allows you to check what client is visiting your site and display a message with the url of the mobile site, or does an automatic redirection to that site.

The module also gives you a session variable $_SESSION['mobile'] that holds a boolean indicating if the client is a mobile device.

http://www.mobiledrupal.com/content/new-mobile-device-detection-module-drupal#comments development drupal mobile Sun, 18 Jan 2009 15:40:04 +0000 Tom 24 at http://www.mobiledrupal.com Make your Drupal blog mobile!
This is my first post in a series of tutorials illustrating how the open source Siruna software can help you in making your website mobile. The goal is not to create a mobile site from scratch, but to repurpose your existing sites for display on mobile devices. The advantage is that you do not lose time by creating a complete new mobile theme, and Siruna assists in making some usability choices.
Drupal is currently not aware of mobile devices and delivers a very bad "out-of-the-box" solution to serve these devices. At the other hand, Drupal is very suited for mobile transformations because of the well structured theming.

http://www.mobiledrupal.com/content/make-your-drupal-blog-mobile#comments blog development drupal mobile siruna tutorial Sun, 11 Jan 2009 23:15:21 +0000 Tom 14 at http://www.mobiledrupal.com Predictions for 2009
At the end of the year I always feel the urge to look up the predictions for the coming year... Personally I feel that the mobile web is finally coming... No seriously, we are at a tipping point where consumers (professionals are already there) are finding their way to mobile internet. Of course, reasons are new (cool) devices, new (user-friendly) applications and the urge of always-on connectivity induced by the Facebooks and Netlogs of this world.

http://www.mobiledrupal.com/content/predictions-2009#comments 2009 mobile trends Mon, 15 Dec 2008 22:05:32 +0000 Tom 10 at http://www.mobiledrupal.com Start of a new technical blog
Welcome to this new Blog dealing about mobility and more specific Mobile Drupal. The blog will publish the result of one of my current consulting jobs, involving the creation of a set of tools for helping Drupal developers in making their sites mobile. The blog is an attempt to deliver a very practical approach in making mobile sites and gather some feedback from the community. I hope you won't mind that during my discourse, I will have a natural preference for using Siruna as an adaptation service... But more on this later.

Currently mobile presence gets more and more attention, and the predictions are very positive ... e.g. Smartphone growth according Gartner, but still data subscribers are not yet booming...

http://www.mobiledrupal.com/content/start-new-technical-blog#comments development mobile siruna Wed, 10 Dec 2008 20:52:27 +0000 Tom 9 at http://www.mobiledrupal.com
