Kool TV takes a fresh look at Millennium Season Three

Its not often these days that websites review or offer analysis of Millennium (probably since the show was gratefully released on DVD), but I recently heard from Scott Weller of the quite fascinating blog Kool TV, who kindly took the time to let me know about the final part of his insightful look at the third and ultimate season of Millennium which is now up and available to read online.

Steve has previously also looked at the first two seasons of Chris Carter's dark and evocative series, and you can find links to those articles here.

Millennium writer Kay Reindl launches her new book

Kay Reindl, co-author of the much loved Millennium episodes Anamnesis and Midnight of the Century has launched a new book entitled 'In Obscura'. The e-book is designed for electronic reading devices such as the Kindle:

"Recruited by a mysterious spy to do a simple job, aimless Jordan Cole finds herself in the middle of a centuries-old apocalyptic mystery and is horrified to discover that she is the only person who can uncover the truth and save the world."

Using her popular blog Seriocity, Kay reveals much more about how the e-book came about:

"In Obscura is a book I started writing over a decade ago. I'd write, put it away, drag it out, change all the pop culture and technology, etc. It has a sprawling, ancient mythology that needed to be corralled. There's magic in it. But it doesn't feature a punkish, back-to-the-camera heroine covered in tramp stamps as she wields a sharpened weapon of some sort. It doesn't have the mainstream thriller fiction vibe either. It's not about a globe-trotting archaeologist, or a famous symbologist. There are no scenes of cardinals rending their garments at the Vatican. People, I DON'T EVEN MENTION OPUS DEI. The spine of this story is a secret history, created partly out of the inspiration I had when we were researching secret societies and black virgins and bloodlines on Millennium. And you can only fit so much ancient conspiracy into one hour of television."

Kay undertook 26 roles (writing 4 episodes and jointly story editing 22 episodes) whilst working on Chris Carter's Millennium television series. As well as co-writing the second season episodes A Single Blade of Grass, Anamnesis and Midnight of the Century with writing partner Erin Maher, Kay also took over from Michael Perry serving again alongside Erin as Executive Story Editors for Season 3 of the series. Kay and Erin also wrote their only season 3 episode Matryoshka together.

Amazon's Kindle is available as a handheld e-book reader and also available as a download for PC, iPhone, iPad and Android.

We wish Kay every success with In Obscura, which you can find at Amazon.com

TIWWA Member HighPlainsDrifter's challenge to raise $500 for Cancer Charity!

We're very proud to highlight on our news page that Joseph McBrayer (better known as HighPlainsDrifter), one of our highly popular and much-loved members on our This Is Who We Are (TIWWA) community forums has volunteered to help raise $500 of funds for children's cancer charity, St Baldricks, by shaving his head!

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is the world's largest volunteer-driven fund-raising event for childhood cancer research. At St. Baldrick's events all throughout the year, brave volunteers shave their heads, raising funds for research. Like runners in a marathon, "shavees" collect donations from family, friends and associates. The Foundation receives these funds and makes grants to research experts to find new and better treatments for fighting kids' cancer.

The Foundation funds local institutions and cooperative research on a national scale to help doctors work together to develop the best treatments for all children with cancer. The St. Baldrick's Foundation provides grants to over 230 institutions for laboratory research and to help make clinical trials available to more children than ever, giving those children treatment that offers the best chance for a cure and long-term survival.

Since 2000, St. Baldrick's has raised more than $69 million USD by hosting more than 2,500 events and shaving more than 108,000 heads in 24 countries and all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.

Joe's Donation page at St Baldricks's can be found here:
http://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/participantid/419084

Millennium fan Joe posts, "With having family members that had died from cancer and a close friend that survived cancer I have joined a great organization that helps the cause. They are called St.Baldricks. I am looking for donations to help children with cancer, I am shaving my head for this. If you can help by please donate to this cause."

We're hoping that you can help Joe achieve his goal of raising $500, its really easy to do, just go to his page and click on the Make a Donation button. I was able to make a donation from the UK in minutes, with no registration required. If you're a TIWWA Member, you may like to use the option to display your member name instead of your real name, its completely up to you!

TIWWA wishes Joe every success with this worthwhile challenge and is very proud to sponsor him!

The Christmas 2010 Lucy Butler Audio Competition winner, Star of Wonder by James P. Davies!

Dear friends,

As all of you will know, we began our celebration of the festive season with a little something special from Sarah-Jane Redmond herself with an opportunity to have your words read aloud by Millennium's Lucy Butler. The challenge was to create a festive tale with just enough winter chill and more than a dash of Lucy Butler to ease our Millennium pangs. When we launched the competition I had no idea that it would be so warmly received and that the standard of entries would be so high and so many.

Sarah-Jane undertook the difficult task of reading the entries to select our winner and those in second and third places. I am extremely grateful to her for this as I would have found it impossible hard to do so myself given the standard of the entries and I am pleased to announce that Sarah-Jane has chosen her first, second and third places. In third place we have Ana Miraldo, in second place we have Heath Griner and the winner of the Lucy Butler Audio Competition 2010 is.....

James P. Davis with "Star Of Wonder"!

Congratulations to all of you. Our second and place winners will receive an exclusive signed photograph of Sarah-Jane Redmond as Lucy Butler and I want to congratulate the both of you on making Sarah-Jane's job so difficult when it came to selecting a winning entry. You both created something magical and it was by no means an easy task to pick between the finalists. As for our winner, he will hear his story read out in those devilish tones we love.

So here's to James on such a deserving win and for creating such a superb story for Lucy Butler to feature in. Take a bow Sir, you truly do deserve it.

Thank you to each and every one of you that entered. You are all winners and we truly appreciate the creativity, energy and passion you are willing to demonstrate in support of the show you love and it does not go unappreciated by the cast and crew I can promise you.

...

The time is now. Here's is the winning entry of our Lucy Butler Audio Competition 2010 written by the extremely talented James P. Davis and narrated by Sarah-Jane Redmond. All the entries were of a standard I couldn't hope to attain but I have to confess to being blown away by James' when I read it and I know Sarah-Jane was too hence the win. It is such a well written piece with lots of references and subtle touches and it is undoubtedly a Christmas story which is what we were looking for. I was particularly impressed with the sheer scope of it and how it seemed to have a mythology all of its own. I have also included a download link for those of you who like the opportunity to have a copy to listen to at their leisure. I wanted to take this opportunity to than all our entrants - the standard was exceptionally high and you all deserve a round of applause so take a box. Further congratulations to James for creating such a memorable entry and one that I am sure you will all agree deserved to win and last but by no means least my gratitude to Sarah-Jane Redmond for the considerable time, support and enthusiasm she afforded us this year to help make our festive season a Millennium festive season.
Enjoy the story folks and be sure to leave your thoughts when you have heard it, I am sure James would appreciate that.
Fans dropping by will also have an opportunity to win a signed copy of the festive horror film ""Black Christmas"" kindly donated by Millennium's luminaries Glen Morgan and Kristen Cloke, an opportunity to win a signed photograph of Tucker Smallwood as Millennium's Steven Kiley that he very kindly donated to our Killer Karaoke Competition and to put the cherry on the top we have the first Millennium comic strip created exclusively for www.tiwwa.info by artist and illustrator Barry Renshaw. Yep, Frank Black's back in action this Christmas and what a long time coming it has been.

I'm thrilled to say that Lance Henriksen Magic will now be brought to you with the kind assistance of Mark Hayden (aka ethsnafu) and Libby! Both Mark and Libby you may already know help me successfully run This is who we are.

Mark in particular will be helping me to bring you more news concerning Lance Henriksen and his career on a more frequent basis, whilst Libby will be helping oversee the brand new community forums section of the site. The new site is easier to navigate and use, contains the same classic archive of Lance goodness, but is now a new feature-laden social website where fans can discuss Lance's career, classic roles and his latest projects with like-minded individuals, who appreciate Lance's career and his amazing talent.

We look forward to chatting with you on the new site, we hope you enjoy the facilities it has to offer and we look forward to you sharing your favourite Lance video's fan tributes/art/video compilations and clips of Lance's film moments with a potentially much larger audience that we currently have here as TIWWA is solely focussed on Lance's work on Millennium.

http://www.lancehenriksen.info/
Both James and Troy (a downright veritable comedy double-act in anyone's book) took part and did a grand ol' job in promoting their campaign to see the return of Millennium.

Be sure to keep up to date with their news blog for the latest campaign news, interviews and order a fantastic, non-copyright infringing Millennium themed t-shirt whilst you are there. By doing so, you'll help Jim and Troy get one step closer to ordering a advert in Variety or other respected trade publication to promote the campaign.
