Caps365 caught up with Mike to get a little insight on his summer, his training process, the upcoming season, his excitement for the NHL Winter Classic and new teammate DJ King.

I know I’m anxious, I know you’re anxious, but I could only imagine how anxious Mike and the rest of the team is to get this thing started, and try and redeem themselves for their playoff shortcomings.

The first game is on the road against the Atlanta Thrashers on Friday October 8th 2010, and the home opener is the following night when the New Jersey Devils are in town.

The sad part is that even if they blowout the first 20 games and go 20-0, it won’t do anything for the haters out there, the playoffs will still be the big question, April can’t come fast enough!

Mike Green volunteered yesterday to help get a local Washington D.C. school ready for the school year. Important to note the Papa John’s was giving out free pizza to the volunteers, hopefully Mike didn’t eat too much, hockey season is right around the corner. Learn more at the Caps website.

Yesterday the Washington Capitals added some much needed toughness to their line up by trading for 26 year old Canadian tough guy D.J. King.

The cost was a prospect by the name of Stefan Della Rovere.

Since Donald Brashear left, the Caps were left shorthanded in the enforcer department, so this should help them out, specially to protect their stars.

After setting career highs in goals, assists, points (obviously) and plus/minus in the past season, despite missing 11 games, Fleischman got rewarded with a one year contract, the terms weren’t disclosed, but at least he will be back for one more season.

He is a very promising 26 year old, and hopefully after this season he can get a longer contract.

You should never assume anything, but I’ll step out on a ledge an guess, barring injury, Mike will be on the Eastern conference team for the 2011 NHL All-Star game in Carolina.
