Currently, the Android Music player searches the entire SD card for all playable files. When a user chooses to shuffle all songs, sometimes application sound files are included in the shuffle.

This results in a situation where a user might be listening to a track, then suddenly, “Turn left in 3 miles” (or some other inappropriate sound file) plays.

If, like me you only want to listen to the MP3 files that you have actually put into your ‘Music’ folder, then here is the solution.

Simple!

Place a ‘.nomedia‘ (Right Click, Save As) file into the folders you do not want to be included in the music player.

Restart the phone, then you should only have the music files that you want to listen to in your player!

Works for all Android devices, G1, G2, MyTouch, Hero, Dream, Magic, Sapphire etc.

With Wordpress becoming arguably the best blog / cms package available, there are certain plugins that you must have if you are wanting a successful blog!

Below is a list we have compiled to help you obtain some of the very best plugins available to help enhance your Wordpress experience.

10 Must Have Wordpress Plugins

All in One SEO Pack
Optimizes your Wordpress blog for Search Engines (Search Engine Optimization).

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/

DB Backup
WP-DB-Backup allows you easily to backup your core WordPress database tables. You may also backup other tables in the same database.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-db-backup/

Exclude Pages
This plugin adds a checkbox, “include this page in menus”, which is checked by default. If you uncheck it, the page will not appear in any listings of pages (which includes, and is usually limited to, your page navigation menus).

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/exclude-pages/

Google Analyticator
Google Analyticator adds the necessary JavaScript code to enable Google Analytics logging on any WordPress blog. This eliminates the need to edit your template code to begin logging. Google Analyticator also includes several widgets for displaying Analytics data in the admin and on your blog.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-analyticator/

Google Sitemap Generator
This plugin will create a Google sitemaps compliant XML-Sitemap of your WordPress blog. It supports all of the WordPress generated pages as well as custom ones. Everytime you edit or create a post, your sitemap is updated and all major search engines that support the sitemap protocol, like ASK.com, Google, MSN Search and YAHOO, are notified about the update.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/

Nextgen Gallery
NextGEN Gallery is a full integrated Image Gallery plugin for WordPress with a Flash slideshow option. Before I start writing the plugin I study all photo and picture plugins for WordPress, I figure out that some of them are really good and well designed, but I missed a simple and easy administration back end to handle multiple photos, galleries and albums.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextgen-gallery/

Register Plus
Enhance your Registration Page with a Custom Logo, Password Field, Invitation Codes, Disclaimers, Captcha Validation, User Moderation, Profile Fields, Duplicate Email Registration Detection and more.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/register-plus/

The ShareThis WordPress plugin provides a simple way for users to add your post to many social bookmarking sites, or to send a link to your post via email, AIM, Facebook, Twitter and more.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/share-this/

Twitter Tools
Twitter Tools is a plugin that creates a complete integration between your WordPress blog and your Twitter account.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/twitter-tools/

Digg This
WP Digg This is a plugin that adds a Digg button, but with a twist. Instead of adding a Digg button to all your posts, WP Digg This plugin selectively adds the button only to posts you want.

Just like Windows Vista, Windows 7 can be used legally for up to 120 days without activating with a valid 25-character alphanumeric product key. Windows typically comes with a 30-day time limit for users to activate their copy of the operating system, but there’s a command that is often used by corporate administrators to reset the 30-day countdown. The rearm command can be used up to three times without violating the Windows 7 EULA. Thus, if the user resets the countdown on the last day each time, he or she can gain up to 90 extra days to use Windows 7 legally and for free. The Windows Secrets newsletter outlined the step-by-step instructions for extending the grace period:

Step 1: Click Start, All Programs, Accessories. Right-click Command Prompt and choose Run As Administrator. Enter your administrator password.

Step 2: Type the following command and press Enter: slmgr -rearm (note the space after slmgr and the hyphen in front of rearm.)

Step 3: Restart Windows 7.

Most users won’t have to bother with these three steps since the majority, about 95 percent, get new versions of Windows with a new computer. For the five percent or so who purchase Windows 7 at retail, 30 days is likely enough to punch in the product key. Pirates will of course have their own methods to get around activation, and here’s confirmation that they have plenty of time to do so. No, this is certainly aimed at administrators who need to delay activation for whatever reason, and even though 120 days seems a little over the top, we’re sure many of them are relieved to know the number of days hasn’t been reduced in Vista’s successor.

Ofcom, the communications watchdog, which has already cut the time it takes to transfer a mobile phone number from five days to two days, hopes speeding up the process will encourage more consumers to switch providers in order to get better deals.

Ed Richards, chief executive of Ofcom, said: “We would like to see easier, faster and more convenient processes to enable consumers to keep their number when they switch mobile provider.”

Ofcom said the new arrangement, which should come into force in 2011, would make Britain the fastest country for number “porting” in Europe.

The watchdog first proposed the change in 2007, but the plans were scuppered last year when the Competition Appeals Tribunal (CAT) ruled that Ofcom had failed to prove that speeding up the process would cost operators only £5m.

The UK’s larger operators, led by Vodafone, had argued that the process would cost “significantly more”.

A spokesman for Vodafone said: “Our goal is a system that’s convenient, works reliably and lets customers make informed decisions without compromising vital consumer safeguards against slamming, mis-selling and fraud.

“We are always open to ideas for genuine improvements, but they must give real customer benefits at a proportionate cost.”

Ofcom is also proposing changes to rules which force the customer to contact their provider to request a “PAC code” before they can switch to a new network.

In most European countries the network the customer wants to move to (known as the recipient) arranges the number transfer.

Ofcom said its research showed most British consumers would prefer British operators adopted the same practice.

Matt Hatton, analyst at Analysys Mason, said: “A change to a recipient-led process may make it easier for consumers to switch providers, but it could led to an increase in ’slamming’, where a customers’ provider is changed without their consent.”

HTC has upped its predicted portion of Android phones from 30 to 50 per cent of all devices in 2010.

Following the success of its first three efforts, the G1, Magic and Hero, the Taiwanese phone maker will likely focus less on Windows Mobile and more on the mobile Google OS.

The report by Digitimes also states that HTC is bringing out another high profile handset (shocking) in September or October of this year based on Qualcomm’s BREW Mobile Platform.

Go-between

This platform acts as a go-between for applications and the hardware, making it easier for developers to code for the phone without having to worry about the interface. This in turn helps lower the cost of the handset too.

The new device will also use the new HTC Sense UI and TouchFLO 3D interface, as the company looks to build on the imminent success of the Hero.

It’s unknown whether this new device will be Android- or Windows Mobile-powered, as September or October will be the point when WinMo 6.5 is likely to be released.
