The small towns of Northern England raise a certain type of techno-head. When you grow up regularly spending three hours sitting on a coach just to hear Scott Brown hammer it out to a sea of beetroot-face gurners at Rezerection, it shows a lot of commitment... It develops a passion, not for posing in the gauche bars of Berlin, but for letting yourself go and dancing like no-one watching. And for Sunderland-born Sarah Mono, that will always be the true spirit of techno. It was the late-90s Birmingham scene that really shaped Sarah's musical tastes. After hearing the likes of Regis, Paul Damage and, of course, the insuperable Surgeon, regularly destroy the dancefloor at House Of God, there was no turning back. And while her musical tastes have evolved, Sarah's passion and dedication to that raw, floor-focussed spirit has never changed. Her DJ sets move from the dark, industrial and brooding through to the pounding and hypnotic, but wherever and whatever she plays, Sarah's selections are always guided by that true spirit techno - and her undying devotion to the dancefloor. Born and raised in UK, Spanish by decent Shaun Estrago has been involved in music since an early age. From his first pair of turntables, initially collecting harder sounds, but after being introduced to Electronic music moved into new sounds, deeper and more grooving. He started playing his sounds out at his own parties which see him promote and play alongside DJs like Reboot, Martinez, Einzelkind and Cassy amongst many others. In September 2010 Shaun moves to London to continue his passion and devote his time to learning music production techniques and running his new party Caballo Ldn focusing on unearthing and championing some of the best names in forward thinking House and Techno, held in various locations around East London.

Yoshitaca is a next generation DJ / Producer that is expected to lead the future in the dance music scene. He started his career in 2003 being a resident DJ at Sunday Afternoon Party of WOMB, which is one of the most famous nightclubs in Tokyo, Japan. At the same time, he has played with DJs from all over the world. 29th Podcast...we are almost 30. This time we have a live set for you, a live set that showcases the talent of one of Metroline... well actually... Retrometro latest discoveries: Sailor Mood. The Genoa based duo (whose members are Giovanni Verrina e Ory J) have just been featured on Retrometro latest release, RM12 which was released (for the very first time for Metroline little sister label) on 12 inch as well as digital. Giovanni Verrina for the past 12 years has been a guiding light in the Genoa club scene, before resident at Zerodieci Club and now at Wakeup! night in Fellini with his sets in a continuous search for the world more underground sounds, from Detroit to South America, to Berlin . Ory J alias Orazio Bongiovanni has also been a slave to the turn-tables since 1990 playing underground sound and techno. His first forays into production came in 2007, with the publication of his first EP on Berlin based label Autist Records. With a shared passion for exploring the the underground sounds of many continents the duo have created a wealth of new music. All displaying an adoring influence of the classic sounds of oldschool Chicago house. This live set is a sort of best of from Sailor Mood productions released in the last 12 months, it includes the tracks featured on RM12 as well as others from their releases on All Inn labels. It is a great way to get familiar with the duo old school house sound...enjoy!

Hope you have been enjoying as much as we have! So...our guest in June 2011 is Italian dj and producer Stefano Lotti with a dj set recorded live at the club Alibi in Rome on the 15th of April 2011...it is a belter! Stefano was born in 1984. His great love for electronic music came while he still was very young. In 2002 he began his career as a producer. A few years later he moved from a small town of south Italy to Milan (where he is currently living). Stefano has played in many clubs around the world, and today is appreciated by a lot of people and has collaborations with leading artists of the international electronic scene. His songs have been remixed by famous producers like Akiko Kiyama, Tractile, Mathias Schaffhauser, Matteo Spedicati, Dustin Zahn, Mike Wall, Alessio Mereu. The tracks produced by Stefano are in the playlist of the most important djs in the world (Paco Osuna, Tim Xavier, Joseph Capriati, Francesco Farfa, Xpansul, Mihalis Safras, Len Faki ...). The productions and performances of Stefano Lotti are now one of the most interesting connections between techno and groovy house.

May 2011, Metroline Podcast Number 27...please welcome a fresh Metroline Limited signing: Bodj. The Greek producer will release a 5 tracker filled with tech house bombs on our imprint towards the end of the summer, here is a teaser of his mixing skills for now! Bodj began to collect music at the age of 12 after being put on to rock and punk by friends who would kindly compile tapes for him. By 15 he discovered a talent for the art of graffiti prompting him to begin collecting old school hip hop, disco and early electro. His passion for b boy art forms eventually led him one step further and by 2000 Bodj began to play hip hop through house to a soulful style for friends at small venues around and about... Early 2005 Bodj took classes in sound engineering and electronic music production at the SAE institute of technology, the same period saw an explosion of the tech house scene in which he immersed himself fully. Influenced by his studies and a new breed of house and techno producers Bodj was driven to further develop his own skills and cement a style based around house and techno and their variable sub-genres. Bodj has an impeccable mixing style and technique has made him one of the hottest Athenian djs for the time being, with appearances at respected Greek venues and festivals such as Entechno festival, European Music Day, Six Dogs, Loop just to name a few.. Welcome to Metroline Limited Podcast Episode 26 by French tech-house golden boy Clio. Clio released the huge For Sure Baby on Metroline Limited last summer, a track and an EP that went on to become the best selling Metroline's to date and found their way in the dj boxes of some of the biggest dj's out there! After spending the last few years in train yards across France and Europe,Clio now expresses his feelings with music. Gathering inspiration from "random minimal" sounds and tech-house, as well as influences such as Dance music, Dub,Hip Hop and Jazz . From early sessions with his friend "Romain", Clio was really introduced to music production by Kane Roth. He released his first remix for Lega and Julie Amadeo's "Sunken Sleep", on "Miniscule" netlabel (US 2008 ) Since then, he has worked on his own characteristic sound based on a groovy and funny approach of music ,aimed at the dance-floor, but "cool" enough to appreciate it at home or in the living room. After few remixes and collaborations,Clio is now focusing on his own project. With his first solo EP (Metroline Limited 37D) Clio gains some good exposure, as the track "For Sure Baby" is really well received and heavily supported during the whole summer 2010 in Ibiza by Loco Dice. Hello and welcome back to Metroline Podcast. We took a month off, we know, but we are back with a vengeance with our 25th episode featuring one of Metroline Limited most inventive and forward thinking artists: Aurelien Riviere aka Doubtingthomas. London based Aurelien (DoubtingThomas) first started his musical journey in 1998 after a childhood obsession with drums and their rythmatic allure. Producing down tempo and electronic sounds led to a rapid progression into live recordings and soundscaping which lured him away from France and into London in 2000. Here he studied Sound Engineering at the acclaimed SAE and continued his ever growing passion for composition always in the look for rare music with a twist. Years of record collecting, playing and collaborating around Europe have seen him find his own original and defined sound, influences of which we undoubtedly see stream their way throughout his production and live sets today. We also see him working for the established Juno Records as well producing for commercial advertising. His down tempo, minimal house and quirky techno always look for the patterns and structure of the inner sound. Sequences within the sound, reaction of the mind and body as well as the interaction of images across the music....these are the ideas behind Aurelien's music. Doubtingthomas has delivered something really special for our monthly episode: a beautiful mix of his unreleased downtempo songs. As promised...here's September's Metroline Podcast double treatment! For our chapter 20 we are proud to have Hamid from the Half Baked crew. Hamid will soon release his debut EP on Metroline Limited too...keep your eyes peeled! DJ and producer Hamid was instantly immersed in music, growing up in the quiet south east of France. Brought up as by far the youngest of 5, his early years were full of musical inspiration from all genres and era's. In 2006 he moved to London. The city, its playground of rhythm and creative diversity were literally music to his ears; pulling him deeper in love with sound more than ever before Hamid began securing his place on the city’s house and techno scene. Playing over the years that followed at numerous venues and parties, most notably Tbar, Public Life and various underground events. Hamid’s current residency at London’s hottest Sunday party Half Baked, continues to see Hamid play amongst some of London and Europe’s most respected artists. Hamid met and began collaborating with a collective of people that continue to inspire him today. Collaborations with DoubtingThomas, who we see remix on Hamid ’s upcoming ‘Mentalo Disco’ EP on Metroline With so many elements that have been essential in his growth as a DJ, and more recently, a producer, it's unsurprising that we see such a sense of maturity in his work at such a young age. Hamid 's sound varies eclectically, from his DJ sets to solo productions, collaborations and live work. Latin and tribal ambiences are entwined with down tempo jazz and seductive vocals. Percussion and brass sit alongside deep and heavy rhythmic bass, always focusing on a strong and dominant platform of techno and deep house. It's erotic and dark, sensual and classical, encompassing so many genres and styles in one, a minefield of experimentation that works and forces our minds and bodies into his world. Hamid is part of the Half Baked collective as resident and in-house sound engineer as well as London based project Maison Close. Housing a diverse group of talent, Maison Close’s artists include Greg Brockmann, Robin Ordell, DoubtingThomas, Rainer, Mark Chambers and Hamid himself. 2010 see’s Hamid ’s ‘Mentalo Disco’ EP release on Metroline Limited. Originally from NYC but now Berlin based, Elon is famous for some great releases on labels such as Clink, Dumb Unit and our own Retrometro imprint. Born in the late 1980 in Puglia (Italy), he takes his first steps towards music as a child playin guitar and drums in different bands. He began lovin electro music during his childhood and he starts following artists such as Royksopp and The Knife, so popular around 2000, and he starts appreciating all the club scene close to this kind of sounds.thats when he feels the need to express himself behind the desks, evolving his sound trough the various undergrounds trends of the time. He has payed in many clubs, djing on the local party circuit, until 2008 - 2009 when he decides to get closer to music production. His first release is a side for PUP, an Italian young label, producing pup 01 n pup 02 and further tracks supported by international artists as Richie Hawtin, Andre Galluzzi, Federico Molinari, Paco Osuna, Felipe Venegas, DJ Wild, Boris Werner, Andrew Grant and many more. He starts a collaboration with another really appreciated young label: All Inn. The Mabaan Soul project started during a Christmas Party in 2007 when friends Fabio Cicchetti and Lorenzo Avallone decided to run an infamous back to back after hour party in Viareggio, Tuscany. Fabio,24 years, is a sound engineering student in Milan and provides the technical know how to the team. Lorenzo, 23 years, is a dj and provides the tripping creative composition of the productions . Combine these two talents together and they flow with an unique electronic heart. Mabaan Soul are inspired by the legendary DJ Sneak and the fresh approach of Nick Curly. The sound of the Mabaan Soul studio productions is a blend of nu and deep house with a sprinkling of Detroit techno and latin vibes brought together by using Logic, Ableton and Reason. Claus Voigtmann was born in Bavaria- Germany. Art in general has always played a major part of Claus’ life. He has graduated in Architecture Engineering in Munich besides having done designs which include projects such as a car design as part of a collaboration for Audi, web design, flyers, furniture design, etc. Since it is of so important for Claus to express himself in various artistic ways it is not hard to see why he ended up choosing music as a form of expression. Listening to his sets it can be seen that his musical knowledge is very refined, not only by being technically competent but he seems to have what it takes to take his crowd on a journey with a very sensible set construction and by presenting a good/well researched track selection which goes away from the ‘hype’ within the underground music spectrum available. Another month, another Metroline Limited podcast. February 2010 welcomes Franco Bianco from Dilek Records with a LIVE and a DJ set recorded in Cyprus in 2009. Born in Buenos Aires, Franco Bianco grew up having a lot of contact with the music, making mix tapes for the breaks in the school and sharing a lot of young experiences. Playing vinyl since 1998, he participates in many events in the biggest clubs and radio stations of his natal city. In 2004, he presents himself in one of the most important festivals of Argentina: the Personal Festa, sharing line ups with artists like: Pet Shop Boys, Morrisey, Death in Vegas and Gustavo Ceratti among others Actually he is producing releases, remixes and collaborates with labels such as Multivitamins, Hypercolour, and in the past years, he released on Unfoundsound, Meerestief and Lessizmore. One of the latest Fabric compilations, (the fabric 38, mixed by M.A.N.D.Y) includes his track: Noches de Superaciona as intro. The last three years have been very intense, giving him a new start in his career, with successful releases which were remixed by artists such as Marek Hemmann, Tony Rohr, Bloody Mary, Sarah Goldfarb, Federico Molinari, Seuil and Someone Else. In 2007 he had a huge tour which began in Australia, passed by Egypt, and went through 13 countries. With a total of 32 Live presentations over 4 months, where he shared line ups with Steve Bug, Tiefschwarz, Matthew Johnson, Dominik Eulberg, Marco Carola, and many many more. A new tour was scheduled for 2008 in Europe and Central America, to support the Mola vinyl and Origenes EP. This tour was again a huge experience where he also had the chance to play in new places, such as Lithuania, Poland, Colombia, Dominican Republic and last but not least, the Argentinean edition of the Creamfields Buenos Aires, one of the biggest festivals around the globe. 2008 saw also coming his first EP on Dilek Records, Mola (with remixes of Tony Rohr and Bloody Mary), and it was a total success, still played by Laurent Garnier, Anderson Noise, Ivan Smagghe, Frankie, Andre Crom, Nathan Coles, Tim Xavier, Brothers Vibe, Loco Dice and many others. During 2009, he had many gigs (like the ones in Denmark, Spain, Cyprus, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany and Mexico), and he started another tour to support the Planchete Lateral EP that had enormous amounts of feedbacks and was already sold out few days after the release date. He also worked a lot in his vinyl label Dilek Records, where we can find artists like Pier Bucci, Alexi Delano and Mathias Schaffnauser amongst others artists of his digital sub label Darek Recordings. At the end of this year, he will go back to Argentina to start another South American tour, so be sure to keep an eye on him.

James Venturi is an avid record collector and a very eclectic artist. He started djing at the age of 15 and has never given up his dream of leaving a small mark in the electronic music business. Metroline Podcast gets to double figures! It feels like yesterday when we started making these mixes available on line and we already got to number 10. We'll celebrate properly when we get to number 50. Anyway, our guest "selecta" for our latest podcast is Gaetan Le Gargasson aka Guet, one half of french based tech-house duo Room 10. Guet, together with his production partner Hector Pizarro, have released one of Metroline's biggest releases to date, the Caracol EP which included the storming Alejandro Vivanco remix. Caracol EP will soon be followed by Room 10's next release for Metroline Limited. Los Gritos EP is always a couple of weeks away from release date and will include a remix from other hot duo: Horacio. About Guet: In 1995, GueT starts his career as a DJ, mixing hard and dark tunes. Progressively, he goes into new sounds, deeper and more jazzy, playing in many events and working on various musical projects. These last years, he focuses on 3 main collaborations : !nfrajazz, Room 10 and more recently Tree Hand Music. Launched in 2002 in weekly parties, the !nfrajazz project still goes on with the eponymous weekly radio show on ValleeFM where musicians play acoustic parts on GueT's inspired mixes. In 2005, he created with Hector Pizarro, the "Room 10", a duet of musicians with multiple and complementary influences. The two joined forces in the studio to produce some hypnotic and minimal sounds: a first release on Pinksilver’s ‘Expansion EP’, a remix on ‘Impossible objects EP’ , and some releases on Metroline, Toppaz Digital and more… 2008 gives them the opportunity to play live their own sound in Berlin, Barcelona, Amsterdam... His very last project is the creation of a label: " Tree Hand Music" with Charles and Vincent from Solead. For Podcast number 8, Metroline is very proud to have one of its long time friends Ian Funk who delivers a great mix of minimal techno and deep house named "Do They Still Make Vinyl? Mix". US based artist, Ian released one of the early Metroline Limited releases, the stunning No Hands EP and runs the label Stir Sounds. Ian has been involved with music since the age of 8, when he picked up his first guitar. At 15, he bought a set of second-hand turntables and everything changed. Now, at 22 he has a slew of remixes under his belt and stays busy running the StirSound Netlabel as well as working on various musical projects. His productions range from techno to ambient. On his own, he writes under several guises such as Jon Doe, The Ambiguous They, and Apocalipstick. He is one half of DownTime alongside Adam Virga (aka April Vallen). Fresh from releasing some of the hottest music of the last few weeks, the double chapter Twin Peaks EP on our own Metroline Limited and the Horacio EP on Raum Music with fellow neapolitan artist, Massi DL, Rio Padice delivers an equally stunning mix for the 6th installment of our podcast series. Spanning across 21 traclks, the mix features many of Rio's own productions, unreleased tracks from promos and demos that the artist got given by fellow friends and uo and coming producers and a few old house and techno classic jems that Rio dug out from his collection especially for this mix. Versatile artist, he is mainly a designer. Dario di Pace was born in Naples in 1983. He has attended several art schools and he is about to complete his degree in stage-design. Always interested in arts, he decided to get into music in 2006, when he bought on-purpose software and created an art studio in his apartment where he also shows some of his works like sceneries and comics in indian ink. His tracks were mainly conceived for live performances, but later his contacts with some net labels brought in ideas for new projects. He started with an initial sound deep- tech, later enriched by funky and minimal influences. His debut as composer was in January 2007 on a new net label from Milan, ExM records, with his very first work Japanese Airone. During that year he has collaborated also with Minisketch and Uvdog releasing digital tracks. In December 2008 he published his first vinyl Ep on Mosaiko Musik called CLB, played by Jeff Samuel and Anderson Noise who putted it in a released mix for the compilation by La Terraza Bcn (Circle Music). His second vinyl was for him the turning point. The Gosh! Ep released on June 2008 has been putted in most important tracklist played around the world as Richie Hawtin’s. During the summer time he took a period in wich he started to study other subgenres of electronic music as dub, housy, deep and jazzy thinking about his next projects as FU8 Ensamble and Ragga Fonda. As this new nick he published on Mosaiko Limited in September 2008 a new 12” called “Memories” Ep featuring a brazilian vocalist Luisa De Abreu. At the present he is working for Mutekki Media, Metroline Ltd, Welt Sounds and Kina Music. The fifth episode of Metroline Limited Podcast features german techno star Mike Wall. Mike has so far been one of the key artists on Metroline Limited contributing with two releases to the label's catalogue: MLTD007, Loose Changes EP and MLTD014, Vacuum Packed EP. For the first time in the series Metroline Limited Podcast 05 is not a dj mix but a LIVE set featuring only tracks produced by Mike Wall himself. The hour long LIVE set showcases the Berlin based artist trademark sound in all its shapes and forms. The vibe is dark and minimal and sometimes hypnothic, the pace shifts fast between dark and mental sections and groovy techno numbers with a very clever use of very cool vocal samples. Mike Wall is based in Berlin. Besides Metroline he has released on labels such as Safari Electronique, Dliek & his own Orphik Recordings amongst others. His productions sound like the perfect connection between minimal techno and groovy beats. Creating his own style of Techno is the reason he’s doing fantastic livesets as well including all the different sound structures, glitches, bleeps and basses he’s interested in and let him feel balanced. As owner of the label "Orphik Recordings" he’s responsable for finding new talents and doing great party nights in Berlin. Playing rare records, pushing no name labels and artists and having the best fun out of it is his credo.

Metroline Podcast Series welcomes Jorge Savoretti, the first of many guest djs to be featured on the series. From Rosario, Argentina, Jorge had one appearance on Metroline Limited catalogue with his stunning remix of Suokas track Shivers released on MLTD008 in June 2008. The mix that Jorge submitted for Metroline Podcast Volume 4 is not a studio mix but it was recorded live in Munich at the Harry Klein Club in January 2009. From that moment, he became a relentless music collector, accumulating diverse material ranging in genres from house to synth-pop. In 1996, he made his first attempt behind the turntables as a bedroom dj. Only 15 years old at this time, he began to explore the techno sounds in his hometown, Rosario, Argentina, and was influenced by Argentine favorites Franco Cinelli and Dee Jason. After he started playing in nightclubs in 1999, Jorge took part of countless events both underground and massive. His most accomplished residency was at El Sotano, one of the historical and premier influential clubs of the Argentine underground. He shared the privilege with Nicolas Purman, Franco Cinelli and Lucas Mari. They worked together for three seasons, and developed an exquisite combination of techno and house music, emphasizing on the minimal aspects of the genres and combining it with the spirited electronic sounds of Chicago and Detroit. Jorge with his hard work, dedication, and love for music aides his consistent growth as a DJ, and now he is gaining momentum as a producer as well. His successful debut release in 2005, Frozen, came out on the Argentine net label Igloo, and led him to his first vinyl EP on Esperanza. Afterwards, he also released on labels like Mupa, Dumb Unit (in which he releases his project along with Seph called Geoph Serge), Telegraph or recently M-nus. Consequently, his first European tours started immediately. Nowadays Jorge already played in a lot of the most prestigious clubs around the globe and is already establishing his name as a trademark of quality.
