Madeleine Greene, MS, CFCS, AFC has seen many financial horror stories in her long career in teaching financial literacy. Those experiences fuel the speaker, author, TV and radio show host and panelist at the Maryland Women’s Conference to continue her quest to educate people on financial basics.

To that end, Ms. Greene has co-authored The Best Little Money Book – Make Money Work for You, which will be given to every attendee of the Maryland Women’s Conference. The conference is set for Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Frederick Holiday Inn & Conference Center.

The 80-page book, which is in its second printing, is purposely brief. “Those 400 – 500 page books are ridiculous! No one reads them. People want answers – they want to get to the heart of the matter quickly,” said Ms. Greene.

Although Greene had known and collaborated with fellow authors Karen Brelsfor, CFP, Stephen D. Hannan, JD, and JoAnn Linck, AFC, Credit Report Reviewer, for many years, the financial collapse of late fall 2008 catapulted them into action.

“This book is about coping, knowledge and problem-solving in the new economy,” says Greene. “Women, especially, need to protect their own interests and be confident in their financial decisions,” she stresses.

Ms. Greene will join Dave Esworthy, Market President for First United Bank & Trust and a local attorney that specializes in bankruptcy in discussing debt management and how families can keep debt from destorying their futures.

Greene has personal experience with seniors facing money issues – especially women. Her father, an engineer, passed away unexpectedly at 52. He’d handled all of the financial issues, and her mother “didn’t know anything about money, and refused to talk about money. Later in life I was her guardian and executor. I realized she’d made some huge financial mistakes that could have been avoided,” said Greene.
