~ Feeling SO much better... only took 3 rounds of antibiotics and 2 rounds of prednisone!

~ So busy coffee is now a food group (hasn't it always been?)

~ Knee deep in knit-writing for Juniper Moon!

~ So busy that the only pics I've managed to take have all been Instagram---> emailed to myself----> dropped into Typepad. Done.

~ Had to promise Tater some new mama-sewn dresses just as soon as all this work deadline craziness is under control because I haven't made her a dang thing lately.

~ Coming to terms with the fact that I'm going to need to cut all new Oliver and S patterns for Bubba... he's grown so much and I really want to revisit his little shorts I made last year. Plus I still have some Spoonflower knits here that were supposed to end up at t-shirts for him.

~ Drooling over Happy Go Lucky! If there's only 1 fabric I splurge on this spring/summer it going to this one... I LOVE the color combination. Maybe a B-day present to myself and a quilt for MY room?

~ STILL need to put the binding on Tater's quilt. Now that its spring. Oops.

~ Anybody else notice that the average daily temperatures are slowly creeping up? Can you say gardening-tractors-hiking-frisbee-picnic-deck-wine? 'Cuz I can!

Lately...

Knitting... a spring collection.

Planning.... a fall collection.

Still looking... at Tater's unfinished quilt.

Watching... as Bubba outgrows every piece of clothing I made him this winter.

Listening... as he puts words together in that little warble-y voice only 2 year olds have.

Sorting... seeds, ideas, recipes.

Waiting... for more sunshine.

Loving.... all of the above and then some.

Things are moving right along here despite some recent bumps in the road. I've been sick for over a month now with what we're apparently referring to as "borderline pneumonia". That said, I'm heading back to the doctor tomorrow for the 3rd time as the last round of meds resulted in no change whatsoever. Aside from just feeling like crap the thing that bothers me most is that I can't run and breathe at the same time. Trust me. I've tried. Like an idiot.

So running at the lake has been reduced to walking and light jogging with a few days of hellish hiking. Better than nothing but frustrating in a big way.

Also made the decision to drop my classes. The classes plus 2 jobs, 3 kids, and a partridge in a pear tree was just a bit much. Something had to give and classes can always be picked up again later. Once I made the decision my stress level dropped by about a million so it was the right thing to do.

So all in all... things are busy-good. I should soon have knitting news of the its-okay-to-blog-about-it variety but right now I'm keeping it all under wraps.... pun intended!

I figured I better post something before another week scoots by. How did it get to be Thursday already?

Shall we go with me favorite bullet-y statement catch-up post? Alright-y then...

~ This box is heading out to Juniper Moon Farm. There's a knit sample in it. Duh.

~ Susan invited me back to do some more design work with the Sabine yarn line. See, I sort of feel like Sabine is my baby since I did the original patterns when it was a new yarn line so I'm super excited to be invited back for more. If you haven't gotten your grabby knitter hands on some Sabine yet... you really should!

~ I hear there's some new Sabine colors right around the corner.

~ Maybe I'll see what I can do about getting a little Sabine up in here to send out to a lucky reader or two.

~ Did I just say that? Don't tell Susan.

Honeycomb on stripes...

So today while I was supposed to be going through some verb tense and verb voice exercises for class I was smocking. Or rather I was sewing something I already smocked. And yeah, I know, doing the classwork would be the mature thing to do but instead I was sort of throwing a quiet fit and doing what I wanted to do instead.

Some shirting cotton from a while back. Striped, so I only needed to mark out the horizontals and viola... smocking.

Crumple-y rumple-y cotton stitched into a neat little honeycomb panel.

Sweet and simple. A perfect little nightgown. No extra embroidery because as soon as I was done snapping a few pictures she hurried off to her room and wouldn't bring it back. She's upstairs sound asleep all curled up in it now.

Pattern is my own that I've been toying with. I'm still not quite happy with the neckline so there's more toying to do.
