FIVE MINUTES WITH ...Wendy Brandes

I adore gorgeous Wendy Brandes's covetable luxury fine jewelry and so do the likes of red carpet royalty like Liv Tyler. Her jewelry has been featured in leading magazines such as W magazine, Marie Claire, GENLUX,O-The Oprah magazine, ESSENCE, Modern Jeweler, Jezebel etc. The great press is a no-brainer as her pieces are eye catching, bold and utterly clever. I am particularly drawn to Brandes's strong mechanical (think delightful pieces that can be unscrewed, twisted or open and close) designs.

A wonderful theme that seems to be the ongoing inspiration for her pieces is strong women with intriguing stories. Think designs inspired by the unfortunate wives of Henry VIII, Nefertiti and other interesting women

1.Hi Wendy, hope you are well darling. One funny thing from your week so far?
Last week, when I started working on this interview, two friends in different parts of the world sent me photos of hilarious drink names: Diet Cock and the Ike Turner! 2.Tell us a bit about your stunning jewelry...

Another characteristic of my jewelry that you can't see in pictures -- so it always shocks people -- is how much heft my rings and necklaces have. I don't skimp on metal. When you pick up my handmade Nuit ring http://wendybrandes.com/pro-detail.php%20colid=28&collect=true&id=475 you find out what an ounce of gold feels like. That says "Luxury" to me. Of course, my earrings aren't that heavy. I wouldn't want the customer to wind up with lobes that stretch to the ground.

3.I read that your first designs were your engagement and wedding rings. How did this come about?
Standard diamond solitaires depress me. I wanted something that represented my style. In fact, I wanted everything related to my wedding to represent my style. A lot of women think, "I'm going to have this ring/these pictures forever, so they have to be classic." Boring! I look at the wedding photos now and think, "Too safe"!

4.You seem to be inspired by strong historical women from English Royalty to Nefertiti. Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I've always been intrigued by women who led extraordinary lives in times and places where they had no real rights. Empress Matilda is one of my favorites, kicking ass and taking names in the 12th century. 5.Lipstick shade that you are currently addicted to?
I'm all about red and I just can't quit MAC's Lasting Lust http://wendybrandes.com/blog/2008/07/red-lipstick-1-macs-lasting-lust/ .I need to get some more. I'm on my last tube right now.

6.If you could only wear one piece of jewelry. It’d be?
Definitely my one-of-a-kind onyx skull ring with hidden diamonds http://wendybrandes.com/pro-detail.php?colid=32&collect=true&id=420 ). My website says the price is available upon request, but I'd rather that no one request it. I only want to sell that ring to Lady Gaga, Madonna or Beyonce. It either goes to a megastar or it stays with me.

7.You are throwing a fancy dress party, what or who do you go as?
You might think Marie Antoinette (I've already done Anne Boleyn-- http://wendybrandes.com/blog/2008/10/anne-boleyn-postmortem ) but I've always wanted to look like Jim Morrison for a day.

8.Your Party trick?
I wish I could say that I tie cherry stems into knots with my tongue, but that would be a lie. Instead, I entertain people by opening up three or four pieces of jewelry to show them various hidden compartments. A few years ago, when I was the only not-famous person at a dinner, Queen Noor of Jordan saw me open a bunch of rings and left off talking to Michael Douglas to say, "Ooh." That's all she said: "Ooh." And it's still one of the best compliments I ever received.

9.Your current collections?
You mean stuff I collect as opposed to my jewelry collection, right? In that case, I'll say "grievances."

10.Last movie you watched?
"Precious." I still have my 1996 original edition of the book ("Push" by Sapphire) on which the movie is based. I also remember sitting on the beach with my mother and reading that book. My mother asked, "Would I like that book?" and I considered a moment and said, "NO!" I can barely remember what I did yesterday, so I'm not sure why I recall that little exchange from 1996.

11.Love your gorgeous jaw dropping ‘Venus’ earrings from your ‘Eden’ collection. Tell us a bit about that collection.

With my queen-related and historical pieces, I usually work from a concept and find the materials to bring that concept to life. The pieces in the Eden collection are more likely to be inspired by the gems I find. For instance, the cabochon-cut rose quartz that I used for the first Venus pieces immediately brought the "Morning Star" concept to mind, complete with diamond "stars."

12.Your blog shows a love of vintage, you have some great pieces by designers like Ossie Clark, Patrick Kelly, Moschino Cheap & Chic etc. Most recent vintage fashion purchase?
A black Patrick Kelly dress that's covered with little bows in rainbow colors. While researching the dress, I found a clip of Bette Davis mentioning Kelly on the David Letterman show in the '80s. I'd been looking for that footage for a while http://wendybrandes.com/blog/2008/05/meet-80s-designer-patrick-kelly/ . Bette was a damn good salesperson. I wish she were around to wear my designs.

13.You are a proud New Yorker, if a tourist had an hour to see NY for the first time where would you take them to?

14.You recently had a two day pop shop, tell us about it.
I don't have a regular storefront where I can show my full line so it's great to have the opportunity to personally show the whole collection. (About a dozen of my pieces are available in a great store called Broken English in Santa Monica, Calif.) I love to tell people, "Hold out your hand!" and then drop a one-ounce ring or pendant into their palms. Their stunned expressions are priceless!

15.Five words synonymous with your designs...
Amazing, amusing, feminine and feminist. Yeah, I'm counting "and" as one of the words!

My collage, sketches and outfit express my love for Miuccia Prada's Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2010 collection. I am so completely enamoured by it that it inspired my outfit today (70's floral print vintage blouse and KG by Kurt Geiger shoes). How charming is the mix of child-like bird, cat, puppy dog, flower and cheeky naked women prints?

The prints were paired with playful adult cuts/silhouettes, sheer inserts all topped with the most delish sequin-paillettes and crystal embellishment. The mix of the innocent and sexy created an entrancing Lolita woman-child feel.

Being an old soul I heart the 1970's feel to the collection evident in the large collars, the smocking details, the bell shaped sleeves and the chunky heeled platform soled footwear. Do not even get me started on the shoes! In my opinion they are what dreams are made off. The shoes have the right mix of naivety, endearment factor and retro nostalgia. An inkling tells me all the rad girls will be wearing Miu Miu next Summer...

I love a great t-shirt, they are so versatile! In my book they belong in the 'greatest garments invented ever' hall of fame. How stunning did Tolula Adeyemi,Kate Hudson and Penelope Cruz look last night at the red carpet World Premiere of the movie 'Nine'?

The dress code was GLAMOROUS and from the looks of these breath taking gowns,it was dreamy glamour non stop. Heart that the tones of their dresses are all from a similar Wintry colour palette.

Adoring Penelope's Ralph Lauren Spring 2010 feathered gown! Also the structure of Kate's Atelier Versace Autumn/Winter 2009 piece blows me away!

My fave gown of the night? Beautiful Tolula's silvery-blue gown. The actress and model wore an archive Dolce & Gabbana gown,accessorised with lust inducing Jessica McCormack diamonds('Wing of desire' earring & 'Take me under your wings' necklace and a ring)delish Mai Lamore heels and a super elegant Louis Vuitton clutch. Jessica McCormack is insanely talented and her darling pieces are the ones I call upon time after time for my beautiful clients.

The corsetry in that Dolce & Gabbana dress is simply a work of art. Adore the intricate lace up panels at sides too.There is something about it that brings to mind the era of the Supermodel,90's Versace and that Liz Hurley safety pin dress moment. Sheer unadulerated glamour and utter fearless goddess! Tolula looked like liquid platinum in it,it fit her frame to effortless perfection.

A great archive piece like this remains timeless. Finally it is all the more the relevant at the moment,what with innerwear having its glorious moment as outerwear.

It's been a week of pulling abso-freaking-fab frocks for clients for red carpet events + premieres/a major addiction to jade green nail polish/falling in love all over again with Jessica McCormack's diamonds/dealing with a monster tummy bug/gorging on thai food,and I mean lots of thai food/wearing these pants two days in a row.A rad birthday pressie with a rocking print/realising that certain major brands were better in the 90's/considering turning my hair a dark auburn/writing way too many emails/received even way more/SATC on the TV at 3am,what's an insomniac girlie to do?/client outfit emergencies-always fun/craving a good old fashioned sundae/looking forward to the weekend.

Sonia's Spectacular Parisian Extravaganza

The Grand Palais, one of the most famous buildings in Paris, was transformed last night into a fantasy Parisian wonder land for the launch of the Sonia Rykiel for H&M collection. Folk on hand to help celebrate the launch were Kate Bosworth,Jean Paul Gaultier,Eva Herzigova etc

The guests walked through a fantasy forest and were treated to a preview of the delish collection while sitting under a dreamy specially made Eiffel Tower. Adoring the giant horses,the floats,the models on bicycles and swings.

Ah the joy of such a magical child-like night! I heart Sonia and love that it was held in Paris.

I like the collection of coquettish 20's influenced lingerie,accessories(slippers,hairbands,brooches etc) and cheeky colourful feminine knitwear in Sonia Rykiels signature stripes.It is utterly Paris chic and so Sonia(think modern,impertinent,bold,feminine). The lingerie is in H&M stores and 8 major Sonia Rykiel boutiques worldwide from 5th December.

Wishing you attended the huge event? I sure do. It's looks like it was a gigantic fairy tale fun-fair! Kudos to the people at H&M and Sonia Rykiel for putting on such a show.

Macaroons & Champagne...

There is nothing like starting the day with in a decadent luxurious way. My day started by attending a glam Champagne Breakfast to celebrate the launch of the Lounge Lover 'Travel Babe'
set exclusive to Net-A-Porter.On offer were delish yummy macaroon's,croissants, Jules Destrooper almond thins,Champagne,freshly squeezed juice,hot beverages etc. I was gorging on the macarons and my poison of choice? A refreshing moorish orange juice.

Gorgeous Lounge Lover designer Sylvie Gabriel
hosted the breakfast. She showed off the exclusive set which consists of a tank dress,a slouchy loose wonderful pants,wrap cardigan and eye all in a baby soft cashmere-blend light grey jersey(in image one).

I simply refuse to go on another long distance trip before I buy one of these set's! It is the perfect solution to wanting to stay comfortable but remaining put together on a plane flight or long road trip. It's as soft and as light as a feather.

I also had a good rummage through the Spring/Summer 2010 collection(as shown in images above on rails). I love the neutral soothing palette of white,sand,grey in brushed cotton jersey,cashmere etc. I heart the long vest, zip details(how cute are the shorts?),the wrap dress,the slouchy shorts and pretty much everything about these designs! Fabulously refined but super comfy. Delish-easy-chic perfect for living and lounging!

Remember the first time you watched Sex and the City? I do,just like yesterday. I was in garment heaven,like literally! The plot was addictive enough but it was the wardrobe that had me hook,line and sinker.

Samantha,Miranda,Charlotte and Carrie had a signature look that brought their character to life as styled by the iconic Patricia Field.

They all looked wonderful but it was Carrie Bradshaw(as played by Sarah Jessica Parker)who captured the hearts of women worldwide(including mine) with her adventurous eclectic-devil-may-care style.

Soon enough there were girls all over wearing name necklaces,over sized flower corsages,Manolo's,vintage slip dresses,luxe bed/opera coats,capes etc in homage to Carrie.Can you blame them when Carrie was the most stylish girl on TV?! She threw an outfit together like no other. Pairing mismatched prints,vintage,street wear and well known designer labels with panache.

Above are just a few of the wonderful outfits that Carrie wore,I adore them all! How gorge is the Balenciaga metallic limited edition patchwork top(last image),the vibrant Dolce & Gabbana floral dress(second to last image) and the genius mix of the Marni Spring/Summer 2002 floral dress and the striped hem jacket(third to last image)?

The beauty about Carrie's style was not necessarily what she wore but how she did it. She had fun with her outfits,which she wore with nonchalance.

Let this post inspire you to experiment and to wear what you want boldly! Sometimes we are a tad timid to break the mold or too frightened off making fashion mistakes to try the new but in the words of Carrie herself...
“Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate.”

There was an American called Harry Gordon Selfridge,
who opened a departmental shop in London in 1909.
A place where people could shop and fine dine.

People soon came from both far and near to see Harry's swish store.
It became world famous for its canny displays, the customer being right and so much more.

In 2009 beloved Selfridges turned a grand 100 years old with jolly celebrations.
Fashion shows, lots of designer collaborations marked the occasion.

This holiday season its windows are inspired by fairy tales like
Dick Whittington, Red Riding Hood, Cinderella and Snow White.
For 100 years now Selfridges has pleased, dear brilliant Harry got it right.

I was drooling over all these t-shirts by Wildfox Couture yesterday at their Spring/Summer 2010 preview event. If you recall I was obsessing over them earlier this month. The American vintage inspired women's knitwear brand was influenced by all things 80's for their Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

Emily Faulstich and Kim Gordon, the fab designers behind the brand say everything from Madonna,heavy metal bands to movies like Pretty in Pink and Thelma and Louise inspired the collection.

The designers say "We can all identify with those rebellious fantasies of 'getting away without being caught' or 'love on the run'. Its what fuels the fire in the hearts of everyone-child to adult-the unknown,the exciting adventure and the ultimate depth it brings us all."

How addictive are the graphics and sayings on the tees?! I am loving the new bone/skeleton prints,the 'J'Adore Wildfox' and 'Wildfox No.9' prints.

I just had to play dress up in them! They are super yummy designs,it's no wonder that everyone who is anyone hearts them. Great mix of fun meets addictive meets girly. The American candy(Hershey kisses,Whatchamacallit,Laffy Taffy etc)in the goody bags was just the thing this sweet tooth needed!

LITTLE PRAIRIE GIRL DOES HILLBILLY MEETS UTILITY

I hopped over to preview the WAREHOUSE Spring/Summer 2010 collection held in a large basement space.

Remember when baggy cargo pants were all the rage and varying bands like 'No Doubt’, ‘All Saints' etc rocked them usually paired with boots, crop tops(sometimes in knit)? 15 year old me loved her sandy beige slouchy cargo pants which I'd pair knits and luxe bohemian cropped tops. Well the collection brought those memories flooding back as it focused on easy functional staples with varying sections. My favourites are...

-Utility//WAREHOUSE was formerly known as WAREHOUSE Utility Clothing in 1976. This section of the Spring/Summer 2010 goes back to the brands roots. It is functional designs with a smidgen of nonchalant glamour in a palette of grey & khaki, using well worn fabrics. I love the relaxed military feel to the slouchy tapered cargo pants! So very Isabel Marant meets 90's UK band All Saints. Think the knits are a strong point. Heart the soft roll up hem khaki shorts!

-90's grunge//Think Courtney Love in loose 40's style tea florals paired with loose grungy knits, grandma’s lace & crochet and thermals worn as outerwear etc.

- Classics//Re-worked classics paired with western inspired pieces, super soft denim dresses and slouchy pants, check gingham, fringed suede. So sort of if a sweet little prairie girl goes Hillbilly.

- 90's tailoring//Imagine with me 90's over sized menswear cut tailoring in relaxed fabrics such as lines & washed cotton in a soft palette. There is a blush coloured boyfriend cut blazer that I am adoring!)

The rest of the collection consists of dressy designs. Butter soft tailored leathers, embellished special pieces, strong tuxedo jackets,global traveller influences and oodles more.

So when all the smoozing while nibbling on stuffed darling mini bagels (they looked almost too cute to eat!),cups of divine stew and pomegranate+mint cocktails was done I came to the conclusion that come Spring/Summer 2010 I will inevitably be rocking a lot of these designs and doing Little Prairie girl does Hillbilly meets utility.

So how much do I love my post title? It is a quote by Cher as played by Alicia Silverstone in the 1995 hit Clueless.

She is being mugged at gun point in this car park, the guy asks her to give him her bag and then lie on the ground face down. She hands over her bag but then in reply to the lying down bit say's "Oh no you don't understand it's an Alaia", he asks " An a-what?!..." and Cher replies "It's like a totally important designer..."

Hilarious! That is one of my favourite lines from the movie and that is hard to say as nearly every line in the cult hit is brilliant.

I have had a lifelong affair with Azzedine Alaia. Alaia who hails from Tunisia, North Africa is a true design revolutionary. Other beloved designers such as Yamamoto, Marc Jacobs, and John Galliano etc all hail him as a master of design, iconic, a maverick, design genius etc.

All I know is he is King of construction, cut, corsetry, cut outs, cling (and not just through the use of Lycra!) and curve. His fluid drape is always exquisite! He is a detail oriented artist who truly knows what women want; to be sensual and sexy but via avenues that are not overtly obvious. No one gets the balance of elegance and the sexy quite like he does.

He has not staged a fashion show since 1993 as he believes that it should not be about fickle trends and operates on a small couture house like basis.

I can spot an Alaia a mile off as they are so distinct in design. I adore the ELLE editorial as above which features the designer himself. The pieces in those images are from 2000 but each is so timeless that I would so wear them all now. The cuts of the jackets are impeccable and the skirts drape like a dream!

His accessories are also always abso-freaking-lutely amazing. How out of this world is that footwear?

I do not blame Cher for not wanting to lie down on the filthy ground in her Alaia!

In the middle of my day, I stopped by the NET-A-PORTER Cruise 2010 press day.The popular and fabulous online shopping destination always has some of the yummiest pieces! The Cruise 2010 collection was displayed in a luxurious setting off set with gorgeous candles and roses.

It was lovely seeing the amazing collectionin in the unrushed calm. Everything from divine pieces by Alexander McQueen like that stunning cobalt blue gown,neon leopard print sequin pieces by Ashish(last image),Brian Atwood eyelet studded heels to lust over,darling vintage inspired jewellery by two jewellery designer faves,Erikson Beamon & Mawi respectively,Stella McCartney's sexy meets utter feminine modern elegance,darling D&G Dolce & Gabanna dresses(how coquettish is the D&G piece with the oversized blacks bows in the twelfth image? Layered on top of is a stunning By Malene Birger necklace),envy inducing Preen dresses,heavenly embellished garments and so much more.

I was drooling over all the perfect gift type pieces like Stella McCartney's wonderfully packaged 'Knickers of the week' pack(seven in total,one for each day of the week as pictured in fourth image above),Smythson's sleek stationary
luxurious headpieces & headbands that would make Upper Manhattan's Blair Waldorf green with envy and a delish ton more!

The Thakoon 'disco mirror' jacket(fifth image to last) is abso-freaking-lutely dreamy.
The cut is second to none and the mosaic mirror detailing adds the perfect touch. Forget about designating it just for the evening wear section of my wardrobe,I'd be rocking that baby all day every day.Heart it!

How amazing is the black and white Judith Leiber crystal-embellished clutch?!(fourth to last image) Her designs are divinely handmade with a whole week's worth of man hours going into the making of the one above. It is even more stunning in the real.Simply stunning...

On a last note,I'm adoring the Wool and the Gang Wool and the Gang,'Peruvian wool snood' kit!(third to last image). Parisian based collective,Wool and the Gang are all about making knitting cool by providing fab DIY knit-kit! Kits come with everything(pattern,knitting needles,wool etc) you need to create varying designs including ones for making the on trend snood,gloves,slouchy hats etc. Totally sense a DIY project coming up. Just need to snap up a Wool and the Gang snood kit from yummy NET-A-PORTER first...

Shoppers are going to be kept very busy on NET-A-PORTER site because as usual the stock is wonderfully varied and utterly fabulous!

Vintage midnight blue dress + Kurt Geiger boots + Momo fashion scarf

I am obsessed with this vintage dress which I picked up on my birthday last year at a thrift shop. It is the most gorgeous dark midnight blue-black velvet dress. It has to be the softest piece of velvet ever. Apparently velvet has been deemed OK again by the fashion powers that be,although I could have told them that as I've loved it's -luxurious-shabby-chic-glam allure forever. In my book it was always in style.

I like to think that this slinky number used to be worn by a fun loving girl at Studio 54!

What have you been up to this weekend?

I have been blending pear-apple-white grape cocktails all day,they are dreamy with crushed ice. Non alcoholic fruit cocktails are the love of my life,I'm forever zapping one up. Way too much fun trying new cocktail recipes. Last night it was 'Cool Cow's'(milk-honey-almond extract-crushed ice) to celebrate the start of a fab weekend.

It's Moroccan food tonight-moorish decadent dishes are perfect for cold Winter nights(adore North African cuisine!),followed by plans to stay up all night watching 90's movies like Clueless(how much do I love the wardrobe in this movie? As a teen I literally wanted every outfit Dionne as played by Stacey Dash wore)-Magnolia-Romeo & Juliet(such a beautiful beautiful movie,Claire Danes was magnificent)-Cruel Intentions-American Beauty etc.

She was such a beautiful soul,such a delicate but strong beauty,such a unique personality,incredibly inspiring and so so much more...

Her blog I like to fork myself was well known in the industry.

Love & prayers to all her loved ones at this time.

MIUCCIA PRADA'S BOOK & CAVEWOMAN BIKER SHORTS

Prada is as famous for its revolutionary catwalk designs as it is for it's amazing collaborations and projects with the very best in art, design, architecture, film & photography.
A new book called PRADA now covers all these collaborations and catwalk collections since Miuccia Prada took over helm of the luxury house in the seventies.

The large 708 page tome has wonderful images of iconic designs such as the Prada nylon bag, exquisite photos of the actual design and production process of lots of designs, about 3,885 thumbnail photos of Prada catwalk looks (since 1987),red carpet shots of celebrities in Prada and so much more.It is much more than just your average retrospective account. In my opinion it also points one to Prada's forward thinking mindset and innovation fuelled future.

It is in effect the quintessential Prada book and was edited by Miuccia Prada and husband, Patrizio Bertelli. It's a collaboration in terms of design with New York City design firm 2×4. Rock. The coffee table must have is now available for a £100 in Prada stores and online at Prada.com

The stunning book has had a series of bashes celebrating its launch. One being in Beverly Hills on 13Th November where Miuccia Prada herself was on hand to celebrate the book with a host of folk including Carine Roitfeld, Chloe Sevigny, Jessica Biel, Zoë Saldana, Rachel Zoe etc.

At Prada's Old Bond Street store last night as decorated with displays of the book amongst Prada designs, a stylish crowd including Bianca Jagger,Katie Grand,Christopher Kane etc attended the London launch of the book. I had a quick nose through the sleek book while having yummy canapes and Pear cocktails. It took all of a minute for me to deem it an absolute stunner. It is truly a breath taking!

The book is really proof of how innovative Prada is as a brand and how revolutionary Miuccia has been to the luxury power house. She has a knack for making the unlikeliest things sexy. She has such great vision.

Case in point her Autumn/Winter 2009 fur shorts also known as 'Cavewoman biker shorts'(affectionately given that name by a hottie friend *smile*)
You would not expect slouchy fur shorts that probably conjure up Flintstone and prehistoric cave folk connotations to be sexy...but that is the genius that is Miuccia.

Actress & model Tolula Adeyemi looked ferocious in a pair of them last night in images above!

The shorts literally could have done with their own publicist/security as it had everyone (men and women alike) lusting majorly over them. Paired with the abso-freaking-lutely insane thigh high boots from the same collection the model and actress looked incredible at the delish book launch. One part country manor grandeur meets one part Wilma Flintstone meets all parts hot-hot-hot!

Darling Tolula seeing that we are friends, could a girl pretty please borrow those boots once in while? Pretty please with a cherry on the top?;o)I'd love you forever...

Rihanna Live,Nokia X6 + Rated R Global party

Velvet harem pants-bra top-faux leather jacket-vintage jewellery.

So after a manic day I dashed over to 02 Academy in Brixton,South London to attend Rihanna's history making gig in London. Nokia hosted the FREE innovative first ever global album listening party. Rihanna's set comprised of known hit faves and tracks from her new album,'Rated R'. This was the first time the new tracks were to be performed in concert.

It was a jam packed house with an understandably excited buzz in the air.

Soon enough Rihanna hit the stage(strewn with prop TV and disassembled silver mannequins) looking sick(that means good by the way...*smile*) in an amazing embellished one arm black leotard/body and later a leotard with fringed leather torso.

She performed Mad House,Wait Your Turn,Russian Roulette(love love love this song!),Don’t Stop The Music,Take A Bow, Disturbia, Hard, Live Your Life, Run This Town and Umbrella.

Special surprise performing guests were Jay-Z and Young Jeezy who the crowd went absolutely mad for. The two rappers smashed it on Run the Town and Hard respectively.

The concert was streamed live globally across Nokia mobile music, video & online at Nokia.com/Rihanna so it felt like one BIG global party.Largest album listening party audience ever perhaps? Very innovative and ground breaking if you ask me!

The gig was to also launch the stylish new Nokia X6 which comes with the exciting and unlimited'Comes with music' feature.

The album is released globally on 23rd November and the fab people at Nokia have made it so that there is a special edition available at the Nokia Music Store

She rocked the set and it was over way too soon! I loved every minute and it had me dancing in my harem pants. I look forward to getting the album, I will also be checking out the special edition of it at Nokia Music Store as it will feature yummy bonus tracks.

It was lovely seeing Carina and Reena at the gig, hope you girlies had a ball too.

A Plato Atlantis Romance

Love or hate her, Lady Gaga is always championing conceptual and opinion dividing designs/costumes.

In her new 'Bad Romance' video as above she is rocking the abso-freaking-lutely amazing Spring/Summer 2010 Alexander McQueen lobster-claw meets armadillo meets elephant hoof heels.

She carries them so well you forget that they are actually an ankle snapping ten inches high! By the way it is not a real Polar Bear fur that she sets on fire in above video. It is a faux fur part of Benjamin Cho's Spring 2004 runway show,designed in collaboration with the Humane Society.

One of the looks she wears in the video is the finale look from that McQueen Spring/Summer 2010 ‘Plato Atlantis’ show.

Just looking at that design on the catwalk sends shivers done my spine!

Another non model who just wore the hooves type heels and a dress from Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer 2010? The inimitable Daphne Guinness.

I did not even bat an eyelash when I saw that image today. Daphne...style icon, muse and couture collector has this aura and a persona that carries EVERYTHING off. She was in McQueen from head to stylish toe to co-host a party with Marc Jacobs for NARS 15X15 in New York.

I also spotted beautiful actress Camilla Belle a few days ago wearing a dress from the awe inspiring collection too. The stunning actress wore the piece for the LA premiere of the 2012 movie.

Meet the mixed breed... the coatigan is like the love child of your fail safe coat fused with your trusty cardigan.

It is as if the humble cardigan were on fashion steroids.

The cardigan erroneously synonymous with sweet brogue wearing librarians has had a face lift and is now commanding major attention.

It is perfect for days when it's not quite cold enough for a coat but a tad too chilly for just a cardigan.

Designers as usual, knew just what we needed before we even made sense of our musings.

There is a coatigan from an array of designers to suit a variety of tastes. From the king of the conceptually dark chic, Rick Owens right through to the purveyor of refined understated sexy,Stella McCartney.

I was shopping online for a client at NET-A-PORTER
and fell in lust with a host of them! Trust me there are amazing ones on there,visit the site's knit section for a drool filled time.

I will be wearing my coatigan with thigh high grazing boots and a strong satchel type bag.
