ManyCam 3.1.51 is now available for download.  This update adds mms URL radio support under the “audio” tab and also includes many bug fixes and stability improvements.  We’d like to thank the users who email our helpdesk and report problems so we can fix them and continue to improve ManyCam.

Most people who use ManyCam use it in positive ways, for example artists who create awesome drawings of the person they are video chatting with or people who use our text over video feature to teach others a new language.  ManyCam’s video and audio effects are also very fun to try out on sites like Omegle or Chatroulette.

We sometimes use sites like Omegle and Chatroulette to test our software and make sure it’s functioning properly before releasing new versions. I think it’s unfair to artists, musicians, software developers, and other positive ManyCam users to have a negative message associated with their video.  Fortunately there is an easy way to regain your privacy with ManyCam.

ManyCam Custom Video Source

Go to the top left ManyCam “Video” tab then choose “Sources”.  At the bottom left of the window you’ll see “Custom Video Source”.  Change your video source name to whatever you want like “my cool webcam” and then restart your browser and you have now regained your privacy.  This feature does not work on the Chrome browser or for Mac users currently.

ManyCam 3.1.43 for Windows is now available for download.  This new version of ManyCam has a major new virtual audio driver with some enhancements and bug fixes.  It is recommended that all ManyCam users who use our audio features upgrade to this newest software version.

We have also made some progress on updating our Mac software and we hope to have a 2.0 version update in the next 30-60 days, then we’ll begin working on a major update to bring our Mac software up to date with our Windows software.

This morning we released some new free and Pro ManyCam background effects including Hypnotic Colored Spirals, View from Train Window, Bubbles, Flying Planes, and Fireplace (free).  Download ManyCam then download these free effects to try them out on your webcam.  ManyCam background effects add a fun animated background behind you and make your webcam calls and broadcasts more interesting.

You can also make your own custom effects and upload them for others to use on our website.

ManyCam 3.1.41 is now available for download.

This new version of ManyCam has an updated webcam driver for full Windows 8 Metro applications support.  For example if you use Skype via the Metro interface with Windows 8 it should work well with ManyCam.  Some users were also reporting that ManyCam would not start for them in some circumstances.  This update should solve some problems a tiny percentage of ManyCam users were having with random crashing and the software not starting at all.

This is a free update for our ManyCam Pro users.

For users with multiple webcams or IP cameras you can easily set them to automatically switch back and forth with a given period of time.  Automatic webcam switching is part of ManyCam’s playlist feature. Look below to see how to try the automatic webcam switching feature out.

1) Select the Playlist video source and include web cameras, IP cameras or other ManyCam video sources.

2) Use the ManyCam navigation buttons to manage your playlist.

3) You can specify the playback time for each playlist item. The playback time is set to 30 seconds by default. Click on that value to change it.

Now with ManyCam your webcams and video sources can automatically switch back and forth without you having to click them!
