Managed FX update

Decent trading lately in the Managed Forex space we monitor. Running a handful of new programs as well, NSK, Nexgen, and looking at a few new systems.

Adjuhan Managed FX- Down across the board on the month, holding a GBP short which is hurting him.

Calypso1 Managed Forex Program- Doing well, up over 1% on the month now. I like this program and it has been generating some good interest lately.

QV FX Manager- Dropped his max daily loss to 3%, should help him. His max floating loss he is also working on shrinking, has been 0.2% or less since his drawdown last week. Great to see. He is always working to improve. Performance has been similar to before the drawdown, even with the tighter stop which is excellent.

Sebastian Managed Forex- Up 5% or so on the month, good to be working with him again.

GTA- Flat on the month.

MSI- Not much action.

Marek- Flat.

Andrej All- Up a little on the month.

Y/Apogee- Had his big 8% up day, has given some back since.

International- Should go live for us August 1st at Marex we're told.

Calypso2 Hedge- Down about 2% since we started them.

Been a while since I posted, some good, some bad since I last wrote.

Today Apogee (formerly Y) had an 8% up day, he's been telling us his technology was finally fixed as of earlier this week. After a day like that I tend to believe him. Great to see. Sebastian I consider a more institutional manager as he has traded for banks in the past, is having a great month, up around 7% net to date. Terrific to see, and glad to have him back. On the downside, QV got caught in an unplanned Spanish news announcement and lost 2.5%, then reversed at the top of the move and lost the max we allowed in one day, 5%. Happened a few days ago. Do not like to see that. We have changed the max drawdown to 3% and he is working on his discipline and following his rules. We'll see how he does going forward, I still think he's very talented as a trader. He is also going to cut his losers at the same prices and is gradually going to work on stretching his winners.

Adjuhan Managed FX- Up nicely at ODL/FXCM. Down a few percent at PFG, and down about 6% at DBFX.

Calypso1 Managed Forex Program- Positive, up around 0.6% on the month.

QV FX Manager- See above, off about 2.5% on the month to date.

Sebastian Managed Forex- doing great, glad to have him back.

GTA- Flat on the month, nice streak he is on. Flat on the month. Has doubled his assets recently and is looking to be an institutional quality operation.

Coral- Up 0.44 last month, doing well this month I'm told.

Broadbeach- Had a small winner at Cantor.

MSI- Not much action

Marek- Flattish

Andrej All- Has been clawing back steadily, nearly back to even.

Apogee/Y- Was bumping along until today, up 8%. We are ok with volatility as long as it is upside volatility. He seems to keep the downside tight and let's the upside run (after today). Has his technology dialed in again he tells us.

International- Doing great, to new highs this month.

Calypso2 Hedge - Was doing great, now off around 3% for us, don't like to see that. Holds positions for a long time, few days, takes some getting used to.

Ray- Haven't looked, probably making money.

Managed Forex Update

Been out for a while, and deleted a bunch of old blog posts, messing up the blog, should be back on track after this one. Happy Fourth to those of you in the USA.

Don’t have my template here at home so will write as they come to me.

Calypso’s managed fx program has been doing well consistently, back to their old ways, up over 3% in June, great to see. I will get the official number later this week. Those returns are on reduced leverage, we’ll be adding more soon to get back to the original levels or close. Also on the Calypso front is their new system, an fx hedging system they have been working on for a long time now went live today at Citi. Lot of trades and a high percentage profitable, Great to see. Starting on tiny leverage to test. As they gain confidence they’ll be upping the size. I hope this system will outperform the Calypso system. Looking promising, performing as the backtests indicated. Nine winners and six losers, three of those losers just barely less than zero so could be called breakeven trades. We’ll monitor it and let you know how it continues to run. First day promising.
QV managed forex has had all winning days since the losing day on June 17th, great to see. Managed to close up on the month as well, extending his winning streak to twelve consecutive months.
BAM struggling, took a 10% loser, deviating from what he told us, which was all scalping and 2% max daily loss. Went for a big position trade. Don’t like the integrity there. Need to be able to trust your traders.
Sebastian the fx manager we have live again, off .63% his first month, June, and he’s up 2% so far in July. Came from a good source at a forex trading desk in London, hope he’s back in the saddle, should be a good one long term.
Adjuhan's managed forex trading varies across the board at his different trading shops. I'll get the Track Records page updated so you can see the difference. I think he's a talented trader. I'm impressed.
Y/Apogee managed forex down in June for the second month in a row. Not liking that, his track record he showed us was four years of all winning months, we start him and five months in he has two losing months... ? Still keeping him, he keeps the volatility low and he has made us money so can't complain too loudly. But we are only posting the track record we have on our books.
International fx has been doing well, this week I believe it will be finally up to full speed for our client. Comes very highly recommended. Has limited capacity, which I like, makes the high returns more believable.
Started Portfolio FX, which was called FXPT. Up about 2.4% for us in the week or two since they began, like to see that.
GTA Group we recently put on the site, they have been calling us for many months trying to get us to do so. We had a tracking account and watched them make money. I like them. Former navy fellow and his partner.
Marek's managed forex program made a little money last month.
Coral made money yet again, impressed.
Ray also made money again last month, he's good, not sure how much size he can handle, working to get him some money and grow him.

Summertime is a great time to be in Chicago. Seems slower for the traders, though the forex strategies we watch are generally doing well. Calypso lowered their leverage after the Greek crisis and intends to keep it at this level. If you would like your account at similar risk/reward to pre-April levels, 2.5x leverage will do it, email us and let us know if you'd like to adjust.

Broadbeach - Had a winner last week, good to see.
Adjuhan Managed FX - Up at ODL, down PFG and DBFX. Talented trader.
Marek - Made a bit of money last month. Had a nice allocation from Citi a while back.
MSI - Made money a couple different days for us last week at Marex.
Calypso1 Managed Forex Program - Doing well, up nicely last month. They have dropped their leverage and kept it lower, if you'd like the returns and risk previous to the Greek crisis in April, I'd say 2.5x leverage for your account would get you back to the original risk/reward.
Andrej All - Been making some money.
QVFX - All winning days in July. Well done.
Sebastian Managed Forex - Making money for us in July, up over 3%. Doing well.
Coral - Waiting on July number.
GTA - Did very well in June. Impressed.
Y/Apogee managed forex - Faltering.
International - Waiting on technical issues to get them live for us.
Ray - Steady returns, has made me money consistently since January. Does add to losers.

Working to report facts going forward and leave my opinions out of it. QV two down days this week. Puts him down on the month. First down days in three months. He got caught in one news move.

BAM - Trading again, new short-term system. Four winners no losers today.
Broadbeach - No action
Adjuhan - Flattish since last report
MSI - Seem to be up some
Calypso1 - Up over 1% this month so far.
Andrej All - Flat
QV - Had two down days this week.
Sebastian - Started and has been struggling, off a few percent.
GTA - Doing very well they tell us.
Y - Off a couple percent on the month
MC Arb - Up 2.5% or so since we began trading them
Ray - Up 5% since starting
Florin - Off a good bit
Proficient - Drew down quitea bit for us, too much and the client shut them down.
