If you are on a diet or simply enjoying a healthy lifestyle, then you probably know that peer pressure to eat foods that are not good for you, is a major part of your life. If you are worried about the food that goes into your mouth, don’t worry—there are ways to overcome peer pressure. It simply takes a little know-how to get people off your back!

Parties are a major source of peer pressure, especially with alcohol. Remember that alcohol contains approx 200 calories in just one drink. As an example if you were to drink one beer every night you would be adding over 1000 calories to your diet each week. Imagine if you had several beers in one evening – that is a pile of calories!

Healthy Eating Tips and Peer Pressure

When you go to a party, people might be pressuring you to have a drink and relax, and it can be difficult to say no when they are constantly trying to convince you to have a drink with them. If you would rather not have any drinks let people know you would rather not drink alcohol, see if there is juice, water or diet pop at the party. Tell people you are the designated driver, people won’t want you to drink and, in fact, they will probably make sure you get non-alcoholic drinks. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.

Another time when you may feel pressured to eat is at work when the boss orders lunch for everyone at a meeting or when you have to visit a client. Instead of giving in to temptation, politely decline the food by letting your boss know in advance. If you would prefer to order lunch with everyone else make sure you order a meal that is healthy and split the portion in half so you have a meal for tomorrow’s lunch as well.

Baby showers, weddings, birthday parties, and other special events can also wreak havoc on your diet, even if you are good at resisting temptation on your own. When someone hands you a piece of cake and won’t take no for an answer, it can be difficult to know what to say! Here, little white lies might be appropriate. For instance, saying that your stomach was upset earlier in the day will convince a person that you don’t want to eat at the moment.

Remember, however, that while refusing bad foods is fine, you should be eating good foods. If you do not, dangerous eating habits and disorders can develop, which will give you, your friends, and your doctor a real reason to worry. It’s ok to say no to peer pressure, but don’t say no to food in general – Healthy Eating Tips need to be headed for you to enjoy an abundant, healthy life.

We will continue to bring you a ton of information on various health related issues.

For years the same question has been asked all over the country – “Is Cheerleading a Sport or a Glamorized Fitness Program? There are varying answers to this question, most answers are a matter of personal opinion, but the fact remains that Cheer leading has so many components which makes it an extreme fitness program. When cheerleader coaches have been asked if this is a fitness program or a sport, the majority of them agree that it is both a fitness program as well as a sport.

What Makes Cheer leading a Sport?

In 2007 a study was done on injuries from cheerleading accidents and the same injuries happen in hockey and football.

Some of those injuries range from mild to severe and include the following:

Concussions – any thing from a little concussion to a severe, life threatening concussion. This usually happens from falling when performing pyramid type of strategies, or other type of stunts which include unusual heights. Most cheerleaders hit their heads off the ground or hard surfaces such as a floor.

Is Cheerleading a Sport

Breaks – anything from a broken finger to a broken leg. These types of breaks are also from falling and landing the wrong way during a stunt.

Lacerations, Sprains and Strains – lacerations could be caused from something sharp on the ground or area being practiced in. Sprains and Strains are from improper warm up or moving the wrong way.

These lacerations, sprains and strains are not life threatening but they can be very painful and cause disruption amongst cheerleaders if the wrong person gets hurt.

Spinal cord and neck injuries – these can be life threatening and are caused from falling from high places.

Spinal cord and neck injuries are mainly seen in cheerleaders who are at the top of the pyramid or stunt, the ones who are in the air or close to the upper half of the stunt are at the highest risk, due to the amount of distance from the top to the ground, this type of fall can have a crushing impact on a person no matter how strong they are.

The reason for these major injuries is due to the lack of gear or protection given to the girls. Football and hockey players have sufficient gear to lessen the impact of an injury however with cheerleaders they only have shirt, skort and shoes to wear with no gear to protect them from injury.

In the year 2000 the movie “Bring it on” hit the theaters and motivated a lot of girls to become cheerleaders as they wanted to be like the actresses in the movie. Approximately 50% of these girls sustained injuries – the movie made it look so easy but in reality it is a vigorous workout which works every muscle group in your body. Like any other sport this takes commitment, stamina and training to be successful, not everyone can keep up to the pace like they can in other fitness programs.

With every great fitness program comes a healthy eating lifestyle – not a diet plan. Athletes in this arena are suppose to eat healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, meats and lots of greens like salads. The foods the girls are asked to avoid are sugar drinks (ie: pop, juice with added sugar), junk food, fast food and foods with high fat content. This is to keep the athletes body in shape and of course looking good.

In no way is this article meant to discourage young girls from entering into cheer leading, we are simply presenting the facts, precautions and dangers along with the commitment needed to be a cheerleader. If you are thinking this is for you then go for it and be the best you can be. The key is to be careful and remember your team counts on you to support your other team members regardless of likes and dislikes.

Sincerely,

You head to the grocery store, shopping for products like eggs, meat, fish, milk, and produce. Signs are posted everywhere labeling food as natural, organic, and a number of other things—but what’s the difference? Learning what specific names mean can help you decide if you should shell out extra money on a product. Is it really organic foods or just simply a marketing ploy.

Natural foods is a term associated with a number of fruit and vegetable products. Typically, this is a simple marketing ploy to convince you to buy the product. After all, fruits and vegetables are natural, right? The product is natural, unless it’s a new kind of food that has been developed and processed.

Organic Foods

Your best choice over natural foods is organic food. Organic foods are grown without chemical pesticides and fertilizers. There are two main benefits to organic foods:

* You are helping the environment because those chemicals are not being introduced into nature.
* You are avoiding ingesting chemicals and are therefore eating healthier foods.

Organic products are usually more expensive. Here is tip which can save you money in the grocery store and still be able to eat healthy:

“If you’re on a budget, skip over organic fruits and vegetables that you can peel, like oranges and bananas. After all, once you’ve discarded the peel, you’ve also discarded the chemicals. Instead, opt for organic snacks like apples, where you eat the peel. Either way no matter what you buy, make sure that you rinse off the food when you get home.

Another tricky label you will see is “no hormones.” This is usually in regards to milk or meat products and is false, since all animals naturally produce hormones. Animal hormones are what helps an animal regulate body organs. All meat products have animal hormones. What the labels really mean is that no animal hormones were unnaturally given, which is sometimes done to increase milk production. Regardless of hormones, however, the milk and meat is safe for a person and not a violation of an animal’s rights.

Lastly, a label on eggs and meat can indicate if the animal was caged or penned. This does not make a difference in the quality or nutritional value of the meat, but is simply a matter of animal rights. These products may be a bit more expensive. Reading the label and making healthy choices can sometimes be difficult, but learning how to do so can help you make the best choices for your diet.

Organic foods, natural foods, animal hormones – just remember to do some homework and understand anything you are introducing into your diet – just because it is advertised as the next best health craze certainly doesn’t make is so. We will continue to bring you a ton of information on various health related issues.

Now this may seem like a weird combination – Healing Music and Aerobics – Did you know Healing Music doesn’t always have to put you in a relaxed state to work?

How many times have you gone to a gym for an aerobic workout and seen people with headsets, no doubt playing their favorite music. There is nothing wrong with this particular strategy – in fact for some this works best.

When it comes to aerobics and heart health, using music to keep you going helps to bring your body and mind into balance. Your heart is a muscle and like all muscles a reasonable exercise strategy keeps the heart healthy.

The relationship between aerobics and music is a unique one. For some people our normal everyday music doesn’t work, in fact sometimes fast rock music makes you work to hard and you can over do it. Medium to slower songs may cause you to feel motivated for only a short period of time.

Do you really understand the correlation between aerobics and healing music?

There are many people who swear that by doing aerobics with healing music, gives them a peak workout and are able to overcome mental blocks that sometimes can hold you back.

Recently I mentioned this to a friend of our family and their first reaction was – “Won’t that put me to sleep?” For a moment I said nothing and then it hit me, not everyone understands this style of music. Not everyone has heard of Mark Romero Music and his unique style.

There are styles of relaxation music that assist in lowering your blood pressure and helps you to destress through the use of relaxation techniques, but like all music there are different styles and this style of music which helps to heal comes in different tempos depending on the artist.

We all have experienced times when we just can’t seem to get to the next level in our workout programs – these can sometimes be caused by mental blocks.

Mark Romero Music includes a music prescription that can help you to overcome mental blocks during any workout program.

When it comes to aerobic workout and heart health you need to find a way to bring everything into balance so you can optimize your results. One important thing you should always do is check with your family physician to ensure your heart can withstand an aerobic exercise program.

Once you have done this you need to develop an aerobic workout plan and introduce a healing music style such as the style Mark Romero has created. Optimize your workout so you get the best results possible, bringing your body and mind into balance.

Regards,

When it comes to some types of aerobic exercise, you might find that you get a better workout on a machine rather than actually running or jumping rope. Remember during a healthy workout routine, aerobic exercises have to be tailored to your body and what is best for your health. Working together with your doctor and your personal trainer to develop a system for you is the best plan for your body and your mind.

Aerobic Exercise

Machines have become very popular when it comes to working out as sometimes they are easier to use and easier to get used to. You don’t have to worry about running outside when it is cold out or finding a way to get your workout when you don’t have time, if you have a machine in your home that you can use. The point of aerobic workout is that you are getting your heart rate up and you are getting into shape. You can do this on a machine as well as running or jumping rope.

There are several different machines that you might want to try. The two easiest and most popular would be tread mills and bikes. On both of these, you will find that you can get a great work out regardless of the weather outside. The point of an aerobic work out is to get your heart rate going, so if you are riding a bike, walking or running on a treadmill, you are going to be benefiting from your aerobic exercise.

The reason that these two machines are so popular is that they are handy. Riding an exercise bike can be something that you do in your living room no matter what time of day it is or the temperature outside. Treadmills are the same too, you can get all of the exercise that you need while you are at home.

For some types of aerobic exercise having machines to use is something that you should be able to do quite easily no matter where you decide to work out. As long as you are sure that you are still getting the same amount of exercise, you’ll be able to see the benefits of working on an exercise machine right away. It can be the best way that you have to get your work out completed and to get healthier!

Check out how adding Healing Music to your aerobic routine can be very beneficial.
