You know the past boom economies of the Western World that have fed you in style will no longer tolerate your “plain vanilla” Mr. Professional sale and marketing material. You see the world of business has changed and is changed forever.

All that said, this represent a “cleansing of the pipe”, there will in fact be more $$$ for those who figure out how to get more of it $$$ coming their way. So the first thing you need to do is to make your offers more COMPELLING AND TIME SENSITIVE. I heard a complaint only last week, and it went like this, “Retail sales sure are down, what with school holidays, end of financial year, and now an election being called business sure is tough.”

My response was to go to their list of clients on email and SMS and make them a TIME SENSITIVE IRRESISTIBLE COMPELLING OFFER and that’s exactly what they did. It was 2 for 1 in the next 10 days and they were run off their feet.

Sure, in doing so they gave away some profit, the thing is they would never have had that profit to give away unless they made a sale (profit). Here is the mathematics: they still made 100% margin and people patronise them when they otherwise would not have. They even kept the cash registers ringing and a crowd attracts a crowd moving through the “turnstiles”.

You see, when business is quiet, I like to look at it this way. If you are doing badly, it’s because the money in their pocket (prospect or client) is worth more to them than what you have to offer (value). The trick is to get them to dip their hand in their pocket and give their money to you.

If you want that to happen you have to make IRRESISTIBLE COMPELLING OFFERS. Now I’m going to tell you what’s irresistible.

Recently, in Perth, a mentally unstable individual was parading naked on a roof with a gun in his hand, now all this has a happy ending, he was coax off the roof and I hope he is now getting the help he needs.

Here is my point. Crowd control was one of the major problem faced by those folks trying to help this unfortunate fellow, some of the crowd even told him to jump which is most unsavoury. It’s the same when there is a fire, it’s the biggest problem faced by those trying to bring it under control it’s the crowd trying to get a look.

This is what you call COMPELLING, people are COMPELLED to wonder what is going to happen next. Honestly, is your marketing this compelling? Now I’m not suggesting you set fire to a building. I’m suggesting that your OFFERS NEED TO BE COMPELLING ENOUGH to get a person to act, that is, choose you.

You need an offer. That offer has to be valuable, interesting, exciting and irresistibly compelling. There should be massive added value, desirable bonuses and savings to incentivise and reward for immediate action.

You have to convince the most sceptical prospect that they’d be a fool not to act, and convince them they must act now or lose out, and you need to do all those things to such an extreme degree, with so much sizzle, that it becomes irresistible.

Another Mae West quote went like this, “I generally avoid temptation unless I can’t resist it.” That’s exactly what I am talking about. Make your offer so tempting, people find it irresistible.

Oh, and here’s a big secret: even if you are offering something free – free information, a free consultation, a free exam, a free test drive, a free trial, etc. – you must work just as hard to sell “free” as you would if asking money for it. It’s not getting them to part with money that is so difficult. It is moving them to action of any kind, that’s the challenge.

So when times are tough and sales are slow, if you want them to beat down your door, spend your time CREATING IRRESISTIBLE COMPELLING OFFERS.

Like everything in life there is Yin and Yang, we live in a world of duality, good and bad, right and wrong, black and white, right and left, rich and poor, all co-exist. Frankly it’s the same in marketing and sales, there’s good marketing and bad marketing and everything in between.

The same could be said for “hype” in marketing and sales, there’s good “hype” and there’s bad “hype”.

Let me explain…

“Hype” used ethically is MASSIVE ENTHUSIASM for your product or service, “hype” use unethically is LYING, MISLEADING OR PROMISING THINGS YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DELIVER.

Hence use as much “hype” as you possibly can, just always tell the truth.

“Hype” is short for “hyperbole”… which Encyclopaedia Britannica defines as… a figure of speech that is an intentional exaggeration for the emphasis or comic effect.

Wikipedia on the other hand says that “hype” is… a figure of speech in which statements are exaggerated… and is not meant to be taken literally.

Examples like, “I’m so hungry I could eat a horse”, obviously no one intends it, when that comment is made, that you are going to actually consume 400 kg of horse meat. I suspect that amount of protein will kill you.

Just as when someone says, “you’ve got a brain the size a pea”, again nobody really means you have a brain that small, just that you are behaving like someone who has a brain that small.

When Domino says, “piping hot pizza delivered to your door in 30 minutes or free” nobody really believes the pizza will be piping hot or will be delivered in exactly 30 minutes but it does convey the right message – in this case… with “hype” used ethically.

When a work boot manufacturer says, “the world most comfortable long lasting work boot guaranteed”, how do you even quantify or qualify that a work boot is the world’s most comfortable and long lasting? After all a competitor could make the same claim, I expect, in fact their argument may be their boot is more comfortable.

This is an example of “hype” used ethically based on the expectation of the market place.

On the subject of Domino, a client of mine sent me a very interesting article recently. It was published in Nyse Magazine Second Quarter 2010. It went on to explain that Domino had a new CEO and a new Pizza recipe because their survey of 33,000 people had shown that although they rated number 1 for service, they ranked last for taste and quality of product.

“They then set out to reverse this trend and spent 2 years completely remaking their core product. First, chefs tasted 50 different sauces, 10 different crust and dozens of cheese combinations.”

You see a survey of their clients revealed that “Domino’s pizza crust to me is like cardboard.” So effectively if you bought Domino’s pizza it was like buying two for one, you can eat the box or the pizza or both and there wouldn’t be much difference.

So instead of hiding from the elephant in the room, i.e., their pizza tasted like cardboard, they came out and admitted it and then painstakingly did something about it. This is a very smart move by Domino, instead of throwing a blanket over the elephant poo in the room which will still stink anyway; they actually made a damning admission and then fixed it.

No doubt to me this proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that “hype” used ethically in marketing and sales (even though here a damning admission was made) is the right thing to do as long as you always tell the truth.

I am just sitting here on my back balcony overlooking City Beach right now, just asking myself, why is it that I am here right now, enjoying the fruits of my labour while there are so many other people out there that just seem to take two steps forward and then three steps back.

It’s not too often that I get in these contemplation modes, so let’s try to make the most of this one…. Here is one of my major success secrets…

Looking back, I really think that it had to do with me realising at an early age that I should not have to recreate the wheel, after all you don’t get paid any extra if you “invent fire” by rubbing sticks and a rock together.

For those of you who don’t know, I was not exactly the greatest student in class. In fact, when the teachers realised that I was in their classroom, they rolled up their eyes and said, “I really deserve a pay rise”.

The truth is, I didn’t read my first book until I was about 41 years of age and I failed or just passed most subjects. What this did do, was force me to be creative when it came to getting the answers I needed to survive in the tough world of school, and then in the workplace.

I developed the uncanny knack of asking the RIGHT questions from the RIGHT people who I knew should have the RIGHT answers.

When I left school and started work two things happened. The first was the teachers threw a party to celebrate my departure, I am sure, and the second thing was I got retrenched from my work with a multi-national company and again had to get creative to survive out there.

So what I did was sit back and think about who I knew that was successful in business, and I thought to myself, well, maybe, if I do the same thing they do I might get the same kind of results. (Not rocket science).

So I knocked on the door of a local hardware store who I had bought a wheel barrow and a couple of hoses from, having moved into his area, and I asked the owner Owen McGrath if he would help me open up another hardware store miles away from him so that we would not be in competition because I would like to do what he was doing.

Well, he was kind enough to mentor me, and he spent my dear old mum $10,000 on hardware products and I created a very successful hardware store that I sold about 13 months later for around $32,000 which after paying everybody back including dear old mum, left me with the grand sum of approximately $17,500 over.

Now let’s put that in perspective, my house and land that I’d just bought has cost me $20,000. So almost 13 months later I had enough money to pay it off. Today that’s pretty much the equivalent of making about $500,000 in 13 months. That was when the light went on in my head that I should model others and learn from their mistakes.

Here we are 35+ years of expensive experience later and back into the present with over 20+ businesses started, bought, built and sold, financially set and enjoying life.

I would like to say to you, in your search for success, don’t make it harder than it should be, look for people who are at least five times more successful than you are, prefer in the field that you are investigating, seek their wisdom, and then go forward confidently and don’t let any negative people that don’t know what the hell they are talking about distract you from your goal.

All the best,

You have heard that old cliché… if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Well in my experience that’s true, no one I know has ever REALLY got rich quickly, even though it may appear that money has been made fast.

On closer examination you’ll find that these folk who suddenly seem to have “found the money” have been working at it for years. They have experienced obstacles, disappointments and hard work along the way.

People seem to want there to be a straight line to success, well unfortunately it’s a wavy line. In fact, in some cases massive zigs and zags. The name of the game is to make the size of the zigs and zags tighter and to have small dips and troughs, be constantly adjusting your efforts to achieve success faster.

I advocate blurring the line between hard work, passion and pleasure. That’s the life I get to live, I love business, marketing and entrepreneurs. None of this is work for me, although I wouldn’t do it for free. I can’t make a case for solving people’s problems for free, firstly there must be an exchange of value, in this case my knowledge and the know-how acquired over 35 years of expensive experience and on the other hand, the money clients pay me for speed and accuracy.

Believe it or not most people made their fortune in ordinary every day business, it didn’t happen via some new idea or breakthrough. This is all confirmed in a book entitled “The Millionaire Next Door”. This is why I believe that ordinary every day business operating as extraordinary is still the best way to make a fortune in Australia today.

The Fortune 500 magazine, last years study 400 Billionaires and would you believe 170 of them literally started their Billion dollars business in their garage. Another 100 started with smaller amount of money. It doesn’t necessary take money to make money…so don’t let a lack of money stop you.

Something else you might get comfort from is the fact that most millionaires made their millions after they turn fifty, so it seems there is still hope if you haven’t figured it out yet. It just goes to prove there is no straight line to success.

Multi multi multi millionaire, maybe billionaire, Howard Ruff said, “If I could teach my children one skill and one skill only to ensure that they never have to worry about money it would be the skill of marketing and exposure.” And he is right of course.

It is the skill above all other whether you work for someone else or wisely choose to work for yourself in business that makes all the difference to the level of financially success you achieve.

And there is a CRITICAL SECRET to marketing success I’m about to reveal here….

The critical secret to marketing success is you don’t need to learn everything. You see, 80% of your marketing success you will be able to attribute to 20% of your activity and 80% of your success can be achieve by only doing that 20%. Start measuring what’s working best and only do that. So there’s the good news, in reality there is about half a dozen marketing strategies and tactics that you need to get good at that will account for most of your success.

First, let’s define the definition of marketing. Here’s mine: The business activity of PRESENTING products and services to POTENTIAL prospects that make them EAGER to buy. The keywords here are PRESENTING (showing), POTENTIAL (real possibility), and EAGER (greater desire).

So you’re in the marketing business of XYZ and if you’re a marketer like I am, the XYZ can come and go that’s why marketing is the core principle that makes all the difference to your success.

Here are 5 BIG REASONS why you should make learning marketing your priority.

#1 Nobody knows your product or service better than you do… let’s face it, it’s your baby, nobody lives and breath your business like you do.

#2 Nobody cares about your business as much as you do… now it won’t matter how much you pay them, it’s simply human nature that no one else will lay awake at night trying to figure out how to make your business better like you will.

#3 So you can understand if a coach, consultant, copywriter, etc is doing a good job… even if you hire someone like me, you want to be able to check on me. After all I’ll never know your business like you will.

#4 If you don’t know how to do the marketing, you will always be dependent on someone else for your success for your life.

#5 The market place will no longer tolerate your ineptness or ignorance where your ability to be a marketer is concerned, simply you will be left behind sooner rather than later.

Why don’t people put everything into learning marketing?

#1 They are bad at it… frankly if you are bad at it, that’s a perfect reason to get good at it. Conversely hire someone who is and pay them a lot because it’s the only thing that will make you money.

#2 Don’t like it… here I advise you to get over it and start liking it. In fact what I’ve noticed over many years with people who start not liking it is when they get over their fears end up loving it. In fact you can no longer read the news paper without “critiquing” other people’s stupidity.

#3 Most people are not born with the marketing and sale brain, we’re still where a lot of people have an aversion against marketing and sale. It’s a form of hang up that you can’t afford to have in business.

Now the good news is, it’s a learnable skill and if you’ll just devote an isolated week or 2 to learning the skills of marketing and sale you too can be just like Howard Ruff children. You’ll wonder where the money’s been hiding all those all these lean years and you will never have to worry about money again.

Ok, if you have read this far and you realise marketing is the big secret I want to reward you. Here is your only chance to get your hands on one of my best selling products at a fraction of it’s normal cost PLUS with a bonus offer I doubt I’ll ever repeat.

If you go to the link below you will be able to purchase my “Mega Marketing Pack” normally valued at $797 and get a certificate for a 1 hr consultation with me valued at $800 (by appointment over the phone or in my office) for just one time offer of $237, that’s a genuine saving of $$1360.

I’m calling this the “Mega Marketing Super Pack” and quite honestly I hope you see the value of picking up an hour with me for just $237 if you’re quick. Hang on let’s make it for only the first 27 orders we receive, after all there is only one of me.

http://budurl.com/mmpsd

At this appointment I will diagnose and prescribe solution to your most pressing business, marketing and sale problem and frankly if I can’t you may be in big trouble.

All the best,

And proof that the business owns you is that it can’t function without you. Now if you are a self-employed mostly you finish up being employed by yourself and of course this stills makes you an employee.

And most employees (self-employed) are broke job owners. Here is why.

Under all wealth is a SYSTEM and the SYSTEM is the foundation of the business that allows it to work without you. A business system is a

Repeatable process that provides a predictable profitable outcome every single time.

The most common example of this, of course, is McDonalds. I think on average McDonalds stores turn over about $2,000,000 per annum with a handy net profit. And the owner is only required to work 1 day per year. All this is mostly achieved by a bunch of hormonal teenagers who we struggle to get a “grunt out of”. In fact the best part about their bedroom is you can close the door so you don’t see the mess they create or hear what goes on.

Don’t get me wrong, I know there’s exception to the rule but I do come from firsthand experience. I had two of my own. And although grateful for how they’ve turned out, there was a time when they behaved like they came from another planet. On one occasion it got so bad that one of them was banished to the granny flat.

So how does McDonalds do it? Get them to do what we can’t get them to do, it’s called a SYSTEM.

Henry Ford created 2 SYSTEMS, the assembly line for building cars and dealership for selling them.

If you are a cog in your business you will eventually become a clog with limitation on your earning potential. Remember, my goal for you and your goal for you should be to build a business that provides you with a passive income (P.I) and to build the value of the business (B.V) so you can sell it someday for a big pay day if you choose.

Remember also, most people only are in business for working income (W.I) and there is no leverage in that.

Now it’s not uncommon to find production and delivery SYSTEMS but it’s very uncommon to find anybody with a reliable predictable profitable marketing SYSTEM. And frankly this is the most valuable SYSTEM of all, simply because it makes you money, and it doesn’t cost you money.

Interestingly enough most people spend their time creating great products and services first, when what they should be doing is creating a GREAT MARKETING SYSTEM first. After all when does somebody know your product or service is great? Only after they’ve purchased it. That’s why a marketing SYSTEM is the most valuable SYSTEM you can have.

This is where it all culminates – the idea behind SYSTEMISATION is to create an automatic money creating machine that works without you. I promise you they’ll be queuing up to buy any money making machine that works without them. And SYSTEMS is the key to all success.

All the best,

It proved so successful to them they returned recently to rob it again.

Stay with me here, I promise to take you by hand and show you how you can cash in on the greatest transfer of wealth in the history of mankind.

Now back to the criminals, the good news that came out of this is Ian and Jenny now have another house load of new gear which Ian’s very excited about because with the advance in technology all the electrical stuff those criminals go for is getting better and better. The bad news is, as I explain to Ian, they’re coming back to clean him out again. “So, don’t get too attached to it.”

If you live in Perth, in the last 3 months, you’ll know another criminal was robbing convenience stores using tools of trade like screw driver, chisels, and hammers as his weapons of choice. This guy, of course, got nailed in about 10 days. After all, in most of the locations he was filmed. Someone is going to recognise this Jack Ass.

So, let’s think about this for a moment. The smart criminals are robbing mansions in the middle of the day when no one’s home and the “booty” is bigger, I would think. The dumb criminals are robbing the convenience store where there is the possibility of being confronted by an angry victim armed with a base ball bat, maybe even a bunch of customers eager to come to the victim’s rescue.

I expect the “booty” is smaller at convenience store and the dangers are greater for the criminals that rob convenience store... yet the penalties are the same. So in business sense, are you a dumb criminal robbing convenience stores when you should be robbing mansions?

Now I don’t mean “robbing” in the sense of the word here. Generally speaking everyone I come in contact with isn’t trying to “rob” anyone. In fact their products and services are mostly exceptional, so is their desire to satisfy their clients’ needs.

Unfortunately, that’s not where the money is in business.

I’m now going to reveal to you how to “rob” mansions and move to where the money is and how you can get a bigger share of the greatest transfer of wealth in the history of mankind. Any argument against what I’m going to reveal here is ignorance, laziness or both.

I’m now going to reveal to you how to “rob” mansions and move to where the money is and how you can get a bigger share of the greatest transfer of wealth in the history of mankind. Any argument against what I’m going to reveal here is ignorance, laziness or both.

So let’s replace the words dumb criminal with “average mediocre and broke people” and replace smart criminal with “rich people”. Here is what I know about rich people, rich people chose to rob mansions. By that I mean identify a hungry herd of prospect or client with money who are eager to spend it if you would solve their problems for them.

I believe the greatest opportunity for business owners and sales professionals, I’ve seen in my life time is selling to the WEALTHY AFFLUENT. You see, these are convergence of demographic trends right now controlling the movement of money in a way never seen before.

There’s the psychographic trend of baby boomers and seniors who are willing to spend money in a bigger way than in prior generations on things like luxury goods, travel, alternative health and anti aging, etc. Most unlike the baby boomers parent who where “squireling” it away for the rainy day or to leave to the children. Us baby boomers have a different plan, it’s called the “die broke plan”… last cheque to the funeral parlour bounces. We are spending it.

The affluent client is a better client, a little harder to sell to, but will spend up to 300% more with you. They also remain loyal as long as you don’t mess it up and eagerly refer people to you. All this means is you can spend more to get them.

A couple of weeks ago, I saw on TV where a camper company was selling a $570,000 Winnabago and the guy sold 10 of them this year. They even interviewed a couple who sold their house to buy one. In fact in America, you can pay 1.3 million dollars for one. There’s a 4 min exercise machine that sells for over US$16,000, even a $27,000 hand bag, the only reason these product exist is because someone, the WEALTHY AFFLUENT is buying them.

The greatest transfer of wealth will be the baby boomer’s parent leaving their real estate to their baby boomer children as they die. In America alone it is estimated to be 33 trillion dollars and guess what? We are going to spend it.

So it’s ignorance or laziness not to redesign or design your business to sell to the WEALTHY AFFLUENT. After all there are less people trying to sell to the WEALTHY AFFLUENT, they are less price sensitive and will spend more, in fact, they’ll spend any amount of money with you if you would only give them a good reason to.

You see 20% never ever buy on price and 30% don’t have price in their top 10 determining factors when buying. And 90% only buy on price because you don’t provide them with a reason (marketing) not to buy on price, so they have no alternative but to consider price as their first option. Less than 10% actually buy on price and yet we behave like 90% do.

They will cheerfully pay a premium price if only you would give them a reason and opportunity.

So figure out how to provide an incredible experience to the WEALTHY AFFLUENT and price accordingly because if you would align with them your income will grow exponentially.

If you are not picking your customers, figuring out how to marketing to the WEALTHY AFFLUENT, you are missing out on the grandest prize of all time and the greatest transfer of wealth.

Here I’m going to reveal to you how I created my original fortune, interestingly enough I would do the same thing today if I find myself broke. So, in essence, it would work just as well 30 odd years after I figured it out, having started my first business at the age of 23.

Now, for the record, what I’m going to reveal here I figured out on my own. You see, I didn’t read my first book until I was 41 and I had already made a fortune doing what I’m going to describe here. Another thing to note is none of what I’ll reveal here is textbook orientated. It’s what I lovingly refer to as… Streetsmart.

Everything I’ll share with you is field tested and proven to work and has made millions of dollars for me and my clients. For the record what I’m going to describe is exactly what I’m doing with my existing business.

Now the formula I’m going to share here is what rich people do as oppose to normal average mediocre and broke people. Here’s the big thing I figured out. I figured out I could make…

more money buying, building and selling
businesses than I could owning them.

The other thing I figured out is there is no money in my product and service, all the money was in the marketing of my product and service. Back then, of course, I didn’t even know the word marketing, I was just blessed by the fact I asked the right questions and that question is the same today…

How can I get them to shop with me
as opposed to my competitors

Today I know that to be a unique customer buying advantage (UCBA). Your UCBA is your point of difference that you relay to the market place.

Rich people go into business with “3 INTENTIONS”, poor people, mediocre and average have 1. The “3 INTENTIONS” are…

Working Income (WI), that’s where most people stop and start. They go into business working to create an income only.

Passive Income (PI), rich people always use leverage and a conscience of making money without doing the work.

Build Value (BV), rich people build the value and worth of the business, so if one day they decide to sell it, they can and they will make a fortune doing it.

Now let’s face it, if you were starting or in business right now, wouldn’t you do things differently if you have started with all 3 INTENTIONS? After all business is too much hard work if all you want to do is to earn a living, the purpose of the business is to set you free and create wealth. In my world, no exceptions, you must start will all 3 INTENTIONS.

And the place to start is at the beginning, every single business I started or owned or still do own, I have a clear picture of what it must look like in the end when I cash out to my ultimate customer — the one that buys my business and puts me on the beach. I call it…

beginning with the end in mind,
nothing should happen by accident.

For my formula to work you must have the right vehicle for wealth creation. Understand there are “jalopy businesses” which make it very difficult for you to get rich and then there are “racing cars businesses” where it’s whole lot easier to get rich. If you subscribe to my principle of Speed Wealth…

you’d want to be in a racing car not a jalopy
and 50% of your success is choice of vehicle.

For this to work for you, you need the Right Vehicle (RV), Right Knowledge (RK), Right Person (RP) and finally Right Time (RT). I’ve discovered you can have the Right Vehicle, have the Right Knowledge and it can be the Right Time and you can still stuff it up if you are not the Right Person.

Hopefully you are the right person and this message has not fallen on deaf ears and you’ll actually embrace the concept that if you want to get rich in business, you’ll need to start with all 3 INTENTIONS not just one, although I have some good news for you. The best part of starting a business with the Intention of selling it is that in order to do that…

it’s actually the best thing you can do
if you want to start and have a business.

By beginning with the end in mind, using the 3 INTENTIONS of Working Income (WI), Passive Income (PI) and Build Value (BV), you will get to have CHOICES and those CHOICES are keep it, retire and keep it and enjoy a passive income, or sell it and lay on the beach.

Either way, you must begin with all 3 INTENTIONS regardless of whether you sell it or not because you’ll do it totally differently and it will give you CHOICES.

All the best,

How many of you would like to be just plain “filthy rich”. Well I really appreciate you reading my blog which I prefer to call my “Rebellious Rant”. But by the end of this rant, I think you are going to be appreciative of it too.

I know that’s a bold statement but I think I can back it up because I believe I have finally figured out why the vast majority of people do nothing, even when they have been presented with the solution to the problem they have. I can’t remember where I read it (probably too much red wine over the dam) but I believe only 4% of people act on a solution to a problem when present with it.

Whatever way you look at it, it’s a damning stat that I think I’ve uncovered the reason for.

If business profit and success has been a bit like the Loch Nest Monster... you’ve heard about it, read about it, but you haven’t actually seen it yet then...

If business profit and success has been a bit like the Loch Nest Monster… you’ve heard about it, read about it, but you haven’t actually seen it yet… then it’s because of something you don’t know right now that rich people do know.

For example, did you know that most rich people THINK the same way and USE VERY SIMILAR STRATEGIES (particularly in business) to get rich.

So it goes without saying that you should do what rich people do and a great place to start is to study rich people to UNDERSTAND what they do.

One of the biggest difference between rich and poor people is

Rich people COMPLETE what they start…
They bring what they start to FULL FRUITION.

The number 1 problem for 80% of people is they never finish what they started and they never had a clear picture of what the end should look like, the finishing line, before they started. Then the problem of not COMPLETING becomes a habit and people take it with them to all the parts of their life.

Think of it as an 800 m race, there’s a start and there’s a finish. So in a sense people start the race and don’t finish. It’s a bit like me running a seminar where I don’t turn up at the start, don’t come back from the breaks on time and I don’t play full tilt 100% of the time, you will feel ripped off, wouldn’t you?

Another problem is 80% of people don’t start at the start, trying to join the 800m race in the middle, only to be disqualified at the end.

What happens is people try one thing after another being attracted to the next “shiny object” never COMPLETING what they started in the first place. Hence, there was NEVER a chance of “success”. Then they blame everyone and everything for their failure when in fact it was a problem they have with COMPLETION.

Look, let me ask you as question, could you be good or great at anything if you stuck with it long enough to be good at it? Maybe with a few physical exceptions, your answer will be yes. Mine too. You see everything…

I’m good at I was once bad at, everything I’m still bad at is because I never invested enough time, energy, or money (COMPLETE) to be good at it.

Congratulations are in order here. If you are reading this you are already part of the 10%ers, not the 90%ers who are drinking beers and watching TV. The thing about 90%ers is that they have a problem, they always have to be content with…

someone else deciding how much money
they can have and when they can have it.

Us, the 10%ers, will never be satisfied with someone else telling us what we are worth.

A common question I get asked is, #1 “how long it will take?” #2 “how much is it going to cost?” #3 “What am I going to get?” Well, if you did a 5 year MBA (3 year degree and 2 year MBA), it’s going to cost you roughly $80,000 per year at Harvard Business School or $40,000 per year at UWA, either way it’s not cheap and you are going to get real smart. I won’t understand you and you are going to learn a lot of stuff I’ll never use.

Conversely if you spend 3 days with me learning what I call the Streetsmarts, it’ll cost you about $2000, you are going to get real street smart also and there is a name for you. IT’S BOSS… and here is what I know. More of YOU (boss) will employ more of them, than they will ever employ.

And if you want to be filthy rich you’ve got to COMPLETE what you started because that’s what filthy rich people do.

In fact IT IS THE secret to success you have been searching for all these lean years. It could be the most successful trait commonly possessed by the most successful people on this planet.

I have learnt THE SECRET TO SUCCESS in my 58 years of expensive experience and like most GREAT TRUTHS in life it is ELEGANTLY SIMPLE…. NOT COMPLEX AND COMPLICATED.

In order to be successful you HAVE TO TAKE RISK… however most people are afraid to take risks because they are AFRAID TO FAIL and they are worried about what people will think.

Put simply when successful people fail at anything or when they don’t achieve what they expected to achieve, they don’t view it as a… mistake. They view it for what it REALLY is, it’s just a result and an opportunity to adjust.

After all there can be only 3 possibilities… better than anticipated, worse than anticipated or conversely equal to the result anticipated.

Just yesterday I did a seminar in Sydney, a small intimate event with just under 30 people, still my preferred type of event, where I get to speak for the whole day, just me, where I can customise my presentation to meet the outcome of the individuals present.

With small numbers it gives me the opportunity to quickly go round the room at the start and find out who is there, why they are there and what they do business wise.

Anyway, after the event, one of my regular members asked me if I “achieved what I wanted to achieved on the day and did the result of the day meet my expectation”.

My interpretation of that question was, “was I happy with the number of people who showed up?”, “did they have a good time and get what they wanted?”, and “did I make a few sale and justify financially putting it on?”

My response was, “it will be whatever it is, I can’t change what happen on the day BUT what I can change is what happens in the future”

And to be honest with you, I felt I made a few mistakes but NOW I’m well aware of what those mistakes are. And NOW I will adjust what I do next base on the results achieved (using this event as my reference point).

I know I am not those mistakes in the future.

It raises a couple of interesting points. The first one being the expectation of perfection. I would never have run the event if I expected it to be perfect. The only way for anything to be perfect, if there is such a thing, is by doing it (having results) and adjusting it for improvement.

A lot of people spend all of their lives wanting things to be perfect before they give it a go.

Frankly, I let go of this one a long long time ago. Why? Because it didn’t serve me and it would never allow me to have reached the height of success (if you would called what I’ve reached successful) that I have today.

It is just that… I DON’T TAKE FAILURE PERSONALLY and I know failure (RISK), if you must use that term, gets you closer to success.

In fact, recently a dear friend of mine thanked me, for many years ago, giving him permission to stop trying to be perfect. I had actually forgotten about it. I thought it was just a passing comment, but to him it was a REVELATION because in a sense he lived his life paralysed by perfection and the false thought that it’s possible to achieve such an outcome.

The seminar was a test and based on that test there are changes I now need to make that I wouldn’t have known about had I not done it.

I simply understand I am not my mistakes and the next seminar will be even better because I know what to correct to make it better.

All highly successful people know you get a second chance, and a third and a fourth chance and… you are not your mistakes and to be successful you must view and embrace RISK differently.

All the best,
