David Beckham

The 38-year-old Beckham, who recently won a league title in a fourth country with Paris Saint-Germain, said Thursday he will retire after the season.

“I’m thankful to PSG for giving me the opportunity to continue but I feel now is the right time to finish my career, playing at the highest level,” the former England captain said in a statement.

After announcing his retirement on Thursday, Beckham’s role in soccer will take on a new dimension worldwide.

He has an ambassadorial role for Chinese soccer and for British television channel Sky, as well as an option to buy a franchise in Major League Soccer.

Beckham reportedly is being paid 20 million euros ($30.6 million) over five years to work as a Sky Television ambassador — showing the drawing power he retains.

“He’ll have more time on his hands and more time for commercial partners and the brands he can work or be associated with,” said Steve Martin, the chief executive of M&C Saatchi Sport and Entertainment. “He has also got so many commercial sponsors that will carry on whether he is playing or not.”

He may develop business interests in the United States, too.

Beckham had five decent years with the Los Angeles Galaxy from 2007-12, winning the championship in his last two seasons. He still has first refusal if he is offered an MSL franchise, although for now it remains unclear where that might take him.

According to a statement released to the Associated Press, the singer, reportedly suffering from dehydration and exhaustion, was advised by doctors to rest, and might need to hold off on Wednesday night’s second show at Antwerp’s Sportpaleis as well.

The statement added that the singer is, “awaiting word from her doctors before making a decision” on Wednesday’s show. The tour kicked off in Serbia on April 15 and is scheduled to continue through an August 5 date at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. She has played 20 dates so far and has 11 European shows left after the Antwerp gigs before the production kicks into gear again with a June 28 date at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

In a recenet news, Lucy Hale has opened up about recovering from an eating disorder.

The Pretty Little Liars star revealed last year that she used to “go days without eating” but has managed to overcome her struggles.

Hale has now told Seventeen that she is so glad that she has recovered.

“I’m so unbelievably lucky that I’m not like that anymore because it is a horrible way of life and it’s miserable,” she said. “It consumes everything you think about and you can’t pursue things you want to do… I used to spend so many wasted days being depressed and feeling gross.

“I learned you have to be happy. People who are the happiest are the most beautiful.”

Ethan Hunt has accepted another mission. Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have set Tom Cruise in a deal to star in and produce a fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise. Both Paramount and Skydance have confirmed this, but they are not saying who’s writing and directing, or when they are targeting release.

The last installment, “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” was helmed by Brad Bird with Jeremy Renner and Paul Patton joining Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt, in the film. No plot details have been revealed.

The CAA-repped Cruise was most recently seen in Universal’s sci-fi pic “Oblivion,” which has grossed more than $220 million world wide.

“Lilit gave birth to a beautiful baby girl,” her rep tells Us Weekly. The tot weighed in at 8 pounds, 9 ounces.

The Detroit Lions running back and 25-year-old dancer have been dating for about a year and a half. Bush confirmed Avagyan was pregnant in October 2012 on Florida’s Paul and Young Ron Morning Show. “I have a little one on the way,” he said. “We’re pretty excited!”

Bush famously dated Kim Kardashian on-and-off for several years before calling it quits for good in March 2010. The 32-year-old reality starlet is also expecting her first child in July with boyfriend Kanye West.
