The road to becoming rich is definately never a simple one. It starts with a steep, upward, rocky and unstable surface. The good news is that if you persevere and get past this section the road suddenly becomes a whole lot smoother.

Most people unfortunately give up far too soon even if they have all the tools required to succeed. As the old adage says 'Winners never quit and quitters never win'. Don't make that most basic of mistakes if you want to succeed. Keep going you CAN do it. If you make a mistake, correct it then try again. If others attempt to ridicule your ambitions, ignore them. Keep on keeping on and eventually you will be rewarded with all you heart desires. Looking back from the other side, you will definately hear yourself saying "It was worth it".

Prepare For Change

I recently heard a very interesting quote from a man whom I very much admire in the field of wealth creation. Brian Tracy said "To achive something you have never achieved before, you must become someone you've never been before". This is an important concept for those of you who want to live a richer, more fulfilling lives.

Old habits die hard and too many people fail because of a reluctance to change. As the old maxim says "The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same same thing and expect a different result". Study successful people you either know or admire. Try to find out more about their daily routine, how does it compare with yours? Then ask yourself, would they benefit from being more like yourself or would you benefit from being more like them? Note well the answer.

Online Event Registration - Powered by www.eventbrite.com

Could You Be Rich?

What do you want to achieve in your life? If you ask this question to the average person in the street most will pause to think. This response has always puzzled me. Surely it is one one of the most fundamental questions? One that if you have no idea or have to think about before answering, you certainly have next to no chance of any for of success. Stumbling through life hoping to get lucky just isn't a viable option for those serious about wanting to acquire personal wealth.

So ask yourself the question over. What do you want to achieve in your life? If you cannot answer definitively and concisely, think hard until you come up with an answer that excites you and you believe in. You will surely arrive at your destination quicker if you know where you are going before you leave!

Skinny Latte & A Piece Of My Mind

Yesterday I stopped into a coffee shop for a drink and a slice of my favourite carrot cake. The shop was quite busy and shortly after sitting at a table, two men who were obviously on their way home from work asked if they could join me at the table. Obviously I agreed, they sat down and then I couldn't help but have to listen to a conversation that started a little like this:

"Did you see Bob's tie today?"

"Yeah, it was ridiculous. He looked like a clown"

"What about Jenny from accounts, she totally messed up that report"

"I know, she's useless I think they should sack her. That new guy isn't shaping up to much either is he?"

"Nah"

And so it continued for the next twenty minutes. Just about everybody the two guys had met that day must have come in for some kind of criticism. I feel lucky that I don't have to work in their office as it must clearly be full of incompetant, badly dressed, thoughtless, ugly, fat, stupid and boring freaks. I guessed these two must be the only two 'normal people' in the company. Eventually, after finishing the cake, I thought I would run the risk of a punch in the face and said "Excuse me, Did you know that neither of you have one single positive comment since you came in?". The question was greeted with a shocked look and a stunned silence.

The point I make today is that negative thinking will more often than not bring negative outcomes and is bad habit that will prevent you becoming successful. Somebody wears a cheap pair of shoes or an overcoat you don't like...why feel the need to comment on it? After all you are not the one wearing it, so how does it affect you or your life? The trait of finding fault with others is often a way of deflecting flaws in our own character that we don't want to face up to.

An ability to appraise yourself and your character honestly is extremely difficult but is vital to becoming succesful. After all, if you don't know what your weaknesses are, how can you address them? If you are struggling, ask your partner or a close friend what they feel are your worse characteristics...but be prepared for some uncomfortable answers!

Meanwhile, the next time you are about to criticise somebody just pause to think if it truly serves any constructive purpose, if not, why no try to find a compliment instead? Believe it will make you feel much better.

Monday, Monday. Can't Trust That Day?

For many people all over the globe, Monday heralds the end of a weekend and the start of a new working week. I used to, as millions still do, loath the day. For me it symbolized the end of lazy mornings in bed, afternoon lunches with family and evenings with friends. I came to resent Mondays, mornings especially, as they represented a return to the mundane, predictable and often boring corporate office jobs I used to fill. The pain of that Monday 6:30am alarm still pierces my ears when I think about it.

Fortunately, for me at least, times have changed. This weekend I was lucky enough to visit Rome, Italy with a few old friends but even as we were dining on Saturday night I still found my mind wandering onto things I could do at my office. The odd thing was, although I was having a great time, I was excited by the thought of getting back for Monday morning!

Choose Wisely

For people considering starting their own business as a way of accumulating wealth, my message is clear. Be sure you LOVE what you choose to do. It is nearly impossible to become successful in a business unless you are passionate about it. How else could you cope with all the stress of cashflow, finance, long hours and sacrifice that a new venture often requires? Running a business that genuinely interests you is vital, even if sometimes it requires courage to make the choice.

Fotune Favours The Brave

I'm reminded of a friend who, after being made redundant from a job he hated with a major accountancy firm, told me he was going to start his own business. "Great" I said, knowing how much he had grown to despise accounting, "What you going to do?". You can see what's coming....Accountancy!! The business was bust within a year. Not because my friend doesn't have a the acumen to run his own business (he has since gone on to own his own golf accessories company) but because he simply made a bad first choice and he tried to stick with something he knew, even though he didn't really like it.

Be bold, be creative, be honest to yourself and have the courage to choose an area of business that enthuses you. It will make success infinitely easier to achieve.

House Of Cards | Ponzi Schemes

Recent news has carried two high profile accusations of fraud against well respected, high profile and succesful members of the business world. The cases of Bernie Madoff and Allen Stanford shocked the globe with the sheer magnitude of alleged fraudulent activities. For those not in the know, both men have been accused of running a so called 'Ponzi Scheme'. In such a scheme investors are lured with a high (unrealistic) return but upon maturity of the investment, this is paid with the money of new investors. It's an old system and like it's close friend, the 'pyramid scheme', it is destined to fail at some point.

Lessons to be Learned

Obviously the newspapers and TV stations are running plenty "buyer beware" stories and the mantra being oft repeated is "If something seems too good to be true, It probably is".

I however would like to make a more basic point, though one that is vital to everybody who wishes to accumulate large personal wealth. Long term financial success can only be based on honesty. Sure there may be circumstances where you may be forced into telling a 'white' lie, but there is no chance for people who are deliberately dishonest. Given time, lies catch up with those who tell them and it is NEVER worth risking reputation or freedom to do so.

In all your day to day dealings, try to be as honest, open and trustworhty as possible. For those that manage this, the road to riches and lasting happiness will be smoother than you think.

American Idol | Wildcards?

Good to be with you again! It's that time of year again where America is gripped with 'Idol' fever. The popularity of talent shows of this nature are a truely global phenomenon, with nearly every country that had TV getting in on the act of trying to create superstars. Whilst I must confess to watching (and enjoying) many episodes of this type of show over the years, certain aspects of this style of show I just can not and will not agree with.

It's My Dream

My problem doesn't lie with the format of the show, which has unearthed global stars like Kelly Clarkson and Leona Lewis, but more with frustration I feel with the oft repeated rhetoric of so many of the contestants. Foe every superstar created there are hundreds of thousands of people who try and fail to win the show. How many of those contestants do we hear spouting "It's my dream", "I want this so bad" or "It's the only thing I ever wanted"?

eventbrite.com

Yet if you were to ask most of those contestants what they have ever done (other than apply to be on the show) about persuing a career in music to acheive their 'dream', you probably won't get such an emotional response. Most have never had a singing lesson, can't play an instrument, haven't so much as tried to write their own material, read music or bothered to glean even a basic working knowledge of the music industry as a whole. So how deep is that 'love of music' or how strong is that 'dream'?

In Your Hands

Whilst exceptional talent will always rise to the top, exceptional talent is a rarity...that's what makes it exceptional! This type of show highlights why most people will never rise beyond mediocrity at best. If you have a dream, by all means follow it but concentrat all you efforts on it and seek expert help with it. Make sure the things you do are done with that ultimate dream in mind. Take responsibility for your own actions. Make sure your future remains in your hands. Don't allow decisions to be made for you and then put your own failure down to 'bad luck' or 'fate'. The vast majority of us will encounter failures (temporary defeat) at some point. Learn from your mistakes, readjust and come back stronger. You will be suprised at the greatness you can achieve by concentrating your efforts and making sure the things you do count towards your ultimate dream. For those who can persist, living the dream is within reach.

Attend one of my workshops. I must confess that despite my years working in and running varying businesses, this is first foray into the world of blogging. I trust the experience will be both an education and an enjoyment.

Why Blog Now?

As some of you will already be aware, I recently decided to run a series of workshops around the world to share my knowledge and experiences with people who would like, or feel like they need, help in shaping a positive future for themselves. Over the coming weeks I will give a flavor of what the events will involve, discuss how news events could affect our lives and provide all of my readers practical and useful tips to apply in their day to day lives.

Who Can Benefit?

In these times of economic uncertainty it struck me that although governments worldwide may be keen on spending billions bailing out banks, who was helping the ordinary people going about their day to day lives? Not for nearly a century has there been a bigger incentive for individuals to take control of their own lives and finances. My 'Make A Million Workshops' are my offering to the people who want to change their lives and embrace success for themselves and their family.

So What Is It?

I want to make clear that my workshops carry no 'Get Rich Quick' guarantee, nor are they just a potracted sales exercise, attendees will not be required to buy any product or join any scheme. However I can tell you that gaining abundance, be it monetary or otherwise, in your life is a skill that can be learned. Moreover, it can be learned by anybody. I don't care if you already own your own business, are just thinking about it, working a average or low paid job, even if you have no job or money at all......If you can follow instructions you have the potential to become a millionaire, not just once but many times over! Just imagine how good it would feel for you and your family to wake up every morning knowing that you were financially secure.

Until Next Time

I will be updating the blog twice a week and I am sure we will get the opportunity to discuss the topics of the day and touch on some of the techniques used that makes the wealthy, wealthy. In the meantime check out eventbrite.com for a list of the cities and dates I'll be visiting on the upcoming tour. I've tried to keep prices down to a minimum however if you would really like to attend but are suffering severe financial hardship, I will be offering one place at each event to a deserving case. Please email me for cosideration. Until next time,

Lloyd.

Online Event Registration - Powered by www.eventbrite.com
