Ghost Prank Brings Fear and Laughs at the Same Time

This is one of the most popular viral videos out at the moment and as soon as you press the ‘play’ button you’ll realize why. Poor innocent members of the public have to endure this black-clad ghost jumping out at them from hiding places in an around a public park. The reactions of the public are so hilarious because they run away at top-speed as if they are acting in an episode of Benny Hill. One woman even sees the need to run away from the ghost even though she has a tough-looking dog with her. She obviously thought that Fido didn’t have what it took to fight off this moaning, whining ghost who seems to particularly enjoy lurking under shrubs and bursting out when people least expect it. Initially, members of the public seem only mildly spooked by the ghost’s presence, but when he starts lumbering towards them like something out of a John Carpenter movie, that’s when the public really start to get upset about the whole prank, sprinting as fast as their legs will carry them away from this appalling apparition. The piece de resistance must be a chubby guy in shorts who really doesn’t know where to run away to after he is given the diabolical treatment by the ghost who will not stop pestering him until he has obtained the right reaction for the hidden camera, for this clip must be from one of those prank shows that reaps humor from making members of the public look stupid. However, the ghost finally meets his match when a fit-looking guy in sunglasses doesn’t give the reaction that the average member of the public does. Instead, this guy does a roundhouse karate kick, narrowly missing the ghost and giving him a taste of his own frightening medicine. After that, I’d guess the ghost slunk away pretty embarrassed, with his scythe between his legs. He was probably put off scaring people for a long time and decided to take up martial arts lessons for self-defense instead.

Most people know that Japanese humor can be pretty sick and crazy right? Well this clip really takes the cake. Unsuspecting members of the public go into a portable toilet and start doing their business in the belief that they have utmost privacy. That is until the roof of the john opens up and the floor starts elevating until, before he knows it, Joe Public is sitting with his ass or his Johnson exposed to quite a lot of other Japanese people! How embarrassing. The highlight’s got to be the second guy who, when he realizes that the world is looking at his ‘private business’ suddenly starts trying to pull his pants up as if nothing has happened which is just so goddamn funny you got to see it! Once he’s covered himself up – or covered his ass shall we say? – he just stands on the top of the john not knowing what he’s supposed to do. At least he’s luckier than the next guy who, when the floor lifts up and he’s giving a moony to the public, causes two women down below to turn and bow their heads in disgust. Seems like they didn’t appreciate this ‘toilet humor’ right? Lucky for the victim of the prank, the floor descends back down to the cover of the door and his embarrassment is at an end. The next location that this cheeky portable toilet is taken to is on top of a mountain where you’d imagine people would really need such a facility. The next victim of the prank is a poor guy who really doesn’t see the funny side; after the 10 second countdown he looks genuinely scared as the floor starts to elevate up to the top and really make a first-class, A-1 jackass of him. There is a slight alteration so that the john turns into a jet ski that launches the next hapless customer into the ocean! Tiger v Monkey in Peculiar Match-Up!

What could be funnier than seeing full-on fights within the animal kingdom as we enjoy the various specialist skills of different species? This clip pits the cheekiness of the monkey against the power of the tiger and the results are extremely amusing. First off, there are two tiger cubs innocently play fighting somewhere deep in the jungle. Then Mr Monkey makes his appearance, reaching down from on high to tickle his foes, too intelligent to take on these vicious beasts one-to-one because he knows he’ll get owned. So for the rest of the clip he spends his time tormenting the tiger cubs. At around the 2 and a half minute mark, events go into warp speed with the monkey suddenly jumping incredibly fast between branches and stepping up its tormenting of the tiger cubs by springing down on a vine and swiping them with its hand. How very rude indeed! One of the tiger cubs reacts by leaping up to catch the monkey but it narrowly fails in its bid to end the torment. There are some slo-mo shots of the monkey moving with amazing lithe agility in order to escape the grasp of his enemies, the vines bending to near-breaking extent but the monkey always managing to get out of his tight spot. The last section of the clip is a game of furtive hide and seek, with the tiger cubs snooping around the jungle trying to locate the monkey who has found a safe spot up a tree. He just watches with a certain air of ‘you can’t catch me’ sorta arrogance. Bless him, he’s probably tired after all the excitement of the day and who could blame him for taking a rest? He’ll need to conserve his energy if he’s going to escape from the tigers. The thrill of this clip is that if the monkey makes one false move he’ll fall into the mercy of the tiger cubs who would tear him to shreds on their ‘home turf’ so to speak. So there’s an extra thrill to this as you watch it ‘cos in the back of your mind you’re worrying as well as smiling!

‘So what is this clip?’ I hear you ask. ‘More sporting accidents? Why should I bother watching it?’ To which I would reply, ‘Yes, more sporting accidents but these are the crème de la crème, and make no mistake.’ You might ask, ‘Is it sophisticated drawing room comedy?’ Frankly no. ‘Is it tasteful?’ Hell no. ‘BUT is it funny?’ Oh yes indeed, and that’s the most important thing when watching clips on the internet. At number 6 on this weird pop chart is a truly absurd gymnastics accident during which this guy jumps so far that he actually looks like he is flying. He ends up smacking his head into one of those bouncy blocks they use in the sport. Watching him go is really mindblowing. You’ll be left thinking, ‘How the hell’d he do that without the aid of some kind of equipment?’ In at number 5 is a frankly horrific accident happening to a racing car which manages to be reduced to only half a chassis and one wheel before it goes skidding and sliding into a crash barrier. I’m certain this accident was fatal which kinda detracts from the humor element but never mind. Number 4 is a motor racing accident but even more absurd – on a tight corner one car flips out totally, spinning through the air before crashing down on to the race track in a frenzy of smoke and busted smithereens. Now everyone knows ice hockey is a rough old sport and clip number 3 really does that side of it justice, what with an player getting all cut up by an ice skate and bleeding profusely all over the rink. Number 2 doesn’t disappoint either – a football quarterback runs with the ball only to be tackled and break his leg in a seriously flexible and bendy way. It’s so absurd you gotta just see it! And now ladies and gentlemen for the grand finale, the number 1 weirdest and funniest sporting accident is (drum roll please) another hockey player who, after a collision at the goal mouth, bleeds like a goddam waterfall from his throat. Let’s hope he survived that ‘little scratch’.

Amusing Reason to Use Condoms

Amongst all the condom joke commercials there have been, this has to be pretty highly ranked: watch this crazy kid smash a supermarket up and lie on his back howling before the killer punchline is delivered. You know from the start there’s gonna be a whole lotta trouble as the sour-faced little brat moodily dumps items into the shopping trolley while Dad (who looks a lot like a young Boris Becker) watches with sheer misery. Then brat features starts demanding sweets at the top of his voice. Dad tells him to be quiet but this is just like a red rag to a bull, the kid losing his mind and firstly pulling and pushing the trolley then doing a demolition job on the various items for sale. As the annoying little brat lies on the floor yowling like a cat with its “*&^ stuck in a mangle, the advice ‘Use condoms’ underlines Dad’s pained expression. According to You Tube, this clip was banned but I find that hard to understand. There are no rude or lewd goings-on just maybe a bit of ironic anti-child sentiment which might have been enough to get it stopped from being broadcast in certain liberal European countries who knows? The extra laughs here are added by the other customers in the supermarket who look on with incredulity at the way this terrible brat is acting up – like some feverish junky in need of a hit. They say that sugar is quite an addictive and destructive substance and overdoses of it used to make me hyperactive as a kiddy that’s for sure. The worst thing that the dad in this commercial could have done is give in to his son’s bullying and got him the sweets. As condom jokes go, this has to be up there with that classic piece of graffiti that was famous in the UK in the 1970s. In a public restroom just above a condom machine some wit had written ‘This is the worst chewing gum I have ever tasted’. Heh heh, those contraceptive devices will always have a whole heap of comic mileage from now until the end of time.

Evolution Dance Party, Just Grows and Grows!

We’ve all been there, or if we haven’t we’ve all seen it: the lone dancer who’s overindulged too early in the day and started dancing on his own, oblivious to the fact the he isn’t part of something bigger and better. But this clip has a happy ending because that lone dancer attracts a whole bunch of others to join him and turn an awkward bit of solo pleasure into a full-scale party. In only a pair of shorts, the lone dancer makes some oddly camp moves at first, thrusting his hands up in the air as if he is in a girl band. He then looks overjoyed to be joined by someone else in a green top whom he immediately starts dancing with. Green top seems as out of it as lone dancer because he looks a bit on the wobbly side and spends a bit of time on his hands and knees but that doesn’t matter – there are more guests on their way to this impromptu party and things are gonna get funky. At around the 1 minute 20 mark the party has gone viral with 9 then 10 then 11 then 12 then tons more ravers gettin’ on down to it. This is where the clip becomes quite remarkable and things get rather exciting – you wouldn’t have thought there’d be enough people interested in joining in but there really are. The lone dancer should feel proud of himself for starting something special. Maybe he’s a seasoned rabble-rouser who specializes in generating large crowds for various purposes: political rallies, street parties, etc etc. Maybe – and this is the more likely explanation – he was just out of his tree at this fun-looking festival and other kindred spirits thought, ‘Yeah sure why not – he is so I might as well be’. It’s always hard to be the first, to be a trailblazer, a pioneer. But that lone dancer is one and his fine work has made for an awesome and funny clip that people will want to watch over and over.

Crazy iPhone Blender Destruction!

Are you ready for a bit of senseless anarchy? Ever been curious to know what exactly happens when you introduce a brand new iPhone to a high-speed blender? Then check this funny clip out. The tagline is that the iPhone can do so much but will it blend? The white-coated boffin in charge of the experiment is called Tom Dickson and he takes out the iPhone, puts it into the blender and presses the smoothie button. As you’d expect, the little gadget is completely destroyed as a subtitle reading ‘Don’t try this at home’ appears. We are treated to a close-up action replay during which we see every tiny piece of the broken iPhone get churned up into even tinier pieces, it’s screen shimmying off, its buttons all spraying against the blender’s walls. This process goes on and on until the destroyed cellphone is ground down into a very fine black powder. When Tom lifts the lid off the blender, nasty acrid smoke leaks from out the top of it and Tom declares that we shouldn’t breathe this in. No shit Sherlock. He then puts the black powder into a smart-looking bowl as if he’s going to serve it at a dinner party. The answer at the end of the clip is,as you would expect, ‘Yes it blends!’ No one has suggested that this might be a total waste of time and money probably because it’s so damn funny to watch. Apparently this clip was made in response to a strong demand from YouTube viewers for such an experiment to be filmed. This might make you think that there are some pretty weird people out there with peculiar notions about entertainment, or maybe there are just plenty of people who hate Apple and want to see broken iPhones at the click of a mouse. Who honestly knows why? Who cares? What else does this Tom Dickson dude get up to in his spare time? Slow-cooking laptops in microwaves? Feeding PSPs into industrial shredders? Baking webcams in breadmakers? I bet he has a lot of friends.

German Kid Loses It With His Computer Game

Someone should have told the poor kid in this clip that Unreal Tournament is just a game and that you shouldn’t try to replicate what happens in it in your own bedroom. This is 4 and a half minutes of wailing, smashing, desk-sweeping, computer-assaulting and general all-round frustration which would be tragic if it wasn’t so goddamn funny. The root of this tetchy German kid’s annoyance is the fact that his game won’t load fast enough – what a terrible thing! It’s not like he’s going hungry or sleeping rough or anything like that. The camera angle in this sequence is great: we get to see this kid up close and personal as his face gets redder and he starts to say and do more and more hilarious stuff. The funniest thing has to be his curious demand that the computer should ‘eat its melted shit’. It takes quite a lot of imagination to work out how precisely that would happen but never mind. The English subtitles translating this German kid’s poisonous words are very helpful and we get a real glimpse into the sheer range of colorful Teutonic swear words that exist. It must be the case that this kid will grow up to be one of those anger-fuelled old men with permanently sour faces who rant about everything from the weather to their granddaughter’s boyfriend to the sports results. Even when this kid gets the computer game working he doesn’t cool down, breathlessly, almost worriedly asking ‘Which son of a bitch is shooting at me?” before losing the game at the very last minute of the clip and wailing like a banshee who’s just seen his entire family killed in a freak accident. He moves gear up into a horrible Mike Patton-style squeal and begins beating the £$*& out of his keyboard against the desk, its buttons flying every which way. Where are his parents while all this is going on? Somehow the kid’s announcement that ‘I don’t want to wait I want to play!’ at the 1 minute mark seems to sum up his whole generation.

T-Mobile Spectacular Mass Dance-Off at a Major Train Station

Nowadays everyone is too businesslike, always in a rush, no time for fun. Places like train stations are associated with boredom and stress but this advert by T-Mobile turns that on its head as we see maybe a hundred people dancing to a succession of classic songs, among them ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ by Rainbow, ‘Shout’ by Lulu, and ‘Don’t Cha’ by the Pussycat Dolls and Busta Rhymes. The humor in this sequence lies in the fact that the last thing you expect while boring yourself rigid at a train station is a bunch of wannabe Michael Jacksons taking to the stage and showing off their funky dancing. The real surprise here is the way the dancers are totally synchronized with each other, bowing and jiggling and pirouetting at exactly the same time, as if this whole thing had been painstakingly rehearsed. There’s a bit of smoke and mirrors here because all the dancers are dressed as if they are the usual commuters – in suits and ties or hoodies or overcoats – but it’s clear enough they are trained pros as soon as they start shaking their booties. They subtly adapt their dancing styles to each genre of music as it arrives on the P.A., so they are happily waltzing along to Mozart one second and then disco dancing to ‘Get Down On It’ by Kool and the Gang the next. The tagline of the commercial is ‘Life is for sharing’ and this is backed up by the shots, about halfway through, of other commuters filming the whole event on their camera phones or grinningly phoning their friends about what they have just seen. Oh isn’t commercial-world so much more cheesy than the real world? But then this clip kind of mixes the two because you can see the shock on the faces of real commuters when all this staged funky dancing kicks off and a sort of publicity stunt has been pulled. Perhaps this would have been funnier had completely untrained dancers been employed to do their thang, being all clumsy and making total jackasses of themselves. Just a suggestion for a sequel, that’s all.

Little Panda Sneeze Shocks Big Panda

Who’d have thought that a harmless little panda could be so loud and scary when he sneezes? The real shock of this clip is the sheer force of the way the panda sneezes, how such a tiny wee feller can scare the living daylights out of what appears to be his mom who is sat there nursing him just as a good mom should. For a good ten seconds this little panda is sat in his mom’s lap chilling out on a carpet of straw, until he gets a touch of the old hay fever and makes a noise like a Rottweiler catching its nuts in a mousetrap. This shocks big panda mom who promptly recoils backwards, kicking her limbs up in the air. Crazy or what? What the hell did they put in that straw to make such immense panda sneezes possible? By the look of the bars in the background this sequence must have taken place in a zoo or some other place of captivity, so maybe little panda was making some ‘dirty protest’, trying to brew up enough snot to muck the cell up and send out a message of disgust about the conditions to the zookeeper. I wonder if after all this both little panda and big panda got bumped up into a penthouse suite with a silk carpet instead of straw, gold-framed windows instead of bars and caviar to eat instead of bamboo.

In China you can get the death penalty for 68 different crimes, amongst them murder, drugs trafficking and fraud, and they don’t mess about with years on death row, they take you out into the countryside shortly after you are sentenced, put a bullet in your head and, in the not so recent past, would have charged your family for the cost of it. Nice. But did you know that you could get executed in China for killing a panda? Well good luck to anyone who wants to take on this diminutive terror with the killer sneeze. If he can create this much havoc with a sneeze who knows what would happen if he, say, swung a paw or went for a bite? Potential poachers beware!
