What a great concept behind this video, to mash together many people’s two favorite films into a hilarious parody. The sound of Scarface’s classic scene where Tony Montana repels his enemy gangsters with a mini-gun, shouting, “Say hello to my little friend” is dubbed over Han Solo shooting his way through stormtroopers in Star Wars. The guy (or gal) who made this video clearly had a lot of time on his hands to be able to trawl through both of these classic movies and find the similarities between them. There are clever comparisons made between the Michelle Pfeiffer character in Scarface and Princess Leia, as well as between Han Solo’s piracy and Tony Montana’s gangsterism.

The themes of money, power and revenge

Are highlighted in both movies as these are major motivations for both Solo and Montana. There are plenty of sequences here where Solo insults Jabba the Hut using the voice of Montana: “If you f*&% with me, you’re f£)@ing with the best!” The most hilarious thing about this clip is that it has been created as if it is a genuine trailer for a movie that will be coming out next year called Scar Wars. Man, I bet a lot of people would want to see this, especially geeks and students who have wasted years of their lives watching these movies over and over again until they know the scripts forward and backward.

My favorite bit in the hole goddamn clip is Han Solo gesturing angrily to Princess Leia and saying, with the rough-edged voice of Tony Montana, “Want a piece o’ me?” Other characters from both movies such as Darth Vader and Montana’s number 2 whose name I can’t remember right now make cameo appearances in this video, serving the overall concept very well. If you like movies or even if you don’t and you just want to have a good old laugh then you should watch this straight away without hesitation. It’ll make you want to start inventing your own combinations. The best I came up with was Donnie Fargo, a cross of course between Donnie Darko and Fargo.

Every so often a new stand-up comic comes along and really challenges received opinion while making you belly-laugh. Doug Stanhope is one such guy, a spiritual successor to Lenny Bruce, George Carlin and Bill Hicks, and is clearly a comic genius judging from this clip about the stupidity of nationalism and how it breeds hatred and stupidity is just great. With liberal use of cuss words, Stanhope talks about how Americans claim that they saved France in two World Wars but, Stanhope asks, was that all Americans? Was that him and his buddy Tommy who didn’t save the French last night but instead watched drank shots of Jagermeister, watched sports bloopers on TV and went out for Wendy’s burgers?

At no point was there any contact made between him and the French. Instead, Stanhope concludes, maybe him and Tommy should just shut the f%^$ up. Doug Stanhope has been making waves for about twenty years now, with no joke too extreme for him to tell. In the past he has mocked every religion, joked about Siamese twins and covered every possible sexual perversion. But the amazing thing is that he always manages to end up sounding very sensible at the end of it, just as he does in this sketch about nationalism and the French.

In an era when many a comic seems to sell out quite early and get more lucrative work in TV or the movies, a dude like Stanhope continues to work the stand-up circuit, his material getting more confrontational rather than softer. He won’t be censored and he won’t be shut up, so it’s great that you can find a lot of his stuff for free on You Tube and really appreciate the way the guy gets steadily more drunk throughout a show and really works the crowd. I have heard a bootleg of a show where he has upset the crowd so much that they aggressively demand that he leave the stage. Now that’s what I call a serious heckle!

Any musical number that starts with the lyrics ‘The state of Florida has asked us to/Disclose our sexual crimes to you’ has got to be funny and worth watching right? That’s what I thought and I wasn’t disappointed. It is the year 1988. A cop from Miami-Dade County police introduces this handful of sex offenders by saying that they have been obliged by the law to tell the public about their misdemeanors. The sex offenders look hilariously bad – they have appalling moustaches, some wear neck braces, others wear bright orange track suits. They can barely dance, putting feet wrong every second and their rap skills leave a lot to be desired.

They state that what they are doing is the ‘Sex Offender Shuffle’

Then we get little fact files of each individual criminal and their ‘criminal record’ if you know what I mean. Each one then does a little solo rap, explaining a little about themselves and how they got to be in trouble. One criminal couldn’t ski until December, because until then he’s a sex offender. Just as the orange-clad criminal is about to tell us all about what he snuck into a bathroom and did, the very eighties video footage screws up and we don’t get to hear about it, which is probably lucky for him. The cheesiness really amps up when a sax player joins them, the sex offender shuffle starting to sound almost New Romantic.

Maybe most of the New Romantic bands were sex offenders, who knows? The only woman criminal in the group entertains us with a rap that features the lyrics, ‘You won’t find me in your child’s play set/’Cos I gotta wear this ankle bracelet’. The last guy doesn’t even rap, he just proclaims his innocence, saying he has been the victim of an extortion plot by his wife who was the only witness to the supposed crime. He is soon stopped in his tracks by a cop wielding a shotgun and gets back to dong a half-hearted rap as badly as all the others. You have to watch the clip all the way through because when the guitar solo kicks in, you get to see some real bad dancing from these funky sex offenders.

This weird European short movie starts off with a young boy playing with his toy robots. Then he notices the appearance of large War of the Worlds-like alien robot invaders who, within seconds, seem to have started taking over the world. They crush people and cars as they walk with their heavy metal feet and fire high-powered guns at skyscrapers. Symbols of civilization such as holy crosses are enveloped in smoke.

The young boy watches the air force fly off to deal with the invaders.

But they are quickly destroyed by the invaders whose own flying machines act like kamikazes taking down buildings. This is really impressive for a short viral video and looks as if it was made with a very big budget. No wonder it is currently number one on many viral video charts right now. In many ways it says everything movies like Transformers and War of the Worlds said but in only 4 minutes 48 seconds, which is quite an achievement, or maybe it just means that the aforementioned movies weren’t very good. The high (or low) point is when the robot invaders destroy what appears to be some major landmark which I don’t know what actually it is because I’m an uneducated jerk who couldn’t care less about geography.

I know it just looks cool when it’s smashed to smithereens.

The climactic last minute of the sequence is a truly amazing eruption of fire that engulfs the entire city from the ground upwards, slowly swallowing up all these fancy-looking old buildings. It looks like by now the invaders have achieved what they set out to achieve and it didn’t take them all that long! Woe betide us if some sophisticated alien race tried this for real! We’d be totally screwed, man. We can barely agree on climate change let alone on how to defend the planet. The way this clip ends though is nice – with the camera that was filming the whole thing slowly breaking down in its vision and switching off entirely just as the fire destroys all and everything

In this age of America’s Got Talent and the X Factor, there’s nothing we like more than laughing at not very talented people trying to perform. The little boy in this clip, who can’t be more than 6 years old, isn’t very talented but he makes up for it by being so cute and funny. He struggles through ‘I’m Yours’, appearing to know the chords but not really the lyrics. As a result, this funny boy hums his way through several verses, closing his eyes and howling with a passion that he hopes will divert people from the fact that he doesn’t really know what he’s doing.

That he’s playing a ukulele just adds to the comedy value, making you think of old school music hall performers with top hats and shit. The reason why this clip is at the top of the viral video charts is because there’s something so sweet and charming about the boy as he acts as if he is live at Budokan when in actual fact he’d barely get an audition at one of the talent shows mentioned above. He pauses a few times trying to remember what chord goes next, averting his eyes from the camera so he doesn’t betray his ignorance. I see a bright future ahead of him, he could become kind of like a one-man Osmonds, although with slightly more talent.

What other things could this kid play?

He could specialize in covering the most complicated songs in pop history from ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ to ‘Schism’ to ‘Dance of Eternity’. The more he f***ed it up, the funnier it would be, I am sure of that. He would quickly gain a cult audience, mostly of students, and would not doubt go on to great things. Hey ukulele boy, if you need someone to write your press releases you know how to contact me. I would require a hefty slice of your earnings, though, and you couldn’t just buy me off with a bad Jason Mraz impression, understand? Serious.

Most kids around the world fear going to the dentist but you get the impression that the one in this video thoroughly enjoyed himself there, getting a nice hit from the injection of painkillers he received. Throughout the journey, the kid’s speech is slurred and he moves with the vagueness of a zombie. He comes out with such droll lines as ‘Is this real life, Dad?’, ‘I can’t see anything!’ and ‘Is this gonna be forever?’

You realize how wrecked this little kid is

when he suddenly sits upright and hollers after being told to stay in his seat. After that he settles back in to his seat, semi-asleep, declaring, ‘I don’t feel tired!’ Most kids wait till they’re a little older before they start acting like this, but it looks like David’s got a taste of decadence as just a young kid. You can hear his Dad in the background of the video, making sure his son is all right and won’t get up to anything (too) stupid. Dad does his duty, his Dad thing, by telling David to stay in his seat and not to touch the area of his mouth that the dentist has operated on. Like all little kids,

and so there’s some real comedy mileage in the battle between Dad and son over this. Things hit a low when it appears that young David can’t see how many fingers he has. First of all he believes that he has two, to which his Dad says, ‘Good!’ then he seems to see 4. Maybe after a few hours of intense concentration he may find all 9 and a couple of thumbs there as well. Who honestly knows?

We at least hope that this little kid

didn’t develop a drug problem as a result of this mischievous little experience. He might well have decided that once was enough and that he wouldn’t be likely to do it again even when he gets to that age when peer pressure and coolness starts to figure strongly in kid’s lives.

This is one of the most popular viral videos out at the moment and as soon as you press the ‘play’ button you’ll realize why. Poor innocent members of the public have to endure this black-clad ghost jumping out at them from hiding places in an around a public park. The reactions of the public are so hilarious because they run away at top-speed as if they are acting in an episode of Benny Hill.

One woman even sees the need to run away from the ghost

even though she has a tough-looking dog with her. She obviously thought that Fido didn’t have what it took to fight off this moaning, whining ghost who seems to particularly enjoy lurking under shrubs and bursting out when people least expect it. Initially, members of the public seem only mildly spooked by the ghost’s presence, but when he starts lumbering towards them like something out of a John Carpenter movie, that’s when the public really start to get upset about the whole prank, sprinting as fast as their legs will carry them away from this appalling apparition.

The piece de resistance

must be a chubby guy in shorts who really doesn’t know where to run away to after he is given the diabolical treatment by the ghost who will not stop pestering him until he has obtained the right reaction for the hidden camera, for this clip must be from one of those prank shows that reaps humor from making members of the public look stupid. However, the ghost finally meets his match when a fit-looking guy in sunglasses doesn’t give the reaction that the average member of the public does. Instead, this guy does a roundhouse karate kick, narrowly missing the ghost and giving him a taste of his own frightening medicine.

After that, I’d guess the ghost slunk

away pretty embarrassed, with his scythe between his legs. He was probably put off scaring people for a long time and decided to take up martial arts lessons for self-defense instead.

Most people know that Japanese humor can be pretty sick and crazy right? Well this clip really takes the cake. Unsuspecting members of the public go into a portable toilet and start doing their business in the belief that they have utmost privacy. That is until the roof of the john opens up and the floor starts elevating until, before he knows it, Joe Public is sitting with his ass or his Johnson exposed to quite a lot of other Japanese people!

How embarrassing.

The highlight’s got to be the second guy who, when he realizes that the world is looking at his ‘private business’ suddenly starts trying to pull his pants up as if nothing has happened which is just so goddamn funny you got to see it! Once he’s covered himself up – or covered his ass shall we say? – he just stands on the top of the john not knowing what he’s supposed to do. At least he’s luckier than the next guy who, when the floor lifts up and he’s giving a moony to the public, causes two women down below to turn and bow their heads in disgust. Seems like they didn’t appreciate this ‘toilet humor’ right?

Lucky for the victim of the prank,

the floor descends back down to the cover of the door and his embarrassment is at an end. The next location that this cheeky portable toilet is taken to is on top of a mountain where you’d imagine people would really need such a facility. The next victim of the prank is a poor guy who really doesn’t see the funny side; after the 10 second countdown he looks genuinely scared as the floor starts to elevate up to the top and really make a first-class, A-1 jackass of him.

There is a slight alteration

so that the john turns into a jet ski that launches the next hapless customer into the ocean! This has got to be the funniest moment of the whole video so make sure you go and check it out right now.

What could be funnier than seeing full-on fights within the animal kingdom as we enjoy the various specialist skills of different species? This clip pits the cheekiness of the monkey against the power of the tiger and the results are extremely amusing. First off, there are two tiger cubs innocently play fighting somewhere deep in the jungle.

Then Mr Monkey makes his appearance,

reaching down from on high to tickle his foes, too intelligent to take on these vicious beasts one-to-one because he knows he’ll get owned. So for the rest of the clip he spends his time tormenting the tiger cubs. At around the 2 and a half minute mark, events go into warp speed with the monkey suddenly jumping incredibly fast between branches and stepping up its tormenting of the tiger cubs by springing down on a vine and swiping them with its hand. How very rude indeed! One of the tiger cubs reacts by leaping up to catch the monkey but it narrowly fails in its bid to end the torment.

There are some slo-mo shots of the monkey

moving with amazing lithe agility in order to escape the grasp of his enemies, the vines bending to near-breaking extent but the monkey always managing to get out of his tight spot. The last section of the clip is a game of furtive hide and seek, with the tiger cubs snooping around the jungle trying to locate the monkey who has found a safe spot up a tree. He just watches with a certain air of ‘you can’t catch me’ sorta arrogance. Bless him, he’s probably tired after all the excitement of the day and who could blame him for taking a rest? He’ll need to conserve his energy if he’s going to escape from the tigers.

The thrill of this clip is that if the monkey

makes one false move he’ll fall into the mercy of the tiger cubs who would tear him to shreds on their ‘home turf’ so to speak. So there’s an extra thrill to this as you watch it ‘cos in the back of your mind you’re worrying as well as smiling!

‘So what is this clip?’ I hear you ask. ‘More sporting accidents? Why should I bother watching it?’ To which I would reply, ‘Yes, more sporting accidents but these are the crème de la crème, and make no mistake.’ You might ask, ‘Is it sophisticated drawing room comedy?’ Frankly no. ‘Is it tasteful?’ Hell no. ‘BUT is it funny?’ Oh yes indeed, and that’s the most important thing when watching clips on the internet.

At number 6 on this weird pop chart

is a truly absurd gymnastics accident during which this guy jumps so far that he actually looks like he is flying. He ends up smacking his head into one of those bouncy blocks they use in the sport. Watching him go is really mindblowing. You’ll be left thinking, ‘How the hell’d he do that without the aid of some kind of equipment?’ In at number 5 is a frankly horrific accident happening to a racing car which manages to be reduced to only half a chassis and one wheel before it goes skidding and sliding into a crash barrier. I’m certain this accident was fatal which kinda detracts from the humor element but never mind.

Number 4 is a motor racing accident

but even more absurd – on a tight corner one car flips out totally, spinning through the air before crashing down on to the race track in a frenzy of smoke and busted smithereens. Now everyone knows ice hockey is a rough old sport and clip number 3 really does that side of it justice, what with an player getting all cut up by an ice skate and bleeding profusely all over the rink. Number 2 doesn’t disappoint either – a football quarterback runs with the ball only to be tackled and break his leg in a seriously flexible and bendy way.

It’s so absurd you gotta just see it!

And now ladies and gentlemen for the grand finale, the number 1 weirdest and funniest sporting accident is (drum roll please) another hockey player who, after a collision at the goal mouth, bleeds like a goddam waterfall from his throat. Let’s hope he survived that ‘little scratch’.
