by LizClements (Posted Wed, 05 Jun 2013 21:57:29 GMT)
Gateway E-4100 S/N: MFATXPNT MDP; Mfr Code: 0034304978; Mfr date 8/31/04; XP-Pro--I need information about the BIOS jumper and how to clear/reset the BIOS. It's not the typical pin/jumper, it's brown, flat and wide with gold "fingers". The computer power supply comes on when it's plugged in without ever touching the ON switch on the front but the screen stays black, no "Gateway" logo, no "F-10, F-2" to get to BIOS setup or boot sequence...nothing. There's a "parts place" called FrozenCPU.com that has a BIOS Reset cable but I don't know if it's the right thing or if it will work. I can't find this model anywhere, either...and I just got Win7 on it! I think it got zapped by a virus.

by waynrdude (Posted Thu, 14 Mar 2013 09:38:39 GMT)
I am still looking for the proper Jack for the Micron T-1000. I have found one that I have to add a wire to and drill the jack hole bigger on the case. So if anyone finds one let me know please.
As in another post I have lots of parts just no Jacks. Also someone was talking about the cmos batteries. There are two batteries in the laptop, one marked RTC. That one is not hard to find,
the correct end is not always there, I just splice the old two pin connector on it. But the other battery is a six cell 7.2v battery. Do not order just any 6 cell battery, it won't fit. The best cells for
it of course is like what was in it, the cells are single thickness and are side by side OFFSET. This is necessary for the top of the laptop to go on correctly without breaking mounting tabs. I am using
some I found that are not offset and it is still touchy to get them in.

The RTC clock small round one you should be able to get out without taking the top off, there are two keyboard screws on the bottom and pry out the keyboard at the bottom side there are three tabs.
The other battery you must take the top side of the laptop apart including the screen to get to it. Do yourself a favor while you are inside and replace the 3/4 or 1 inch fan they are almost always bad.

They are actually pretty nice little units, I am still getting $175 to $225 in my shop for them.

Wayne

by Galane (Posted Wed, 13 Mar 2013 18:09:35 GMT)
Does anyone have a ClientPro 365 recovery disc? Original OS was XP Pro.

I've downloaded the drivers, also recovered the OEM key and oembios files from the installed OS so I can make an OEM pre-activated XP install, but there's some 3rd party software on it that requires a password to uninstall, and that company doesn't give out that password to anyone. Their recommendation to "uninstall" their software is to wipe the drive and reinstall Windows. May as well see if I can obtain an original disc and get whatever preinstalled software originally came with it.

The case on this model has two USB ports exposed on the front, plus two hidden USB ports and one hidden 1394 port. I removed the breakaway covers, plugged in the second USB cable to the other ports to an unused USB header on the motherboard (there's no 1394 header, dangit) but the formerly hidden ports don't work. Seems strange that the board would have two headers for four front USB ports but MPC left one disconnected and apparently disabled.

by Willmelk (Posted Mon, 04 Mar 2013 21:35:13 GMT)
I have an MPC Transport U1100 running Windows XP Professional and would like to upgrade to Windows 7 on a new hard drive. Do I have to be concerned about updating the BIOS? Obviously, Windows 7 never was offered on the U100, but the model is labeled Windows Vista Compatible. Has anyone ever upgraded a U1100 to Windows 7? I have plenty of spare parts, including motherboards, and would like my computer to last a few more years, if possible. If this is a complete waste of time, please let me know!

Which power supply should I use? There is a guy online who is selling a 480W upgrade, but I am wondering if the Nimitz board can take advantage of that.
I'm getting this desktop ready by maxing out the ram at 2G, using a high speed harddrive, overclocking, a 256mb video card and now I need to know which power supply to upgrade with.

Paul

by bilateral (Posted Sat, 17 Nov 2012 14:30:29 GMT)
Okay, so I perhaps created this post a little prematurely, as I came up with a solution shortly thereafter. Granted I think writing out my post helped work through the logic.

Turns out the key on my COA was not the same as the key used to activate my original OS. Thanks to the application provided by BeLarc Advisor I was able to determine the key used on the "old" OS. I was able to successfully use this key with the aforementioned ISO during initialization of the OS setup. Upon completing the Windows install, all of the tablet functionality was available to use (after installing the drivers etc, etc...).

I would like to know how to access the speakers in order to check them. I'm apprehensive to take the case apart until I have some kind of an idea on how to do it.

by mentor (Posted Sun, 14 Oct 2012 07:27:05 GMT)
I have a MPC desktop computer and it crashed several weeks ago and ALL my software was gone. Net Solutions Tech Center, a local computer business assembled and sold to me my MPC with all hardware/software installed. Net Solutions reloaded Vista from a disk that was initially provided to me but I did not have a backup copy of Office Professional 2007. I have spent several hours on the phone with Microsoft to get a backup copy of Office Pro 2007 and after numerous explanations to numerous tech reps I finally received by email a .exe file for Office Pro 2007 BUT the key code provided to me by Net Solutions that was initially used to load my computer with Office Pro does not work. Microsoft says that key code belongs to MPC and is an OEM code, whatever that means. Bottom line, I have the file on my computer but cannot activate it with the key code I was provided. Very frustrating and any help or advise you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx
Don

by xodusss (Posted Sun, 14 Oct 2012 01:39:49 GMT)
I have no fix or info on one. I never get these in here for repair. As suggested, I've had several pc's that worked fine but had somehow lost a connection on the mboard and the usb would not work. I went to fry's electronics 3 times, picked up a cheap little pci usb 2.0 board for under 20 bucks and solved the problem
