Internet will run out of addresses in two years under current protocol

The world is at the risk of running out of web addresses in the next two years if business and government organizations do not switch to another level of naming protocol, web experts have warned.

A European Commission survey found that few companies are prepared for the switch from the current naming protocol, IPv4, to the new regime, IPv6.

But unless more companies migrate to the new platform, there is an apparent risk of running out of internet addresses within the next two years.

"We'll be down to our last tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of web addresses by the end of next year," The Telegraph quoted Sam Pickles, lead enterprise engineer of F5 Networks, as saying.

"New companies looking to establish a presence on the internet will have no option but to adopt the IPv6 address format. Many government and military organisations worldwide have adopted IPv6 for their internal systems already, and its adoption by companies, and eventually home users, is virtually certain," he added.

The IPv4 and IPv6 protocols refer to the way in which web addresses are created and assigned. hile the IPv4 protocol uses 32-bit addresses, which enables the web to support around 4.3 billion unique addresses, the IPv6 uses 128-bit web addresses, creating billions of possible new web addresses.

According to the EC survey, just 17 percent of the 610 government, educational and other industry organisations uestioned across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, have upgraded to IPv6.

Detlef Eckert, a director in the Commission's information society, said: "Only by ensuring that all devices connected to he internet are compatible with IPv6 can we stay connected and safeguard sustainable growth of the internet and the global igital economy, now and in the years to come."

There are thousands of asteroids in hidden orbits that scientists cannot observe. Many of them were seen after they kissed the earth and went by in galactic scale. The known danger from the asteroid is in 2028. But some scientists are watching the possibilities that a hidden asteroid in a stealth-path can destroy human civilization by hitting the earth on December 21, 2012. This is the same date when Mayans predicted the end of the world.

The probability that a ‘50-300 Meter (150-1000 Feet) Diameter Asteroid Hitting the Earth’ is 1 in 250. It can actually happen any time. The estimated fatalities would be 5000. The probability that a ‘1.5 Kilometer (1 Mile) Diameter Asteroid Hitting the Earth’ is 2 in 1 million with estimated fatalities of 1.5 billion. A similar catastrophe by a ‘10 Kilometer (6 Mile) Diameter, or greater, Asteroid Hitting the Earth’ has a probability of 1 in 100 million with 10 Billion fatalities.

Some scientists are concerned that Mayans in their time could see some hidden asteroid paths that are stealth today. The alignment of Sun, Moon and the earth on December 21, 2012 is significant because gravitational release of hidden asteroids can take place. The probabilities shown above are in normal circumstances.

However, the probabilities go thirty times higher during galactic alignments. This means that if there is a lose asteroid in a stealth path, it can deviate from its path and come towards the earth. Evening at 9 - 11pm: is the time for eliminating unnecessary/ toxic chemicals (de-toxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a negative impact on her health.

'Mind reading' device could diagnose depression in 1hr

Monash University researchers are developing a 'mind reading' device that may diagnose depression in an hour.

Brainchild of the university's Brian Lithgow, a biomechanical engineer, the machine is called an 'ECG for the mind'. It analyses the brain's electrical signals in the same way an ECG can detect heart problems, its creator says.

The revolutionary device works by plugging an electrode into the subject's ear, then strapping them to a tilt chair that triggers changes in their balance system, reports The Age.

The balance system is closely connected to primitive parts of the brain relating to emotions and behaviour.

While working with psychiatrists from Monash University's Alfred Psychiatry Centre (MAPrc), Lithgow is conducting tests to see if he can identify the unique electrical signals attached to mental illness such as depression, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

The head of MAPrc, Professor Jayashri Kulkarni, said the device could prove a major breakthrough in the diagnosis of serious mental illness.

"It is going to lift us, I think, into an era where mental illness can be better understood and better treated,"

16-year-old Babar says his only motto in life is 'education for all'. Since 2002, every evening, he has donned the role of a principal at the Anand Siksha Niketan in Gangapur village which makes him India's youngest headmaster. The students line up in Babar's backyard, where he teaches them just the way his teachers teach him in school.

Babar Ali in an interview said that he never wanted to play cricket or soccer when he was young but what he loved the most was enacting the role of a teacher. What started off as child play took serious shape in 2002 when Babar Ali, with the help of his parents, set up a room to teach on his ancestral land.

He also added that when he was in class V, he started the school with eight students. From a humble beginning, the school today provides basic education for almost 800 students with the help of 10 well-qualified teachers. What is most notable is that the students are taught for free as they come from poor families - some even work as maids and cleaners in the mornings and come to attend Babar's school in the afternoon.

But even most of the inspiring stories have some grim realities which Babar has to face daily. The government only provides funds for midday meal and books till class IV and for the expenses he has to depend on donations. He, however, hopes for better support in the coming years so he can make all his fellow students and village kids literate, and able to stand on their own feet.
