The Vision: Airy Yet Lush, Crisp Yet Romantic

The couple’s vision was bold and nuanced. They wanted a look that was airy yet lush: a space that felt open and breathable but rich with detail.

The palette centered on dark green, large-leaf tropical florals paired with soft light orange, blush, and white neutrals. Think oversized monstera and palm fronds mingling with delicate garden roses and ranunculus.

For the reception, the vibe was crisp, eclectic, and modern: clean lines with unexpected textures and patterns layered throughout.

The ceremony leaned romantic, thanks to the museum’s stunning stone architecture and, of course, hundreds of flickering candles that turned the space into something truly magical.

The Creative Partners Who Made It Happen

A Water & Earth Ritual

One of the most meaningful moments of the ceremony was a water and earth ritual. The couple combined elements from two different sources-a symbolic blending of their lives, families, and histories.

Set against the backdrop of Winterthur’s natural beauty, with candles flickering and Brooklyn Duo playing softly nearby, it was a grounding, emotional moment that left few dry eyes in the audience.

Why Winterthur?

Besides the obvious- It’s FREAKING GORGEOUS! Winterthur Museum is a dream venue for couples who love history, nature, and architecture. With its sprawling gardens, reflecting pool, and stone-walled spaces, it offers endless opportunities for design.

The couple made the most of it-placing the baby grand piano by the water, weaving tropical greenery through the reception, and letting candlelight do the heavy lifting for atmosphere.

Final Thoughts

This wedding was a masterclass in eclectic luxury-proof that you can mix modern crispness with romantic warmth, bold tropical leaves with soft neutrals, and still end up with something that feels completely cohesive. If you’re planning a wedding and want a team that understands how to balance texture, pattern, and emotion, this vendor lineup is pure gold.

A Venue Steeped in History

Located at 215 S 16th Street in the heart of Philadelphia, just steps from Rittenhouse Square, the Racquet Club of Philadelphia is a dream venue for couples who love Gilded Age architecture and urban sophistication. Its grand rotunda, sweeping staircase, private parlors, and formal dining room create the perfect flow for a wedding — from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception. The space offers indoor ceremony options by the staircase, separate cocktail and reception areas, and even a lower-level speakeasy for late-night celebration.

The Creative Team Behind the Day

This wedding was brought to life by an extraordinary lineup of Philadelphia-area vendors who delivered flawlessly:

Ceremony Music Timberdale Music Services (Brass Band)

Cocktail Hour Piano Arnie Abrams Entertainment

As guests mingled in the lobby and parlors, Arnie Abrams provided sophisticated piano music that perfectly matched the venue’s elegant atmosphere.

A Dress with a Story

One of the most touching details of the day: the bride wore her mother’s wedding dress, beautifully redesigned and reimagined by Instagram. The result was a stunning, one-of-a-kind gown that honored family tradition while feeling completely fresh and modern- a true heirloom piece for a new generation.

Later in the evening, the bride changed into the Koko dress from

Instagram, a chic second look perfect for dancing the night away in the Racquet Club’s speakeasy.

If you’re planning a Philadelphia wedding, this real wedding at the Racquet Club of Philadelphia showcases exactly what makes this venue so special:

• Historic charm meets modern luxury- the Gilded Age architecture is a photographer’s dream
• Built-in flow- ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception spaces are all on-site

A Greenhouse Wedding Designed for Connection

The design of this wedding embraced everything the Horticulture Center has to offer. Long reception tables lined with abundant candlelight, crisp white linens, and gold-toned chairs created a warm, polished look. Lush floral installations added a dramatic garden-inspired focal point, making the space feel both luxurious and alive. It’s the kind of room that invites guests to linger, to lean in, to connect.

But as beautiful as the details were, and they truly were stunning, what made this day unforgettable was something else entirely.

What Makes a Wedding Truly Beautiful

We’ve been photographing weddings for 18 years. And the thing we love most isn’t the flowers or the design, as much as we appreciate those too. It’s the connection.

The love woven through every moment. The laughter shared between generations. The hugs, the tears, the stories, the quiet glances.

It’s the energy of it all: so alive, so fleeting, so deeply human.

For one day, everyone gathers to celebrate love, and there’s something incredibly sacred about witnessing that. The Horticulture Center, with its open, light-filled greenhouse spaces, provides the perfect backdrop for those moments to unfold naturally.

Why the Fairmount Horticulture Center Is a Top Philadelphia Wedding Venue

Couples choose a Fairmount Horticulture Center wedding in Philadelphia for many reasons, but a few stand out:

• Natural light: The greenhouse architecture floods the space with soft, flattering light,  ideal for both ceremony and reception photography.

Women have always been incredibly important and we’re only here because of them. Women are banding together along with smart-minded men to assert their important roles. We’re standing up for their rights to make their own decisions about their bodies. Their rights to make any decision based on what they want regardless of how “normal” it is. No longer can they let sexism and misogyny be tolerated.

Movements like the Me Too movement are necessary steps and not just important but an inspiration to younger women like my daughters. Sexual harassment and sexual assault happen every day and no more can we allow it to happen. We empower our daughters to be part of this movement and to stand up for themselves and all women.

While we’re gaining traction, we have a long way to go. And like racism and hatred, it will always exist since it’s typically taught and passed down from generation to generation. But, instead of these things having as large of a presence in our society, I believe it will eventually be nearly extinct. Maybe not in my daughter’s lifetimes but maybe their children’s lifetimes.

There are so many incredible examples of women who stood in the face of adversity and we need to celebrate them. We must learn from them. Women like Kathrine Switzer, Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks, Margaret Hamilton and Jeannette Pickering Rankin. The list goes on and on and I look forward to seeing the list continue to grow.  (to see more of my chalk work, please visit instagram.com/chalkboardportraits/)

We started off by trekking through the paths full of greenery before coming upon the graffiti-covered tunnel we had been so excited about. I will say, it wasn’t easy to find. We basically followed the directions we found on YouTube. When we did find it, what we found was the perfect setting for intimacy and wonder. Who knew those things could be elevated by some graffiti? After some time there we continued our hike to the large areas of water resembling swimming holes. A large watering hole and a tunnel, make for the BEST cliff jumping experience…and that’s exactly what they did! Jumping into the water and relaxing, while spending some quality time together. As the photographers photographing this experience for them, it was really beautiful to see how they leaned and trusted each other through this experience. It was like we were watching a beautiful partnership shedding a new layer together. The adrenaline and chemistry between them after the jump was magical.

What also makes us continue to offer adventure type sessions to couples is the feedback we get from them after the experience. We dive deep y’all (pun intended) and we get to the heartstrings of relationships. Days after the shoot, Ayse had sent us this in an email. “Eric and I were both a bit nervous before the shoot, it was an intimidating thought to have so much attention on us, but now we have such a better understanding of how we create magic together, so kudos for that too”. Receiving this kind of feedback confirms that we are offering something special.

Dive into Ayse & Eric’s love story as they jump off cliffs and explore graffiti-covered tunnels through their exciting adventure engagement session. Also, check out Phillymag’s article about our Adventure Shoots!
