We were at the track last night testing the FM broadcast system and it was ready to be packed in, a tiny bit wet, but still raceable. Track Promoter Rick Goral said we could stand a quarter inch more max, and still pull it off. Unfortunately there was an inch and a quarter in the rain gauge by 8 AM. The pits are under water, even some spectator areas are under water at this point and the rain continues to fall intermittently still.

The 2009 ISS season ends with 3 separate winners it’s inaugural year. Greg Banker, Jay Welsing and Kyle Stark each won an event. All 3 were hoping to be the first two time winner in ISS competition but there will be no repeat winners this year.

Competitors are encouraged to participate in either the Jefferson Spookyfest, Saturday, October 31st at 1 PM, or if you prefer a dirt surface, make the trek down to Farley, IA on Sunday, Nov. 22nd.

The contest will be 200 laps and will feature a mandatory red flag, on-the-track 20 minute pit stop. During that time frame teams can do whatever they like to the cars. The race pays $1,200 to win. (Luxemburg, WI) Sept. 19- IMCA modified track champion Brian Mullen of Seymour took the lead at the drop of the green and led every lap en route to capturing the caution free, 30 lap IMCA modified feature to cap off day two of the Two Day Fall Classic presented by Tisler Salvage at Luxemburg Speedway Saturday night.

Mullen also won his feature Friday night, giving him a double for the weekend.

A total of 214 drivers representing seven different classes took part in the two day race. Luxemburg’s Pat Davister snuck past Kewaunee’s Brian Bruechert on the final circuit to win the 25 lap stock car feature.

Shawano’s Tracy Wassenberg fought off a late race surge from Oconto’s Travis Cain to capture the sportmod feature. Cain settled for second, followed by Jason Guyette, Greg Wichman and Johnny Whitman.

Ed Anschutz of Kewaunee led every lap and survived six caution periods to win the 23 lap street stock feature. The victory was Anschutz’s second of the weekend, as he won Friday night as well.

New Holstein’s Justin Danes fought off a late race charge by Brad Lubach to capture the 25 lap grand national sportsman feature.

Kewaunee’s Keith Kickbush, guest driving George Paul’s IMCA hobby stock, passed Ellisville’s Robbie Waechter on lap seven and fought off a late race charge from Denmark’s Tom Brumlic to win the 22 lap hobby stock feature.

Pulaski’s Andy Kleczka won the sport four feature.

(Luxemburg, WI – 9/18/2009) – Track champ Brian Mullen picked up where he left off in the regular season by dominating the opening night Modified feature of the Tisler Fall Classic Friday night at the Luxemburg Speedway in Luxemburg.

Mullen pulled away from an early battle with James Tebon to secure the win in the qualifying feature event, securing a spot in Saturday night’s $1,500 to win “A” main.

Other winners in the qualifying features were Troy Muench in the Stock Cars, Greg Wichman in the Sport Mods, Marcus Moede in the Hobby Stocks and Kevin Birr in the Sport 4s. Two additional classes were also on the card, with Jestin Danes winning the Grand National feature and Ed Anschutz stepping from the announcer’s booth to take top honors in the Street Stocks.

187 teams packed the pits at cut-off, with several late teams filing in to push the total car count over 190.

Those not making the show through the Friday night features will have a second chance Saturday as last chance qualifiers will open the day two program at 4:30, followed by the seven championship features.

Seven divisions of cars will compete in a pair of complete shows both nights. The track’s weekly contingent of the IMCA modifieds, stock cars, northern sportmods, hobby stocks and sport fours will be in action. In addition, the street stocks and grand nationals will also be competing.

Hot laps begin at 6:10 p.m. with the first race at 6:30 p.m. Friday night. On Saturday hot laps get underway at 4:15 p.m. with the first race at 4:30 p.m. Hobby stocks from tracks at 141, Chilton and Manitowoc Speedways will be allowed to compete under their track rules. With regards to the street stocks if you are legal at the following tracks you are legal for this event: Seymour, Sturgeon Bay, Powercom, Oshkosh and Chilton.

Sport fours legal to compete from the following tracks will be allowed to race: Luxemburg, Sturgeon Bay, Seymour, Chilton, Oshkosh, Powercom and 141. There will be no claim in all divisions. All pit spots will be on a first come, basis.

(Luxemburg, WI – 9/4/2009) – Scott “Scooter” Boyea withstood a late charge from Benji LaCrosse to win the Tri-County Heating Championship Night IMCA Modified feature Friday at the Luxemburg Speedway in Luxemburg.

Late race dramatics came into play in the Speedway’s three other IMCA classes as Troy Muench in the Stock Cars, Tracy Wassenberg in the Sport Mods and Tyler Wilson in the Hobby Stocks all claimed narrow victories. Jeff Behm capped off the night’s features with a convincing win in the Sport 4 class.

25 straight green flag laps proved to be the recipe for Boyea’s success in the Modifieds. He took the lead from Chris Derenne on the second circuit, building a solid cushion over the rest of the field through the first half of the event.

LaCrosse worked past Tim Czarneski and Dan Ratajczak to take second with ten laps to go, bringing Shawn Kilgore with him to third. LaCrosse steadily chipped away at Boyea’s advantage, closing up to his back bumper on the white flag lap.

LaCrosse had one shot at a pass for the lead, swinging to the outside line for the final sequence through corners three and four. But Boyea held just enough speed through the corner to nip the former National champ at the wire for his first win of the season.

Kilgore was next across the line; a close third.

Forced to start in the 8th row after qualifying for the main through the semi-feature, Jared Siefert kept his title hopes alive by passing points leader Brian Mullen en route to the front of the pack. Holding a ten point edge, Mullen followed Siefert forward, keeping close enough to maintain a lock on the season championship.

Siefert crossed the line fourth, with Mullen in the fifth spot, as the Seymour veteran capped off the year with his 7th track crown.

A trio of Stock Cars matched up for the Championship checker in that division’s finale. Shawn Havel had completed an early three-wide pass to take the lead, with Muench and Pat Davister eventually emerging as contenders.

Tucked to the bottom groove, Havel slipped up just enough to open the door for Muench on the 14th lap. Gaining the inside edge, Muench took control for good one lap later. As he moved past Havel, Davister slid into the opening, setting up a side-by-side duel for the runner-up spot that lasted until the end.

Havel kept the momentum from the outside to score the spot with Davister third. A late charge by fourth place running Ben Kroll ended as he slipped high and over the berm on the final turn. Kroll recovered to cross the line sixth behind Dave Bouche.

By qualifying for the feature, Jesse Colwell locked up his second straight title in the class. He backed that up with a fourth place finish in the final feature.

The season championship in the IMCA Northern Sport Mods literally came down to the final corner of the year.

Travis VanStraten entered the night with a single point lead on Arneson, and for a time it looked like the duo were headed to a co-championship.

The race within a race saw the two contenders matched up, marching forward from deep in the field, while Brad Theys, Travis Cain, Brad Lautenbach and Wassenberg all raced up front for the final feature trophy.

Arneson had settled into fourth with VanStraten tight behind him in fifth; a finish that would have tied the two at the top of the standings. But a caution with just three laps to go changed the complexion of the race.

Cain would restart as the leader, with Lautenbach and Wassenberg in the second row, and Theys and Arneson in the third. VanStraten would start inside the fourth row. Wassenberg took off on the high line as the green flag flew, racing to the outside of Cain for the lead.

Arneson stayed to the outside, needing to put at least one car between he and VanStraten to claim the title outright. On the final turn, he got a big run out of the corner, powering around both Cain and Lautenbach to second behind Wassenberg. The pass was worth two points, which proved to be his margin of victory in the title chase.

Wilson slipped past Dean Anhalt with an inside move on the fifth lap, then held off Tom Brumlic in the final laps to win his second Hobby Stock feature of the year. John Hill posted a solid third behind the lead twosome.

Jarred VanLaanen nipped Marcus Moede at the line for fourth. Chad Kaminski took home his first championship after qualifying for the feature, then added a little icing to the cake by placing sixth in the main.

Jason Cornelius dropped from the Sport 4 feature on the very first lap, but he had enough of a point margin to win the championship despite Behm’s feature win.

Behm was in command the entire way, with Ralph Liegeois out-gunning Brittney King for second.

The evening’s final event was the Walter Christensen Memorial Dash featuring the IMCA Stock Cars. Christensen, the father and longtime car owner and crew chief of Hobby Stock racer Chris Christensen, died last month.

Kroll used an outside move to sweep past Bouche and Jesse Colwell for the win, pocketing an extra $330 in the process; $150 for the win with an additional $30 for each lap that he led.

The final event of the season will be Friday and Saturday nights, September 18th and 19th. Seven divisions of racers will take to the clay for the 2009 edition of the Luxemburg Fall Classic presented by Tisler Salvage. The Speedway’s five regular divisions, the IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars, Northern Sport Mods and Hobby Stocks, along with the Sport 4s, will be joined by Street Stocks and Grand Nationals. A full show of qualifying heats and features will highlight Friday’s opener beginning at 6:30. Last chance qualifiers and the main events will be Saturday, with a 4:30 start time. (Luxemburg, WI – August 28, 2009) – Persistent showers arrived late into the heat races, forcing officials to cancel the race program Friday night at the Luxemburg Speedway in Luxemburg.

Luck ran out on the Speedway as the IMCA Northern Sport Mods took to the track for their third heat. Rain intensified at that point, and the track was lost.

With no points awarded due to the rain out, the standings will stay as they are heading into Championship night this Friday.

The closest contest is for the title in the IMCA Northern Sport Mods where Travis VanStraten leads Eric Arneson by a single point. Eugene Gregorich (-14), Johnny Whitman (-19) and Tracy Wassenberg (-23) are all still mathematically alive in the chase.

In the IMCA Modifieds, Brian Mullen will carry his ten point advantage over Jared Siefert into the final night. Shawn Kilgore is 15 back, with Benji LaCrosse 24 points behind the leader.

Jesse Colwell holds a solid 23 point margin on Troy Muench in the IMCA Stock Cars, with his brother Jamie 30 back.

Chad Kaminski is in command of the IMCA Hobby Stocks, with a 32 point bulge over Marcus Moede.

Jeff Behm trails Jason Cornelius by 24 in the battle for the Sport 4 crown, with Ralph Liegeois, Jr 26 back.

(Luxemburg, WI) August 21- Two Rivers’ Kyle Kudick fought off former track and national champion Benji
LaCrosse of Green Bay in the final laps to win the 25 lap IMCA modified feature at Luxemburg
Speedway Friday night.

122 cars were in the pits, including 24 IMCA modifieds, 24 stock cars, 22 northern sportmods,
22 street stocks, 15 hobby stocks and 25 sport fours.

Luxemburg’s Chris Derenne paced the opening three laps of the IMCA modified main
before dropping out with mechanical problems, handing the lead to Abrams’ Scooter
Boyea. Boyea’s lead was short lived as Kudick stormed past into the lead on
lap five. Kudick pulled out to a five car length lead by lap 6 when Dan Ratajczak
broke through traffic into second, and began chasing down Kudick.

A lap 7 yellow flew for an RM Van Pay spin. When racing resumed Kudick
maintained the lead with Ratajczak second and LaCrosse blasting into
third. Another yellow flew two laps later. On the restart points leader Brian
Mullen of Seymour looped his mount drawing an amber.

LaCrosse scooted into second on the restart and began pressuring Kudick for the lead.
LaCrosse tried both the high and low lines in the final circuits but Kudicks fended off
the challenges to collect his second feature win of the season. LaCrosse settled for second
at the pay widow, followed by Sean Jerovetz, Dan Ratajczak and Jared Siefert.

Luxemburg’s Pat Davister passed Luxemburg’s Tyler Smith for the lead on lap 8 and
battled Smith and Mike Conard for the victory in the 22 lap IMCA stock car feature,
his second of the year, including a clean sweep with his heat win.
Conard took second in his best run of the year, followed by Smith, Troy Muench
and Ben Kroll.

Hortonville’s Travis Van Straten passed Luxemburg’s Dave Davister with eighth laps remaining
to collect the 20 lap IMCA northern sportmod feature, his 12th on area ovals this year.

The race got off to a rough start when a six car pileup took placed on the opening lap.
Prior to the wreck 3rd place points driver Tracy Wassenberg of Shawano dropped out with
mechanical woes. Also involved in the wreck was points leader Eric Arneson of
Oconto Falls, who was able to rejoin the field at the tail.

When racing resumed Davister assumed the lead, with Van Straten carefully working
his way into second by lap 6. Van Straten caught up with Davister by lap 10 and drove
around him on lap 12 for the lead and eventual win. Davister hung on for second in
his best performance of the year. New Franken’s Brad Lautenbach took third.
Arneson recovered to finish fourth. Brandon Long rounded out the top five.

Green Bay’s Todd Everard won the 20 lap street stock feature.

The street stock feature was red flagged on lap 10 when Jesse LaCrosse of Little Suamico
clobbered the frontstretch wall. He was unhurt but his car sustained heavy damage.

When racing resumed Kewaunee’s Ed Anschutz surrendered the lead to
Everard. Everard stretched the lead and wound up claiming victory. Dave Hoerning,
Anschutz, Ryan Brandes and Geno Sternard rounded out the top five.

Points leader Chad Kaminski of Luxemburg padded that points lead with a win in the
18 lap IMCA hobby stock feature.

Abrams Jessi Ness won the 15 lap sport four feature.

Next Friday night August 28 Dorsch Ford Kia will sponsor the races beginning at 7 p.m.

(Luxemburg, WI) August 14- Green Bay’s Benji LaCrosse slipped past Frog Station’s Dan Ratajczak on lap 13 to take the lead and collect the 25 lap IMCA modified feature at Luxemburg Speedway Friday night.

A total of 115 cars checked in, including 22 IMCA modifieds, 29 stock cars, 21 northern sportmods, 21 hobby stocks and 22 sport fours.

The IMCA modified feature was only one lap old when Scooter Boyea and RM Van Pay spun in turn four, drawing an early amber. When racing resumed Ratajczak kept the lead and pulled away to a four car length lead over Jay Matthias by lap 10, when the second yellow flew for a Brian Joski spin.

When racing resumed LaCrosse charged from third past Matthias into second, and began pressuring Ratajczak. The former track and national champion ducked underneath Ratajczak to take the lead on lap 13. Boyea drew his second yellow of the race on lap 15, setting up a 10 lap dash to the finish.

On the restart LaCrosse pulled away to a comfortable margin and cruised to victory. Trailing at the checkers was Green Bay’s Jared Siefert, who charged through the pack from 13th to take second. Matthias hung on to third, followed by Shawn Kilgore of New Franken and Green Bay’s Eddie Muenster.

Green Bay’s John Heinz swept action in the IMCA stock cars, winning both his heat and fending off New Franken’s Ben Kroll and current points leader Jesse Colwell of Greenleaf in the waning laps to win the 22 lap IMCA stock car feature.

Kroll came up a few feet short at the line and wound up second. Colwell took third. New Franken’s Troy Muench finished fourth. Luxemburg’s Pat Davister sliced through the field from 15th to finish fifth.

Kewaunee’s Eugene Gregorich blasted past Brad Theys of Kewaunee on lap six and fought off Hortonville’s Travis Van Straten to win his second, 20 lap IMCA northern sportmod feature. Van Straten hung on for second, followed by Oconto’s Travis Cain, Shawano’s Tracy Wassenberg and De Pere’s Johnny Whitman.

Luxemburg’s Scott Boulanger passed Mishicot’s Dean Anhalt on lap five and went on to win the 18 lap IMCA hobby stock feature. Luxemburg’s Wes Salentine came home second, followed by points leader Chad Kaminski, Dean Anhalt and Robbie Waechter.

Green Bay’s Wesley Simeons won his first ever 15 lap sport four feature.

Next Friday night, August 21 will be Luxemburg Implement night at the races. The night will also mark the return of the street stocks for their second appearance of the season.
