The sport's pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather will defend his WBC welterweight crown against interim titlist Robert Guerrero at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 4, 2013. Mayweather (43-0, 26 knockouts) announced this week that he would make the 29-year-old southpaw Guerrero (31-1-1, 18 KOs) his first foe in beginning a new television deal with pay-per-view provider Showtime and its parent network.

Mayweather remained undefeated beating Miguel Cotto by 12-round unanimous decision in a WBA Super World light middleweight title fight last May 5, 2012. Mayweather fought more offensively than usual but he also took more punches usual evident by his bloody nose in round six and his bruised face post fight. Despite being 35 years old and fighting infrequently Mayweather remains unbeatable. His speed and accuracy remain intact.

Guerrero earned the Mayweather title shot by defeating the naturally bigger former world welterweight champion Andre Berto by decision in Ontario, knocking Berto down in each of the first two rounds. Guerrero said matching Mayweather with a “fast southpaw who has power in both of his hands” could spawn an upset.

Pacquiao vs Marquez 4 sell 13,000 tickets

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 03 Oct 2012 04:36:00 +0000

The Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez Fourth encounter is projected to out-gross the first three fights. On opening day of the Pacquiao vs Marquez tickets sale, over 13,000 tickets to the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino event were sold and that only less than 3,000 were left. To put a closure as to who really won the last two bouts, El Dinamita has vowed to knock out the 8-division world champion whom he has never beaten.

Pacquiao vs Marquez Tickets went on sale over the weekend and Top Rank big boss Bob Arum was ecstatic when 13,000 of the 16,800 were devoured on opening day and the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas will be filled to capacity by fight night. A choice seat on Row A sold at $1,200 is being peddled at $9,345, while the lowest-priced seat – pegged at a mere $200 – is being sold at $400.

Other tickets are priced at $900, $600 and $400 and their prices on the internet have more than doubled or tripled owing to the high demand in anticipation of a classic match between the old-time archrivals. Pacquiao and Marquez have battled each other three times stretching back to their split draw in 2004 and while Pacquiao won the next two bouts in the thinnest of margins, many believe that Marquez should have been awarded the decision.

Mike Koncz, the Canadian adviser of Pacquiao and who joined the two fighters during the whirlwind three-city press tour last month, believes “there won’t be need for a fifth fight.” “This will be the final chapter,” said Koncz, who saw the eagerness of the two fighters to put an end to their storied rivalry.

Manny Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Mon, 04 Jun 2012 23:59:00 +0000

Manny Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley, is a Boxing Welterweight super fight. The bout will be held on June 9, 2012, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. He will defend his World Boxing Organization welterweight title against the undefeated Bradley. There's no doubt about Pacquiao vs Bradley fight to be very interesting because Bradley is known to be an aggressive fighter and has an undefeated record of (28-0, 12KO), while Pacquiao has (54-3-2, 38KO).

Many look at this as a hard test for Bradley, to fight an 8 division champion. If Bradley was observed to be dominant in his latest victories, Pacquiao was observed to have had showing a lesser performance in his recent fight against Juan Manuel Marquez last year. Pacquiao, being the more experienced and more aggressive between the two, may have more tricks as his weapons in the fight, but Bradley will not be an easy target with his youth and determination to fight no matter how hard it gets.

Both Fighters are working hard for thier WBO welterweight championship bout and none of us can judge whos gonna win but time is precious so we have to wait for the right time for Pacquiao and Bradley fight. Many boxing analists suggests that if pacquia wins by knockout against undefeated tim Bradley "desert strom" then his professional boxing career may come to an end or probably near to end.

Mayweather vs Cotto: Ring Kings on May 5

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 11 Apr 2012 16:56:00 +0000

One of the most anticipated fights this year in Las Vegas where Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto will clash inside the ring this coming May 5, 2012 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This is for Miguel Cotto's WBA Junior Middleweight Title. The Mayweather vs Cotto fight scheduled for May 5th offers a great stylistic matchup between two boxers with tons of talent.

Miguel Cotto, a three-division world champion in the sport of boxing, recently revealed that his game plan against five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr is pressure fighting.

Mayweather has been a favorite in all of his fights, and just when you think he might finally lose, he ends up winning. Floyd’s ability to adapt to the style of his opponents. His main advantages over the Puerto Rican boxing icon are his ability to throw his power punches accurately and his footwork. Floyd’s hand speed is one of the best in the sport and no one has figure out how to defeat him.

This is why many people have decided to never bet against Mayweather. But who knows, Cotto could be the man to beat him! With the odds so heavily stacked against Cotto, it can be discouraging, however not for Cotto. He’s been through too much. He has had more ups and downs that many people in the sport of boxing and he rises above everything to become champion.

Cotto still have some flashes on his punches that the world have to see on May 5. He may not be that fast anymore but he can still throw quality punches that can subdue his opponent. Cotto is bigger than Mayweather and that he has a chance to make things happen for him. Cotto vs Mayweather will be another classic boxing match in history of sports of boxing.

Cotto vs Margarito 2 on December 3

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Fri, 18 Nov 2011 00:47:00 +0000

Miguel Cotto vs Antonio Margarito 2 will collide again on December 3rd at Madison Square in New York. I think plenty of assume Margarito is big and strong for Cotto, but in my point of view I am most concerned about Margarito eye will let him execute. They say he is fine, & doctors have clear him to fight, but severe eye injuries for boxers are not good at all. It is not going to take a world class jab artist to mess up Margarito, probably, & Miguel Cotto is no chump.

My gut feeling is Steward will have him going right at it, because whatever else about Margarito aside, he is triple hard & his stamina is excellent. In case you let him continue, he'll be there at the finish of the fight. And as far as the trainer switch for Cotto goes, I think Margarito, now with Robert Garcia, also has a improved trainer than they had the first time around, though the superiority of Steward compared to Garcia is possibly better than Garcia.

Does anyone else think this is a drop-or-plunge fight from Top Rank? HBO also install another hit series 24/7. The premiere of Cotto vs Margarito 24/7 episode is on November 19. Margarito has no forthcoming left in the sport, but a win here could prolong his huge fight authority (what is left of it) a tiny longer. & while Cotto is still a brilliant, he is categorically on the descending slope, both in the ring & as an attraction. At this point, his upside is also limited, & he is definitely peaked both as a fighter & an attraction.

This fight ought to do well with lesser expectations than it had in 2008, when it did well for a pay-per-view not headed by of the tremendous duper money men (at the time, Oscar & Floyd), but I must wonder if Top Rank sees this as a fight where promotionally, they have nothing to lose, & they might as well do it, than having a burning desire to put it on, if that makes sense. If you intend to watch Cotto vs Margarito 2 fight then Watch Cotto vs Margarito Live stream on December 3rd. So, don't try to miss it!

Pacquiao-Marquez III another classic match

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Fri, 09 Sep 2011 05:29:00 +0000

Top Rank boss is confident that the Pacquiao vs Marquez Trilogy bout between Filipino boxing icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and his Mexican nemesis, Juan Manuel Marquez, will be another classic. During a press conference in New York, streamed live through TopRank.com, Arum explained that Pacquiao has not yet solved the puzzle that is Marquez. Arum noted Pacquiao and Marquez have become better fighters since they last met in 2008 and insisted the fight, the third between the two, stands to become one of the best, if not the best, in the history of boxing. Arum stressed Pacquiao is no longer a one-dimensional fighter by adding a dreadful right to his powerful left, in the same vein that "Juan Manuel has changed his style, by sitting down on his punches now more than he did in the past.

“Juan Manuel presents a puzzle for Manny Pacquiao, that the truth is, he has not solved in 24 rounds,” Arum said.

In their first meeting in 2004, Pacquiao and Marquez fought to a draw, while their 2008 rematch saw the Filipino champion come away with a split decision victory.

“The puzzle is that in our opinion, Juan Manuel Marquez is the greatest counter-puncher in boxing today, and probably the greatest counter-puncher in the last 30 years,” Arum added.

He said that Marquez’s counter-punching was the “perfect answer” to Pacquiao’s aggressive style.

But Arum warned that Pacquiao is a different fighter now.

“When he fought Juan Manuel the first two times, he was essentially a southpaw who relied completely on his left hand. He is now clearly a 2-handed fighter,” he said. “He’s also improved his skills, his technique. He’s a much smarter fighter now than he was then.”

“I am looking forward to this fight to be another classic,” Arum said.

Excited to watch Mayweather-Ortiz bout

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Mon, 29 Aug 2011 13:26:00 +0000

Floyd "Pretty Boy" Mayweather is one of the best pound for pound boxer of the moment and one of the best in history, will clash on 17 September with the young WBC welterweight champion Victor "Vicious" Ortiz, as Ortiz belt will be at stake. The headliner of the evening event has been titled 'Star Power: Floyd Mayweather vs Victor Ortiz'. If Ortiz want to overcome Mayweather, like what he fought Castillo, he has good chances of making a good fight, yes, he must be prepared for 15 or 18 rounds of sparring in order form not to run out of gas early. Courage and determination Ortiz has revealed through his boxing career. When it comes to speed I think Floyd has a better advantage over Victor, Mayweather’s fast reflexes and foot speed will help him win the fight.

Can Victor Ortiz beat down Floyd Mayweather on their fight

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Mon, 15 Aug 2011 06:01:00 +0000

Mayweather vs Ortiz will face each other on September 17, 2011 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This is for the title belt of Victor Ortiz. Mayweather has had it relatively easy with wins over a smaller, slower Juan Manuel Marquez in 2009, and then a shot 38-year-old Shane Mosley last year in May. It’s going to be much different against Ortiz, as he’s on his way up to the top of the hill and isn’t on the downward slide the way that Mosley and Marquez were when they took on Mayweather.

Ortiz has got the power advantage in this fight, as well as an advantage in work rate. Ortiz showed in his last fight against Andre Berto that he’s capable of getting in close and throwing a lot of shots. Whether Ortiz can do the same to Mayweather is going to be the test here. Mayweather is hard to get near, because he tends to slide around and pick his opponents apart on the way in.

However, if Ortiz is able to establish some inside ground on Mayweather, we could see Ortiz really work Mayweather over with short powerful punches to the head and body. Even Mayweather’s excellent shoulder rolls have their limitations against a fighter that is unloading mass artillery shots the way that Ortiz was against Berto in his last fight. If you are all excited to Watch Mayweather vs Ortiz then stay tuned on this blog for more updates.

Who Will Win Between Mayweather and Ortiz?

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 10 Aug 2011 07:31:00 +0000

Just barely more than a month now the Floyd Mayweather vs Victor Ortiz is one of the biggest boxing fights and events of the year. Taking place on September 17, 2011, from Las Vegas. Mayweather-Ortiz is an exciting, intriguing bout in the welterweight division. It features one of the sport's best fighters and biggest names in a long awaited return, and he's facing a powerful, young champion intent on keeping up his winning ways. I guess almost everyone here got their own prediction about the possible result of the Mayweather vs. Ortiz world welterweight championship fight and as part of gathering data about the opinions of the people about the fight result.

Mayweather, for his part, is coming off a 16 month absence from the ring, in which he has remained in the headlines due to all kinds of drama and legal troubles. But he's focused on this fight and he's looking to make a statement to the world. Ortiz will need to find a way to land one of his big punches, potentially hoping that Mayweather is a bit rusty or his reflexes are a bit slower with age and time. Mayweather will look to counter punch and take advantage of ample opportunities to hit the aggressive, less experienced and less talented fighter. Now what will be the appearance of the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight well I think Ortiz will really strong punches to Mayweather and it will be an exciting exchange of counter punches. His opponent got a ferocious southpaw that might deliver a blazing end for him. I am really excited now.
