those would be my first choices ... but I have learn a new word today
Brutalism - Architectural style of the 1950s and 1960s characterised by
simple, block-like forms and raw concrete construction.
Originates from the French word for "raw"

Its officially heatwave week here in Europe
33.4C today in the UK marks the hottest day in June for 41 years
while I celebrate by having ice cream & Pimms for dinner, my neighbours have had their 3rd BBQ in a week
how to dress in this days?
COTTON is the best friend for your body in the hot summer days
not only does it look chic, I am a firm believer in the 'less is more' look
it's breathable too, and while the hot weather makes us feel lazy
we can save brain power in deciding what to wear, just reach for that white cotton dress

they look designer, COTTON looks expensive

{Travel} Kyoto in 3 days

This was my fourth time in Japan, and second time in Kyoto
I have been lucky to visit Japan in different seasons over the 4 times and honestly
this time of the year (last week of May) has been the best
its not cold like in March or Nov, and just before the humid raining season of Jul/Aug
it was perfect summer weather (19C to 26C)

this time round there was a lot more tourist than 4 years ago, perhaps due to the season
also being the second time in Kyoto, I tried to search for more hidden gems
here are my recommendations

1 & 2 Riverside of Arashiyama, next to the Bamboo Forest,
the riverside walk is very peaceful during early morning
3 Kibune, a train ride away from central Kyoto, where you can dine on bamboo platforms on top of mountain stream, companied by lovely forest shades and sound of water
4 Tofuku-ji, very popular spot for watching beautiful red maple leaves in Autumn, during summer it is a quiet place to enjoy the serene surroundings
5 Honen-in temple, close to Ginkaku but with less than 1/50 of the visitors

Summer Dresses - Day to Evening

I was in Amsterdam last three days, luckily weather was a beautiful 27C to 33C

in the usual tourist crowd I saw at least 10 brides to be in the city

a firm reminder that the wedding season is very much with us

I dont know about you but I for one have so many dresses for attending weddings which I find hard to wear again post the event

think I found the solution, go for a less dressy but more elegant dress with a simpler, less tailored cut

then dress up with heels and accessories

this way you can easily dress down with casual shoes, a jacket or even a hoodie!

just like these streetstyle girls

I can't believe its end of July already, where did the time go?

With more than 6 months of the year gone, how is that New Year Resolution coming along for you? I think I am on good progress, on the travel side I have taken at least a holiday a month, have hosted a few girls get-togethers and more brunch/afternoon tea in the diary, been going to the spa for massages and skin treatments quite regularly and in the last 6 weeks really focused on the exercise side (I recommend Jillian Michaels workouts!) and is noticing a difference in my fitness levels.

So that leaves two things remaining, reading more books, as I have only read 2 so far this year there is definitely lots of catching up to do! Also, eating more healthy which I have been doing at work (that means mostly salads at lunch) but now I want to cook more and using healthy whole foods. The internet is a wonderful place with full of ideas on the healthy eating, whole foods front. I am currently obsessed with a few Berlin based blogs. Food Stories being my favourite with their gorgeous photos (helps with the incentive to cook), clear instructions and wonder recipes. They have many non-sweet recipes up too but I have a major sweet tooth which is reflected in my images choices!

I don't know about you, but I am particularly sensitive to the cold air, early Spring days are the period where I can dress dramatically differently one day to the next (all depends on if the sun is out or not!)

I also feel guilty hiding behind the thick winter coats since the flowers are clearly signalling spring is well underway. I have tried to pull together 3 different looks, should cover you in the most "chilles" of Spring days to when the sun is shining so warm and brightly you want to go bare legs...

Look 1- for days you think winter is back

wear your warm long coat but put away the skinny jeans tucked into long boots, instead try wide leg trousers and vintage white trainers

Look 2 - for days where its semi-cloudy but warm

dig out that perfect spring light coat or wool jacket, wear a thin sweater underneath

pair with slighted cropped trousers & smart slippers

Look 3 - for days where the sun is beaming above

this is the first chance in the year to go bare legs, but wear ankle boots not sandals,

wear your long sweater dress, leather wrap skirt optional for that pop of colour,

don't forget to take a warm wrap as when the sun sets it will get colder

I am totally in love with this new florist a friend recommended, they delivery by bike & attribute profit to charitable organisations, on top of that,

their bouquets are out-of-this-world beautiful & refreshing

you can tell that the owner put real thoughts and creativity into creating these lovely bouquets

say good bye to the boring roses or tulips only bouquets!

A little late but a Happy 2015 to all dear readers
Have you all started your New Year's Resolutions?
In case you still need ideas, here is my list...

It all evolves around the central concept of "Bettering Myself & Be Happy"

1. Host more girls get-togethers, whether thats in the form of afternoon teas or the occasional glass of Champagne, bottom line - Friends are important, spend more time with them

2. Read more inspirational books (and watch less entertainment TV) - Reading will help you to expand on your understanding of everything

3. Eat and cook more healthily - Good health should be the top priory

4. Travel more - See more of what the world has to offer

5. Spend more hours at the Spa - Pampering & de-stress are beneficial to both the body and the soul

it took a good few minutes to decide whether this post should sit under Interior Decor or Food

not because the food was not worthy of its own mention

(quite the opposite, they were small plates of utter deliciousness)

but because the decor & atmosphere was just so unique

the long leather banquette, the vintage glass lamp shades, the shabby chic walls

not to mention the embossed metal panels on the ceiling

if vintage or originality is your cup of tea

then Polpetto will be your little place of utopia

service was friendly, attentive but easy going

back to the food

everything I tried was just so tasty, full of favours yet not overpowering

the right balance between hearty yet not too heavy

to sum up in 3 words

delicious, delightful & unpretentious

hence permanently marked as one of my favourite spots in the London dining scene

I am obsessed with this girl

her style is clean, simple and oozes of modern chic that looks so effortless

Winter can be a hard season to dress for,

not to mention the added difficulty of what to pack for a holiday

but Olivia makes it look so easy on her recent trip to the Scottish Highlands,

who knew oversized coats teamed up with a pair of Nike trainers can look so elegant?

I see something I am amazed by and I share it

it pains me that I won't be visiting Seoul soon to try out these clouds on your ice cream cone
