Video: Lupe Fiasco announces Mixtape Release Date

November 5th 2009 - Ted Constant Convocation Center - Norfolk, VA

After doing a freestyle, Lupe announces that he'll drop a new mixtape (Fahrenheit 1/15 Part VI) on November 25th (as previously reported). He also says that he has been playin' with names for it but hasn't picked one yet...

Besides that, (it's not in the video but) Lupe also said that there's a video for Solar Midnite on the way, yup!

Sidenote: This was Lupe's last concert this year and there (probably) aren't going to be any shows until March.

Lupe Fiasco to breathe life into Baatin in Animated Film

When news broke this past August that founding Slum Village member Baatin had passed away, the hip-hop community took the Detroit MC’s death hard. Such was the case for Miami-based rapper/producer/singer Jack Splash.

Baatin was a very close friend and mentor of him and had such a great impact on Jack’s life that he used the fallen MC as inspiration for the main character - which will be voiced by Lupe Fiasco - in his animated film scheduled to come out next year. -via XXL

According to Riva (who is at the ODU show), Lu just announced

the release date for Fahrenheit 1/15 part VI

Shout out to Riva!!

Note: It's technically not the title, its just more of a confirmation that he is continuing the Fahrenheit 1/15th series, I'm sure that the title for the tape will be out in a few days...

Also, the release of Fahrenheit 1/15 part VI has NO EFFECT on the release of Lasers... but then again, as I've said before... Don't expect to see Lasers drop on Dec 15th.

Lupe Fiasco surprises Method Man & Redman on Stage

Snoop Dogg's super smokey 'Wonderland High' tour stopped through Chicago last night, and also featured on the bill was the always entertaining Method Man and Redman, who brought their high energy act to the Congress Theater.

After Meth crowd surfed for the fifth time and Reggie Noble jumped off a 20 foot tall speaker, they winded their set down with a Chicago instrumental....which just so happened to be Lupe's "Kick Push".

Now, as Meth and Red were saying their goodbye's with Soundtrakk's soundtrack playing in the background, a shadowy figure emerged from behind the curtains and stormed the DJ booth. I was in the balcony so I couldn't make out exactly who it was - but once he skipped the record and snatched the mic from the DJ, we all knew who was in the house. And seriously, Meth and Red were as stunned and suprised as the crowd. -Andrew

- Snoop Dogg, Method Man & Redman performed at the Congress Theater in Chicago yesterday. Lupe was in the building, too and Snoop brought him out on stage during his set to perform Superstar. From what I've heard, Lupe also came out on stage during Method Man and Redman's set. - Review/Link

- Lil Wayne mentioned Lupe on his track "Oh Let's Do It" which can be found on his latest mixtape No Ceilings. Here's the line: "I'm sharp as Blu-ray, I fuck her today, then she gotta skate, young Lupe"...*shrug*

- Jay-Z mentioned Lupe in a recent interview on Canadian TV - Video/Link

- Chuck Anderson, who designed the cover of Lupe's Food & Liquor album, designed the default wallpaper & login screen of Windows 7 - Link

Lupe and other artists will perform sections from “The People Speak,” which is a documentary that discusses famous dissidents in American history.

As everyone knows, I was at Lu's Congress Theater Halloween show the other night and GoWhereHipHop's own Max G was there with me, here is his review:

The Remember to Smile show was, in a word: inspiring. Lupe Fiasco developed a series of video installments to create a storyline throughout the 2+ hour show.

The installments, titled Lyric, Life, Death, (minus Love), Faith, Politics, Fame, Progress,Chicago, and Lasers, captured Lupe's life to this point in a powerful, cinematic fashion. Every video included Lupe's viewpoint on each domineering topic followed by music from his discography of mixtapes and albums to bring it to life....

A new Lupe mixtape is one of the things we've all been waiting for, ain't it?
Based on Lu's latest Twitter Update it seems like the wait could be over soon!

For a long time it looked like Lupe wouldn't do another mixtape, but things have changed. There's a new fire burning in him and if you've heard his latest Tracks/Freestyles, you've probably already noticed that he's going in, harder than he ever did before...the man is on a mission, The Cool is heatin' up!

All you other rappers out there should be very afraid, and for your own good, you shouldn't even think about dropping anything around the time Lupe drops his mixtape...and yo!, you MTV peeps should already prepare one of those fiery pictures for your list next year...#1 by default!
