The most popular productivity techniques that survived the 20th century, are still efficient in the 21st century: no surprise, because people are still human beings. I would name the following productivity boosting methods that have proved to be efficient:

GTD (Getting Things Done)

Inbox zero

Urgent-Important matrix

Eisenhower matrix

The Getting Things Done method was elaborated by David Allen. To put it simple, it has two main rules: write everything you have to do on a piece of paper to empty your head. Then pick a number of tasks and then do it one by one, until it’s done. This way, you just do things from the list, one by one, without thinking upon ‘what to do next’, your head is free of side thinking about life and all, and you’re just working. Suddenly, you realize, that you have made a long way forward in your project. It is crucial for GTD to prioritize tasks from the list.

Inbox zero speaks for itself: instead of storing emails in your inbox, searching each time what to start with, what you have answered and what is waiting for being completed, you just read and delete insignificant emails, and for significant emails you either read and answer, or read and send it to your task list. After this, you can apply to the tasks other productivity methods, such as GTD or Urgent-Important matrix.

Urgent-Important method and Eisenhower matrix have a lot in common. Historically, Urgent-Important matrix appeared as a more detailed and simplified Eisenhower matrix method interpreted by Stephen Covey. This is probably the most efficient method to prioritize your tasks, judging from their importance and urgency. Not all of the urgent tasks are important, most of important tasks are not urgent. Eisenhower matrix suggests that you prioritize your tasks visually.

I use all of the 4 methods for my Outlook tasks productivity with the help of TaskCracker, a simple and quick Outlook add-in. It takes my Outlook tasks and presents them in a form of a view where I prioritize them by urgency and importance, and then apply the GTD method to the task achievement. I drag and drop tasks in the grids of the TaskCracker view in a way that I can see my workload at a glance and quickly estimate how much time I need to complete my project.

Getting links is not always easy. Recently, guest blogging for links has emerged as a trend. It is believed to have long living effectiveness. Guest blogging is proved to be a good method of attracting traffic to a website, increasing social media follow-ups and obtaining links of good quality. If you want to flow with the present trend of guest blogging, you must know certain tips.

Take look at the section and try to make the most use of your link building strategy.

1. Go through the blogs pitched by you

A common mistake people make in guest blogging is they send numerous mails without acquiring any knowledge regarding the blogs which they pitch. Can you imagine the number of blogs the blog owners receive every day from people like you? Will take an email seriously, if it is not concerned with your blog? Certainly not.

Hence, it is better to read some posts prior drafting the pitch letter. You should take a quick look at the “about” section to know the owner’s name. A blog with a personalized message is more appealing.

2.       Conduct a research

As it is important to know about the blog you are pitching to, similarly it is also important to conduct certain research work before pitching. The research will reveal that you have made the right selection of sites relevant to your niche. Also it is important to ensure that the blog you chose has some value for your website. Your site should gain significance through its referral visits and backlink juice.

How can I find the relevant sites to my niche? Is there any easy way to know it? Here are some tips to help you get the significant link for your site.

Have SEOQuake add-on for Chrome and Firefox to view the Page Rank or PR of a particular website.

Check the traffic level of the site through Complete.com.

Browse through the social networking websites, especially their blog page since majority of the blogs use social media for pushing their posts. This brings lots of traffic.

Do the research in this way and you will have the real results.

3. Customize pitch letter for each blog

Don’t make the same pitch letter for all the blogs, each blog will have different pitch letter. For instance, your letter should be addressed to the site owner and also give reference of some articles related to that blog. You can also add your own opinion regarding some article you have read on that website. You can do everything that you want to make it distinct from rest of your email letters.

4. Give reference of your blog in the pitch letter

If you possess your own blog for which you regularly write some quality contents, you should definitely give a link of that blog in the pitch letter. In case your blog is a good one, its reference can surely convince your blog owner and he might give you a good chance. So, you can give this idea a try.

Author’s Bio: Lisa Allen is a freelance guest blogger. According to her, blogging cannot be done properly when you don’t have the right Microsoft Word support. She keeps her Microsoft updated all the time.

Websites are integral part of businesses. So it is important that we present an organized and quality website to the audience. The article aims at rectifying some common mistakes found in web designing.

Websites- we know them and we need them. There is no survival without it. Everything is happening at a global level and so businesses need to attract the audiences from all around the world. For that very reason one needs to have a website that will represent their company on the internet. Our impression is created based on what is seen by our audience on our website.

Most people try to add a lot of things on their websites so that it would look fancy but it backfires. A website has become an integral part of companies and lot of attention is paid to it. Sometimes we want to make it so attractive that we end up creating a mess. Sometimes people try to dish out too much information and sometimes to less. Many at times people forget the content for design and sometimes vica versa. Anyone can build a website but it is important to build a website that will keep our target audience interested. Compromising on the quality of the website has a negative effect on our business. So let’s avoid some mistakes we make and build a website that will feed the audience with what he/she wants to see or hear.

Do not clutter your website with too much information. Only relevant and much needed information should be allowed on the website. Sometimes when we visit a website, on the homepage itself we are blasted with too much information. But what a visitor needs is a crisp, clean and an organized website. What colors we choose is also important. For example, a hospital cannot use colors that are bright; they need to use subtle colors. There should also not be a color clash or else it would look like a disaster. A good navigation is important in any website. Ensure there is proper navigation so that visitors can locate their desired information. Sometime we see that the fonts are too small or too big. Proper legible fonts will help the site’s attractiveness.

These elements help in portraying a good, proper and quality website. When we avoid such mistakes, it will help us to create a proper user-friendly website. So avoiding such mistakes will give you a better presentable website.

An effective project manager helps his project team to go through all the stages of development and reach full potential of the whole team and all its members.

An effective project manager helps his project team to go through all the stages of development and reach full potential of the whole team and all its members. He should be able to predict the onset of the next stage of development and to lead the team forward. On successful completion of the project, the feeling of job satisfaction creates a desire for further joint activities.

The important role in the success of a project plays project manager’s ability to organize a work of the entire project team as well as his own work. Simply speaking, a project manager who is able to organize his own piece of work within a project correctly, will most likely cope successfully with the management of the whole team. And the opposite is also true: the better are project manager’s skills in managing the entire project team, the better he will cope with the organization of his own pieces of work within this or that project. And such software as Comindware task tracking software will greatly facilitate the process of planning of work within a project and will as well help to track the performance of tasks by the members of the project team.

In order to answer the question that has been raised in the title of the article, it is vital to look more attentively at distinguishing between such concepts as “leader” and “manager”. “Leader” commonly means a person which is able to influence others, and “leadership” is a process with the help of which one person influences another person or people. And a “manager” is a kind of “formal leader” which is responsible for the whole project and the results of team work. He gives orders and poses the tasks, doing which a project team achieves the results. So, it is obvious that the influence of a “leader” on the team is stronger than the influence of a “manager”, or just “formal leader”. But nevertheless, a person who is just a “formal leader”, or a “manager” of this or that project, should also realize the responsibility for the impact that his organizational skills have on the team. And the additional programs for issue tracking within a project can be equally useful for both leaders and just formal managers. For more information about this kind of software click here please.

The better a project manager will organize the work of a project team – the better will be general results.

Keynote — A speech that outlines the central message of a particular event.

Opening — This type of speech that sets the tone for an event and welcomes the participants.

Motivational — A speech that inspires the audience and often directs them to take a specific course of action.

Vision — A speech that lays out a path for progress for a company or organization.

Closing — A speech that sums up an event and might also point the future.

In addition to making sure that the speech fits the occasion, writers must also adhere to certain time-tested practices that great speechwriters use to hold an audience’s attention.

Here are 10 crucial points to remember for writing an effective executive speech.

Brevity — The speech should be no longer than you need to make your point. Long speeches tend to bore the listener. Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address was only 272 words long, yet remains one of the most famous speeches in history.

Structure — Every speech should have an introduction, a body where the main points are made, and a conclusion that summarizes the important points.

Write Conversationally — Speeches that use long words or complex language rarely make a strong impact on a listener. Use language the audience would hear in everyday conversation.

Use Imagery — Language that paints a picture in the listener’s mind is more likely to be remembered. Strong physical imagery is generally more effective than abstract language.

Highlighting — Highlight the main point of the talk by using your most memorable language on this portion of the speech.

Famous passages — Use memorable passages or quotes from other speeches or works of literature with which the audience is familiar. This will help you hold their attention.

Strong Conclusion — Do not simply thank the audience at the end of the speech. Try to come up with a clever and concise way to phrase your main point.

Revise — You should never be satisfied with a first draft. Look the speech over and revise it until you can no longer find any ways to make it better.

Read Aloud — Reading the speech out loud gives you an indication of how the speech will sound to an audience and helps you avoid language that sounds too abstract or complex.

Humor — Audiences love humor, so try to include a humorous anecdote or phrase, where appropriate.

If you follow these tips and put forth your best effort, the end result should be a speech that listeners will respond to positively.

Making money on a blog is a hard thing to do, however it is easy and cheap to set up. This is probably why you have so many people to compete with. In essence, setting up a money-making blog is like setting up a shop for free. The set up may be easy, but once you have your shop, how do you get people to come in? This conundrum is a similar one that your will experience when trying to make a money making blog. Nevertheless, here are the tools to “set up your shop” so to speak.

Adsense

This is a good thing to have if you want to make a little bit of money with your blog. The pay is not very good, but it is a good thing to have until you are pulling very big viewer numbers.

Interesting content

Traffic is always good if you want to make some real money with your blog. In that case it is a good idea to add in a lot of interesting content. It is a good idea to attract a wide range of people who have different interests, different IQ’s and different interests. You can make your blog more of a niche blog, but it will not win you a massive range of viewers or a large amount of varied traffic. Your aim is to get lots of traffic from different people and lots of traffic from repeat viewers. If you keep posting content on boring issues or keep covering the same issues then you are not going to win many viewers.

Link bait

Link bait is articles that attract links. There are hundreds of reasons why a person may link to you. The best type of link bait will attract links to your blogs from websites and blogs that are on a similar subject. These are the best types of links, because they will get you ranked higher on the search engines. There are plenty of ways to create link bait, and if you can do it consistently, you will find that you gain a lot of traffic in both the short and long term. Traffic is what you most require if you want to make money on your blogs.

Your own adverts

Do not overlook putting your own adverts into your blog. If you have a website or an eBay shop then you should put your own adverts and links into your website so that people visit your website/eBay shop and buy something. It is a good way to make money indirectly. Your blog will filter and send traffic to places where you can make money.

A good affiliate program

Some affiliate programs pay very well if you prove that you can gain enough traffic each week and if you prove that your website follows all their rules (rules such as not copying, viruses, law breaking, etc). If you sign up for an affiant program with your website then you will be able to gain all the extra money that theses good programs bring in.

A good PageRank

Google is the search engine that most people use. The Google algorithm will index each page of your website and give it a rank. This rank determines how far up the search engine results your website will go. If your blog has a good page rank then it will climb up the search engine results pages. This will result in your website and blog getting more traffic.

Sell your blog space

If your blog has a lot of traffic then you will be the envy of every internet blog user on the net. If you have a lot of traffic that comes to your blog, then why not sell “guest posts.” This is where people are allowed to post something on your blog that has their name on it, and has a link back to their website. This is a nice way for them to get more traffic to their site, because Google likes links from popular websites. Google rewards the guest poster with a higher page rank (or at least, the guest poster will have another element, which will bring them closer to getting a higher PageRank).

Is the Internet Your New M.D.?

It’s no secret that the Internet holds a wealth of information. The problem is this: Not all of the information contained on the Internet is helpful nor is it all factual. While there is nothing altogether wrong with utilizing the web as a source of information, you have to take what you read with a grain of salt. Here’s how to use the Internet the right way when it comes to your health:

1.Looking Up Symptoms

If you are experiencing symptoms that are unfamiliar to you, there’s nothing wrong with looking up your symptoms online. You should know, however, that many symptoms can be attributed to a variety of illnesses. For instance, a headache may be a symptom of Multiple Sclerosis, but it’s also a symptom of the flu. A scratchy throat may mean that you have strep, but it could also mean that you have a cold; don’t scare yourself into believing that you have an incurable disease.

2.Finding Out How to Treat Common Ailments

The Internet can be a great source of information when it comes to learning how to treat common ailments or even treat a small wound. Do you feed a cold and starve the flu, or is it the other way around? Does chicken soup really cure all that ails you or is it an old wives tale? Should you use heat or ice on a sore back? These are all things that you can safely find on the Internet and just one of the things that makes the Internet hugely helpful. If, however, you decide to utilize the web to find out what to do if you think you’re having a heart attack, you’ve probably gone too far.

3.As a Starting Point

Researching the ‘net can give you an excellent starting point when it comes to creating a list of questions for your doctor. Eight in ten people use the Internet as their go-to source for medical information. This is before there’s even a thought of calling a physician. While you shouldn’t completely rely on the medical information that you gather, you can use that information to construct a list of questions that you want to ask your doctor. When you think of questions, make sure to write them down; your anxiety at the doctor’s office may cause you to forget what you wanted to say.

4.Sharing Experiences

If you are coping with a tragedy, an illness or traumatic injury, talking to others who have gone through the same thing can be a source of support. While you should freely share your experiences, be careful in how closely you compare yourself to others. Remember that each individual case is different and someone else’s outcome may not be the same as your own. You should also remember that what worked for one person may not work for you, but it could be a topic you want to broach with your doctor.

5.Learning About Medication

The Internet can be a reliable source of information when it comes to the medication that you’ve been prescribed. You can easily find information on the manufacturer’s websites about possible drug interactions and side effects. If you forgot to ask your doctor or pharmacist an important question, the Internet can be an invaluable source of information.

The Internet is a tool that needs to be used wisely. While you can safely find medical information on the web, you need to do so while maintaining a bit of skepticism. Though much of the information that you can find will be factual, just as much will be bogus. No matter what you research, make sure that you don’t use the Internet in the place of good, old-fashioned medical advice.

Michelle Winters writes for www.edrugstore.md where you can see Edrugstore.md Doctor Videos.

Gaming Made Easy with Automated Kiosks

Forget for a moment the countless possible uses for customized retail kiosks. Forget all of the wonderfully helpful information and products you have instant access to. Think in terms of entertainment. The gaming potential with kiosks is immense. In many ways, gaming kiosks already enjoy widespread use—they’re called slot machines. But why should you have to go to a casino to play one? Automated kiosks make gaming easy—in bars, in malls, airports and other locations. Their convenience, cost effectiveness, portability and virtually unlimited applicability make kiosks the business entertainment solution.

Tap in to the Self-Service Revolution

It could be anywhere, from the grocery store to the post office, but people love self service. Buying stamps, renting DVDs, exchanging coins for cash, making grocery purchases, adding minutes to a cell phone—whatever! More than ever, consumers love to do it themselves. It’s empowering. It makes a person feel like they can get in and get out without a hitch. Use an ATM lately? Then you appreciate self service, too.

In many ways, retail kiosks are nothing new. It’s just the technology that has changed. LCD touchscreen interfaces, USB ports and other smart features give kiosks a futuristic look and feel. Modern retail kiosks represent the next step in the self-service revolution: easy to use, multifunctional, efficient, and for the business owner, incredibly cost effective.

Gaming Frontiers

Where gaming is concerned, it’s not just the actual playing of games that gives kiosks their amazing utility, although that’s a huge part of it. Automated kiosks can be used for loyalty programs, business promotions, special offers and various other incentives meant to nurture and reward favored customers.

Casinos have found a number of ways to take advantage of the cost-cutting convenience and easy operation of kiosks. They are used to dispense winnings or, for members with guest cards, to add and remove credits. This saves the concern money in two ways: one, the number of staff necessary to work a casino is cut down, which reduces labor costs. Two, customers find it’s easier than ever to game, so they’re more likely to play, which raises the revenue for the house.

Instant Gratification

Here’s another way businesses have jumped on the kiosk bandwagon: by creating self-service exchange units where gamers can easily trade in one title for store credit. It’s instant, it’s gratifying and it keeps people coming in. This is a successful strategy at GameStop as well as Best Buy. Gamers return used games then immediately receive a voucher good for store credit. It’s a genius marketing tool that creates profits both for the businesses as well as kiosk manufacturers.

Your concern may not be at the scale of a Best Buy, but you can still utilize the power of kiosks to keep your customers happy and coming back. Instant gratification is a powerful motivator when it comes to sales. To a customer, there is nothing like an immediate return, and with gaming, this is a must. So let a kiosk transform your entertainment business, whether it be a sports booking unit, a video game or even a multifunctional unit that allows customers to play, purchase items off a menu and peruse gift shop products, all from the same spot!

Haley Brown writes for business blogs where you can learn more about kiosks for sale and how to make a custom kiosks.

So the technology has been perfected and it has been available for several years, and yet consumer uptake has not been as fast as you would expect for a James Bond kind of technology. And yet there are more advantages to using this system than just the Hollywood factor.

The most important reason why the PC-based biometric time clock represents a revolutionary technology for businesses is that it would put an immediate stop to buddy punching. The fact that the system relies on fingerprints, finger vein, palm vein or iris scans means that there is no way for someone who has not yet come to work to be punched in. And because the system is already connected to an online system, it communicates directly to the payroll system, so there is guaranteed savings in salary payments of 2-4%. Most biometric time clock providers have already developed software so there should not be any problem implementing the system. And once it is set in place it can be operated fairly easily. Its intuitive interface can generate all the reports a management team would need.

However the best thing about the biometric time clock is that it actually costs less than your average card or token version. That is mainly because it does not use any cards so there is no need for a special printer or specialized personnel taking photos of workers. Even more beneficial, is that the change is salutary for the employees as well. They no longer need to worry about misplacing their ID card, about having it with them all the time, or about waiting for one when they move to a new workplace. A simple print scan will welcome any newcomer on board and from then on he or she can be assigned his or her exact level of access with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Still, the fact that the system works based on a fingerprint scan is what has many people worried. Seeing how only people with a criminal record have their fingerprints taken, there are those who argue that using this system is just another form of control, and that their fingerprints could all too easily reach the police even if they have done nothing wrong. However, the designers of the system point to the fact that the scanner only picks out four to five characteristics of the print and only stores those characteristics, not the print itself. In actuality it would slow the system down to scan and match the entire print every time, so it does make a lot of sense that the system, as it exists today, is not a threat to individual privacy.

While millions of excited adults stand patiently in line to make their iPad purchases, social media strategists and pay per click moguls are lining up to serve smaller, yet equivocally purposeful advertisements which could potentially appeal to various business, music, and social genres. Yes, the age of the tablet has finally decided to stick around, and SEM professionals are lining up to provide the content society has purported as ‘necessary’. With every great gold rush, however, comes perfection in delivering said strategies across the tablet realm at correct times of the day (since it’s highly doubtful you’ll use your iPad while fielding sales calls, unless data is needed). Here, we decipher best practices when running PPC ads across this multi-headed electronic hydra so you’ll catch users being mobile in the morning while their laptop in the evening is still being tapped into for news updates and sports ‘shorts’.

iPad Habits During Work Hours

Human beings still have their morning newspaper and coffee routine, except now these periodicals are being read through iPad devices. Businessmen are checking emails, synchronizing calendars and perhaps catching the missed scores from last night. Early morning search engine interactivity is minimal, at best, since our minds aren’t trying to delve into complexities before we leave for work. This trend does change, however, as we being to traverse towards our daily grind, since search volumes increase with our valiant returns to work. According to a comScore study, optimal iPad usage commences around 8 a.m. This pattern still grows even yet, until dying off, albeit temporarily, as workers zip up their cases and head towards their desktop PCs. The tableted monster remains dormant until after work, or 4 p.m., according to the same study, as evening commuters begin to pull their iPads out to finalize emails, check on other news, and communicate via social media. The searching grows and reaches its critical mass around 10 p.m. before finally curtailing until morning hours erupt again.
By utilizing these patterns of iPad usage, we can understand many simplistic patterns established by creatures of habit who have went from newspaper and dry toast to iPads and Frappuccino’s. This information includes:

Business pros tend to be more active during the morning and mid-evening.

The comScore study tells us Canadians use their iPads or tablets the heaviest during business hours, with Singapore being a close second.

Apple iOS leads the operating system surge.

Midnight is relatively common—in EST— for individuals to be unified around the world in using iPad devices since the next time zone East is technically in Europe.

The information contained within the comScore study, along with simplistic human understanding, allows the search engine marketing professional to salivate with time-sensitive advertisements and age-targeted pitches at vital times during the day. Now that we’ve established exactly how, when and why these tablets are being accessed, we’ll take an exacting, holistic and potentially lucrative approach in preparing our PPC ads for iPad devices to show how maximum ROI is achieved during optimal time periods. Once you’ve made a pretty chart and documented this information, putting the ads live becomes easy.

Formulating PPC Strategy for iPads

(Photo credit: Search Influence)

Since roughly one year ago this September, the realm of tablet PPC has doubled their overall market share of click-thru rates on paid advertisements, a trend which doesn’t seem to be slowing anytime soon. Since this trend will only increase, it’s about time you perfected the pay per click strategy which correlates with new devices. Overall conversion rates are coming across at all-time highs and will only continue to grow, making their way up near epic proportions. To grow our potential reach, let’s examine what we already know will work across the pay per click world:

Having key pieces of demographical data, as found in such whitepapers as comScore provides, will allow us to run time-sensitive advertisements with direct focus on businesses during heavy times of usage;

Market share of clicks is swinging towards Bing and is growing every week; therefore, PPC campaigns on mobile platforms like iPads should begin here,

Campaigns set to begin during specific time periods have historically lowered the CPC rates since more exact reaches are defined.

In order to perpetuate our PPC advertisements across tableted devices like iPads, we simply take into account the data from above statements, specify in our campaigns the perfect long tail, negative and primary keywords, while adjusting the time to match our tap-hungry professionals. In the case of reaching college users, we adjust timeframes.

Suggested Strategies To Follow

To maximize out mobile ad spend, we’ll need to follow certain strategies as we would with laptop and desktop devices. Taking into account our desire for increased ROI and reach, let’s take these following tips with us as we prepare our iPad PPC assault:

Increasing bid amounts during morning and evening times while dropping our bids during the work day will allow our overall marketing budget to level itself out;

Target ages which historically work during those times—18 to 65 should suffice;

Adjust your website content to include linkage to an iPad app you’re promoting since the link will automatically open up iTunes through their iOS browser;

Specify, in clearly presented text highlighted to attract attention, that your website is iPad friendly;

Adjust your entire site so every link works on the tablet; having ineffectively reached pages means potential loss of directives;

Make sure that your site can process payments in mobile-friendly fashion;

When bidding on keywords and devices, turn off desktop devices during peak mobile usage times, and restart when these devices begin prevalent usage, normally after 9 a.m.  You can keep other mobile devices such as Blackberry or Kindle on to test conversions on those platforms as well;

Track conversions, clicks and download the data to compare next to desktop devices to see where and when time/bid/keyword adjustments need to be made.

The actual campaigning is nothing more than adjusting devices and studying current case studies relevant to mobile usage by age, time and niche, while segmenting which devices will receive your advertisement, and when. It could take tweaking, A/B testing or the likes; it’s best to perfect your strategy now before the trend jumps back to some other device.

Chomp Up All Devices

The study performed by comScore revealed Xbox, Nook, Kindle Fire and other digital devices are also gaining ground in the market share of pay per click revenues. While your campaign concentration will be solely on hot devices, you need to carefully read your Google Analytics data to see what other devices have accessed your content, when, and for how long; from here, other PPC marketing campaigns can be centered around the devices that are receiving the highest amount of digital device traffic. As we head into the 2013 marketing year, it may interest your marketing team to avoid hoarding the desktop devices as more and more innovations will come to pass which allow iPads, Nooks, Fires and other mobile devices to equivocally access mobile internet, the platform where your advertisement can either sink or swim, depending solely on the research you put forth and campaign tweaking your marketing team performed.
