Merchandiser -NC-Mooresville

Under the direction of the Merchandising Director, the Merchandiser is responsible for managing the assigned product groups on a daily basis to ensure each item performs according to the financial goals set by senior management. Works closely with Logistics, Marketing, Planogramming, and other support groups on a regular basis to optimize the sales initiative for the assigned product and further enhance customer satisfaction. This position is a developmental step for a Merchandise Manager position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Manages assigned product groups or assortments according to the financial goals and objectives set by senior management
•Monitors each product group on a regular basis to ensure sales opportunities are maximized as directed by the Merchandising Director
•Identifies and drives new opportunities to improve product performance for each category
Prepares financial analysis of each product group and understands the impact of the results

Reports to the Merchandising Director the state of the category as directed utilizing financial analysis and any necessary documentation
•
Conducts Product Line Reviews as directed by the Merchandising Director
•
Reviews industry research to remain current on market trends
•
Under the direction of the Merchandising Director, negotiates with vendors as needed to secure the best opportunities for Lowe’s. Assumes negotiation responsibility once Merchandise Director determines proficiency
•
Serves as the main Merchandising contact for the Implementation of new Merchandising processes and systems, communicating relevant information concerning the process/change through the appropriate channels to all members of the Merchandising team, Logistics team, vendors, store personnel and other applicable support groups.
•
Provide business area product/promotion direction to Marketing for use in Marketing/Advertising vehicles.
•
Approve the accuracy of all strategic and technical information (including but not limited to item selection, item description, price direction, patch/location information, promotion direction, template direction, and photography/assets). For all respective division product and/or promotion placement in Marketing/Advertising vehicles prior to set deadlines.
•
Attends Proof Room sessions each with merchandising team and review blueprints and planograms.
•
Ensures that all vendor and product documentation is complete and on file with required departments within the company
•
Decision maker and point of contact if Merchandising Manager / Merchandising Director are unavailable
•
Consistently understands the product offering of all competitors in the market and the potential impact to Lowe’s
•
Regularly visits Lowe’s stores and those of the competitors to better understand the needs of the product categories
•
Completes 2 weekday Lowe’s store visits per quarter (8 days per year), and 1 three-day market visit per year as required by the Lowe’s travel policy

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
•Participate in the planning of product placement within the stores as defined by Store Planning
•Maintain a working knowledge of any new or updated policies, procedures and/or standard practices pertaining to merchandising
•Effectively communicate any merchandising information to support teams outside merchandising
•Provide guidance and support to all team members that support the product category
•Maintain a professional and productive relationship with vendors to ensure all product opportunities are identified and responded to effectively
•Maintain a professional and productive relationship with all supporting Lowe’s team members to ensure product requirements are managed effectively
Assist Merchandising Manager or Merchandising Director in researching the market place for new and innovative product ideas
•Effectively communicate with Lowe’s store employees to ensure the needs of the customers are met
•Ensure merchandising team members adhere to the standards set forth in the Lowe’s Co. Statement of Business Ethics.
•Ensure that vendors and suppliers understand the requirement to comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the conduct of their business with Lowe's Companies, Inc.

Required Qualifications:
Four year degree or equivalent work experience
•Three to four years experience in one or more of the following areas: purchasing, buying, merchandising, brand management, marketing or related field
•Excellent oral and written skills
•Negotiation skills
•Superior analytical skills, particularly in the area of financial and strategic analysis
•Ability to interface effectively with management at all levels of the organization
•Excellent time management/organizational skills
•Ability to handle multiple task simultaneously
•Computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Two years experience in retail product merchandising
•Knowledge of Lowe’s merchandising systems
•High degree of familiarity with the retail industry as a whole – preferably in the Home Improvement sector

Position Description

This position will be assigned to a home store and asked to travel between stores throughout their assigned district to execute product service projects/resets and when in home store will assist the Product Service Associates (PSAs) in maintaining store shelf standards and executing product service tasks in their assigned districts. This position is responsible for the execution of in-store service resets and projects as defined by the Product Service Management Team (PSM) and the District Product Service Specialist. This will include day to day in-bay product service rotations, down-stocking, fronting, facing and detailing product and assisting in reset completion through issue resolution, and store level tasks based on service expectations, sales trends and store needs.
