LBP Velez Community Pantry

LBP Velez Branch Head, AVP Josephine B. Mercadal committed to give each of our Posting/Escort Guards, Drivers and Messenger/Janitor a box of Face Masks per month out from her own pocket. Last July 9, 2021, her promise to them was materialized and it was so overwhelming seeing them how happy they were upon receiving it.

Out from that simple gesture, she shared an idea to the whole branch of "why not creating our own Community Pantry for them?". Without any hesitations, the team agreed to help them in our own special way and it is so timely since our City is under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

So, saan ba talaga aabot ang 500 pesos mo? With us in Velez Branch, we don't go that far just to reach the needy, coz we already have them within our reach. And so it happened last July 19, 2021, we were able to share our blessings like Rice, Vegetables, Eggs, Toiletries, Canned Goods, Noodles and other goods for 45 pax including some other Contract of Service Workers within the building's attached units.

Indeed, we are blessed by God in order for us to be a blessing to many people especially in this time of pandemic. But how can we live a life free from any Chronic Illnesses? Well, we need to live a healthy lifestyle of course. But sadly, even if how careful we are on what we are eating, sleeping on the right time, doing some exercises, we cannot deny the fact that sometimes we can inherit those illnesses through bloodlines. So, let us always keep our family’s heart healthy, our #PanataNgPamilya as we appreciate and safeguard the gift of health especially this Holiday Season so that we can enjoy the Holidays with our love ones.

A month ago, I was a bit scared since I was experiencing shortness of breath, I cannot have considered it as COVID since I didn’t experience any flu-like symptoms or what, but instead, I wanted to visit my Cardiologist for a check-up. Why Cardio? Because we have it in our bloodline, all of my grandfather’s siblings died due to cardiac arrest. Sometimes, I would entertain the fact that maybe I am already experiencing hypertension. But again, I didn’t bother to visit the hospital because of these invisible enemies that we are facing-COVID 19 virus.

Years ago, I was already introduced about telemedicine. During this pandemic, this innovation of doctors to be always connected with their patients even if they are at home is one of the best way to contain the virus. It’s the new normal thing. In strong support of the government's ICT infrastructure initiative

Riding on the momentum of receiving clearance from various local government units (LGUs) to build cell sites across the country, Globe continues to make significant headway in its tower builds through partnerships with several tower companies (towercos).

Globe Chief Finance Officer and Chief Risk Officer Rizza Maniego-Eala says that the company’s partnerships with Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. (AIC), ISOC-edotco, Transcend Towers Infrastructure (Philippines), CREI Philippines (CREI) and Frontier Towers & Associates (FTA) have advanced to active acquisition and build phases.

“The partnerships with towercos will greatly complement the company’s target in expanding its capacity and coverage throughout the country. These projects will be a catalyst for change in the industry as telcos are empowered to deploy beyond their individual capabilities in a cost efficient manner,” Maniego-Eala explains.

Globe finalized a pole lease agreement with AIC, a subsidiary of the Aboitiz Group, and is seen to increase its footprint by about 200 sites in more parts of Cebu, Davao, and Subic.

In addition, 300 macro sites will be completed for deployment in North Luzon and South Luzon while 400 more sites will be assigned within the year to cover Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The count is projected to increase expansively once the pilot sites of these projects are launched.

First to deliver a tower for activation is ISOC-edotco, a collaboration between ISOC Infrastructure and edotco, a Malaysian based Tower Company (TowerCo), with more currently underway and are expected to be completed shortly.

Globe has committed to be the anchor tenant in a build-to-suit agreement with Transcend Towers Infrastructure (Philippines), a subsidiary of American Tower Corporation, as well as in tower lease agreements with ISOC-edotco, CREI and FTA.

Digital financial services leader PayMaya has extended its financial inclusion mission into the retail investing space with the government's upcoming Retail Treasury Bonds offering.

Partnering with Bonds.Ph, a new online investment platform powered by the Philippine Digital Asset Exchange (PDAX), it will now allow small individual investors to avail of the government's next Retail Treasury Bond (RTB) offering using their PayMaya accounts.

DSWD Taps PayMaya for Distribution of AICS Assistance

In continuation of the efforts of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to improve its delivery of public service, the agency has partnered with e-wallet application, PayMaya, to provide cashless distribution of financial aid to clients of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

Under the AICS program, qualified indigent, marginalized, poor, or disadvantaged individuals or families may avail of any medical, educational, burial, or transportation assistance as immediate aid or safety net to help them recover from any crisis situation.

Through the partnership, clients availing of AICS can easily encash their cash aid from any of the 30,000 Smart Padala branches nationwide through their PayMaya accounts. They may also use the funds in their accounts to pay for bills, groceries, or other daily essentials, purchase airtime load, or send money to other PayMaya users through the PayMaya app.

Last month, DSWD also tapped PayMaya as one of the featured payment methods in the ReliefAgad app. Beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) may choose to receive their cash aid through their respective PayMaya accounts.

The Department will continue to find innovative, safer, and convenient ways to improve its cash disbursement mechanisms to provide immediate assistance to Filipinos during the public health crisis.

Jollibee Foods Corporation and PayMaya Pioneer Conversational Commerce with ‘cashless’ Ordering Chatbot

Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) along with all of its food and restaurant brands in the country has begun piloting an interactive mobile ordering system via chatbot, with a seamless payment experience powered by PayMaya.

Customers in select areas can now use their credit, debit, or prepaid cards as well as their PayMaya e-wallet accounts to pay for their favorite food items and meals via the

Facebook Messenger channels of Jollibee, Burger King, Chowking, Mang Inasal, and Red Ribbon -- which are all currently running on beta version. This will soon be available in the Facebook messenger of Greenwich as well.

All they need to do is type “#order” and send this to the Facebook chatbot of their favorite JFC restaurant, select the meal they’d like to order, pay by selecting their preferred cashless payment option, and wait for their food to be delivered in their homes.

As an added treat, customers can get up to 100% cashback when they pay using their PayMaya registered mobile number upon ordering via chatbot with a minimum spend of P500.

“As we implement more stringent safety measures in this 'new normal', the availability of PayMaya’s cashless payments solutions helps ensure that both our customers and frontliner workers are protected, while at the same time giving them a more joyful experience when they order their favorite food from any of our brands," said Jollibee Global Brand CMO, JFC Philippines Country Business Group and concurrent Jollibee PH Marketing Head Francis Flores.

Offering cashless payment options via the Facebook chatbot is just the next step in the partnership between PayMaya and JFC. Creating a PAYMAYA Account to Receive SSS Wage Subsidy

With the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon and other provinces in Visayas and Mindanao still in place, many employees and workers have had their livelihoods affected, particularly those working in industries and businesses that were forced to temporarily suspend operations.

Thankfully, employees and workers affected can see if they qualify for the national government’s Small Business Wage Subsidy (SBWS) program through the Social Security System (SSS) or apply for other loans and have the funds disbursed safely and conveniently to their PayMaya account. The application period for this subsidy program has been extended until May 8, 2020.

PayMaya has partnered with SSS to be the only e-wallet that can receive SBWS funds from the government, allowing even those without a bank account to conveniently receive the subsidy by simply signing up for a PayMaya account using their mobile devices.

All you have to do is make sure to provide your PayMaya mobile number to your employer, who will then enroll your PayMaya account to be linked to SSS once they receive access to the SBWS application portal.

Easily receive your wage subsidy via PayMaya

To get started, simply follow these steps to register for a PayMaya account:

1) Download the PayMaya app on your iOS or Android phone

2) Register for an account using your Mobile Number, Name, and Email Address

3) Enter the Verification Code that will be sent to the Mobile Number you registered with

Likewise, ensure that the information in your upgrade application form is the same as the one reflected in your ID.
