The MC6000Mk2 is Denon DJ’s next generation, flagship professional DJ controller and digital mixer. Created to be the definitive tool for contemporary club and mobile DJ’s, the slim-line, table-top steel chassis unit combines a 4 channel/8 source real-time matrix operational digital mixer with a 24-bit, class-leading digital and analog audio interface. This Mark 2 incarnation operates out of the box with the bundled Serato DJ Intro (upgradable to Serato DJ) and is fully MIDI compliant to work with other software solutions via supplied or created mappings.

The MC6000Mk2 enables dual-deck functionality, opening up the creative possibilities of 4 deck mixing, with the unit’s top panel featuring all important transport, pitch, EQ, loop, hot-cue/sample, navigation and FX controls-ergonomically positioned to ensure optimal, error free live performance. DJ’s can now also take advantage of the world renowned video mixing features of the optional Serato Video plug-in, allowing them to programme, mix, add transition FX and scratch video just as they would with audio.

Operated as a fully functional DJ software controller or as a stand-alone digital mixer, the MC6000MK2 accommodates a multitude of connectivity options to suit a DJ’s preferred workflow. The logical, illuminated control interface gives DJ’s the confidence that all faders, dials and buttons are exactly where they need to be - freeing them to be totally focused on their creative performance. The unit’s top panel ensures maximum ease and efficiency when controlling Serato Intro, allowing access of such ‘on-trend’ DJ performance modes as ‘Roll’, ‘Sensor’ and ‘Slip’ Instant screen view preferences like Serato’s ‘Panel’, ‘View’, ‘Area’ and ‘List’ can also be selected with individual buttons and in addition, with the MK2 units, now four, independent deck layer keys, fast accurate deck/track selection is guaranteed.

For recording and playback, the MC6000MK2 features a Line 1/2 Thru to PC Mode, for connection to both Mac and PC hardware. Additional control features are added to this new and improved unit, bringing Beats Parameter knob (dedicated for controlling beat attributes), FX Tap Button (to add BPM data), FX Mode Change and now 8 Assign keys for fluid and comprehensive effects control.

The MC6000MK2 also offers dual balanced mic inputs (with independent echo FX and EQ). Uncompromising professional balanced and non-balanced audio outs ensure source sound quality is world class, whether the DJ is playing a live radio gig, small house-party or a large festival stage. The Elektron Octatrack Dynamic Performance Sampler is intuitive, powerful yet portable hardware designed to deliver flexible sampling, loop manipulation, effects processing and pattern sequencing for producers, remixers, live performances, DJs and more. The Octatrack reads samples from a compact flash card or USB 2.0 device, and features up to 80MB of internal RAM. There are 4 audio inputs for sampling from external audio devices and instruments.

The Octatrack's powerful engine is devised of 4 software "Machines" (Flex, Static, Thru & Neighbour Machines). Easily sync loops and samples to the sequencer's tempo, create swinging grooves, apply micro-timings, add real-time effects to grooves and more. The Octatrack is well suited for live performances, allowing for lengthy samples to be streamed directly from a compact flash card, while allowing for real-time pitch and tempo control.

The Step Sequencer features 8 recording tracks, 16 banks per project, 256 patterns per project, 8 arrangements per project, 4 parts per bank and 16 scenes per part. There are plenty of internal effects that include 12/24dB multi mode filter, 2-band parametric EQ, 2 - 10 stage phaser, flanger, delay, echo and much more. Audio signals from external devices may be routed through the Octatrack's effects engine. In addition Elektron includes a 2GB flash card loaded with a sample library courtesy of Loopmasters.

Octatrack OS 1.25 is a software download for all Octatrack owners that includes three new effects - a stereo image shaping Spatializer, a Spring Reverb, and a smooth and wide Dark Reverb.

Why go for fewer mixing channels when you could add extra ones? Rane, Rane, Rane, love this brand. I first fell in love with its products when I saw Alberton-Live music production tutorials videos. The fact that on some of their products (i.e. mixers) feature less complicated knops which most people who use them rarely use those extra features does it for me. FlexFx Loop with external analog loop and USB Insert loop

The FlexFX architecture in the MP25 is more powerful than typical effect insert solutions. The architecture includes the FlexFX Bus, an auxiliary bus routed to the FlexFX Loop which includes two independent effects inserts. Any combination of PGM 1-4 and Mic 1-2 may be routed to the FlexFX Bus. Any combination of external analog and USB effects may be applied within the FlexFX Loop.

Ultra low latency core audio and asio drivers

Rane’s ultra low latency, multi-client ASIO and Core Audio drivers set the standard for USB streaming devices. These drivers are fast and reliable, and are designed for professionals with demanding needs.

Rane ASIO and Core Audio drivers allow use with multiple third-party software applications that support Core Audio or ASIO. I get so fascinated about the professionalism being put together at major concerts and festivals out there. The quality of hardware’s being used and the crystal clear melodic sounds coming out from the speakers, brilliant stuff. I always wondered as to what kinds of equipments (i.e. mixers etc) were used on that particular show/event? Well, one’s curiosity has finally paid off. Allen & Heath iLive-176/S, this are just some of the Pro hardware equipments being used on those +50.000 concert shows. This week I decided to take my cruise ship to check what Allen & Heath has in store for us. Without much delay, let’s hit the road guys. Enjoy this week’s publication.

Control Surface Live Sound Mixing Interface For The iDR-64 DSP Mix Engine

The iLive 176 Surface is the primary live sound mixing user interface for the iDR-64 DSP mix engine. It connects to the Mix-Rack using CAT5 cables and is effectively part of the distributed audio and control networks. It is supplied in a three-part, nose-cone, and touring grade flight case on lockable castors.

All the control and system information needed by the live engineer is available at the surface. There is a choice of surface size available offering 28, 36, or 44 faders. With 4 layers per bank of faders you get the choice of no fewer than 112, 144 or 176 control strips freely assignable as input channels, mix masters, DCA groups and MIDI controllers. Even the smallest footprint iLive-112 surface has enough capability to handle a fully loaded 64 channel mix.

Connections: The rear of the iLive surface has a built-in card frame for loading up to 4 I/O modules, a combination of up to 32 inputs and outputs, for local audio at the surface. The internal PSU module may be supplemented with the rack mount iPS10 supply for redundant backup.

Connections includes local monitor XLR outputs, 1/4" and 3.5mm headphone sockets, XLRs for an analogue PAFL monitor input and talkback connections when Ether Sound is not fitted, front and rear USB ports for memory archiving, and an external VGA screen output. On Tuesday, Apple unveiling not one but two models of iPhone 6 (6.9mm deep), making it the slimmest handset Apple has ever made and its bigger brother, which will be called the iPhone 6 Plus, is (2mm thicker). The company also launch the long-awaited Apple Watch, a wrist-mounted smart device that works in conjunction with the phone. How interesting is that? Unfortunately, the Apple Watch won’t be out until next year. Let’s take a closer look at the iPhone 6 at glance.

Apple is sure a big brand which consumers on the ground get so excited whenever the Company launches a new product on the market. Sources say iPhone 6’s demand is expected to be high and Apple is believed to be gearing up for a record production run of 70 to 80 million units by the end of the year.

Here are some interesting specs we know so far about the iPhone 6:

· It will come in two screen sizes, 4.7 inches for the iPhone 6 and 5.5 inches for the iPhone 6 Plus.

· The frame of the iPhone 6 will be 6.9mm thick, and the iPhone 6 Plus 7.1mm thick.

· The design models, will be rounded sides replacing the sharp-edged, flat-sided iPhone 5S.

· The iPhone 6 screen resolution will be 1,334x750 pixels, which Apple describes as Retina HD; the iPhone 6 Plus will feature a full HD resolution of 1,920x1,080 pixels.

· The screen will be protected by ion-strengthened glass.

· The iPhone 6 has improved camera specs, with an eight megapixel sensor, a new focusing system and slow-motion video at 240 frames per second. The iPhone 6 Plus also has optical image stabilisation. You can even take “burst selfies,” with the iPhone 6 able to take up to 10 photos per second.

· The larger screen on the Plus model will allow multi-tasking, allowing the user to see an email inbox and message at the same time, for example. The app dock can also be moved to the side of the screen, instead of the bottom.

· The handsets will come with a Health app that will integrate with third party fitness apps.

· Included in there will be a built-in barometer.

· Storage space. You have a choice ranging from a 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. Both models (iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus) come in gold, silver and space gray.

· With 802.11ac Wi-Fi, its Wi-Fi speeds are up to three times faster than those of the iPhone 5s. As for LTE, The iPhone 6 has a faster LTE than the iPhone 5s, and it can make use of more frequency ranges than other iPhones.

As we know, mobile money is the future and Apple wants a slice of the pie. The iPhone 6 is equipped with Apple Pay and a Near Field Communication (NFC) antenna that allows you to tap your phone against a sensor to make payments. Credit cards from participating companies-Visa, Mastercard and American Express-can be linked to your phone’s Passbook.

The system will work in 220,000 locations around the world including, naturally, Apple Stores.

· As far as security is concerned, your card information is encrypted, and each transaction has a one-time payment number. So if you lose your phone, you can simply cancel its payments as opposed to the card itself. Apple also emphasized that neither the retailer nor Apple will know what you purchased, where you purchased it, or how much you paid. This makes it even more interesting.

Sources say the iPhone will be on sale Sept.19 but only available in the U.S, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan. Other sales/distributions to other countries will follow thereafter.

The Turbo Series is not only stylish in appearance, but also employs serious engineering to achieve the best acoustic performance. The Bass-reflex acoustic design combines maximum efficiency and optimal bass extension. The MDF material ensures proper damping of vibrations from the drivers. All this is done behind a sophisticated industrial design utilising modern fashion elements.

In order to achieve this perfect combination of sound quality and appearance, the Turbo series enclosures were designed as a non-regular hexagon. After careful calculation and experiment, the company found that the non-regular hexagonal structure is most effective in minimising standing waves inside the enclosure. High quality MDF were chosen for the enclosure to not only damp out unwanted resonances, but to ensure a solid and inert structure to mount their drivers to. All internal surfaces were lined with blended wool to further damp the structure of the cabinet.
Using high quality pure silk for the tweeters, the patented dome shape perfectly articulates the high frequencies out past 20 kHz. It is designed to have a low resonance (for a low crossover point) but also high power handling.

Using patented technology from the Aviation industry, the PP carbon fibre/ceramic composite cone for the woofer provides a perfect balance between strength and weight. This lightweight yet strong cone ensures an extremely fast transient response from bass notes all the way through to the midrange.
The custom made amplifier design uses only professional grade multi layer PC boards (compared with the single sided PC boards used in other speakers). This ensures that the circuitry and components have better reliability and better performance, which in the end means higher fidelity sound.

User-friendly Control Layout

The PLX-1000 provides a user friendly layout familiar to top DJs of the past and present, providing quick tempo control capability on the right side of the player, start/stop button on the left side, and a high-torque platter with a lighted speed guide.

High-Torque Direct Drive System

The direct drive mechanism of the PLX-1000 provides high-torque resulting in stable rotation and exceptional control. The turntable can achieve a starting torque of at least 4.5kg/cm and can reach its fixed rotation speed within 0.3 seconds (at 33 1/3 rpm).

Sound Quality Design

To create an extremely stable player and prevent vibration, Pioneer utilized a heavy-mass zinc die-cast chassis for the top section of the player, reinforced with a bottom section made of 8-mm thick resin. The base of the unit was further enforced with 9-mm thick vibration-damping material that results in extremely stable playback. The tone arm also received great attention in build quality and design to maximize performance, using rubber insulation to minimize howling effects during audio playback.

The RCA jacks feature gold-plated machine-cut parts for low impedance for excellent sound quality output.

Tempo Control

The player provides a range of tempo adjustments from ±8% and ±16% to ±50%, giving users a range of pitch speeds. A “RESET” button for tempo sits next to the tempo slider for instant ±0% fixed rotation speed.

Detachable Power and Audio Cables

The PLX-1000 is built with a detachable power and audio cable connection for increased convenience, especially at times when the unit is being moved around. Users are also able to interchange cables to further customize the sound quality.

Philosophy of Balance

Propeller-head is well known for its software, but Balance was this company’s very first hardware product. Since this was their first piece of hardware, the company made sure that they make a statement and establish themselves as a premium hardware manufacturer. To do this, they hired some of the best engineering and industrial design consultants in the world to help them realize their high expectations. Every aspect of music making was scrutinized, from user work-flows, to product’s shape, sound quality, and even the feel of the knobs and surface finish of the product.

Here are some notable technical details:

Stepped gain knobs-When you turn Balance knobs on, there are 21 separate “steps.” This type of stepped knob is commonly found in the high-end equipment used by mastering engineers and is really handy when you need precise recall of settings. For example, if you open an old session to re-record a part, you can set your gain levels to exactly what you had in the previous session. This ensures perfect consistency in your sound. Stepped knobs are more expensive than standard (smooth) ones.

Quality preamplifier's-One of the most important parts of an audio interface is its preamplifier's. Preamplifier's boost faint signals from microphones, instruments (guitars, basses), and line-level sources (synthesizers, drum machines, etc) so that they can be converted into digital audio and sent to your computer to be recorded.

For Balance, the company choose to use preamplifier's from highly respected manufacturer Texas Instruments (TI). TI makes many classes of preamplifier chips and they opted to use their premium “TLC” line. This high-performance, low-noise chips are used in situations where high precision is a must (for example, professional test and measurement equipment).

The signal path extremely “clean” since it is easy to add “color” to your signals (using Rack Extensions, for example) but it is not possible to remove it. This way, you can decide to leave your recordings clean and crystal clear or full of color and harmonic richness.

Balance in a Nutshell-While Balance looks very futuristic and employs the latest advancements in technology, in many ways, it’s actually a very old-school product: It sounds great because the company hired world class engineers, used high quality parts, and did not cut any corners to save costs.

The original analog circuitry

The MS-20 mini painstakingly replicates the original MS-20. A development team led by the original engineers themselves worked to recreate the original circuitry, and when it was necessary to substitute a part, these engineers made the decisions based on careful listening, in order to reproduce the original sound faithfully.

The sound of the MS-20 mini has a somewhat bright and extreme quality to it because its sound is that of an original MS-20 in mint condition at the time it went on sale, before any of the components aged.

2VCO / 2VCF / 2VCA / 2EG / 1LFO structure

The MS-20 mini reproduces the distinctive synthesis of the MS-20; two oscillators with ring modulation, and envelope generators with hold and delay. The VCA maintains the basic design of the original, but it’s been modified to produce less noise than the original.

Self-oscillating high-pass/low-pass filters with distinctive distortion

One of the greatest characteristics of the MS-20 was its powerful filters, which provided resonance on both the high-pass and the low-pass. Maximizing the resonance would cause the filter to self-oscillate like an oscillator, producing a distinctive and dramatic tonal change that was acclaimed as inimitable, and was later used on the monotron and monotribe.

The filter circuit was changed mid-way through the production life-cycle of the MS-20; the MS-20 mini uses the earlier filter, which was felt to be superior due to its more radical sound.

External signal processor (ESP) for processing an external signal

The ESP carries on the experimental spirit of MS-20; it allows you to use the pitch or volume of an external audio source to control the synthesizer. For example you can input an electric guitar and use the MS-20 mini as a guitar synthesizer, or input a mic and use it as a vocal synthesizer.

Extremely flexible patching system

The patching system provided to the right of the panel lets you create complex sounds by plugging-in cables to change the connections between the various units. The possibilities are limited only by the user's imagination; different combinations of the modulation input/output and trigger, sample and hold, and noise generator can produce an incredible variety of sounds. By patching according to the MS-20 flow chart that’s printed on the panel, even the beginner can start taking advantage of these possibilities right away.

86% of the original size

MS-20’s design concept started by borrowing from the vertical layout found on larger and more expensive modular synths of its time, and then creating a more portable, inexpensive, and easier to use version.

To make it even more approachable, the MS-20 mini has been shrunk to 86% of the size of the original MS-20. In spite of its smaller size, meticulous care has been taken to accurately reproduce the knob design and the printing. The patch cables have been changed from 1/4" phone plugs to mini-plugs, and the newly-designed keyboard is also 86% of the original size.

Replicates every detail of the original

KORG's effort remained faithful to the original not limited to the unit itself. Even the package that contains the unit replicates the original as far as possible.
Also included are the original MS-20 owner's manual and settings chart, explaining how to create sounds. Now you can experience the excitement of the MS20, just like it was during its original release in 1978.

I really love this piece of a hardware. Its packed with everything a music producer could ever want as part of their studio hardware.

MIDI IN connector and USB connector

The MS-20 mini provides a MIDI IN jack for receiving note messages, and a USB-MIDI connector that can transmit and receive note messages. You can even connect the MS20 mini to your computer and play it from a sequencer.

Unique Fender design and style

Fender guitars of the late '50s and early '60s borrowed a lot from the automobile designs of the times, which meant lots of chrome and lines that were anything but "traditional." The Jaguar used the same offset-waist body shape as the Jazzmaster™ (first introduced in about 1958) and added even more chrome across the face of the instrument, including a plethora of switch and control plates, as well as a separate bridge and "floating" vibrato system.

Short Scale Neck

You'll love the shorter (and somewhat mellower) 24-inch scale of the Fender Johnny Marr Jaguar^®, as opposed to the standard 25-1/2-inch scale made popular by the Stratocaster^®. The rosewood fingerboard features large pearloid block inlays and is very comfortable to play and vintage-style 7.25" radius. The neck also features the vintage-style truss rod that is accessed at the base of the neck.

Cymbal and kick pads feel right

The CY-12C crash and CY-13R ride cymbal pads on the Roland TD-11KV give you great response and natural swinging motion. The CY-12C crash features separate bow/edge triggering, and the CY-13R ride is capable of bow, edge, and bell trigger. Both of these amazing cymbal pads include full choke capability. The updated KD-9 kick trigger pad's vertical design and cloth striking surface not only gives you a better feel compared to reverse-type kick triggers, but it also reduces trembling so you get nothing but solid kick sounds.
