Liverpool's popular bookmaker Betfred is offering 1/2 that a red beach ball will be on the Anfield pitch at any point during the Liverpool v Manchester United clash on Sunday.

Fred Done expects United fans to rub in the misery for their bitter rivals, who suffered a 1-0 loss at Sunderland on Saturday when the only goal, scored by Darren Bent, was deflected into the net off a Liverpool fans red beach ball.

Betfred spokesman Jon Wilde said: "Football fans never miss a chance to have a pop at the opposition and Saturday's incident was manna from heaven for United supporters only six days before the visit to Anfield."

We have European action to take care of first were Olympique Lyonnais travel to Anfield looking to pile more misery on for the five times European Champions.
Dirk Kuyt, who has such a good record in Europe, is a great bet in the anytime goalscorer markets at 9/4.
Also good value is a goal to be scored after 79th Minute which is 8/5 with Sportingbet.com.

Everton will almost rubber stamp their passports through to the knockout stages of the Europa League if they can manage to beat S.L. Benfica in Estádio da Luz on Thursday afternoon.
Javier Saviola is an outstanding bet at 6/1 to score the first goal over in Lisbon while the odds increase for Evertonian Tony Hibbert who is now 100/1 for the opening goal in Portugal.

Dont forget that beach ball certainty for Sunday afternoon.

First of all I'd like to thank Bet Fred last time out for giving us generous odds of 10/1 for Jovetic first goal and 3/1 for Fiorentina to beat Liverpool, Cheers Fred.

You can study odds and facts all day long but some things are just meant to be.
Take last week for instance.
Who would of thought former Manchester City captain Richard Dunne towering over former Aston Villa skipper Gareth Barry to score the first goal .
Dunne's odds to score first goal that night were 40/1.
The inevitable does happen in football and there's nothing you can do about it.
When a player is playing against his old club, whether it's a coincidence or not, the player tries that extra 10% to show their worth or to remind fans just what there missing.
I don't know why but this season especially, it's becoming more a bit of a common thing.

Players scoring past former clubs so far this season

Emmanuel Adebayor Vs Arsenal
Jermain Defoe Vs West Ham
Nicolas Anelka Vs Liverpool
Matt Taylor Vs Portsmouth
Carlos Tevez Vs West Ham
Richard Dunne Vs Manchester City
Michael Turner Vs Hull City
Leighton Baines Vs Wigan.

The Difference in class

Players that can add to that list tomorrow are Matt Etherington, Segundo Castillo, Boudewijn Zenden, Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Jamie O'Hara.

Merseyspy Bet of the Weekend : James Milner 14/1 First goal scorer vs. Chelsea

Merseyspy Footy Acc: Ipswich- 5/4, Everton- 1/2, Sunderland vs. Liverpool- Draw 5/2 & Middlesboro- 8/13
Merseyspy Everton Special : Louis Saha to score a hat-trick- 33/1

Merseyspy Liverpool Special : Yossi Benayoun to score the first goal- 9/1

What are your bets for the weekend ?

Liverpool travel to the picturesque city of Florence tomorrow hoping the of the pitch activities at the Italian club can prove a major distraction for their players.
Despite winning four of their first six and sitting just two points off the top of Serie A, La Viola are in a bit of turmoil off the pitch with president Andrea Della Valle standing down before hitting out at the local media for attempting to cause unrest.
But Fiorentina sit fourth in Serie A having won four of their last five to nil while they are unbeaten at the Stadio Artemio Franchi so they will provide a stiff test for Rafa Benitez's side.
Top scorer Alberto Gilardino is suspended so the onus will fall on Stevan Jovetic to provide their main threat.
Liverpool have problems of their own with Javier Mascherano and Yossi Benayoun both sidelined through injury.

If Evertonians want a dream trip to Hamburg in May they will need to get past unknown quantities like F.C Bate Birisov to get there.
They travel to Belarus on Thursday in good form but F.C Bate will be no pushovers as was proven with their results in Europe last season by taking Champions League points of Juventus and Zenit St Petersburg.

Recommendations :

Fiorentina to beat Liverpool - 3/1
Stevan Jovetic to score first goal - 10/1

F.C.Bate vs Everton- draw - 5/2
Correct Score 1-1 - 13/2

Last night Everton all but booked their place in the Europa League stages without the hindrance from a certain Joleon Lescott.
Lescott's next club Manchester City won't exactly be taking Europe by storm this season, will they?
Perhaps Evertonians may even bring back a few duty frees for him, who knows ?

Lescott's mind and wallet is firmly in Manchester at the moment, and with the "will he or won't he" saga taking another dramatic twist this morning, bookies are certain where the 27-year-old will be after the transfer window.
Manager Mark Hughes said this morning "I've said time and time again it comes to a point where sometimes you think it's not going to happen and you walk away from situations, and that's what we've done.''
Two minutes later (off the record) he insisted he has not yet ended his interest in signing Lescott after clarifying comments he was ready to walk away from a deal.

Lescott stays - EVENS - Betfair
Lescott goes - 1/7 - Betfair

If you like coincidence bets, look no further than York races this afternoon on Channel 4.

1:45 - Braveheart Move - 5/1
2:15 - Forgotten Voice - 3/1
2:50 - Secret Society - 9/1
3:25 - BorderLescott - 8/1

Liverpool and Tottenham kick off their new campaign at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon with the slight possibility of not a fit centre half on show for either side.
Carragher, Skrtel, Agger, Woodgate, King and Dawson have all been struggling for fitness of late and with the total strike force of 60 goals in last seasons premiership, its got all the credentials of a goal feast in the capital.

Recommendation : over 3 goals in game - 9/4 with stan james

Everton interestingly haven't scored more than one goal in a game past Arsenal since Wayne Rooney embraced himself onto the world stage so I'm not predicting a hatful of goals at Goodison Park.
Tim Cahill was in scoring form during the week for Australia and can carry his decent record on past Arsenal by scoring the first goal on Saturday.
Here is my best value bet for ESPN's first live televised match.

Recommendation : Tim Cahill, First Goalscorer - 9/1 with Ladbrokes & Paddy Power

Merseyspy football acc : Chelsea 1/5, Manchester City 5/4, Cardiff 8/5, Sheffield Utd 8/11, Newcastle 11/10
Merseyspy Horse to follow : Kite Wood, 2:35 Newbury - Saturday
Merseyspy Bet of the weekend : Man United to be top of the Premiership after week 1 - 9/2 with Boylesports

Any followers of this site will be flying after the cashing in on Xabi Alonso's and Stuart Downing's transfers over the past weeks.
Speaking to an un-named footballing agent yesterday, he's pretty sure the list below is as certain as Rafa Benitez having a pop at Sir Alex Ferguson next season.

Expect this list of transfers to be completed by the end of next week.

Habib Beye, Newcastle United - Aston Villa
Sebastién Bassong, Newcastle United - Aston Villa
Alberto Aquilani, Roma- Liverpool
Salomon Kalou, Chelsea - Arsenal
Philippe Senderos, Arsenal - Everton
Wesley Sneijder, Real Madrid - Inter Milan
Marouane Chamakh, Bordeaux -Arsenal
Andrea Pirlo, AC Milan - Chelsea

Manchester City look a great bet at 13/8 to beat Rangers tonight especially how poor their defending was at Arsenal on Sunday.
Valencia are a big price to beat Manchester United (9/2) tonight and Malaga look over-priced too at (10/3) to turn over an Everton team on Friday who are conceding goals for fun at the moment.

After making a good few shilling for you lot last week with Ronaldo's next shirt number being number 9, we can make more euros with Real Madrid again by backing the Spanish midfielder joining Ronaldo, Kaka and Benzema at the Bernabau next season.

Aston Villa are expected to step up their interest in Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing this week with reports that a £12 million deal is close.
It has been reported that Downing is due to meet manager Martin O'Neill this week to talk terms.
7/4 looks good value for the Englishman to join Villa Park.
