Question: Is there a free shuttle service that connects Houston’s Intercontinental Airport to Hobby Airport?

We are flying out of town on Southwest at Houston Hobby Airport and returning to Houston on another air carrier via Houston’s Intercontinental. We’ve heard that there is a free shutle service that can take us between the two. Is this true? And where can I find out more information on it?

Answer: Yes there is, leaves every half an hour and so. I have seen it but didn’t need to use it. Last time I visited IAH and found this service was in May 2006, not sure if it is still there.

Question: How to use my manual lenses with my new DSLR (Pentax K-x)?

I just bought my first DSLR (Pentax k-x).

I have been using an ancient SLR Pentax MV for about 3 years and have 3 lenses I’d like to continue to use with my DSLR Body. What I’m finding is that the pictures are coming out really dark even though the aperture is wide open and the shutter speed is low. My Zoom lens 80-200, the pictures don’t show up at all unless I’m looking directly into a light source.

I’m no professional, its a hobby I enjoy so I’m not too technical. I followed the instructions in order to be able to use my manual lenses which they work, just not well.

The one thing that I’m not sure of (although doesn’t seem to make a difference) is when I turn the camera on when on manual mode with my lenses is that it asks me to set the focal length. 8-800. I’ve played around with this, but doesn’t seem to make a difference.

Anyone know what I’m not doing, or doing wrong?

Answer: When all else fails READ & STUDY the Owner’s Manual for your K-x. There is a section in it that will explain how to use your older lenses but you’re going to have to look for it. It should be in “Custom Settings” and tell you how to set your camera to “Use aperture ring”.

Question: how can i talk to my parents about depression?

I mentioned it to them many times before and all they tell me is to”go find a hobby or join something” or something along those lines. Sometimes they get mad or worried because they feel like they made a mistake and blame me for the way i feel. They act like they care but all i ever get from them is a lecture that gets no where. How should i approach them?

Answer: I had the same problem, approaching my parents with the truth that I was truly depressed.
I was in therapy for several years and a professional psychotherapist told them that she suspected I was chronically depressed, and they still did not believe her.
Parents want it to be ‘just a faze’ or ’something that you’ll get over.’ This is not always the case. It took a suicide attempt to finally make my parents see that there was a real problem. After several medications and lots of emotional support, it is under control and I am able to live a normal life.
Sit your parents down and tell them flat out “Mom, Dad, I’ve been really down lately, and nothing I do or say seems to make me feel any better, and I’m feeling like you aren’t acknowledging that I may be depressed.” See if they will take you to see a doctor, as they can do a mental health screening test to see if you would benefit from medication and/or therapy.

Question: Has anyone HAD a bad experience at a tanning salon, or heard of one FIRST hand?

I’m just getting started into this hobby, and I was wondering if anyone has experienced, FIRST HAND, or heard of any bad experiences. Thanks.
Please don’t tell me “you can get skin cancer.” I already know that and besides, that’s not the question.

Answer: I had the worker suggest the wrong amount of time for my tannung session.I ended up sunburned.She gave me a 3 free sessions,and apoligzed(spelling?).That was it,after the sun burn healed I knew my time limit,and never had a bad experince since.

Question: Is there anyone who can correct my English please?

I like to talk about my hobbies and share common interest with my friends.

Some examples of my hobby are listening to music of all around world and reading books memorizing phrases of bible and studies Portuguese as well as English, Brazilian culture, world history and culture.

I talk about almost everything. News, the weather, my work, holidays, my plan, tasty food, handsome guys, travel, shopping, childhood memories.

I dont avoid controversial topics, either. Racism, euthanasia, gay rights, drug abuse, immigration, deforestation, war in Iraq, abortion, religion, sex before marriage, global warming, pollution. Every topic is really controversial so if we don’t take care how to express our opinions, we can offen our friends.

But we have to talk about these. We have to think of too much for resolving problems. Generally, controversial topic is really important in our life. When we get the answer we can help other people and protect whatever things in this world.

Question: why do parents always see your hobby as “wasting time”?

Mothers out there, the truth is; not all your son’s will be great at sports, so we won’t always be out ‘with the gang’ doing something

I’m still young 17, and I’m not some fat slob, i got a gym downstairs and use it 3 times a week.

You know it amazes me how mothers get fearful so quickly the moment you mention some girl’s name, yet when you start working on something like a larger drawing , or a model, they start complaining that you’re “wasting time”

Answer: My son (13) and husband (56) are BOTH avid model makers, and make scale model tanks, aircraft, Warhammer people (mostly the 13 YO!), and other stuff… We even kitted out our new conservatory a couple of years back with hobby space for them to make models and store all the modeling kits, tools, and paraphanalia, as well as cutting space for me to cut garments.

They also walk the hills. My son swims and plays rugby. He’s not really interested in any particular girls yet.

Nowt wrong with model making, lad. You go for it! If you want some justification, other than the usual guff about it keeping you out of trouble (it doesn’t, believe me! You probably know EXACTLY how to get glue and/or paint in the wrong place and get into trouble in one small, neatly executed move!), then start burbling about how it helps with fine motor control, concentration, research and design skills, materials specification (gotta have the right stuff for the job!), and project planning and costing…

My hobby? Rebuilding old sewing machines, My work involves using them. Maybe I’m sympathetic because I come from an engineering family on my mother’s side, and married an engineer!

Question: What should the characters in The Great Gatsby have as their favorite books?

I have an assignment in my American Lit class where we have to make yearbook pages for Nick, Jordan, Tom, Daisy, Gatsby, Myrtle, George, and Wolfsheim. One of the sections is favorite book. I just can’t think of appropriate books. Other section ideas would be cool too. The other sections are senior quote, fav. song, clubs/organizations, hobbies, scholarships and awards, most likely to…, and senior awards (class clown, cutest couple, etc.). Any help would be appreciated.

Question: For me, fashion design is a hobby, how do I make it more?

I love designing clothes…as a hobby along with acting. Right now acting is just a “side job” and I’d really like to focus on design. Are there any websites, e-mail addresses or helpful tips you can give me on making my line real?

1. Don’t say fashion is a potential catfight career, I REALLy do NOT care in the slightest.

Answer: hey sweeti. thats so awsome try going to like walmart or soemthing and buying a sketch book or something and take all your designs and put them in a portfolio try taking some pices of fabric and putting them on there so when you present your things they can see what type of fabric you are looking for.

is there any local modeling places around. around here there is john casablanca’s modeling and they have desing things there you can maybe take you portfolio with you and they can set up an interview with you and work something out

im sure you’ll find a way to make your dreams cometrue your a very determined girl and people will notice that.

Question: What’s a good solo hobby to keep me in shape?

What can i obsess over that’ll get me in shape? I need something that I can practice on my own. When I was younger I loved to skateboard but it’d be a bit odd if i did that now. I’d prefer something that I could do in private but still be able to “show off” (like breakdancing I guess.)

Answer: I know this may sound a bit too girly and shallow but shopping helped me loose weight without me even realizing it. You wont even notice you’ve walked about 5 km in an hour. That’s if you love shopping. This might not be applicable to most men.

Question: I want my little girl to be GOOD at something – what can I start her on?

OK I always regret that my parents never pushed me to get a talent or hobby or skill or something. I am a jack of all trades but not really GOOD at anything. Now my little girl is 3. She is just a regular toddler – she does talk very well for her age apparently and tells good stories etc. Well I wanted her to learn something. Like piano or something. I do not have much money though. What would you suggest?

A lot of these famous people like tiger woods, the williams sisters etc started training when they were like 3 or 4 years old. I do not want her to be a superstar but I want her to be able to be proud that she has a talent.

I know talent is sometimes just a natural gift but I think in many cases talent can DEVELOP from putting time and effort into something. Not forcing but just encouraging her.

Answer: Ask her about what she’s interested in. If she’s a good story-teller, nurture it and help her get better at it. Don’t force her into things she’s not interested in. There would be no point in learning if she doesn’t enjoy it. Just help her get her way through school so that when she gets older, she’ll know how to do her job when she gets older. As she gets older, ask her things about how was school. You might learn something about her that she likes.

hi i was wondering if anyone had any ideas of recording or anything, im only 13 so i dont have much money to get any high tech stuff for this, so any ideas?

Answer: These days it is very easy to get professional results with non-professional prices. If you know anyone with a standard mini dv camcorder start there. This makes it very easy to get the video onto a computer for editing. If you know anyone with a Mac that’s what you want to be editing on. Very powerful free software all over the internet for Mac. Plus the infrastructure of a Mac far surpasses anything windows based. You would want to research camera techniques such as framing and composition. http://www.videomaker.com is a great site for tutorials on basics but the internet is PACKED with them. Just search for video production tutorials. Try and get your parents to join the Mac generation if they haven’t already and get Final Cut Express. It’s cheap and powerful! Use your imagination and get creative. Everyone has their own TV station these days with YouTube. I wish when I got started I had the resources that you have today. It makes me sound old but, there are hundreds of careers that pay VERY WELL. So if you enjoy it and pusue it you will never have to “work” a day in your life. That’s what I did.
