Steampunk Mixed Media Art Show

11:00am - Warehouse 1333 - Warehouse 1333 showcases Steampunk art at a free public exhibit open until March 17. Join us for our opening reception on Saturday, January 21 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will feature free live entertainment, refreshments, a treasure hunt, and discount tickets for another Steampunk show at Muzeo in Anaheim. Featured artists are Pete Ramirez (whose Steampunk art is currently being exhibited at a Southern California museum) and Pete Buchan, Linda McClure, Kitty Brown, John Hicks, and Kathleen Kaplan. Faces of Ceremony

11:00am - Pacific Island Ethnic Art Museum - Pacific Island Ethnic Art Museum honors the traditional living roots of Pacific Island artistic expression as seen through faces not exclusive to the human face. These faces take on many fluid art forms from evolving spoken words, face paintings, carvings, textiles and surfaces. Community participants and art on display are from the Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Hawaii, New Zealand, Papau New Guinea, Samoa and Tonga. Exhibit runs through April 29, 2012. Inspiration Vol. 3: Go GloCal Vintage, Fashion, Art & Kulture Show

Man of La Mancha

8:00pm - Musical Theatre West at the Carpenter Center - Man of La Mancha, one of the all-time great musicals by Mitch Leigh, Joe Darion and Dale Wasserman, opened on Broadway in 1965. This Tony Award Winner for Best Musical features one of Broadway’s great standards, “The Impossible Dream,” and takes place during the height of the Spanish Inquisition. While awaiting a hearing with the Inquisition, Miguel de Cervantes presents a play as his defense in a mock trial for the prisoners. In it, he plays Alonso Quijana, a man who has set his own reality aside and becomes Don Quixote De La Mancha. Assisted by Sancho Panza, Quixote attempts to avoid his mortal enemy, the Enchanter, and woo the serving wench and prostitute, Aldonza, who he takes to be the Lady Dulcinea. MAN OF LA MANCHA will be under the helm of Ovation Award-winning director Nick DeGruccio (MTW’s 1776, RENT and THE ANDREWS BROTHERS).
