Avignon Square Restaurant

When we were in Avignon in Provence, we got very hungry after all the sightseeing – there is so much to see there that we could have gone on for over as it seemed, but we finally realized that it was dinner time and found this charming restaurant at the square below the Palace of the Popes.

I just love those kind of places with such a character – and yes, it was a delicious dinner and well deserved after wandering around all day with our cameras, trying to get as many photos as possible.

World Heritage Site: Avignon Papal Palace

The French World Heritage Site of Avignon did show us this architecturally wonder of the Gothic Papal Palace in the mid of Avignon charming little town. We came just in time to catch the enormous palace before the sunset, on a road trip to explore Provence further.

The Palace of the Popes was built 1335–1364 on a natural spur of rock and is located in Avignon historic center surrounded by ancient preserved ramparts.

We were naturally impressed by this big tourist attraction and tried to take photos in all kind of angles, but it was difficult…

We were too hungry, so we went for dinner instead!

There are many different kind of cruises to dream about. What are your dream? I’ve had a dream of a Caribbean cruise one day, ever since a couple I know won a fantastic Caribbean cruise. Instead I have to be realistic and make the cruises I can do in the reality…

Not all can afford a dream cruise like in the Caribbean or don’t want to save up for such a cruise. Instead we go on shorter, less luxurious cruises, but still well worth the money and giving wonderful experiences. (Yes, even our earlier Helsinki cruise!)

Now we have booked a special deal Baltic cruise Stockholm – St Petersburg, when you read this we’re boarding the cruise ship and will be away for 4 days, but I’ve scheduled posts every day to auto-post on this blog.

If we get the chance, I might post something on Twitter or Facebook, otherwise you’ll get reports when we’re back again.

Oh, and keep your fingers crossed for a calm sea please… If anything should toss, I hope that it will be because of all the Champagne I’ve had and not the waves!

Cruise Bag plus Camera

We have been very busy lately with different kind of trip preparations. Not only for our Europe trip this summer, but also this weekend with some preparations before our cruise this week from Stockholm, Sweden to St. Petersburg, Russia. This is my packed bag plus camera bag.

We also have our most festive clothes in a small kind of wardrobe trunk for protection against wrinkles. Yes, we’re going to dress up and have at least one very festive dinner aboard the cruise ship. (Hint: hubbys birthday is the 17th May!)

We leave home Monday afternoon, the ship departures at 07.00pm. I’ll set Lifecruiser Travel blog with scheduled auto-posts.

We still have many travel photos that we have not shown you from our French Riviera trip in 2009 and this summer there will be even more to come! This photo below is somewhere from the area at the opposite side of a bay from the Cannes area somewhere.

It’s such a pity when it takes this long time to sort travel photos, because it’s so difficult to remember the places names. We really need to Geotag our travel photos!

One thing that many gives as a reason to go to the French Riviera is for the beaches, not so much for us even though we did visit several beaches during our travel around in Provence. this one is from Nice or Cannes, don’t remember which one.

It look so darn inviting, especially now when we only have early spring her at home in Stockholm. Wish so bad that we were at the French Riviera instead!

We have to wait until August… *sigh*

We were really impressed over all the wall paintings in the French Riviera and wish that we could have lots of them over here at home too. This wall painting photo is like it was a portal into the house with a street behind the portal.

It’s a very clever way of hiding dull walls, don’t you think? What would you like to have painted at a wall nearby your home?

There are many activities to do in The Kings Garden in Stockholm throughout the year, many different events hold there, but one thing that is there more permanent, are the chess players. Not during the winter, but from spring to fall.

Here they are under the Japanese cherry tree’s blossoms which are in full bloom. Quite a nice alternative to other form of socializing, don’t you think? Here you really have to use your brain…

A very popular place to meetup with other persons is in The Kings Garden in Stockholm City Center – or Kungsträdgården as it’s Swedish name is. Generally people like to mingle among people there and when the Japanese cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the park is full too.

The Japanese Cherry tree’s even have a special day called The Cherry Blossoms Day, which use to be in the end of April when the tree’s are supposed to be in full bloom. So even this year, even though my photos are from another year actually.
