Politicizing a War

We will know tomorrow but the preliminary leaks regarding Obama’s speech tonight say he will send less than 30k troops over 6 months and pull out before his first term ends. Just think about it, he will be reading to the Nation tonight, with West Point as a backdrop for his photo op, that his teleprompter has concluded that more troops are needed in Afghanistan. In back rooms there is supposedly talk about a pull out before 2012. This means the enemy can sit on its hands until then, and give Obama the impression he won the war. The bad guys can then regroup, retool and kick the shit out of us as we leave. Sounds like a well thought out plan to me especially in light of the fact that in a separate and completely ignored “conflict” Iraq a known terrorist gets a bloody lip during his capture and 3 or our best and brightest (SEALS) are facing court martial. The rules of engagement are “don’t engage” and the exit strategy is to say we will be out by date certain. WOW – We are screwed.

They love to shake hands, kiss the baby and get that pat on the back. But when it comes time to face conflict – 300+ from the house and 30+ from the senate refuse to do so. Some even going so far as to say that meeting with you would not be productive (I read this a waste of their time). Is that because their agendas are in question and perhaps they really don’t have answers? There are also those that do opt to hold meetings, lets take Barney Frank, who denigrate participants because they have alternative opinions. Isn’t that what discourse is all about? Sharing opinions and finding common ground? Apparently not the case when it comes to Health Care. In essence our elected officials could care less about our opinions. The solution to this – fire them in the fall. They have all made sweetheart deals so they won’t go hungry. Since most of them are lawyers and since there is no tort reform built into health care reform, they should be in good shape suing doctors in the future.

Killing Americas Greatest Generation

Its bad enough that the VA neglected veterans of foreign wars but now we have an administration that wants to put the Greatest Generation in the “too old for treatment” category. While WWII vets die at a rate of 1000 per day it is not relative to their access to health care, its natural. There are currently about 2 million survivors of WWII living out thei”r golden” years watching a new administration undermine everything they fought for. One of them is my Dad – you can see an article about him on this blog. He fought and was wounded on Iwo Jima and is to this day a very proud American and a very proud Marine. He said to me the other day- “If Obama gets what he is looking for I will be one of the people that no longer gets the great health care I have been getting all these years. Dad survived being hit by shrapnel on Iwo. He survived infection and paralysis. He survived the horrors of waking up sweating the sands of Iwo Jima in his bed while safe at home in New Haven CT. He survived cancer, and arterial blockage and negligence in the hospital. He is a survivor BUT now he feels like he is being cast aside for an agenda that is nothing more than a dismissal of the Constitution. Wake up America, this has to be squashed. We cannot afford to watch the Greatest Generations shoved under the rush to change bus that is being driven by far too fast by this new administration. We are a republic, we are free, lets act that way. God Bless our Veterans, God Bless America.

Too many of us are sleeping. If you remember the Rip Van Winkle story you know that while he slept the world changed drastically. Actually it changed to the point that he didn’t recognize it when he woke up. Are you a Rip Van Winkle? I hope not. We have been sliding further away from our foundation for decades now. We actually have a president that says he wants to build a new foundation. This is absurd, we need to open our eyes and our minds. While the media has been on board this take over for years we have other more effective ways to communicate. Lets form a wall to blocks any agenda that removes our God given rights. Lets speak up. We like the Constitution as it was written – not as it has been bastardized. This is not an issue of party as all our politicians share in our demise. Tell them enough is way more than enough. Liberty and freedom are at stake here, and those are the only things that separate us from the rest of the world.

uneasy feeling

Does anyone else feel this way, like there is a massive storm coming? It feels like everything we know is about to be tipped up on edge. As we celebrate the Independence of the Country this July 4th consider where we are at this time in history. Consider our Constitution and think about the hero’s of the past and what they have done to protect this marvelous document. Reflect on what you want for the future, not just your future, the future of liberty and freedom. Do you want new light bulbs or a return to the promise of a bright future that our forefathers committed to? It feels like we are about to feel the wrath of an imperfect man made potentially devastating storm.

Pray this Independence Day that we are sheltered from this storm. Pray that the blood shed in the past was not for naught. Pray that reason will trump agenda. Pray for our LIBERTY and FREEDOM – JUST PRAY!

You have to be kidding me

Remember in the old days when you could joke about a president and it was picked up in the news as “funny”. Boy (oops cant say that) jeeez, those were the days my friends. Remember the picture of Good ole GW and GHW fishing after Katrina in NO. Pretty funny stuff. GW blowing up the levees because he hated blacks, now that is really funny isn’t it? Today in our local paper we have yet another example of how absolutely out of touch the NAACP is, at least in this area. In an article in the local paper it aluded that there were racial undertones in dressing up cardboard Obama. There is only one person who can decide as to the “racism” inherent in this display and that is the bar owner. He said that it was just clean college fun until the NAACP made it an issue. Is there anybody out there that believes like I do the NAACP is in the business of creating race issues for their own self preservation? GW and GHW smiling and fishing in the streets of New Orleans was funny, so was the Obama cut out. Let’s just get over ourselves, perhaps bring back Archie Bunker, to teach us we can laugh at ourselves. Its good for us!!!

ABC Belly Flop

ABC went into last nights infomercial apparently thinking that this blatant foray into the tank for Obama would have been more a swan dive or a jack knife but NOOOOO ….. SPLASH!!!!!! It surely is a good thing Obama and the democrats got this time for free because it appears that it was seen by only the hard core bobble head O followers that would watch if it was an hour of their messiah swatting flys (which was pretty funny by the way!). Good thing there was enough water in that tank because ABC just did one spectacular belly flop! How about that pink belly!!!

With a 3.1 rating it seems ironic that the O show was beat by”Americas Got Talent” which came in at 6.1. Could this mean that we are bored with rhetoric already? This was almost 2:1 which means that people tuned in to watch amatuers rather than a professional community organizer. Leaving the highly touted ABC Nationalized Health Care infomercial to lanquish as pretty much a failure. And how about all those tough questions? I guess the only good news for ABC is that their image was so tarnished going in that this disaster really won’t hurt them much! Now lets see whose next in the tank. My bet is NBC gives the president an hour very soon. They really need to sell Cap and Trade to keep Immelt (rhymes with ice melt) in the cat bird seat at big daddy GE (rhymes with rising sea).

where are we going

When the Titanic set sail there was plenty of hope and change to go around for all that were lucky enough to be a part of this historic event. When launched there was an aura surrounding this great ship, the unsinkable Titanic. This is akin to our recent election, another historic event, where hope and change was sold like so many steerage tickets on the Titanic. I reflect today on a T shirt I saw this morning – “Barack Obama – he got my back” and that image is haunting. Just like the image of watching all those smiling passengers board the majestic Titanic. The designers and promoters “got their back”, the Titanic was unsinkable just as Obama is infallible. Neither of these historic event can be seen as occurring free from outside influence. There was little warning when the Titanic hit the iceberg that cold cloudless night. And there was little time to do anything once the damage was done. We have had ample warning as our ship of state nears the economic iceberg made up of trillions of dollars of deficit spending. But, will we steer clear? There were not enough lifeboats on the Titanic and when the great ship sank many were forced to chose death in the cold waters of the Atlantic. There is no safety net for our economy now that the free market has been deconstructed. While we may not be threatened by the cold ocean waters we are most certainly in for a period of “sink or swim” while the ship of state starts to fill with the weight of debt. This is a ballast we just can’t carry now nor can our children and their children and their children carry it when we turn over the helm to future generations. We need to start pumping and hope we only hit with a glancing blow. If not, God help us…..
