Isn’t it your time now to stop procrastinating?

Several nights ago I was listening to a New Wealth Experience interview of Ariane De Bonvoisin, an expert on handling life changes. Even though I had never heard of her before, I decided to take the time to listen because her topic of handling changing times with clarity and hope was perfect for me on that day.

I was feeling down that afternoon. My business wasn’t progressing the way I expected. Then while going through older emails, one of them caught my attention.

The email that attracted me was inviting me to listen for free to a series of interviews of 21 thought leaders, including several stars of the movie, ‘The Secret’. These leaders are experts in helping others achieve health, wealth and happiness in their lives, so I decided to register.

As luck would have it, the first call was that same night and was about the very topic I needed that day. That call really helped get me out of my sad state.

Would you like a few highlights of that interview?

Okay, here’s some of what I wrote in my notes and also questions for you to ask yourself:

The Change Guarantee:  From this change something good will come.

- Are you expecting good things to happen rather than expecting the worst?

- Why not expect the best?

Whatever is missing in your life is what you’re not giving.

- Are you giving enough of your time to your loved ones?

- Are you giving service to your community?

- Are you giving money to those less fortunate than you?

When you give, you must do it in a way of generosity. I loved hearing Ariane tell her special way of giving to a homeless person and some of the reactions she has received.

When you start doing for someone else, it shifts the energy of how you’re feeling.

Resistance is what causes us so much pain.

- If you could stop the pain of resistance by making a change, why wouldn’t you?

Get yourself out of that pain!

What are you thinking about?

Positive thoughts, I hope.

Why?

Well, for one thing, with positive thinking you’re more likely to come up with a solution to a problem.

I’ve got a little inspirational story to illustrate this.

Yesterday Brian walked into my office with a big smile on his face. He was just about to burst with something to tell me…so, of course, I let him do that… on the spot!

And I’m glad I did!

With excitement he said, “I just saved a bee!”

That’s something he hadn’t had much chance to do lately. Previously, as I told you in my story, ‘Can A Bee Show You How to Find Happiness?’, he used to find a struggling bee in our swimming pool almost every day. But lately, he rarely sees a bee.

Just a day or so before yesterday he rescued a bee from the pool. After keeping that bee on his finger for awhile, he set it on a chair outside in the sun to let it dry off its wings. Unfortunately a lizard ate that bee because it couldn’t fly away.

As I told Brian just now that I was writing about his amazing story of saving a bee yesterday, he said: “Did I ever tell you about the wasp?”

“No,” I replied.

“A wasp raises its wings when it lands in the pool, so it doesn’t get its wings wet like the bees do.”

So those bees that land in our pool get their wings wet and can’t fly. Some of them are lucky enough to be rescued by Brian, if he gets to them in time.

Alright, back to yesterday’s story of the bee that survived….I got a little sidetracked when Brian summoned me to come outside. And I couldn’t resist…it’s such a gorgeous, cool and sunny day.

Brian really wanted to save that bee, even though the bee was really out of it, near death. So he was thinking about how he could save the bee.

Since the last bee he had tried to save was eaten after he left it outside, Brian brought this delirious bee inside.

Then he asked God “How can I give this little bee more help? Lord, I need a miracle.”

And instantly the answer came to him…

Why not give the bee some of its own product – honey?

So he put a little honey on the tip of his finger and dabbed it on the floor next to the bee. After he nudged the bee closer to the honey, the bee immediately extended his stinger or whatever you call it into the honey. It looked like the bee was drinking it up!

Brian stepped outside for only a minute and came back into the house and couldn’t believe what he saw. The bee was flying around the room!

This was the speediest recovery ever!

The bee landed on Brian’s outstretched finger and Brian took it outside. That little bee flew around Brian for a long time, as if showing gratitude.

How good do you think that made Brian feel?

Well, so good that he couldn’t wait to tell me about it. And he’s still feeling good.

Do you give thanks when you receive help?

Wouldn’t you like to see someone feel good when you thank them?

How would you feel when you made someone feel good?

Back to the story…

Not long after he told me of his amazing rescue Brian called me to come outside, quickly. I rushed out there.

As I stood near Brian, the bee circled about us for quite some time, sometimes disappearing and reappearing. At one point it came really close to Brian’s eyes, maybe an inch away.

Brian held out his hand, and shortly afterward the bee landed on his finger. After staying there briefly to say goodbye, the bee flew away.

So I, too, got the thrill of experiencing that bee’s gratitude firsthand.

With positive thoughts that led to God’s help, Brian saved that bee.

What could you accomplish with positive thinking?

What problem could you solve?

Remember that you’re never alone. Ask for help from the Divine.

I pray that these lyrics will help you to start thinking positive thoughts. But you’ll be better off if you also do something about your self-talk.

Especially if your answer is Yes to the following questions:

- Are you allowing negative thoughts to control your life?

- Do you worry too much about what might go wrong instead of expecting things to go right?

This is a follow-up to the inspirational story I wrote last week (my last previous post).

So if you haven’t yet read “How Can You Be Helped by This Inspirational Story?” do it now because it is the beginning of this story.

Here’s the follow-up story.

It was late at night, shortly after I had finished writing the rough draft of that story, when Brian called me to have a look in our atrium.

I couldn’t believe what I saw!

So many snails gathered together on the rocks (See the picture above) in our atrium and, of course, not a snail shell in sight! As best as I could tell, I’d say there were at least fifteen snails.

What did this mean?

To me, without question, it meant that the snails approved of my story about them. I must admit, I did have slight reservations about writing about snails. After all, most people aren’t likely to get excited to see a snail, much less read about them. Right?

So I had my confirmation from the snails and got Brian to take pictures of them. That gathering of snails was a rare sight indeed, and I wanted to keep the memory in pictures not only for myself, but also so you could see that I’m not so loony as perhaps you thought when you read my inspirational story.

And would you believe this?

As if one confirmation by the snails wasn’t enough, the snails made an appearance the next night! And this time there were probably twice as many of them. I’d say there were thirty-one of them gathered on the rocks of our atrium. Since they were not lined up in rows, counting them was pretty challenging.

I’ve discovered that snails can be quite fascinating to watch. They gracefully slither, slowly but surely.

What fascinates you about nature’s creatures?

Surely you’ve heard that saying “Take time to smell the roses.”

If you recall, I told you in that inspirational story that Brian and I were working on a project. And just as the snails foretold, our progress was slow and steady…

and we finally finished! Yes!

I have also noticed signs from nature.

How much attention do you pay to what is going on in nature?

Have you ever noticed the trees waving to you?

What insights does nature hold for you?

Now that I have learned the value of nature awareness, I am more grateful for the gifts nature gives us. And I pay close attention to nature. When I say that, I don’t mean listening to or watching the weather news unless I know very bad weather looms nearby. And even then, I don’t pay that much attention to it. When Hurricane Ike boldly whirled through our area last year, I slept through it.

One night a couple of weeks ago after heavy rain, as Brian walked by the atrium in our house he noticed something sparkling on the atrium ground. He summoned me to have a look.

What we saw was a sparkling, glittery irregular spiral line. Brian noticed a snail without a shell by the sparkly trail, and it was then we knew that the sparkling trail was left by a snail, a gift to us. The gift remained for several days, until a heavy rain washed it away.

Years ago I never thought I would enjoy seeing a snail in our atrium. After all, there were a lot of snails in there back then, eating our wandering jew plants while destroying their lovely leaves. We did our best to get rid of those pesky destructive snails, and finally we no longer saw snails or the shells that protected them.

I’m not sure when we began to see snails without shells inside our house near the atrium door.

Snails in Our House!

Maybe it began a year ago, but it has occurred quite a few times since. It was a mystery to us how they got inside and why we never saw their shells…

Whenever they appeared, it was always at night and after a rain. One night I discovered how they got in, as I watched a snail entering through a very small space at the bottom corner of the atrium door. Still, it is amazing how we never find snail shells in the atrium any more and how beautiful and healthy our wandering  jew plants in the atrium look.

How do you think those snails survive?

Where are their shells?

We have become quite accustomed to seeing snails without shells in our house by the atrium at night after rain. Usually there are anywhere from 3 to 7 snails. It always seems to be an odd number of snails.

Sometimes one or two of them slithers out a foot or so on the wood floor of the hall. But usually they stay very close to the atrium. We let them hang out there while we sleep. When we arise the next morning, all snails are gone.

So now let’s get back to the sparkly gift left by the snails. The next morning after we discovered our gift from the snails, I said to Brian, ”The snails left us a gift as their way of saying good bye.”

As I had learned when I researched online for the meaning of snails showing up, snails signify slow, steady progress. And that’s just the way it has been for us while learning how to build a business using the Internet.

When we received the gift of the snails, the project I have been working on with Brian was nearing the finishing stretch.

The next morning while on our walk in the park, we saw a rabbit. We took the sighting of the rabbit as a sign of progress in leaps and bounds. Ah, yes, I thought. The snails said goodbye because now we will progress rapidly! Good sign! Yes!

Things were going quite well, and I expected to finish our project very soon. But it didn’t happen. Challenges kept popping up, and one by one we overcame them. We are very persistent.

Do you persist when challenges get in your way?

What happens if you don’t persist? Think about that.

And if you do persist, you could be creating an inspirational story without even realizing it at the time.

Bees Mean Good Luck

When was the last time you saw a bee?

On Sunday I saw a bee visiting the small dark purple flowers in front of our house. Later I saw a bee nosediving into the white blooms of ginger plants on the side of the house.  To me, bees mean good luck, so I was very happy to see them.

As you probably know, bees are becoming tragically scarce, so we rarely see them.

Yesterday Brian mentioned that he had not seen a bee in our swimming pool in a long time.  So, this morning he found a bee in the pool and rescued it, just like he has done so many times before. Perhaps you read my story about Brian saving the bees.

Brian spent quite a while with the bee and then set it on a patio chair in the sun so its wings could thoroughly dry. Not so long after that, the bee died. But he was being nurtured by Brian shortly before his death. It was his time to pass on.

Walking Upside Down

In the past couple of days I’ve had other visitors of nature in and near my office… a blue jay, love doves and sparrows. The love doves always remind me of love and peace.

Since the weather was so delightfully cool, I had my office door open, and a wasp flew into my office. It landed on the closet door in front of me and climbed upward to the ceiling. While on the ceiling, the wasp wandered about for a long time.

As I watched this wasp walking upside down, I wondered how insects do that. When I have had a wet bee that Brian saved from our pool walking on my fingers and hand, I was thinking the same thing. I could feel the light touch of the bee’s feet, but they did not dig into my skin as the bee was walking upside down on my hand.

How do they walk upside down?

Have you ever been curious about that?

Finally the wasp flew back outside, only to turn around and fly back in. This time he landed on the side of my computer screen! From my chair in front of my computer, I watched him climb up the side and across the top till he reached the center. And he walked around there for a while before flying outside again.

I think that wasp wanted to make sure I paid attention to it, don’t you?

Here’s the meaning of wasps I got from Animal Spirit Guides by Stephen D. Farmer, Ph.D.:

“Whatever task is before you, jump in and go for it with enthusiasm and determination.”

That’s just what I’ve been doing with my project.

A couple of nights ago after the rain, guess what we saw?

Eleven snails inside our house and one inside the atrium on the window!

Big ones, little ones and medium size snails! I got Brian to take some pictures of them this time. We never thought to do that before.

Maybe that’s why they returned?

Did they want to be remembered in pictures?

Or was it to show us again that it’s a time of slow, steady progress?

Whatever, we will persist and finish that project very soon. I’m expecting to finish it today.

This morning our special cardinal, Solomon, was singing for us up high in the magnolia tree in our backyard. I think he’s telling us that he’s ready for us to get this project out there to the world.

Oh, by the way, I have a really good story to tell you about Solomon, but I’ll save that for another day.

Even though I have been very frustrated with the challenges of the project Brian and I are working on, I work on it diligently and without noticing time passing by.

Why? Because I have an intention to help poor children and orphans through a charity I want to create. That is my big vision. I want to create more peace, love and happiness in the world. The project I am working on is a small step toward that dream.

What is your intention?

It doesn’t have to be anything at all like mine. It just has to be from your heart. When you are doing what your heart tells you to do, it becomes much easier to overcome obstacles.

You have your own gifts and talents to share. Maybe you haven’t discovered them yet. I didn’t discover mine until just a few years ago. And it was less than a year ago that I received rave reviews from my mentors about my first blog post.

What is it that you are really good at?

Do you know?

What do you love to do?

What would you love to do?

The other part of the project is the video from which this ebook was created. Brian came up with the idea for the project when I asked his opinion about a collection of my lyrics which I thought would make good inspirational quotes. I wanted him to help me eliminate some of them.

Later that day he surprised me with a slide show he created using all of those lyrics on a serene background of sky and water. He accompanied it with beautiful classical music. From what he’s told me about creating this slide show, it came so easily to him, even though he had never before created one.

The background he used for the slides was the first one he saw when looking for one. And the music is heavenly.

I think he was divinely inspired, don’t you?

The project has taken so long because neither of us has ever before created a YouTube video or an ebook. I studied and learned how to make the ebook available as a download. YouTube is next after I finish this story.

I have learned a lot of computer tech stuff in the process. It’s been challenging and also rewarding. When I finally got the graphic of the ebook cover on the sidebar of my blog, I was so thrilled. It took many changes in the size of the graphic to get it to work.

Many hours went by as I worked on the project, but because I am working to fulfill my intention, time passed in a flash.

Why is it so important to know your intention?

Here’s a big reason that I wrote in my lyrics for ‘You Own The Key’…

Ready for another story? Since money problems concern so many people, I’ve got another story for you on that topic.

On Sunday while going through my emails I saw one that had an urgent subject line. Since it was from someone whom I
respect, I couldn’t resist reading it.

It was quite fascinating, about some ‘insider information’.

Hmm, insider information…is that legal?

In this case it is!

Although that email had some very compelling information, I didn’t think it was right for me so much as it was for other people I know.  And the email was time-sensitive, but since I already had plans for the rest of the day, I didn’t get the chance to let anyone else know about it.

Monday morning as I set my intentions for the day during my spiritual time, I was reminded of that email. And I knew that the information it contained was very right for me.

As I’ve mentioned before, I have a big dream of founding a charity that will help poor children and orphans.  It’s going to take a lot of money to fulfill that dream, so I’m always on the lookout for ways to make money in a time-efficient way.

Further confirmation came as we approached the park for our morning walk in nature.

“Look at the sky!”  I said to Brian. The sky was spectacular with the sun peeking from behind clouds edged in soft pink. We were awestruck by the huge blue rays coming from the sun, stretching upward among the clouds into the sky.

As I reflected later on what I had seen, the song ‘Oh, What A Beautiful Morning’  from the musical ‘Oklahoma’ popped into my head. Aren’t these uplifting lyrics?

When we arrived at the park, we quickly walked to a place where Brian could take pictures.  He took a couple of really good photos right away and then several more photos as we continued walking.

While I would love to share those photos with you now, I won’t because I’m saving them for my new website which is based on a spiritual song I wrote.  That website is in the works, so just be patient, OK?

Back to the park scene…

While walking we observed a small flock of black birds flying about.  One at a time a bird would swoop in front of us or above us, really close.  This occurred several times. We were both thrilled and amazed.

I believe those birds were letting us know that what we’re doing now is what we’re meant to be doing. We’re taking action, and the universe is rewarding us.

Are you taking action?

How are your money problems affecting you?

Recently Brian and I attended a performance of the musical ‘42nd Street’. This event was held outdoors at Houston’s Miller Outdoor Theater.

We arrived about an hour before the performance to see if any tickets were available. Since all tickets had already been claimed, we walked back to our car to get our folding outdoor chairs from the trunk.

Carrying the chairs, we walked back up the hill overlooking the theater and set up our chairs among a variety of adults, children and dogs. As I looked around, I noticed one group of people dining from a picnic table they had set up. Other people were eating or lounging on large blankets.

Children were running about, laughing and playing. Not far in front of us was a beautiful and frisky white dog whose owner was playing with him.

So, even though we had a long time to wait before the performance began, we were quite entertained by our surroundings. And we were blessed with a nice breeze, so it didn’t seem hot.

Finally the performance began. I felt sorry for the actors having to dance in costumes while the temperature was high. But the actors seemed unfazed by the heat as they danced and performed with joy and vigor.

During the performance Brian told me “I’m glad I came. This is the best play I’ve seen here.” And I agreed.

The next day one of the songs from the musical surfaced in my memory. The catchy tune was ‘We’re in the Money’.

Here are the lyrics I remembered:

I love inspirational stories, don’t you?

I’ve got another one of them to bring a smile to your face…another story resulting from Brian’s encounters at the grocery store.

Would you like to know what happened?

OK, I’ll tell you.

As Brian meandered through the produce area of the grocery store, he came across an elderly woman checking out the bananas…and talking to herself.

When she noticed Brian, she said, “Hi, I’m sorry, I’m talking to myself. Hope you don’t mind“.

“No, I don’t mind,” replied Brian.

“Do you ever talk to yourself?” she asked.

And Brian replied, “Why of course I do! I think it’s great to talk to yourself!”

“I answer myself” said she.  Then she continued “Have you ever answered yourself?”

Brian’s answer was…

“Yeah, why not? I can learn something from myself. I think we need to do more talking to ourselves. People need to talk to themselves a little more.”

So she was glad to hear that. And, of course, she smiled.

And Brian reciprocated with his charming smile.

Then she said “Every time I leave my retirement community apartment, I always try to walk out with a smile.”

“That is wonderful! That’s good! Keep it up!” replied Brian.

As he left & then later came again by the bananas, she was still there, talking to herself …and answering herself.

He said “You have a great day!”

“Well, thank you so kindly. You’re so nice for saying that!” She was so appreciative & happy that someone took the time to talk to her, even though she was talking to herself.

She was a very beautiful, kind and gentle woman. Although she was a little crippled, she looked happy. And she continued talking to herself & smiling.

So, of course, Brian was smiling, too!

When he was telling me this story, Brian said to me, “It’s probably good therapy for the elderly to talk to themselves”.

The woman who talked to herself got Brian’s attention, and she noticed him.

Wouldn’t it be nice if all of us did more listening with an open heart?

Quite often when Brian returns from a little excursion to the grocery store, he has a story to tell. So when he returned home the other day, I was intrigued with his story.

This story is too good to keep to ourselves, so let me share it with you.

Here’s what happened.

Brian was at the deli counter, and in his usual friendly manner, he asked the deli clerk (I’ll call her Kara), “How’s it going?”

As Kara kind of bobbed her head from side to side, Brian observed that she seemed kind of down and out.  So he again questioned her.

This time she replied,“I’m having a hard time finding a job in my field. I finished school, and I don’t want to work here anymore. I missed a few open house employment job searches at certain locations.”

So Brian advised her…

“Don’t try to force it! You are a good person. You studied hard. If the right job has not come to you, it will. You’ll see!”

As Kara listened, he continued, “Do you remember some time in your life when you wanted something to work, and you forced it and it did not work out? I told my daughter that one day when she wanted to meet the right guy, and I said to her: Don’t force it. Don’t try to make it work. You won’t attract the right person by forcing it.”

Well, Kara was so pleased and so happy from what Brian said that she smiled from ear to ear.

And you know how smiles are contagious, right?

So, of course, Brian also smiled from ear to ear! By helping Kara, he brought happiness to both of them.

I’d say that Kara was listening to Brian’s words of wisdom with her heart, wouldn’t you?

And that ties right in with my lyrics I wrote for the song, ‘Listen With Love’:

I’m telling you… they work!

Not just for my friend, but for me, too!

So, here’s my story of how a mantra and an inspiring quote helped me.

Some weeks ago Brian and I attended Pat O’Bryan’s UnSeminar6 in San Antonio, Texas. Although I knew that I was meant to be there, Brian wasn’t sure about attending.

But when our hotel room number corresponded to his birthday, we knew he was supposed to be there.

Do you notice signs like that showing up in your life?

Anyway, during the seminar I got inspired by one of the unscheduled speakers, Martha Giffen, who said how easy it was to get interviews from the speakers.

Sometime later Joe Vitale took the stage and wowed the audience. I’m always amazed at what he continues to accomplish…and… can you believe it?

He was homeless for a number of years!

So, at dinner that night, Brian was wishing he’d asked Joe how he got out of being homeless.

How did Joe go from being homeless, friendless and feeling unloved by everyone, including himself?

My brain started thinking, “I wonder if music or lyrics played a role? Maybe Joe would let me interview him about that and maybe other speakers would, too.”

Would I get up the nerve to ask Joe?

During the nighttime networking, Brian and I chatted with Joe. He was very gracious and genuine.

So I asked my question…And he quickly agreed to let me interview him at a later date!

What a boost that gave me!

So, then it was easy to ask other speakers for an interview. Everyone I asked agreed to let me interview them at a later date.

Since I had never before interviewed anyone except job-seekers, I had a lot of learning to do.

I kept telling myself morning and night, every day, “I am a successful interviewer.”

Also, I wrote my own quote to inspire me…and you!

But before I tell you that quote I wrote…

Guess what happened?

After only my second interview ever and after sending a thank you email and a tweet to best seller author, Dr. Ben Mack…

Here’s what he tweeted to me (LyricalJoyce) in Twitter:
“…u r a great interviewer”

How good do you think that made me feel?… So good that I couldn’t wait to tell you about it!

And not because I want to brag, but to show you what’s possible for you!

How good would you feel if you got a compliment like that from a brilliant and nice, famous person who is authentic?

Think about that for awhile.

You’d like to be complimented for doing something well, wouldn’t you?

Now it took more than just me telling myself that I am a successful interviewer and writing an inspiring quote.

First, I took actions to get the interviews.  Then I studied how to do interviews.

When I told my mentor, Gina Gaudio-Graves, about the interviews, she connected me with Rick Beneteau, who compiled a masterpiece e-book from interviews he conducted.

For that e-book, Rick interviewed highly successful people, including Joe Vitale. That book is ‘Success: A Spiritual Matter’. Rick graciously gave me a copy so I could study the questions he so thoughtfully and carefully created.

I read that wonderful and inspiring book (You should, too!) while entraining Rick’s interview questions in my mind.

Before ever imagining I would someday interview anyone, I had repeatedly listened over a period of more than a year to Joe Vitale’s interviews. Those interviews are full of wisdom from Joe’s exceptional guests as well as from Joe for his Hypnotic Gold Club members.

Little did I know then that one day I would listen to those interviews to learn how to be an interviewer.

Now in case you’ve never heard him interviewing, Joe is a master at that, among many other things. He asks such thoughtful questions that get the best answers from those he interviews.

In addition to learning interview tips from Joe and Rick, I took an interviewing course from Heather Vale, a professional interviewer.

Usually in my posts I give you lyrics from a song I wrote. But today I’m giving you the inspiring quote I wrote. Who knows, it may show up as lyrics in a future song I write!

Hmm…I was just thinking… A lyricist is someone who writes words for songs.

What do they call people who write quotes…quotists?
