I’ve seen a lot of posts around the net on the top HTML editors, all of which included paid programs. This list is targeted at someone who may be searching for a FREE HTML editor and wants to know the opinion of someone who’s tried a few of them.

  1. Aptana (http://www.aptana.com/) Lots and lots of options! More an IDE then an HTML editor but works as a HTML/php editor so well it ended up as #1 on our list.
  2. Notepad ++ (http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm) Very very fast text based HTML editor.  Loads quickly with nice syntax highlighting.
  3. HTML Kit (http://htmlkit.com/) Loads of options. Great if you have the time to learn what all of the options do. I found this one a bit confusing though, and I’d also like to note that the newest version of HTML kit called “HTML Kit Tools” is available only as a paid version!?

These are just the top free editors in our opinion. Depending on your project some programs will definitely work better then others, these are what works the best for us. (Once again this is just our perspective/opinion) Please feel free to drop yours in the comments. Maybe you can show us something everyone will like even more?

  • Forums have been removed.
  • Downloads section has changed to the “Freebies” section.
  • The tutorials are now being recorded with Camtasia, and a Samson C01U Studio Mic. (Much Higher Quality)
  • The Design is more clean and it’s much easier to navigate the site.
  • No un-nessicary “blocks”.
  • Many more posts, at a much shorter interval, and on a range of subjects.
