Feedly will pick up where Google reader left off. Yes, I have noticed a few bugs with the software, but the development team is actively listening to users to upgrade their product. I would highly recommend giving it a try before Google Reader retires after July 1st.

Now you can discover the hottest top five searches with the “Google Trends – Top of Charts” feature. You can quickly see at a glance the top five searches for actors, animals, athletes, authors, baseball players, baseball teams, books, cars, cities, cocktails, djs, foods, games, kids TV, movies, musical artists, people, politicians, songs, sport teams, TV shows and whiskeys for example.

Keek is a direct competitor but instead of 9 seconds, they give you 36 seconds. The website says, “The fastest way to share video updates with friends Share 36-second video updates via webcam, iPhone, Android or Blackberry. Posting keeks is a fun way to meet new people, stay up to date with friends and tell the world what you’re up to in real time.”

Teens seem to be using Keek more prevalently than Vine perhaps because it gives you more time to communicate. When you create a Vine clip, you have to be bit more clever to make the 9 seconds enjoyable to watch.

You may be aware if you put RT in a tweet it means “Retweet”. To me a RT is like forwarding an email. Did you know that MT is a “Modified Tweet”? An MT is essentially updating the original tweet so you send it as your own and conform to the 140 character limit.

Google has a just a tool to look at online trends called “Zeitgiest” which means “the spirit of the times”. Annually Google groups the past years most popular searches so you can see in a snapshot the trends. IN the past, I have mentioned this tool, however what I did not mention is that you can look back in the archives until 2001.
