Feedly will pick up where Google reader left off. Yes, I have noticed a few bugs with the software, but the development team is actively listening to users to upgrade their product. I would highly recommend giving it a try before Google Reader retires after July 1st.

Highlights:

Pure web access

Mobile access

Group sharing

Mobile app connectivity

With the barrage of social media information, how do you sort through it all? As Leading Hands forecasted, as we move into Web 3.0, the idea of curated information will become more prevalent. In this case, FavStar tracks the best of the best with Twitter. You can find out the best tweet of the day and the best tweet of all-time.

What I like best about FavStar is that you can review what your best tweets to date are according to their website. For example, here the best tweets for Leading Hands Through Technology – http://favstar.fm/users/leadinghands. You don’t need a Twitter account to surf through their website. However, you can login with your account to favorite tweets and get on the FavStar bandwagon.

Have you tried FavStar?

In the last post, you learned about Vine, the app that allows you to create a nine second looping video clip to upload to your Twitter account. Keek is a direct competitor but instead of 9 seconds, they give you 36 seconds. The website says, “The fastest way to share video updates with friends Share 36-second video updates via webcam, iPhone, Android or Blackberry. Posting keeks is a fun way to meet new people, stay up to date with friends and tell the world what you’re up to in real time.”

Teens seem to be using Keek more prevalently than Vine perhaps because it gives you more time to communicate. When you create a Vine clip, you have to be bit more clever to make the 9 seconds enjoyable to watch.

Here is a quick example of a quote from the website. “Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results.” – Anonymous

Do you set your mobile phone on vibrate and miss important calls? If you want to Ignore unwanted calls but answer important calls, you should try a silent ringtone.

How does it work? You record a silent ringtone for all calls and then setup specific ringtones for callers you would answer. For example your wife would have a specific ringtone but a telemarketer would get the general assigned silent ringtone.

Here’s a link how to setup a silent ringtone.
http://www.cultofmac.com/188109/ignore-unwanted-contacts-with-a-silent-ringtone-ios-tips/

P.S. So how do you get the most out of your mobile phone? The answer is to keep it up to date and to customize your phone with the features you need.
