1. Download the existing XML template and make a copy in your PC.

2. Open the copy of XML and search the below code.

3. Replace the above entire code to the below and upload the XML into your Blogger.

So what have been changed?

1. The old code only shows your blog title. Vs. The new code shows the additional description.

Submit Your Blogger/FeedBurner Sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools

Submitting a Sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools provides Google about your site and posts. However I recently found the article "How do I create a Sitemap file?" from Google Webmaster Help Center that You don't need to submit your Sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools if you use a Blogger.

Even though the article says so, I decided to submit my Sitemap to Google becasue I am not 100% sure how it works and it does not cost or hurt me even if I submit it.

Here's how!

1. If you do not have Google Webmaster Tools account, you can register by visiting Google Webmaster Tools.

2. If you do not use a redirected custom feed such as FeedBurner, type "atom.xml" and click "Add General Web Sitemap" button.

3. If you do use a redirected custome feed such as FeedBurner, type "atom.xml?redirect=false".

Otherwise you will see "URL not allowed" error because the sitemap you have submitted to Google Webmaster Tools is actually redirecting to the FeedBurner feed URL not your site URL. And your Sitemap contains a URL that is not allowed based on the Sitemap's location.

How to submit more than 100 posts to Google Sitemap

ArpitNext has commented out - Thanks ArpitNext - that Google Sitemap refers the latest 25 posts from Blogger which I am not sure the exact number.

However there is a still way to submit your all of your posts.

If you have more than 100 posts and want to post all to Google Sitemap, add the below:

Below are reasons why you might not see Service Pack 1 on Windows Update:
Cause 1
You are already running Windows Vista SP1.

Cause 2
Windows Vista SP1 has not been released for the language of the language pack that you have installed.

Cause 3
Windows Service Pack Blocker Tool is used to block the delivery of Windows Vista SP1 from Automatic Updates or from Windows Update.

Cause 4

Microsoft: All Windows 7 Editions to Run on Netbooks

Microsoft Tuesday unveiled a plan to release six editions of Windows 7 and said all of them will run on a range of hardware, including netbooks.

However, the company is emphasizing two main SKUs (stock-keeping units) of the forthcoming OS -- Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional -- saying these are the ones most customers will buy, according to information posted on Microsoft's Web site.

With Windows 7, Microsoft hopes it will be easier for customers to decide which edition of the OS is right for them. By doing so, the company once again seems to be trying to learn from mistakes it made with the release of Windows Vista, premium versions of which had special hardware requirements that hindered customers' transition from XP and confused users as to which edition they should purchase.

When Microsoft released Vista, premium versions such as Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows Vista Home Premium did not run on many PCs that already were running Windows XP. Microsoft tried to give hardware partners and customers fair warning of this and through a controversial program had OEMs put stickers on new PCs to let customers know which version of Vista those machines could run.

Still, many customers did not feel Vista hardware requirements were communicated effectively and Microsoft is still embroiled in a class-action suit over that sticker program, called "Windows Vista Capable."

In addition to Home Premium and Professional, Windows 7 will come in the following editions that mirror Vista's SKUs: Windows 7 Starter; Windows 7 Home Basic; Windows 7 Enterprise; and Windows 7 Ultimate.

Microsoft is recommending either Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional for most of its customers, it said.

Windows 7 Home Premium is for the average user and Windows 7 Professional -- replacing Windows Vista Business -- is for small businesses and people who work at home but have to operate in an IT-managed or business environment with security and productivity concerns, the company said.

Windows 7 Starter is a limited-functionality version of the OS that will be available worldwide but only as a pre-install by OEMs (original equipment manufacturers). This expansion of its availability -- Vista Starter was only available in emerging markets -- led one blogger to surmise that Windows 7 Starter is the version Microsoft will push for the netbook market.

"This version will only be sold through PC makers to users," wrote Paul Thurrott on the popular SuperSite for Windows blog, which has a list of SKUs and the differences in functionality. "This suggests that netbook makers will choose this version, even in the US."

Windows 7 Enterprise is Microsoft's SKU for its enterprise customers, while PC enthusiasts that "want it all," according to Microsoft, should purchase Windows 7 Ultimate.

Like Vista, Windows 7 also will have Home Basic edition that will only be sold in emerging PC markets "for customers looking for an entry-point Windows experience on a full-size value PC," according to Microsoft.

Making all editions of Windows 7 available on small form-factor PCs, widely known as netbooks, is an especially strategic move for Microsoft, as the same was not true for Vista.

Netbooks, also called mini-notebooks because they are smaller than typical PCs, have become an important segment of the PC market, the overall growth of which has been stunted by the current global economic crisis. In fact, Microsoft blamed sales of netbooks partially for missing its financial guidance for its fiscal second-quarter earnings last month, saying the sale of these devices cut into the PC market.

Because of its hardware footprint, it is difficult to run Vista on netbooks, which mainly run XP or Linux. Having Windows 7 running on these devices will give users an upgrade path from XP and should put Microsoft on surer footing in that market.

Vista also had six SKUs, and features, functionality and hardware requirements differed among them.

This is also true of Windows 7 editions, with the premium versions having more features and functionality than the basic versions. However, Microsoft said it plans to remove some disparities between the different SKUs of Windows 7 by making them all a "superset of one another," so if people decide they want to upgrade from, for example, Home Premium to Professional, they won't lose any functionality from their previous version in that transition, it said.

"With Windows 7 there is a more natural progression from one edition to the next," Microsoft said.

Microsoft has targeted late this year or early next year for the release of Windows 7. The OS is currently in its first public beta, but Microsoft said last week there would be no beta 2, as there typically is with its software products. Instead, the next release of Windows 7 will be a nearly completed release candidate.

Apple Says Devices Were Infected During Tests; Anti-Virus Programs Can Fix Problem

For more than a month, some iPod music players have spread a computer worm to Windows computers and external drives connected to those computers, leaving them vulnerable to attacks from hackers.

The worm, which has been traced to a Windows computer used to test iPod software during manufacturing, affected less than 1 percent of the devices available for purchase after Sept. 12, said Greg Joswiak, Apple Computer Inc's vice president of iPod product marketing. It affected only computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system.

The problem has been fixed, Joswiak said. He would not say how many devices were affected. Apple has received fewer than 25 reports of the problem, he said.

Edward W. Felten, director of the Center for Information Technology Policy at Princeton University, said many Windows users may not know that their computers are compromised because the worm installs itself when infected iPods are connected to computers.

"This type of thing is a risk that follows from the fact that these are storage devices, but also that Windows is designed to accept programs from storage devices very easily," Felten said. "Twenty-five complaints translates into who knows how many people infected."

The worm goes by two names -- RavMonE.exe and W32/Rjump.worm -- and spreads to all storage devices connected to infected computers. It also opens a "backdoor" that can be used to gain access to the machines.

Apple did not recall infected iPods. The company said Windows users should be able to clean up the problem with up-to-date anti-virus software. Users should also scan removable storage devices that may have been connected to infected computers.

Hell froze over Wednesday. Pigs flew. And Apple Computer (APPL) for the first time unveiled software allowing Microsoft's (MSFT) Windows operating system to run on Apple's PCs.

That's a huge change for the iconoclastic PC maker, which has long shunned Windows even though it runs on more than 90% of PCs. Now Apple is moving toward the mainstream and easing its decades-long rivalry with Microsoft.

COMMENT: Does XP on Macs rock your world?

Apple has been on a three-year roll with the smash success of its iPod digital music player. But it remains a minor player in PCs, with just 4% of the U.S. market. Microsoft allies such as Dell and Hewlett-Packard dominate.

So it introduced free software that lets users of some new Apple Mac PCs run a version of Windows called XP. But it won't be easy, or cheap. Most customers will have to fork over about $200 to buy a copy of Windows. And Apple won't help with installation.

Still, says analyst Tim Bajarin at researcher Creative Strategies, the move is "very significant" for a company that has long marched to its own beat. Investors seemed to agree. Apple shares soared nearly 10%, closing at $67.21.

The new software, Boot Camp, makes Macs "even more appealing to Windows users considering making the switch," says Apple Senior Vice President Phil Schiller. But he emphasized that "Apple has no desire or plan to sell or support Windows."

Microsoft said in a statement, "Windows is a great operating system. We're pleased that Apple customers are excited about running it and that Apple is responding to meet the demand."

Apple has been telling consumers for years that anything they wanted to do on a Windows machine could be done with a Mac. It pointed to popular programs such as Microsoft's Office and Intuit's Quicken, available in both Windows and Mac formats.

But some other programs, such as some video games, are Windows-only. And many websites offer video with copy protection from Microsoft, preventing them from being viewed on Macs. They include MTV.com, ComedyCentral.com and Yahoo's music video offerings.

Aim is more customers

Apple is aiming for more customers like Jeff Prus, 35, a Windows user in New York City. Prus has long wanted a Mac. But he has stuck with Windows because his employer, American Express, uses it.

"I will definitely consider buying a Mac now that I can have the best of both worlds," says Prus. "I'm thrilled."

Some users already were making the switch Wednesday. Oliver Breidenbach, a software developer in Munich, Germany, installed Windows on an iMac. He said it took him about an hour and 20 minutes to complete the installation.

Getting Windows onto the new Macs was something he said he expected to see from a third-party developer — not Apple. "I just never thought Apple would do this," he said.

Wednesday's release doesn't end the 25-year rivalry between Apple and Microsoft.

Apple is not selling PCs with Windows already installed, as Microsoft partners Dell and Hewlett-Packard do. Instead, users must buy a Mac, then download Boot Camp from Apple's website. Then they must buy a copy of Windows XP and install it themselves. When they do so, they'll have two operating systems, Windows and Apple's Tiger.

But users can't simply switch back and forth between the two. Instead, they need to reboot the computer to use one or the other.

And while Windows programs will work on the Mac, the same can't be said for Mac programs in XP. Apple software such as photo-management program iPhoto and movie-editing tool iMovie will continue to be Apple-only.

Apple says it won't sell XP in its retail stores. And the tech support specialists in those stores called "Mac Geniuses" won't offer help.

For those reasons, "Millions of people aren't going to run out and buy Macs," says PC analyst Samir Bhavnani at researcher Current Analysis. Still, he says, "It could be an important first step toward making Apple more than just a niche player in the PC market."

Boot Camp is the latest move by Apple to become more mainstream in hopes of boosting revenue. Apple in January began selling computers with processors from chipmaker Intel. The processors, or computer "brains," are the same as those used in many Windows PCs. Apple had previously used specialty chips.

Apple is now converting its entire product line to Intel. For now, just the iMac and Mac Mini desktops and the MacBook Pro laptop are Intel-based. Apple says its remaining computer lines will switch over by the end of the year.

IPod paved the way

Apple's move to make Macs Windows compatible tracks the history of the iPod. The iPod worked only with Macs at first. But then Apple released a Windows-compatible version. Had Apple not done so, "The iPod would have been an afterthought," says equity analyst Charles Wolf at Needham and Co. The company would have sold a tenth of the iPods that it did, he says.

Apple went on to dominate digital music with such force that it now has a 70% market share of digital music devices, and iTunes is the No. 3 application — after Windows Media Player and RealPlayer — for music playback, says research firm Nielsen/NetRatings. ITunes' growth has been phenomeonal: up 349% in February from a year ago, with 18.5 million users, says Nielsen. For some of the Mac faithful, the whole move to Intel chips has been a bit of a body blow.

"It's really emotional for us," says Paul Carlin, a San Francisco software developer. "We've always felt that Macs were different, but now they're not. Some of the specialness of the Mac has disappeared."

Sam Aaron, a British doctoral candidate and blogger, says Mac fans will oppose Boot Camp. "But it's just fanatics performing their usual Windows hatred mania. In the past, they ranted about the release of iTunes for the PC, too."

Apple, founded in a Silicon Valley garage in 1976, once was a major PC maker before Microsoft changed the equation by selling its Windows software to all makers. Apple kept its software to itself.

The question of viruses

Now, virtually all businesses run Windows software. Apple is a minor player, focusing on education, home use and creative professionals such as graphic artists, photographers and architects.

Wolf says the Boot Camp move won't spur a widespread switch among corporate PC buyers. "(Tech) departments aren't going to change," he says.

But Rich Trouton, a Mac fan who blogs about Apple at the unaffiliated theappleblog.com, says they should. Apple Macs are known to be virtually virus free. If users could run Microsoft programs, he says, "but be able to skip the viruses and the spyware, that'd be a huge support burden that would be substantially lessened."

That could change with Mac users putting Windows on their computers, say security experts. Macs have been generally safe because there are so few that hackers haven't focused on them.

"When you're running Windows on a Mac, you're as vulnerable as any Windows user," says Larry Seltzer, security center editor at news site eWeek.com. "An interesting question is, would a malicious Windows program affect Mac files on the same computer? It's theoretically possible but extremely difficult to pull off and would reach a very small audience in the Mac market."

Still, Wolf predicts that by offering a way to get XP onto Macs, Apple's share of the home computer market will double, "if not triple, over time. This is an important, significant day for Apple. Apple has changed its religion."

Microsoft: Vista buyers to get free Windows 7

SEATTLE -- Prices for Microsoft's Windows 7 computer operating system will be largely in line with those for Vista.

In announcing prices Thursday, Microsoft Corp. says people who buy computers before the new system goes on sale in October will get free upgrades.

To drum up demand among people who aren't in the market for a new PC, Microsoft is taking limited pre-orders, selling some for as little as $50.

People who buy Windows Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate computers starting Friday can contact their manufacturer for a free upgrade when Windows 7 becomes available.

Microsoft is hoping Windows 7's debut will be much smoother than Vista's. Vista was plagued by delays, and many people complained it was sluggish and didn't work with existing devices and programs.

Microsoft’s Ballmer: Windows 7 is nearly final

LAS VEGAS —

Microsoft Corp.’s next version of the Windows operating system is almost ready for prime time.

That’s one message Chief Executive Steve Ballmer was delivering on the eve of the official opening of the International Consumer Electronics Show.

The world’s largest software maker was also announcing deals to make its Live Search programs the default search engines on more personal computers and mobile phones. And it showed off a new version of its Ford Sync in-car technology that folds in the voice-operated directory service TellMe, which Microsoft bought in 2007.

For years, the opening keynote at CES belonged to Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates, whose status as industry pioneer justified the sweeping visions of the future he’d build into his speech. Gates passed the mantle on when he stepped down from day-to-day operations at Microsoft last summer, and Wednesday marked Ballmer’s first time making the high-profile address.

Ballmer was due to announce that a nearly final “beta” test version of Windows 7 is ready for regular PC users to download and tinker with.

The new operating system — which could be available for purchase on PCs within a year — uses much of the same underlying technology as its predecessor, the much-maligned Vista. But Windows 7 aims to resolve many problems PC users had with Vista. For instance, Microsoft pledges to make it easier to install peripheral devices and to have the software pump out fewer annoying warnings and notifications.

Ballmer is hoping to boost the number of people using Microsoft’s Live Search engine, which ranks well behind Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc. in popularity, through a deal with PC maker Dell Inc. Dell will put a special Live Search browser toolbar and Windows Live programs, including Microsoft’s instant-messaging application, on PCs that it sells. That deal replaces a relationship between Dell and Google.

Microsoft also has formed a partnership with Verizon Wireless that calls for the Live Search tools to be added to all Verizon cell phones in the U.S. that can access the Internet.

Windows 7 Family Pack

Kristian Kenney spotted an interesting clause in the Microsoft Software License Terms of Windows 7 Home Premium hinting at family licensing packs for that edition of Windows 7. Here is the new clause in the Windows 7 Home Premium terms:

2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS.
a. One Copy per Computer. Except as allowed in Section 2 (b) below, you may install one copy of the software on one computer
. That computer is the “licensed computer.”

b. Family Pack. If you are a “Qualified Family Pack User”, you may install one copy of the software marked as “Family Pack” on three computers in your household for use by people who reside there. Those computers are the “licensed computers” and are subject to these license terms. If you do not know whether you are a Qualified Family Pack User, visit go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?Linkid=141399 or contact the Microsoft affiliate serving your country.

It basically states that Microsoft will be offering a Windows 7 Home Premium Family Pack which can be installed on up to three computer systems in the household. There is no word on the pricing yet. Ed Bott speculates that Microsoft will match or even surpass Apple’s Family Pack which sells for $199 and allows users to install the operating system five times. The Family Pack is only offered for the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system and not Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Ultimate. It is also likely that businesses are not allowed to use this version.

The interesting question is definitely about the price of the Family Pack edition. Offering it for $199 or $189 as Ed Bott suggest would mean that it would be offered at roughly the same price as the normal Windows 7 Home Premium edition (according to Amazon.com who sell the edition for $199). It is therefor likely that the price will be higher than $199 unless a requirement would be a Windows Vista or Windows XP operating system license.

New in Firefox 3.5

Mozilla Firefox version 3.5 will be a major new release (it’s due out at the end of June) with a stack of new features. I’ve just started beta testing the latest release candidate (3.5b4) and already noticing improved performance compared with version 3.1, although it’s still not as fast as Google Chrome according to independent reports. The trade-off there is that Chrome doesn’t yet support the various tools and addons I use, such as NoScript and various Greasemonkey scripts.

Firefox 3.5 does seem to perform better than previous versions and didn’t take long to start up from a cold start. When I saved the draft of this page it seemed to refresh within a split second, whereas on 3.1, I’d normally wait several seconds before I could carry on writing or editing in Wordpress. That’s a much appreciated boost for me.

Mozilla says improvements are partly due to its new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine. They are also due to improvements in the Gecko layout engine, which include speculative parsing for faster content rendering. Firefox has also improved security and privacy features, including the now obligatory “Private Browsing Mode,” (equivalent to Chrome’s Incognito tab).

“Geo” is the current buzz word of the day and Firefox now has the ability to provide location aware browsing using web standards for geolocation. Additionally, it supports new web technologies such as HTML5 video and audio elements, downloadable fonts and other new CSS properties, JavaScript query selectors, HTML5 offline data storage for applications, and SVG transforms, for those interested in the technical aspects.

If your web browser is mission critical, don’t download it just yet, this is a beta, well officially it’s a release candidate, which is like the final, final beta. Either way, before you install, make sure you’ve backed up your favorites, bookmarks, settings etc.

rundll32.exe is an internal program used by Windows to run yet other internal programs known as DLLs (dynamic link libraries) which are needed by the operating system and your programs (Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer, OpenOffice, Thunderbird, Firefox, or whatever to function). It loads up the DLL into memory and then triggers specific functions from the DLL module.
