Pros: What do you like about 2007 Dodge Dakota?
I the room in the '07 Dakota isn't that of a full size, but it's more than any other truck in its class. I went from an '05 ext cab to a '07 4 door when my daughter was born, and very happy with it. I can pack all my hunting or hiking gear in the cab easily, or a stroller and baby seat quite nicely. the power for the truck is well balanced. The four wheel drive is surprising, there have been several times where I knew I was stuck, but the truck just pulled right through it. And it doesn't even have all terrain tires. It's also easy for my wife to drive as well, seeing as how I hear most wives complain about their husbands truck being too big.

Cons: How would you improve 2007 Dodge Dakota?
The only thing I would change is the bed construction. Seems to me like its a bit flimsy, and doesn't stand up too well to moderate abuse. However I guess that's nothing a spray in liner wouldn't help.

If you're looking for a well rounded 4 door vehicle, that isn't "too much" in any area, the '07 Dakota is your vehicle.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Dodge Dakota?
This is my second Dodge Dakota, both have had a V8, 4x4 and quad cabs. I like the comfort, style and both towed great. However, this will be my last one.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Dodge Dakota?
I have intermittent power steering, dealer replace steering box, but was not the problem. Now I rarely have P/S and worst when it gets cold. I am very disappointed in dealer, I have had three other people drive the truck and everyone of them stated that there is a problem. I should not have this problem with a 2006 with 41,000.00 miles. ALSO, DO NOT BUY EXTENDED WARRANTY NAMED EASY CARE.

2006 Dodge Dakota Review:
Although overall I like my truck, it is very frustrating to me concerning the P/S. To me it is probably dangerous to drive considering the steering does not return when turning corners, one moment you can drive at ease with one hand but not knowing when your going to need two.

The mpg is absolutely terrible, even after a complete tune up...9.9 mpg.

Pros: What do you like about 2007 Dodge Dakota?
Truck has lots of room, for four people for longer trips. Has good gas mileage, handles like a sport car, great towing power, longer bed for golf clubs and other items.

This is my second one, I had a 2002 previously, put 115k miles and only spent 90.00 that wasn't routine maintenance.

Cons: How would you improve 2007 Dodge Dakota?
I bought mine used and had been ordered special with heavy duty springs all the way around, 4 leaf's in rear.

Harsher ride than my 2002. I will change that eventually.

I did put the chip in it and a soft toneau cover. The gas mileage in hilly 100 plus temperatures in Calif is 22 highway and 16 city running hi air conditioning. I'm sure 24 mpg is possible in flatter Terrane.

2007 Dodge Dakota Review:
I've never understood the pricing by the dealers of Dakota's especially in California. You never see an add on one, never discounts, always low inventory. The big trucks get massive discounts off similar retail stickers. It seems you have to buy one used to get a deal. I can by the full size one any day for less than a Dakota, which won't fit in my garage. Nobody else has a truck that size with V/8 power, which I don't count the Ford Explorer track as real competition.

Decent power.
Good interior space for 4 adults.
Nice styling.
6 disc CD is a plus.

Rides rough.
Tougher rotors, had problems with the tie rod.

The cruise control sucks. When you go up hill not very smooth.
I have 17 factor wheels I have to have them rebalanced before I go on trips.
Would like a bigger bed.

I like my 4.7 engine. I like the looks and the room of my quad cab. I have had to replace door lock opener and they are a bit pricey.

I like the look, 4wd, not too big but not too small.

Better gas mileage, better performance parts.
Also figure what is problem with the transmission problem (shifts hard).
Also why the ball joints on mine went out on the truck with 18,211 miles on it. I never beat the truck, drive it to work and that is it.

2005 Dodge Dakota Review:
Bought my Dakota in June 2005. No problems up until about 2 months ago (April 2009) when the front end started shaking (violently I guess you could describe it). Any speeds past 45 mphs and when I brake the truck starts shaking. Even if you gradually ease into braking it starts shaking. I assumed it was the brakes because it had the original brakes since I bought it. So I changed the calipers, rotors and pads figuring it would solve the problem. Still nothing has changed and no one has any idea what is causing it. Perhaps Dodge (now owned by Fiat) should spend a little more money for some engineers that know what they are doing. Other than that it was a good buy!

2005 Dodge Dakota Review:
I had the same problem as everyone else with my truck starting to shake/vibrate when I reached highway speeds. Did a lot of research on the web to learn that Chrysler can't figure out the problem. I am getting close to fixing it myself, and have narrowed it down to the parking brake on my truck. If I don't engage the parking brake, the shake does not occur. Something must be going on with the parking brake not fully dis-engaging when you pull the release. Since I've stopped using my parking brake, I have not noticed the shaking/vibration at speed. My next step will be to take the rear brakes apart and see if I can lubricate the parking brake enough to make it usable again.
