Lanmark have succeeded in making it into the 2010 MSP Mentor top 100 list, which highlights IT managed service providers and benchmarks all the competitors in the market place.

They are a media organisation designed to be the ultimate guide to managed services, and are the leading global destination for MSP’s. They’ve made it their mission to ignore all gossip, speculation, and vendor hype to deliver in-depth and entirely factual analysis of the evolving managed services provider industry.

One of their well known efforts is the annual Top 100 list. This ranks MSP’s from all over the world not just on their managed services based revenue, but also the way in which they use managed services and technology to improve both their offering and customer experience.

Microsoft has launched a trial product to connect users to the people and places they care about especially when crisis hits.

The company said the main inspiration for Vine came from Hurricane Katrina.  The product is designed to keep family and friends in touch when other communications fail or falter.

The Seattle Times has described this hyper local, personalised message and alert system as “Twitter + Facebook on steroids”.

In a controversial move, software giant Microsoft have added Internet Explorer 8 to their Windows Update Service as a critical update.  This means that it will force Windows XP users to automatically update to the latest version if they have set Windows Update to automatic synchronization.
