&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/YumjcPFlDvNzmL-WMnJ1dkx1hhM/1/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/YumjcPFlDvNzmL-WMnJ1dkx1hhM/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;There are 3 forms of writings in Japanese, and are known as&lt;div&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;Hiragana　&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Katakana　&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Kanji　&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Hiragana　ひらがな　平仮名&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Hiragana is the standard form of writing for Japanese words and phrases.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Katakana　カタカナ　片仮名&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Katakana form of writing are used for English words that are translated to Japanese. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Example is Television is known as テレビ　Terebi &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;*Note: The letters (alphabets) for Hiragana and Katakana are totally different.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Kanji　かんじ　漢字&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The Japanese also use Chinese characters in their writings, and these are known as Kanji.
