Nothing excites me more than women pioneering in fields where we were left Forgotten, today I give you, Angel Namshali of Dunia Camp!

The daughter of a poor subsistence farmer, Namshali has established the only safari resort in the world run entirely by women, guards, chefs, waiters, you name it, all women! Last week, the camp climbed to second spot on TripAdvisor’s list of the best places to stay out of the 128 in the Serengeti.

‘I never went to university’, ‘I would have loved to. I did well at school, I won a scholarship to secondary school and was selected to go to university but my parents couldn’t afford it. We were six children. My dad sold a cow to try to raise the funds to send me to University in Dar es Salaam but he needed to pay my younger brothers’ school fees too. There was no money left over to send me to university; I cried for weeks.’

We started our all-women camp in 2016. It wasn’t easy at first, and some of the women struggled with living in the bush, but I started training them about living here and how to live close to the animals. After three months, everyone was ready for it!

Whenever people from other camps come here, they are amazed at how well we have done with only women. It helps to show other companies that employing women can make a positive change to the camp, and now nearby camps are starting to employ more women.

What’s the one thing you strive for when it comes to the guest’s experience?

For me the first impression is important: how do I welcome my guests. Hospitality is in my heart, so I also look at how I host my guests because I am looking after them in my home.

Wikipedia is the world’s largest online and user-generated encyclopaedia, and its content has the potential to colour our view of the world. But women are under-represented there, like in many other parts of society. We want to change this. Sweden is the first country in the world with a feminist foreign policy. The #Wikigap initiative and event is about realizing this policy in both word and deed. Sweden in Tanzania will bring the internet a little bit closer to being gender equal by organizing #WikiWomenTz, an effort to give Wikipedia more artucles written by and about Tanzanian women.Wikipedia is the world’s largest online and user-generated encyclopedia. Knowledge is power, and Wikipedia has the potential to colour our view of the world. But there is great imbalance between men and women on the website, like in society at large.Ninety per cent of those who add content to Wikipedia are men. There are four times more articles about men than women. The figures vary regionally, but no matter how you look at it, the picture is clear: the information about women is less extensive than that about men. Regardless of which language version of Wikipedia you read. We want to change this.#WikiGap is an event during which people around the world will gather to add more content to Wikipedia about women figures, experts and role models in various fields. With Sweden’s embassies as hosts, we are increasing the representation of women on Wikipedia. #WikiGap has already been planned in more than 30 countries, from Sweden to Vietnam, Egypt and Colombia.The Swedish embassy in Tanzania will of course do our part and contribute to articles being written about and by Tanzanian women. We will try to give Wikipedia more articles about Tanzanian women who are sport stars, scientists, tech entrepreneurs, politicians and active in parts of society traditionally dominated by men.This campain aims at highlighting women as professionals in Tanzania, by narrating stories of their lives challenges and trials they faced on their way to their successful careers that they are right now. Using the hashtag #WikiWomenTz we will gather suggestions to extend our list of Tanznaian women who deserve a page on Wikipedia but do not yet have one. We have engaged a bunch of talented women who will then write the articles and others to coach and help these authors in the process. I enjoy Mondays.

I do,

I enjoy the morning green tea accompanied by a fruit or a chapatti depending on my mood, after a long weekend, the smell of papers and new opportunities the week has to bring sends me to a frenzy.

Someone once told me, if you hate Mondays, you don’t like your job. So this is a call for you next year. To do what you love.

I’m trying something new next year…setting my priorities and sticking to them, So I'm gonna help you too if you let me...couple things you need to do next year...I turned twenty something (yes Im not telling you my age, no , never naah) a few days ago and I decided my time will not be wasted…More Blogging, More radio, More LOOOVE, More family, all pre planned and documented.

- Next year please try, write down every thing you want to do and work hard to achieve it, set little goals that will help you reach your big goals.

- Do everything you you ever wanted to do. DO IT. Stop procrastinating...except illegal stuff, unless you want to know what a jail cell looks like of course

-Learn the art of shutting up! God I need this one, even when someone crosses you...shut up! Dont talk about them or to them. Everywhere even on social media...I could go on for ages on twitter when I'm trying to get my point across, no one is ever listening in an argument I have learned....try to calmly walkaway and teach people when they are less angry.

-Read More! Learn new things everyday

-Make friends with people you look upto, surround yourself with people who inspire you
-Learn the art of forgiving without needing an apology. You will be so much happier, stop seeking closure.

And most importantly. PRAY. I think I have people slowly running away from me because I keep emphasizing the importance of prayer in their lives every time we talk...

My Brother in-law is an a amazing photographer that made sure I look amazing in all angles, I actually got a lil chubby stopped counting calories…no gym next year, just home workouts *shrug *, I just hate sweating while people are watching really.…Does anyone know if those round butt exercises on youtube actually work? … *logs off*

By the way this was the hardest thing I had to do…I’m not a poser…so I was traditionally nyakyusa in all of them…tarmac, flowers…u name it..Happy Festive Season!

I often see Masai Material being used by Versace, H&M, Louis Vuitton as inspiration, its beautiful to see actual Masai designs being crafted by Masai women in Tanzania being used in the Fashion industry and showcased in Fashion weeks across the world and these women actually ripping benefits of it....hand clap to ALAMA!

Elisabeta Tudor,Nini Gollong, along with their business partner Rabea Schaefers, and their jewelry brand Alama: culture-to-wear. Tudor explains, “We didn’t want to put a regular fashion label on it. The term expresses our willingness to promote culture through fashion—in our specific case, the Masai culture of Tanzania.” Their collection is crafted by a collective of 20 Masai women employed and empowered by the NGO Africa Amini Alama has been given a boost by a fashion industry favorite. This year, Tudor and Gollong have partnered with French fashion group Faith Connexion,Faith Connexion collaborated with Alama on the accessories for the Spring 2017 show, exhibited a selection in their showroom during Paris Fashion Week, and now, they’re stocking additional Alama jewelry in their recently opened New York store.
Tudor emphasizes that the designs remain true to the Masai culture. “We don’t change the original jewelry pieces or get inspired by them to create new, more ‘fashionable’ ones,” she points out. “What you see is an authentic bit of Masai culture and your purchase of a piece, or willingness to just talk about it, helps promote the Masai culture.”
Ekaely Palango, the brand manager who oversees the Masai collective in Tanzania, is also excited about the potential awareness that the collaboration might bring to the women and their craft. “I am proud to be a Masai woman,” she says. “This project can help many Masai women artisans, because they are able to make more money than they normally would and therefore, can use their salaries to pay student fees for schooling and give money back to their families. Also, since I got involved with Alama, I have had many more women artisans get in touch with me to ask to join the collective.” Each piece of jewelry is unique and handcrafted according to the artisan’s mood or feeling. The colors and shapes of each piece can reflect things like social status, gender, or age; white beads stand for purity, red symbolize bravery, and green represent health. All of the materials used are locally sourced and eco-friendly (recycled plastic and glass beads included).- VOGUE

As I have made clear so often in the past with every fiber of my being, I embrace my natural heritage and despite having grown up thinking light skin and straight, silky hair were the standards of beauty, I now know that my dark skin and kinky, coily hair are beautiful too. Being featured on the cover of a magazine fulfills me as it is an opportunity to show other dark, kinky-haired people, and particularly our children, that they are beautiful just the way they are. I am disappointed that @graziauk invited me to be on their cover and then edited out and smoothed my hair to fit their notion of what beautiful hair looks like. Had I been consulted, I would have explained that I cannot support or condone the omission of what is my native heritage with the intention that they appreciate that there is still a very long way to go to combat the unconscious prejudice against black women's complexion, hair style and texture. #dtmh

I always wanted it to happen, but it was something I never expected.I got an email from a modelling agency. They said they were interested in having me and they had me call them. And they just set up tons of interviews and it just went on from there.”

It was while wandering through the festival on Friday October 21 that Miss Yai bumped into photographer Steve Hall, who was taking pictures for his fashion website The SUNK. He told the student he thought she should be a model and she posed for a few pictures for him.When Mr Hall posted the photograph to his Instagram account it soon started to garner widespread attention and has since been liked over 14 thousand times on the social media platform. The student's own Instagram following also began to mushroom in the wake of the post and rose from 300 to over 50,000 this week.As a child she dreamed of becoming a model and avidly watched the hit show America’s Next Top Model with her sister.But she feared she would not be able to make it in such an overcrowded industry and decided to instead study biochemistry at Plymouth State University, with a view to eventually becoming a doctor.
