La Partenope has the feel of a family-run Neapolitan restaurant, and yet somehow manages to be both laid-back and homely, and sleek and classy, at the same time. The restaurant has built up a solid reputation under owner and chef Paolo Tersigni, who makes great use of traditional and imported Italian ingredients. A starter portion of fresh ravioli stuffed with ricotta and rocket and served with warm butter, sage and grated nutmeg is lip-smackingly good, while a main of Bisteca Portofoglio – char-grilled sirloin steak stuffed with pancetta, rocket and scamorza cheese – is utterly satisfying. However, it’s fish and seafood lovers who are spoiled for choice here, with a wide selection of both starters and mains featuring langoustines, lobster, scallops, bass, bream, tuna and swordfish – all served in different but sympathetic ways, or all served together in a huge special of Grigliata Di Pesce. The dessert menu changes weekly, with all of the home-made desserts being exclusive to La Partenope, and once diners have worked their way through the interesting regional wine list they can retire to the separate bar area to start work on the decent range of digestivos as well.
