Village Square Announces 2017 Third Thursday Event Dates - First Third Thursday Car Show and Art Festival of the Year Kicks Off January 19 at 5:30 p.m. Features Operation Boots and Booties Military Baby Shower Supporting Families of Deployed Service Men and Women LAS VEGAS - Village Square kicks-off the new year with its first Third Thursday Car Show and Art Festival of 2017 on Thursday, January 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with lots of antique and classic cars, local vendors and fun free family activities. Military families will be at Village Square raising awareness and accepting new baby item donations for Operation Boots and Booties, the largest Military Baby Shower in the country for expecting and new military servicewomen and spouses residing in Southern Nevada. Village Square is a 250,000 square-foot open-air dining, retail, entertainment and professional office space center located at 9400 W. Sahara Ave. and Ft. Apache Rd. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12101's largest event in Las Vegas is the Boots and Booties Military Baby Shower to be held at the end of this month right here in Las Vegas. Village Square will be helping get the word out along with Veterans of Foreign Wars representatives and expecting of deployed service men about the need for volunteers and donations. As a 501 c 3 non-profit all donations go directly to women serving in the military and spouses. Below is a list of needed new baby items that may be brought to Village Square on Jan. 19 just ahead of the baby shower: Diapers (size 1-5), wipes, baby bath tubs, bath toys, bottles, bibs, towels, washcloths, blankets, baby clothes (newborn-18 months), baby shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Also at this month’s Car Show and Arts Festival Chicago Brewing Company’s 1937 custom Ford beer truck will be on hand providing beer tastings for a good cause as its proceeds benefit selected local non-profits. The truck’s body is completely custom while keeping with the classic styling of the old style Ford Cab and houses a tap system capable of pouring a total of ten different draft beers. It will be in good company with other antique, classic and hot rod vehicles at the monthly event. The award-winning microbrewery brews its beer on promises at Village Square and has won numerous awards. Toys 4 Smiles, a local non-profit that hand-makes and gives free wooden toy car and trucks to children needing a smile will also be at Village Square. Last year, Toys 4 Smiles handed out more than 500 toys to children attending Village Square Third Thursdays events. Third Thursday will also offer free activities for children including face-painting, balloon art and more. For the grown-ups a classic and hot rod car show along with local arts and crafts vendors and music will also be highlights of the event. On Sunday, Oct. 8, Carnevino Italian Steakhouse will embark upon a culinary journey from Italy to China for a Marco Polo-inspired dining experience. Chef Shirley Chung and Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group’s Director of Operations, Pacific Zach Allen will co-host the next guest chef dinner. Both Chung and Allen were part of Carnevino’s original opening team in 2008.

Mirroring Marco Polo’s adventures from Italy to China, this dinner combines influences from Chinese and Italian cuisine. The multi-course menu features Asian-inspired comfort food such as scallion pancakes and duck wonton paired with traditional Italian items like carpaccio and Carta di Musica.

On Friday, October 20, the 22 Warriors Foundation will hold its first golf tournament hosted by the Nevada Republican Men’s Club at the Siena Golf Club located at 10575 Siena Monte Avenue. The donations raised during the tournament will provide funding for training and providing therapy dogs to improve and save the lives of Veterans in our community. Registration for the event begins at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast and a silent auction following. The “Shot Gun” start will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will include a four-person scramble. Players are encouraged to sign up as an individual or as a team, with a cost of $175 per person or $700 per foursome, which includes lunch, a raffle, and prizes. The American Experience has been a boundless source of inspiration for art in all its forms. This Veterans Day weekend NBT celebrates that history with three dynamic pieces of Classic Americana. The program will begin with George Balanchine’s Serenade, his first ballet choreographed in America and one of his most visually arresting and emotionally stirring. Set to Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, Balanchine’s lyrical, ethereal choreography will leave you breathless. Following will be an NBT Company Premiere, Paul Taylor’s Company B. This jiving journey back to World War II embraces with gusto all the merriment and sacrifice intertwined in everyday American life. Taylor’s masterful contemporary choreography is coupled with iconic recordings from The Andrews Sisters, making Company B a dancing-in-your-seat delight. Closing the program with a high energy splash is another NBT Company Premiere, Balanchine’s rollicking Western Symphony, a carefree tale of a dusty Wild West town filled with rambunctious cowboys and free spirited dance hall girls ready for a night of fun. This unique holiday celebration has become known as a premier Las Vegas holiday event of the season and, more importantly, is the largest fundraising event for the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada.
