The Clark County Shooting Park is now offering an Intro to Trap & Skeet Shooting Basics Clinic every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Shotgun Center. The American Cancer Society’s national signature fundraising event, Relay For Life, will take place in 10 communities, valley-wide beginning April 15, 2011 and concluding May 22, 2011.

This event is a GREAT opportunity to involve your colleagues, families and friends. Relay For Life teams are made up of 10-15 participants who will take turns walking around a track for 12-16 hours. Participants will set up campsites along the track while enjoying entertainment, food & prizes. With hundreds of people at each Relay site, this is an outstanding networking venue and place to build employee morale!

Cancer survivors walk the Opening Lap to celebrate their victory against this disease. Relay For Life’s Luminaria Ceremony takes place after sundown, honoring the community’s cancer survivors and remembering those lost to the disease.

The award-winning Faith Lutheran Theatre Company is set to take audiences on a 60s flashback with the eight-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Hairspray. Six performances of this fun-filled, high-energy stage production will begin Friday, May 6 at 7 p.m. and run through Sunday, May 15 at 4 p.m. at the school’s Chapel/Performing Arts Center, located at 2015 S. Hualapai Way in Summerlin.

Set in 1960s Baltimore, Hairspray is the story of “pleasantly plump” teenager Tracy Turnblad, whose biggest dream is to dance on The Corny Collins Show. When Tracy lands a role on the popular TV program, she not only becomes a celebrity overnight but also launches a campaign to racially integrate the show.

Faith Lutheran’s Hairspray will also be an exciting collaboration with Signature Productions (recently named Las Vegas’ Outstanding Theatre Troupe by the Las Vegas Review Journal), which in the set designs. With over 40 students in the cast and over 30 students comprising the technical crew, the production will also feature completely original costume designs. In addition, on May 13, the school will host a very special Alumni Night, in which all Faith Lutheran alumni are invited to watch the show and participate in a group photo.

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, will welcome Marlee Matlin, Academy Award-winning actress and activist, as the featured speaker to its 6th Annual Gala Dinner on Saturday, May 7 at 6 p.m. at Aria Resort Casino, CityCenter, Las Vegas. Matlin will be joined by HRC’s President Joe Solmonese and an expected audience of more than 500 attendees. This year’s event theme, “Be Part of Equality,” underscores the determination and commitment by Nevada community members to achieve the goal of equality for all.

Ticket prices range from $250-$275. Las Vegas members of HRC’s Federal Club can purchase tickets for $150-$175. All Gala attendees are also able to get up to 35% off select CIRQUE DU SOLEIL tickets the weekend of the Gala. Tickets can be purchased online at lasvegas.hrc.org.

”This year we celebrate the amazing struggle and ultimately successful repeal of the military's Don't ask Don't Tell policy. HRC members and supporters are what helped make the repeal possible. Each year, more than 7,500 people in Las Vegas participate in March for Babies to show their support of the March of Dimes mission. March for Babies events also take place in Reno/Sparks, Carson City and Elko. March for Babies is the largest fundraising event for March of Dimes, with more than 100 local and national companies contributing toward the day when all babies will be born healthy.

March for Babies is a way for people to show that enough is enough. We need to halt premature births, birth defects and infant mortality.

Attorneys from the law firm of Holland & Hart's Las Vegas office will provide legal counseling to Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce members. The firm's lawyers will provide counseling on commercial business transactions, employment matters, contract law, litigation, intellectual property law, bankruptcy and tax, among other areas. These sessions will not address divorce, child custody, Chapter 13 bankruptcy or Home Foreclosures.

The sessions will be provided monthly from 6:00 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 7:50 p.m. Members will be asked to complete a simple questionnaire before meeting with the lawyers. This service is being provided as a member benefit at no additional cost.

Miller developed the concept of the Nevada Business Portal to facilitate a one stop shop where entities incorporated in the State of Nevada could seamlessly transact all their state business without having to visit several different agencies. This important tool will allow for streamlined entity formation, the payment of the annual business license and other business-related transactions online.

Consider that a paid business coach might cost a business owner as much as $100-200 per hour. As a Chamber member this service is free!

SCORE, the Corp of Retired Business Executives, is teaming with the Chamber to bring you new opportunities to get assistance in growing and improving your business.

As an added service, SCORE executives will send a team of two or three executives, with experience in your area of business, onsite to your business to help you create new opportunities for growth in these difficult economic times or give you guidance on new funding available through the various stimulus programs the administration is providing. Again this service is free to our members.

One hour counseling is available on the first and third Wednesdays of each month throughout the year at the Chamber Offices in Town Square.
