I wonder if anyone still visit this blog.

I don't visit quite often either.

I have lost the interest to blog. Well, not entirely. Occasionally I conjured up an essay that I would like to share here, but every time I've done driving or showering, I've lost all memories. So, didn't get the chance to blog it down. I have a lot of thoughts. Many thoughts that I would like to share.

Maybe because the fear of working world stumbling upon my journals has stopped me from writing anything down.

Perhaps, it's about time to delete the blog. Oh did I mentioned it many times before? Yes, I did. But, what waste! It has been a part of my life. It saw me through thick and thin. I have friends reading it, making friends in the social media world, having friend's crazy girl friends stalking the blog, having ex bfs stalking the blog, and many many more.

Then I lost all interest.

Why? Maybe my new life has gotten the better out of it? Wait, I lost interest because I find micro-blogging was much fun-ner. Then my new life gotten the better out of Twitter.

I want to delete and start a new. You think?

The second love of my life!

I have my first love. It is Teddy. He is way back in Malaysia. Old, blind, grumpy old man, who is about 12 years old now. Skin problem is crazy. Got back up from tick paralysis I suppose. Lucky him. Lucky me.

Couldn't get him over without being unfair to him. Unlucky me.

It's funny how we've always used 'Dog is man's best friend' when dog knows knows no gender! They only know who is the pack leader! And in this case, I'm the boss!

I love Snowy. Teddy is awesome. But I swear that I will train Snowy better because I have the experience already. I love Teddy. Both have different personalities. Funny how similar they are but yet very distinguishably different!

Teddy is handsome good looking where else Snowy is cute good looking. Teddy is more macho and Snowy is more soft. Teddy is entire and Snowy is not. What is entire? Haha, desexed vs not desexed.

Teddy is taller but Snowy is shorter but longer in lenght, both weight almost the same. Both are male!

Both have their own weaknesses!

I love them both.

It has been ages since my last post! Almost a year...perhaps?

Oh well! Somehow Google managed to switch something on the Domain Hosting and whatsoever that I've lost the link to my own domain. The domain still belongs to me, just the 'pointing' to the domain was broken.

Took me awhile to get the setting right back up. Need to do a lot of research. Google wasn't really helping. Plus, I am not such a geek in Domain / website set up either. LOL.

How have I been? I have been active in Twitter-land. But not quite actively tweeting anymore. Maybe a few tweets daily?

I am active in Instagram. Love how they have included an Instagram Profile for users lately. And we can finally COMMENT !!! Check my site out www.instagram.com/chewak.

Other than gotten married. Yes finally done and dusted all those traditional registration of 300 people who I might not remember now. Freaking out with house problem here in Melbourne. Our house has too many cracks and issues. Engaging builders to deal with it. Luckily under warranty! And we have a new addition to our family!!!! yay!!!!!! Well......... it has four legs. *tsk*

Life in 2011..

So many things have happened since the last post.

I took down this blog, thinking I shouldn't continue with it and may also create a new blog just for blogging. I might eventually do it. Some of you who visits sometimes here may found it shocking to see the blog missing. You might be shock once again in future as I am still thinking of 'transferring'. Been assigned back to the same project and it was pretty full on. Happy to know that I am able to pull through the two weeks testing and the project managed to get on from it successfully. Going Live right on the New Year! God Bless!

I have gone through my wedding ceremony, finally done and dusted. A wedding ceremony that is more for our parents than us. Traditionally, Chinese couple requires to go through a wedding banquet dinner with the family, relatives and friends just to show them that the couple is officially married. A legal document or registration done previously is nothing to this custom. A wedding ceremony is also to show respect to the family & relatives. Basically, it is all about them and not us. We are merely the doll-ed up puppet in expensive clothes, makeup and hairstyle that show up on that night to make sure everyone sees us together walking down the so called aisle.

Went back Malaysia for 3 weeks to prepared for our wedding. It was pretty stressful and full on! It was like a semi project that requires heaps of project management skills. There are so many things that we've wanted to do and yet it has to be within the budget, and time is running out on us. We went back to run the 'project' within 2 weeks when everyone needs 6 months to do it. What a stress!!

However, I am happy to say that, it is my dream wedding! It is something that I've always wanted and I have do my parents proud of it. I am happy that I have my BFFs with me the whole day. There are times when we reached an age to find out who our true friends are and honest to God the ones that stuck with you till the end, who joined the many happiness moments in your life and be there with you through the downs, are keepers!

Everything was so beautiful on that day and things have gone so smoothly, and on time! Such an experience!! I am happy to know and learn that my own relatives have not complained about anything on my wedding event (which most Chinese does really well with).

Of course with so many happy moments, there are moments where you will want to kill somebody. And on that day, sadly to say, I would like to give a good smack on the head of someone. This person is not only inconsiderate but selfish and immature. Such a disappointment.

In between all the happy moments, I had to handle some family issues as well. What a mess! With the stress of the on-going wedding planning and handling the family issues, I am so glad that I came out of it SANE and not turn into some Bride-zilla!!

Thinking back of 2011 events:-

I am more positive this year compared to last year. Last year was a year for me to learn to adjust and adapt to the new culture. This year is a year that I build my new life and moving forward to another phase.

Next year resolutions? I must say, there are a lot of things to build (our own home, career, life, etc). However, I would want to save up more money to bring my families over for a few good trips as well as making sure I will be more initiative to find my friends to hang out in Melbourne. Perhaps, making amends with some friends who I have lost touch with or ended the friendship amicably. Never too late to find out if I can mend the bridge of friendship!

What about yours?

Happy New Year 2012. Hopefully the world will not end on us as predicted / rumoured!

Career, Marriage and House

There is a saying that goes "you can't have three life changing events happening at one time". Three life changing events refers to a change of career (could be changing job, promotion, demotion, relocation, etc), getting / planning for wedding and moving house or renovation of some sort.

I am having two of the three running parallel at the moment. And, I am anticipating of the third one coming.

I am making plans for the wedding. Yes, yours truly is finally "wanted" LOL. We also have been having some issues with our house of 2 years old, getting cracks almost everywhere. Seems like the house is settling down on the soil but the recent wet weather might have "moved" it. We've contacted Metricon and they claimed that it is due to our un-finished (or more like not started) landscaping at our backyard. So, we've started our landscaping event.

New iPad 2

I've tried buying iPad 2 everywhere in the mall or shops that sells iPad 2 but either it's all sold out and need to wait for the next batch or pre-order it and wait for gazillion years for it.

So I went online and ordered it. Best part is I can engrave!!! It's free!

I've ordered one for myself and BH. We engraved it with anniversary messages. Both iPad arrives perfectly on time as stated, 3 weeks to deliver.

I was pretty much hyperventilating after receiving news from BH that the iPad has arrived. I couldn't concentrate at work because I simply couldn't stop thinking of it.

Did you get one??? Hehehe...

Birthdays

It was so long time ago when we were young and so very excited over our birthdays. We hope for family and friends to remember our birthdays and happily celebrating with us. Especially receiving the presents part. Who don't love receiving presents? We yearn for our partner to celebrate the day romantically with us, with a good dinner and lovely present.

As the time pass and as we aged, we tend to take our birthdays as just another day....

Birthday to me is a reminder of getting older each year and no longer something that I anxiously wait to enjoy with my love ones, family and friends celebrating with me with presents. I do enjoy the moment with all of them of course. Especially receiving the presents part if it's not a reminder of my age!

I wonder since when did I lost the touch of celebrating any occasion joyfully. I guess I should step back and enjoy life more than just thinking of working hard to earn for a good living.

It's not easy.

It's not easy to say I don't care and live as...

It's not easy to think about myself when there are others depending on me.

Happy birthday to me. I've just reached mid-life crisis.

I wish I could live for the moment.

Hiatus

I have been hiatus for a very long time. Perhaps my readers have gone elsewhere...

I have been very busy recently and all has settled down now. Been working hard to make sure things run smoothly on the project I am currently in – making sure it’s delivered on time and it did on April. Bringing and entertaining my in laws when they visited us for three weeks. It was a huge routine change for a start but many stories to tell whilst it last.

We are in Autumn season now. Welcoming Winter soon.

An Old Story

An old man lived alone in a village. He wanted to spade his potato garden, but it was very hard work. His only son, who would have helped him, was in prison.

   The old man wrote a letter to his son and mentioned his situation :

   Dear Son,
   I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't be able to plant my potato garden this year. I hate to miss doing the garden, because your mother always loved planting time. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over. I know you would dig the plot for me, if you weren't in prison.

   Love,
   Dad

   Shortly, the old man received this telegram :

   "For Heaven's sake, Dad, don't dig up the garden !! That's where I buried the GUNS !!"

   At 4 a.m. the next morning, a dozen FBI agents and local police officers showed up and dug up the entire garden without finding any guns.

   Confused, the old man wrote another note to his son telling him what happened, and asked him what to do next.

   His son's reply was :

   "Go ahead and plant your potatoes, Dad... It's the best I could do for you from here."

Moral :
   No matter where you are in the world, if you have decided to do something deep from your heart you can do it. It is the thought that matters not where you are or where the person is. :-)

I believe in this story. As you all know that I have migrated over to Melbourne and is far away from my family and friends. I have found that a thoughtful thing that I did makes a big difference to my family and friends. The difference between the thoughtful things I did was in terms of $$$.... LOL...

Anyway, that's beside the point. I believe the only thing that I can do for my friends are to send certain cute postcard with a note to remind them that I do still remember and cherish the friendship.

As for family, I try to provide what they need in their daily life as that will cost a lot of money sometimes.

It is true, no matter where I am, if I have to do something genuine to cherish them I can do it.

Friends come and go

It is funny how as we grow older our circle of friends become smaller. I remember the days when I was young and bursting with life, I have so many friends around me, hanging out with them nightly, chatting and never fail to do some mischiefs.

I used to have a bunch of good friends that not even counting with my 10 bare fingers will be enough. But now, if I were to count the remaining good friends that had stuck with me through thick and thin, through all sort of misunderstandings, it will not be more than 5 fingers itself.

“Even though we've changed and we're all finding our own place in the world, we all know that when the tears fall or the smile spreads across our face, we'll come to each other because no matter where this crazy world takes us, nothing will ever change so much to the point where we're not all still friends.”

I have a few friends that decided to 'un-friend' me for their own reasons that I have no idea about. I remember how we've enjoyed each other's company, talked about everything under the moon, hanging out everyday trying to create mischievous stuffs, be there for each other whenever we are down, complaining about everything in life as a teenagers and laughs at everything that we make fun off. It was fun and memorable whilst it last. Sadly, it ended when those friends decided to cut all contacts.

One particular friend who I've spent 1/4 of my teenager years with enjoying each other's company had decided to cut all contacts with me after a year going oversea to pursue her studies. That was many many years ago. I never get to understand why. I thought we had so many good things together as friends. We were inseparable. I've tried a few times to get in touch but never ever once she responded to it. I remember how I've touched her heart by cooking instant noodle when we were 14 (hilarious moment). I remember how I was there for her when she had a troubled childhood. I remember how I've tried to make her feel good about herself whenever she is feeling down. I remember how she always call back and chat for an hour after going abroad for studies. It was memorable while it last.... I guess we've outgrown that moments and slowly annoyed each other out of our lives. I know she might have misunderstood me over something that I might have or haven't done. How I wish I could right the wrong. I've missed her. Then, I found her in one of the social media and added her after so many years of losing contact. She responded finally. Sadly, as I asked for her contact, she decided to vanish out of the air. I guess the message is sent strongly now. No longer friends.

Another friend who I've spent 2/4 of my teenager years with had decided to get mad at me and leave me out of her life. It happened when I had one very traumatizing moment during my teenager years. It was my first break up. And my own girlfriends decided to boycott me for breaking up without understanding why. She was kind enough to help me out but eventually got 'poison' by gossips and rumours from people (jealous) who had always wanted to hurt me. Well, I was hurt when she believes them and never bother confront me about her doubts. I thought we were friends enough get a confrontation. Anyway, it was a decision made by her and I left it be until now. I've always wonder what she was mad about that causes her to cut all friendship. I've even asked the remaining good friends who know us recently just to find out why. I bet it is another misunderstanding that should have right the wrong when it happened. Too bad I was traumatized by the break up and didn't have the mind to set the friendship right.

Nonetheless, I am still very happy to have a few good friends in my life now. Well, there are a few more but sadly there wasn't any photo taken with them. Here goes some of them!

Malaysia trip for Chinese New Year 2011

We just came back from our Malaysia trip during this Chinese New Year, for a week.

Other than so much feasting and drinking, it has been a very hectic trip for us. We have completed all the planned tasks (mission impossible) within just 4 working days. Miracle. I am happy that we have done all the necessary stuff.

I've managed to meet up with some of my friends during this joyous season. It has been a year since I've met them. Little did I know most of my girlfriends are having their second child / first born in their tummy. It has been months and unfortunately I did not get any news about it from them!!! Really hope they make use of Facebook more often!

I did bought a few needed stuff during this trip as it is of course much cheaper to get it in Malaysian than Australia. Given that the exchange rates now is higher in AUD.

We did a few Lou Sang and expensive dinners (always a good time for Chinese restaurant to double charge when other shops are closed). Can't imagine if mamak started a dish Mamak Lou Sang for Chinese New Year. LOL...

Well, hope you all had a good and joyous celebration during this season and had many lou sang as possible!

I am the proud owner of Nikon D7000. Yes, I am!!!

And the body came with the Nikon 18-200mm VR. Don't ask me how much the whole package as it happened to cause sickness to my bank balance at the moment. May take awhile to recover from it.

Nonetheless, I am happy to get it as been saving up and waiting to get a good price out of it (more like price drops).

I unbox the package the moment I reached home and had to wait for 8 hours at least to get the battery charged before able to play around with the camera. So, I went and distract myself with the manuals that came with it. You won't believe that the manual is about 1.5 cm thick that explain a lot of things in detail. I feel like a student reading one of my MBA subjects.

Anyways, I went online and search for a quick tips on how to start up the camera, what settings to consider and what the heck all the buttons on the body for.....

Found some really great information on Youtube. Sharing it with you.

I think he is good. Will be following his blog on the tips he has listed down. Especially the FAQ site.

It's funny to see the trainer's look when they are told they will be staying together with the families and eat their food.

To be honest, just the snippet of that video / advertisement did not convince me to have a peek on the upcoming episode at all.

Just the way the dig into the food and the AMOUNT of food they eat in one sitting makes me wanna puke!

It's a no wonder they gained so much and became obese with such a big size and tonnes of dessert in every meal. I can literally feel my body crawls when I saw that clip.

I don't blame how the trainers is so not looking forward for the next day of staying together with the families. I won't too!!!!!

It is scary!

Come to think of it, since I've migrated over I did gained some weight. The size of the food here is so much bigger compared to Malaysia. To me, the meal look like 3 meals for me. But maybe to others it would be 2 meals. Then, I picked up the habit of snacking after dinner at night when I am hungry. So the extra baggage of food sits steadily around my tummy.

It's not fun, am not happy and plan to deal with it soon. However, it's hard not to eat when you are hungry eh? So I guess, a good kettlebells exercises should do the trick.

BH bought me some kettlebells and a dvd for working out at home. I guess, I will start doing so after my trip.

Else, the gaining weight part is just so not FUNNY!!!

9 must have things during Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is around the corner. Being here in Melbourne make me reminiscing about the time I have spent my whole life celebrating the auspicious occasion in Malaysia with family and friends.

It gets me thinking about all the stuff that we need to prepare every year before the day comes. Spring cleaning the house is a pain in the butt as we mostly do it once a year, hence all the rubbish at home is absolutely amazing. All the stuff we need to buy in preparation for visitors that will be visiting our house. Yes, Chinese New Year is all about visiting, munching biscuits and having beer with family and friends.

So, here I list down the 9 must have things during Chinese New Year...

Gold Coins
A symbol of wealth and prosperity! Traditionally, most families love to decorate their house with gold decoration to bring wealth to the house. Gold coins were used to be given away in red packets whenever others visited the place. Of course, now it has resides to money paper.

Mandarin Oranges
Tangerines and Mandarin oranges are two fruits which are shared generously with friends and family during Chinese New Year. Tangerines are symbolic of good luck and mandarin oranges are symbolic of wealth. Mandarin oranges are usually eaten or at least displayed. The orange is also a gift to the host when visitors visited the house.

Biscuits
Wholesome shapes that signify family togetherness. We normally have abundance of cookies displayed for our visitors to snack every year. It is a must to offer to the visitor together with candies, beer, stout and shandy.

Candies
Signifies the sweetness of friendship. Just like cookies, they are given as gifts when we do our visiting.

Shandy
Symbol of having a good time with families and friends. I have no idea where this beverage came into the picture but it has always been a traditional during Chinese New Year in every family to serve Shandy.

Yee Sang
Yee Sang is often served as part of a multi-dish dinner, usually as the appetizer due to its symbolism of "good luck" for the new year. Some would consume it on Renri, the seventh day of the Chinese New Year, although in practice it may be eaten on any convenient day.

Peanuts
Just like cookies, it will be serve to the guests and also as a gift for the host. Always goes well with beer with family and friends.

Cannes Food / Fruits
A well stocked home is reflected in a bounty of canned goodies of mushroom, abalone and etc as a symbol of prosperity.

Beer and Stouts
Signifies GOOD TIMES. You just can't go without a good alcoholic beverage!

I always organized gathering during the first day of Chinese New Year for friends and families. However, last year was a bit of a failure knowing that most of my friends that are married with kids, traveled back to their in-laws hometown and couldn't make it. Hence, this year I will make it after the 2nd day so almost everyone can make it to my place.

What you reckon? Did I miss something? You have more? hehehe...

2011 Resolutions

New Year Resolutions. Hmm... I have never had the habit to create any because life changes so dramatically for me that I have a hard time keeping track of what I need to achieve.

However this year, I would like to set a few just to see if I can achieve what I want / can.

Well, it’s funny how the most New Year’s resolutions are easier to say than done. But if we set it too high we are set to be doomed. So, I will aim low this time.

Who said we need a list that contains more than four resolutions every year? Hence, I will just summarize what I think I can do.

My resolution for this New Year is to become a senior professional consultant and to perform better in career including providing quality result, and setting an example to others. I also want to be a better person, to correct my faults and to learn to be more tolerant and communicative.

There you go. Simple and short.

How to become a Medical Biller

I used to think that I will be a doctor one day. I was 5 years old then.

As I entered secondary school, I realised how tough it is to get into medical studies without draining the wallet dry. Medicine is a demanded field and the future looks very bright with such profession. Although I may have wish for a medicine career path, I have embarked into the IT world instead. It is a promising career. However, with a little hope, I do still think about being a doctor or nurse so that I can help my family or relatives that needed me.

I’ve always associate jobs in the medical profession primarily with doctors and nurses, but then I stumbled across Medical Biller. It’s interesting how this profession is a current growing field which offer the same opportunities to help people without many of the hassles that come with actual patient interaction. This is perfect for people who want to work in the health care field. This work can be consider as helping patients from afar by filing claims with their insurance company. If employment in a doctor’s office does not sound appealing, we can also seek a position with an insurance company or even work from home in a freelance capacity.

And this requires only a 1-year medical coding certification (although there are certainly options for higher degrees, and like any medical field, continuing education can be extremely beneficial). How awesome is that???!!!

What I've learned during 2010

This year has been a roller coaster for me. Well, more like since August 2009 when I have decided to migrate over to Australia and start a life in Melbourne.

This year Christmas, we went to our friend’s place for a BBQ lunch and had a great time hanging out with them especially their little kiddo daughter. She who seems to find me fascinating and following me everywhere, running her few tiny steps and screaming her lungs out if I am nowhere on sight. It was fun. However, we did not get them any gifts and how embarrassing was that!!!??

Melbourne was so busy for the past two weeks with people buzzing in and out to get presents for friends and relatives. As for me, I was busy working and shopping online from Ebay to get some stuff I needed to use.

It has been a year of working in Melbourne with so many things that I have learned and seen. I have met so many amazing people and of course a few not so amazing people here. Again, I’ve stumbled across many poop-holes and grenade along the way and I had this feeling of giving up sometime but I managed to pull it through. Thanks to BH and also a few good friends that I’ve made through my stay here.

For this year, I have learn the culture in Australia and adapted to it well. I have seen some unattractive culture, attitude or behaviour of people that I do want to stay away from. I have experienced a few bad moments / incidents that left me a little out of breath before I could stand up and pick up my pace again. It wasn’t easy but I did it. I am blessed with having a few good people that is willing to help out when I was distressed. Perhaps karma really has its way of returning the effect of certain actions. For me, it was kindness. Just like the quote on this blog, ‘Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle’ and with this quote I action-ed. People who have negative behaviour with cynical mindset will get back a harsher return as their actions will always be negative.

I do believe in working hard to improvise my skill and knowledge at work, especially when I am working in a consultant firm where service is the core component. I guess that paid off when I received some good feedback and an end year gift.

I wonder what 2011 has for me. I hope for a good and not so winding road ahead. I have few plans to make during this New Year and wishes that everything falls into expected places as planned.

Arrogance. If you are not a humble person and believe you are God’s gift to humanity & believe you worth more than any others... I do think you will need to get a smack on your idiotic ego to tame that arrogant attitude down. It is never hard to be humble.

Dishonesty. Even the smallest lies make me disrespect you. Trust is a huge factor for me in terms of friendship, relationships and etc. Have some integrity people!

Rumour Monger. I lose all respect to people who play mind games and create rumours by putting words to another’s mouth. It is freaking despicable and these types of people should be shot on the head to make sure they learn the lesson of such behaviour!
