Today is the start of the Chinese New Year- The Year of The Dragon! The dragon era commences today and ends February 9, 2013. The mythical creature is going to be celebrated in festivities throughout LA’s Chinatown this weekend. If you make your way to Downtown Los Angeles this Saturday you’ll be able to ring in the Chinese New Year with a parade full of dancers, musicians, and (you guessed it) DRAGONS!

Given it’s a novelty every time it rains in Los Angeles, I wanted to share with you some rainy day essentials for staying cozy and dry for when the weather turns wet.

Read a book, learn something new. Don’t get sucked into watching TV when it rains, try opening a book or downloading one on your Kindle, iPad, or Nook.

Hi All,

Here’s a quick update on what’s going on with good old LA Pretty. Yes, Nicole and Ami were the brains behind the site and loved updating it everyday. That is until they both got new jobs and ended up behind on posting until the site sadly went down.

Well…here’s some GREAT news, they’ve decided to redo it all and make the site better and Prettier than ever! So stay tuned for more beauty reviews, LA events, and snarky remarks.
