The Simpsons 500th episode is “The most meaningless milestone of all,” warns the show’s opening theme, which combines 23 seasons of couch gags to form the number 500.

In “At Long Last Leave,” the Simpsons are banished from Springfield for causing too many shenanigans. You can almost hear Comic Book Guy yelling, “Simpsons did it!” (see: The Simpsons Movie) The exiled family moves off the grid to the Outlands, which has its own theme.

The self-deprecating episode ends with plea for mercy: “Thanks for 500 Shows. All we ask is that you go out and get some fresh air before logging on the internet and saying how much this sucked.”

Daredevil may be a lawyer and super hero but love is blind and so is he. In Daredevil #8 he teams up the Black Cat, who steals more than his heart. They break into a high-tech super villain HQ, where they reminisce about “good old-fashioned full-body patdowns.” Black Cat guides his hand down a shaft to disarm the defenses. Fortunately, they trip some lasers before either one of them can “make a billy club joke.” The issue ends with Daredevil taking her back to his place for some debriefing.

Daredevil #9 opens with a not-so-subtle juxtaposition of images. On the left, Daredevil is in a passionate embrace with Black Cat. On the right, a thumbnail of Daredevil smelling his fingers. He’s actually smelling camphor to mask the smell of grave robbers he’s tracking, but just the fact that he’s thinking about the girl he hooked up with while smelling his fingers earns him the nickname horndog.

This year, Animation Domination featured some very special Valentine’s Day episodes, like after school special.

On The Cleveland Show (“Dancing with the Stools”), Cleveland Jr. replaces his dad in a dance competition and develops feelings for his stepmother, Donna. Junior repeatedly kisses her and even proposes. Eventually she sets him straight and he professes, “You know Ms. Donna, you’re a real MILF… mother I’d like as a friend.” With their relationship back to normal they do some wholesome mother and son dirty dancing. When they get home Junior ogles his stepsister, Roberta, who has morphed into Donna from babysitting Rilo.

On Family Guy (“Tom Tucker: The Man and His Dream”), Chris brings home his new girlfriend Lindsey, who looks disturbingly like his mother, Lois. Stewie jokes, “It looks like somebody getting a little Oedipusy.” In fact, Chris later admits that’s exactly why he asked her out. Chris thinks he’s a trainwreck like his dad and only a girl like his mom would put up with him. Lois tells Chris he could get any girl he wants, then she takes the child filter off the computer so he can have a fun night.

Dollhouse‘s Amy Acker finally gets to play dress up in the fairy tale television series Grimm. In last week’s episode “Tarantella,” Acker stars as Lena, a man eating spider woman called a Spinnetod. She conceals her identity with a variety of costumes and wigs, including a very sexy blonde. Detective Nick Burkhardt manages to track her down when one of Lena’s victims bites off her finger. When he asks to see her hand, it’s already grown back. She asks, “Any other body parts you want to see?” Fortunately for Nick, he’s a happily married man and doesn’t fall into this spider’s web.

He used to have a super hot bod until Juliet had to perform some emergency surgery for a zombie bite. Nick’s not just a pretty face though, his head can be used as a projectile or even reattached to his zombified body to give you hand.

A purported wooly mammoth has been spotted in Siberia, but skeptics say it’s just a bear carrying a fish. The fishy footage was captured by government-employed engineer Michael Cohen, who just happens to be a paranormal writer.

Derek Serra, a Hollywood video-effects artist who has previously analyzed faked UFO videos, says the video appears to have been intentionally blurred in order to obscure the animal’s true identity. “Even low-resolution cameras can focus fairly well on something,” Serra said. “But there’s really nothing in this video in focus. The rocks in the foreground have a blur to them that doesn’t seem natural.”

Talk about sloppy police work, Vermont State Police have been driving around for years with decals that feature a cow with a large pig-shaped spot. The decals were ordered in 2009 from the Northwest State Correctional Facility, where an intrepid inmate altered the image.

Public Safety Commissioner Keith Flynn says he can see the humor but “If the person had used some of that creativeness, he or she would not have ended up inside.”

Not everyone is laughing though. Police Major Bill Sheets is quickly replacing the decals. “While some may find humor in the decal modifications, the joke unfortunately comes at the expense of the taxpayers,” Sheets said in a statement. It will cost $780 for the new decals, which Sheet says will be subject to more stringent quality control.

John Hafernik, a professor of biology at San Francisco State University, thinks he knows what’s behind the mysterious disappearance of honey bees. The self-described absent-minded professor collected some of the bees to feed to a praying mantis but forgot about them. He returned to find the bees had been consumed from the inside out by Apocephalus borealis (Figure A), a parasitic fly native to North America. The fly injects its eggs into the bee’s abdomen (Figure B). One week later as many as two dozen larvae emerge at the junction of the head and thorax (Figure C) earning them the name ‘decapitating flies.’

The study, A New Threat to Honey Bees, the Parasitic Phorid Fly Apocephalus borealis, published in the science journal PLoS ONE links the parasite to hive abandonment, known as Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). It found that parasitized bees leave the hive to gather around lights, where they walk in circles and stumble like zombies. The researchers theorize “A. borealis manipulates the behavior of honey bees by changing a bee’s circadian rhythm, its sensitivity to light or other aspects of its physiology.”

The parasite is already well-documented in bumblebees and paper-wasps, but researchers believe its presence in honey bees is a recent development. “Honeybees are among the best-studied insects of the world,” said Hafernik. “We would expect that if this has been a long-term parasite of honeybees, we would have noticed.”

Unlike bumblebees, honey bees live in large colonies that generate enough heat to survive the winter and may aid in propagating the parasite. The study found that 77% of San Francisco Bay honey bees were infected and warns “the domestic honey bee is potentially A. borealis’ ticket to global invasion.” Host bees on other continents would be naïve to the parasite and especially susceptible to attack. Worldwide agriculture, which is dependent on the bees for pollination, could lose billions. That’s billions with a ‘B.’

Rape is never funny, unless it’s all just a big misunderstanding. Rob Schneider’s new sitcom Rob pays homage to the anime School Rumble in which a naked guy, who’s in the wrong place at the wrong time, grabs a girl to stop her from screaming. Of course, that only makes things worse!
