For the uninitiated (shame on you), AFA09 falls on 21-22 November 2009.

I shall start studying now.

2 weeks to Anime Festival Asia 2009 (AFA 09) and I’m feeling so excited to catch the Hatsune Miku concert.. Well, to start things off, I would like to showcase another Hatsune Miku song, this time it is made by “Peperon-P”, a known composer who made quite a number of Vocaloid songs, using characters like Meiko and even Gacktpoid.. He began his work since 2007 when Hatsune Miku was “born” into this world.. Since then, he has made around 50 songs (Thanks to Youtube user “ymiyass900” for compiling the number of songs he made)..

Moving on to the song itself, it tells the dark story about a Yandere Hatsune Miku.. It is not usual to see a Yandere Miku in a song so I find this one pretty much unique.. Well, like usual, I would like to let you all watch the video before I go and talk about it.. So enjoy watching it~

“Saw and Pendulum” – Hatsune Miku:

Regarding the song itself, I find it quite dark and also weird in some part of the song, especially the scene with just the words and chains.. Apart from that, I find the song very catchy indeed such as the chorus of the song where the song is rather soothing which surprises me since this song starts off with a creepy note.. Anyway, this balanced the song pretty well and I very much love listening to the song many times.. At one point, I felt that this song is suited to be an OP or ED song..

For the video, I don’t find anything interesting about the animation.. Although I do applaud the user himself for making the animation very smooth which nowadays most Vocaloid videos lack.. I do love the last part of the song where it shows the Yandere Miku holding onto a chopper.. The clothing is pretty nice to so to say..

Well, thats all I have for this week Vocaloid songs (More like Hatsune Miku songs so far).. I’ll sure to post more before AFA 09 begins.. 2 more weeks to go!! XD

Over a week ago on the 27th October 09, a very unique Touhou PV was released by a Nico user Anira which was simply a huge hit itself.. The PV titled “Bad Apple!! feat. nomico” is so epicly nice that since its release, the video views on NicoNicoDouga has already surpassed the 1 million mark views (1,128,000 views when post was done. ) with almost 400k favorites.. Yes, it is very hard to reach such a high mark in a short span of 1 1/2 weeks..

It is so amazing that the doujin circle Alstroemeria Records, responsible for the Touhou arrange of Reimu’s BGM, “Bad Apple!! feat nomico” in their August 2007 LoveLight album, blogged about the video at their website. So what is so good that it made alot of people, Touhou fans or not go crazy over it when there are already a few PV variations out there before it? Well, for this PV, it uses a very stylish shadow art composition, having beautiful shape transitions to illustrate different touhou characters throughout the shortened version of the song.

I honestly love this PV very much.. Its very nice to see some of the Touhou characters “dancing” along with the song.. Another thing I would like to point out is that the Touhou characters looks so realistic and human-like which some people says it creeps them out.. I don’t mind it at all as the movements feel so natural in a sense that it makes it unique.. Now for those who wish to know the lyrics to the song, I’ve done so here neatly, both in Romaji and in English (for translation sake)..

Before a PV is made, there is usually a planning stage which in this case comes in a simple video filled with simple hand-sketched storyboard playing along with the song itself with a message left by the uploader “MMM” asking someone to make a PV out of this.. Yes, because of this year’s Anime Festival Asia (AFA) 2009 held in Singapore having a live performance by the World’s Virtual DIVA; Hatsune Miku, they decided on this wonderful giveaway.. Yes, you heard me right, a simple but truly amazing giveaway to a Hatsune Miku fan..

She made her debut performance at Animelo Summer Live 2009. Just when I was almost forgetting about both of these anime-sequels-as-movies, their trailers get released.

Let’s talk about Eden of The East: King of Eden first. The trailer started airing on the official site only a few days ago, with a promise of a second movie being released next year, on 9 January 2010, though be prepared to be disappointed: the release date for the first got pushed back to 19 December 2009 instead of 28 November as mentioned in the trailer below:

I’m looking forward to this one, since the original had such a gripping storyline it kept me watching all the way to the end. It even managed to mislead me during the first episode until the few minutes before the ED theme song ended. Can’t wait to see who the other 4 yet-to-be-seen Selecao are.

For those of you who haven’t watched the series, I highly suggest you watch it. It won’t disappoint you, though it could do without all the random Johnny jokes. =_=

Also, the Gundam 00 “unofficial” movie trailer, after the series left us off with a warning of something to come. Awesome Gundam designs are awesome. Tieria’s Raphael clearly has the coolest weapons, while Setsuna’s Quanta (if that’s what you call it) having Fangs was a big surprise. Then again, considering the past series…I ‘m not too surprised.

Some people don’t seem to like Quanta’s design (or at least the fact that it uses Fangs), but hey, you can’t please everyone.

A post on the official Crypton blog reveals a possibly new VOCALOID series, along with samples for a “innocent, child-like voice”.

Named “Project if…”, the project is a joint collaboration between WHOOPEE and Crypton, and revolves around the concept of “what if…?”. I guess their first thought was to try the voice of a little girl. ^_^;

Above is a sample of what they have so far, singing that famous song. It does sound cute, and I’m looking forward to the sort of stuff VOCALOID composers will come up with, if and when the voice is released.

There’s not a lot of detail revealed, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see. And as mentioned in moetron, Crypton probably has their hands full with this, as well as the upcoming male VOCALOID and Hatsune Miku APPEND. We didn’t manage to blog about it, so I guess a quick introduction is in order.

Hatsune Miku APPEND to Hatsune Miku is basically what Red Alert 3: Uprising is to Red Alert 3; it’s a standalone expansion containing variations of her voice data, unlike the Kagamine Rin/Len Act2 pack which contained “improved” voices. It was announced in August, and contains 3 different variations of the voice we all know and love.

Above video contains all 3 samples, and if you listen carefully, they do differ somewhat, and I’m impressed with how much more human-like they are. There’s no release date announced yet (at least to my knowledge), so I guess we’ll have to wait it out.

Also, note that a new VOCALOID series is purely speculation. For all we know, “Project if…” may result in a separate product line (unless it has already been confirmed).

Oh well.
